'The heating isn't on....' I heard this several times, as staff responded to customers' remarks on how cold it was in the cafe. The chill spoiled my lunch visit, as the food got cold quickly (serving on hot plates would help). It really was uncomfortable, and everyone was huddled in their coats. It was a very nippy 1 degree outside, and so no heating in a former church building with extremely high ceilings is ludicrous. My meal of a panini and chips was fine, with good home made chips, but I couldn't fully enjoy it as the chips soon got cold. This is a lovely little place, with nice staff and good value fare, but I'll wait for warm weather before I return.

So happy to have found this cafe as the staff were so kind, and the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend this cafe, and you should not leave without trying a cake. Great prices, and amazing service. Sandwiches are great, chips are delicious, and scones are prepared wonderfully

Called here today with my friends beautiful daughter. Have not been since Bishop College did food. It was the best breakfast I've had for a very long time. It was hot and came with tea, coffee or juice. The staff were lovely nothing a bother despite staff shortages. It was quiet too which is a bonus. Couldn't fault it! Thank you so much. Also read the ongoing Saga with Clare, (dont know her) however she will be pleased to know the Tea Room is in good hands. Thank you so much. Hope to become a regular.

I have just posted this review on the Four Clocks Cafe page, then saw this page and am wondering if I mis-placed the review. I'm hoping the proprietors will let me know if I have posted correctly. I stopped in here between work meetings and had a cream scone and coffee and am so delighted that I did! Both my scone and coffee were prepared with great care and served with a smile, and I couldn't help but feel myself unwinding in the midst of a stressful day... I nibbled my sweet treat (overflowing with jam and cream) and sipped my rich coffee, then strolled around to study the original artwork on display. This, together with the warm orange decor creates a cosy and creative vibe. The magnificent stained glass windows are a reminder of what a special place this is. Look up and you'll see a magnificent Miners' banner hanging above you, and step out into the corridor for a display of local history through photographs, information panels and artefacts. Friendly service, great prices and a unique setting make this my 'Go To Retreat' when I need to withdraw from the world for a little while... Thankyou everyone.

Maybe this is not a fancy place, but the Time for You Tea Rooms in the Four Clocks building on the high street are a great place to eat. We stopped in for lunch and had very good food (the chips are excellent!) for very good prices. No surprise the place is full at lunch time, mainly with local seniors. It makes for a friendly atmosphere as half the people seemed to have at least a nodding acquaintance. The portions are hearty and it would be hard to leave hungry. They will put almost anything you want in the omelettes, which were nice. The quiche and fish and chips were also well-rated. (And did I mention the chips were great?) The only thing that would improve things would be serving frozen peas instead of tinned ones (yuck). Fresh and tasty food, such reasonable prices, friendly folks and a lovely stained glass window and a small train exhibit to look at. (Church turned community centre/tea room?) We would certainly go back here!

A lovely little cafe with a great choice all the food was freshly cooked and the price was very reasonable. Only disappointment was missing the homemade pies so next time will be in earlier.
