Excellent ciusine. Intimate setting. Lovely staff. The place to go for a special occasion or an adult evening out. Booking recommended but they will accommodate walk ins space permitting.

Well, what can I say?? FANTASTIC! We came for lunch first and honestly could have had everything on the menu! After having a glance at the evening menu we knew we had to come back. The evening was wonderful, we came with friends and everyone loved it! The food was cooked to perfection, lots of yummy veg with all the mains and a wonderful choice of starters and desserts! The staff were wonderful and very welcoming. One of our friends were vegetarian which we had forgotten to say at point of booking but they catered to our needs with a big smile on their faces! I really could not recommend this beautiful restaurant enough. Stunning food, beautiful setting and wonderful staff! I would give this place 10 stars if I could!

This was the priciest meal I had in Wales and sadly the worst food, it is prix fix menu. Menu *didn’t mention* the scallops app would have curry sauce on them. The pesto lobster was dry and about 5 bites of food for a main. No way to treat seafood. Overworked and very sad. Service was perfunctory. Tab was 57 pounds. It was like a nightmare.

Visited Tides whilst staying in Newport for the weekend.So glad we had booked in advance…it’s a very popular place to eat ….and you can see why .it’s a fixed price menu £55 for 3 courses including an amuse bouche …. Not cheap but worth every penny …we had Thai salmon fish cakes as a little appetiser with lovely sourdough bread and bacon butter …delicious.My husband also opted for some oysters which are extra but were beautifully fresh .we then had scallops and calamari followed by lobster and sea bass …all delightful..A lovely selection of local cheeses ended our meal …Absolutely fabulous..

Had a wonderful meal at Tides. We had these delicious salmon fish cakes to start followed by homemade sourdough. The scallops starter was out of this world full of flavour and perfect amount for a starter. I had a beautiful sea bass fillet with crispy cockles and a wonderful sauce. The girls was attentive and extremely welcoming. Can’t wait to visit tides again. Two courses are £47 with 3 coming in at £55 but amuse bouche & the fantastic bread course make it value for money for a fine dining experience. Well worth a visit if you’re lucky enough to get a table. Book early!

Simply beautiful. If you love seafood this is for you. Everyrhing we ordered was presented immaculately, the taste was divine. The oysters were amazing This place is a real gem. Staff are attentive, friendly and welcoming. Highly recomend.

Lovely place , great food , but would not re visit … it’s far too expensive for the good you get 2course meal £47 … 1st course I chose scallop with hake as my main course …. ONE SCALLOP CUT INTO 4 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ are you having a laugh … makes the main course a ridiculous price …. For the amount of food you get it should have been £30 maximum Shame on you

Truly delicious food, fantastic intimate atmosphere. Worth every penny!

The food was good but that is only a limited part of dining out, the rest of the experience was deflating and negative. We had tried to call to book several times with no answer so we took the time to personally call in and book. We arrived a few weeks later to blank faces. Our booking was not in the diary. The response from the manager was “Ohhh, well we will have to do it” to the other staff in front of us. Nice response to make one feel special!!!! We were then told to phone in the future and to do so in the evening next time to book rather then call in!!!! We were then taken to a table. The server returned and said they would need the table by a certain time or if not then she would need to find another table for the next customers. Feeling special once again!!!! Food was OK, even good but the experience was awful. We had really been looking forward to going, having tried damned hard to book several times. It was supposed to be a lovely special, relaxed birthday meal. We left as soon as we finished our main course. Won’t be returning. Such a shame, as locals and holiday cottage owners we hoped to have a fabulous place to frequent and find somewhere to recommend to guests who come and stay at our properties.

This is a near perfect seafood restaurant with a few non-fish options. The service (by the all female crew) and the food (by the female chef) were outstanding and the price reasonable. I’m sure it’s not perfect but I can’t immediately think what I would change. An excellent meal at a reasonable price in attractive surroundings. Strongly recommended.

We stopped for some lunch and had the Hot Lobster Roll which was on the specials board and the Monkfish KFC Burger, friendly staff and lovely food 🤌🏼

Great little place serving excellent food and wine, I had the prawn special and the tuna salad special both excellent, fish and chips we're excellent too, very impressive.

Menu sounded right up my street to begin with. Bouche was more like a canapé and at £47 for 2 courses I was expecting something a little more exciting than a chip with curry sauce. For starter I had tuna tataki with a dipping sauce, it was good but nothing special and was lacking something else on the plate. The main was the best course, a portion of juicy bass, heritage tomatoes and crab butter. Again a very small portion, great flavour & was very summery. New potatoes & greens were seasoned well but lacked imagination for the price we paid. Over all I’d come back but would hope the portions / price are a little more value for money next time. Has a lot of potential.

We had a delicious meal here and really friendly service. From the lovely amuse bouche to the most amazing crusty bread with delicious marmite and cheddar butters to small but perfect starters. The only thing we would improve would be the side dish (just plain boiled/steamed potatoes & veg), which was the same for everyone and didn’t really go well with one of our delicious mains, the monkfish & crab curry. A definite 5 star treat if sides were tailored to the each dish!

Some friends invited us for a meal. Just loved the food, really tasty, good service and a good wine list. We had a meal a few weeks ago at Rick Steins in Marlborough and this was heads and shoulders above what we had. Yes it's quite pricey but food was worth it.

What can I say!! Personality Vacuum, Welcoming attitude, Food available for vegetarians extremely poor to say the least. We asked at the door were there seats available we were pointed to an unfinished cleared table. On this up to date site we were told that masks are to be worn and tables sanitised neither was this correct at no time were we told to put any type of mask on. We asked if there was any type of vegetarian options were available, not one thing in the counter was suitable for us, even though there were chefs behind the counter waiting for orders. Very poor to say the least as this was 1pm..... lunch time!! I don't know where the pictures on the site have come from bit it was definitely not at this particular eatery/bar/restaurant. I am not one for putting in poor results but this was disappointing at best.

We bought seafood here in July 2021 during our stay in a cottage in Moylgrove. Bought a live lobster a live crab and a huge sea bass for 50.- all was superb i cooked three evening meals from this all superb quality.

Had a fantastic meal here on Friday for my husband’s 50th birthday! Our third visit to our favourite restaurant outside of London. We booked for Fish & Fizz on their opening night after their winter break. The chef has obviously come back refreshed & inspired with a great choice of new dishes. The fish here is always cooked to perfection & is so worthy of all the amazing reviews. Try the scallops with a buttery curry sauce & crispy chicken skin, it’ extremely tasty! For mains we had hake with a warm tartare sauce & crispy cockles & plaice beautifully roasted on the bone with a rich peppercorn sauce. Great wine list. Perfection in the heart of Newport & busy even in February. Looking forward to returning at Easter. Well done team Tides.

We sadly had to cancel our New Year's Eve dinner at Tides Kitchen - booked in November - owing to wife's toothache, but they kindly accepted a fresh reservation from us a few days later. What a wonderful place: bright and woody interior with well-spaced tables. They had prepared the right table for my wife's wheelchair. We chose wild mushroom arancini and scallops with chicken lollipops to start. The arancini were the real deal, with the porcini flavour shining through beneath the crunch, but the scallops and chicken were quite simply a taste revelation. Scallops were so fresh and perfectly cooked, still just translucent, chicken tender and succulent, the two contrasting ingredients skilfully bound together in a smoky, tangy sauce. For the mains, we had crispy prawns and brill. The prawns were cooked with oriental spices, salt-and-pepper style, and were luscious, while the brill - such a rarity on menus these days - was beautifully cooked in an intense but not overpowering sauce. There was a generous and appetising serving of a wide variety of vegetables on the side. We wound up with a fragrant steamed orange pudding in a ginger custard. The home-made sourdough bread was brilliant, as was the inspired chicken-infused butter. Charming and obliging service at all times. Exceptional place - hang onto it, Newport!
