Tip Top Fish Bar in Croydon

About 3.5 months ago, on a freezing December day, I was at the bus stop outside CB Sezen and started collapsing. My speech was slurred and my vision was going. I went into CB Sezen for help and, even though I couldn't speak properly to explain myself, and the workers were not completely fluent in English, the gentleman behind the counter immediately jumped into action. He sat me down, gave me water and biscuits, and could see my limbs were locking up so even started vigorously massaging my arms. I didn't leave a review when it happened, as I didn't write Google reviews back then, but I have started recently - and wanted to leave this to say thank you. Thank you so much for helping me at such a scary moment. I hope your business has an abundance of success for years to come. You are truly good people. To all locals in the South Croydon area, please patronise this wonderful establishment. These gentlemen truly deserve your custom.

I honestly don't know how this place has such high ratings. I ordered the Rock and chips from this place. The Rock was cooked from frozen because I saw the short guy take it out the freezer. When I got it, it was watery and not cooked through and clumped together. I tried to give feedback to the short guy and he was saying something about bones, I don't know but I didn't come across any, It was just so horrible. Threw away nearly all of it and went Nandos. I can't speak for the other fish they have those might be fresh but the rock certainly isn't. Do not understand any circumstances order the rock from this place unless you see it is fresh and not frozen. The owner guy is really cool but unfortunately my first experience will be my last.

Good portion of fresh fish and chips very filling and tastes amazing. Great staff very welcoming. My Go to fish and chips restaurant. Thank you for your service always.

Great atmosphere and brilliant service, staff was friendly and helpful, they made my food hot and fresh, I love the way they cook, it’s extremely delicious, I highly recommend this place to everyone, best food I’ve ever had so far.

Clearly a guy working very hard trying to make a small business work and pay his bills. This place is a god send when you don't drive and want hot, fresh fish & chips everytime. I don't eat fish personally but my family does, and says it's very nice. I usually go for the chicken nuggets, again, very nice. Not many places nowadays where food is delivered as hot and fresh anymore... I order usually from Just Eat and only problems have been drivers stealing a battered sausage or ketchup but I've called up and presuming the owner Alex (?) has rectified it on the next order or Just Eat has refunded it so good customer service too. The only downside to ordering is the prices are pretty high but that's not the owners fault, he has to pay a high fee to the delivery companies which means the prices need to cover his costs. 🤓 Keep up the good work, Alex? X

Absolutely fantastic! The fish was incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked with a crispy golden batter, and the chips were fluffy on the inside and wonderfully crispy on the outside. The portions were generous, and everything tasted amazing. The staff were friendly and welcoming, creating a great atmosphere. I had a visitor from the USA so looked up the best fish and chip places locally and this place had the top reviews. I can see why as the food was absolutely mouthwatering. The best fish and chips I have had by far for as long as I can remember. The shop was super clean and the gentleman that served us was so very friendly and warm...truly service with a smile which feels so rare nowadays. The fish was golden and so fresh and flaky. Will be making this my regular spot from now on. 10/10 :)

The customer service was absolutely awful. On the door it said they take contactless payments and when we ordered they said they take cash only. After I said I didn’t have my physical card on me to take out cash they allowed me to pay via Apple Pay. We then asked for lemon which usually comes with fish and chips, they didn’t have any. We asked for ketchup and mayo, and they said they charge 10p for a tiny packet. The old man was talking in his own language complaining to his colleague. The colleague that served us was okay but the bald old guy was not nice at all. However the food was okay. Wouldn’t recommend

Cod was soggy,tasteless and wasn't fresh. The chips also weren't fresh and were soggy. Portion sizes are decent and I like that they uses boxes. Not sure if go back in afraid .

The fish was good but it was fried in oil that smelled bad and tasted awful. It was greasy and the chips were not very good

Food was soggy and flavourless. Portion was good but had no taste. Had to add salt myself to add flavour. Sausage was soggy and bland. Probably wouldn’t order again.
