Earlier this week we took my daughter to the Thyme kitchen for a birthday afternoon tea. We were seated at a table in the lovely restaurant, which was beautifully decorated and had a lot of character. We were all extremely impressed with the amount and quality of food presented to us. The fresh sweet potato and coconut soup was delicious to start. It was followed by sweetcorn fritters with chilli jam and smashed avocado with feta slices. Allergies were catered for with our sandwich selection which were freshly made. The fruit scones with a generous dish of jam and clotted cream were warm and tasty. At this point we were full! However, we still had a plate with watermelon and pots of mixed berries, granola and yoghurt, as well as small slices of banana bread, chocolate brownies and lemon and rosemary cake! Thankfully, boxes were available to take the cake home. The service was great from friendly, helpful staff and unlimited tea or coffee was frequently replenished. We would highly recommend a visit to the Thyme kitchen for a very good value and delicious afternoon tea in lovely surroundings. We will be back again!

My first visit but it won’t be my last. Helpful, friendly staff and the most extensive breakfast menu I’ve ever seen. Food was delicious. Look forward to a return visit.

Had a cracking breakfast, 3rd time here and has never failed to deliver.

Disappointed with the Caesar Salad. All it consisted of was lots of lettuce and not much else. Should have had anchovies but not one found.

I really enjoyed the food and the young lady serving us was very pleasant and attentive. This was my first time at the Thyme Kitchen and I am sure it won't be my last. Would recommend.

Nice place to visit but unfortunately we waited 30-40 minutes for our tea/coffee and slices of cake. Fortunately, the younger server noticed something had gone wrong and tried her best to sort it quickly. The original server who took our order stated "the system sometimes glitches". After all that wait, the cake tasted somewhat stale! Not sure what went on there. No offer of a discount or anything of the kind...

Brilliant Sunday Roast, with lovely service and a good atmosphere.

Party of three, two of us had the Chicken & mushroom pie,which was excellent, but the dish was spoiled by the roast veggies, which were disappointing. Cauliflower, broccoli and sugar snap peas were all too 'al dente' - glazed carrots & parsnips on previous visits, which were much better. Because of the veggies, can only give 4 stars for the food. Excellent coffee, so much better than the chains!

Attended with family for my husband's birthday. We were sat inside. It was busy but at no point did we ever feel like we waited any length of time. The food was stunning!. What a lovely menu with plenty of choice. And really nice to get a good sized pot of tea!. Will definitely be coming back again soon.

Avoid - after a pleasant previous trip we decided to go again for breakfast this morning. Despite the big diversions in the area we felt it was worth it. I checked the website but you couldn’t book for the same day so off we went. We arrived about 10am, there were a good few people already there but we found a table and I spoke to a server who said she would come over. After a short wait she came over and said no food available if you hadn’t booked. No other explanation that was it. Totally unacceptable, nothing on your website to say this and like I said no other explanation. People have to travel a way to get to you and this treatment is very poor. DO NOT GO FOR FOOD UNLESS YOU HAVE A BOOKING!

Brilliant Little venue, We had the pleasure of entertaining here recently. Pre the event we found the team super efficient, on the night of the event staff were easy to get on with and accommodated all our needs

Great place. We visited today (Saturday) and found it to be a bustling place, so would highly recommend booking ahead. We didn’t book, but were very grateful to be accommodated. Wonderful food, nice drinks and the team were friendly. Step free access much appreciated!

Lovely place, clean and well presented. Waitress was polite and courteous. Extensive selection on menu; however, we needed to enquire to where our food (sandwiches/snack) were, as considerably long wait and when they arrived, were cold. We mentioned this to the waitress, who took them back to 'warm them up' ....not acceptable and made for a disappointing lunch.

I had breakfast with my friend who was visiting from Canada. My friend picked the pancakes with bacon and Maple Syrup . We joked that we hoped it was authentic Maple Syrup and it was . I had the Veggie English Breakfast which was plentiful and delicious . Great food , great friendly staff and great service and location . Will definitely go back for another lovely breakfast , what a treat !

I felt under pressure to choose my cake,I just wanted make sure as they all looked delicious.sat outside for a a short time but there were a few mounds of dog mess not been cleaned up.put me right off visiting again.

We had a Bacon and egg cob for three, the egg was £1.20 extra!! for each, + tea and coffee the bill £34 But watch out for the donation of £1.23 towards a tree as they never asked us if we wanted to donate before paying the bill. Very pleasant staff and service and will no doubt return.

Lovely place and the staff were all lovely but the food portions are absolutely tiny and the prices are quite high for what you actually get. I had lunch here with two friends and we all had different dishes so was clear to see it’s an overall issue not specific dishes. I had to go out somewhere else afterwards as I was still hungry. Side note: who charges £1 extra for hollandaise sauce when it’s meant to be part of dish? 😂 Would visit again if I was there for other reasons and fancied a coffe/cake sit down but not for food, not worth it

Great food, a lovely local produce take on a rustic brunch, with great options for every palate. Booking is a good idea as it is popular. What made the day special was the fantastic service from Jack. Attentive, incredibly polite, very patient with our indecisiveness and helpful in an effortless way. If you dine here I hope you get Jack to serve your table!

Mother's day experience -one of our party had rang Thyme Kitchen beforehand to enquire if the normal menu was in use ,was told it was. When we arrived there,it became clear this was not the case,and that the (very expensive) Mother's day menu was in use. So we ordered from that menu ,and in due course the meals came.what there was of it was very nice ,but £18 was far too much for the amount served. Desserts were £8 for a very small portion. I appreciate that Mother's day is always a rip off price wise ,but we all were very disappointed.

Thank you to all your wonderful staff for today’s Mother’s Day meal that my parents and I enjoyed very much. The menu was great, the food generous in portion and totally delicious. All the waiters and waitresses were extremely polite and efficient. You could not have done a better job and so thank you very much.

Average food and overpriced. Ordered pancakes with Nutella & banana and they forgot the banana. Two of us then ordered a slice of cake each, the waitress then came back and said there was only one slice left and we had to wait an extra 20 minutes for it to come. We then had to ask for cutlery. Would probably give it another chance though as the staff seemed rushed off their feet and were trying their best

Amazing food set in a gorgeous location and very cosy setting. I had the vegetarian nan followed by an enormous slice of home made red velvet cake which was absolutely delicious! Will definitely be going back. The staff were very welcoming and friendly too 🙂

3 stars because the place and staff were really nice, especially our server, Vicky. I’m writing this as a vegan. I have no doubt that for non-vegans it would get 5 stars. The menu options for non-vegans all sound amazing! It’s a shame to only see two options on the menu for vegans - the breakfast or the granola. I ordered the vegan breakfast and although it was edible, it wasn’t particularly nice. The menu online says “Vegan sausage, sweet potato & rosemary hash, mushrooms, rocket beans & toast” and as the picture shows, there was no rocket. The menu on the day also said caramelised onions, which I asked about and was told they were mixed within the food. I couldn’t notice any and they brought me some on the side. Unfortunately, they tasted like hot dog fried onions. Also, the breakfast option for vegans costs the same as the vegetarian option which has eggs but there is no replacement item for vegans. All that aside, if you are vegan and are not too bothered about food, then it is a nice place to visit. The oat milk latter I had was delicious! I hope they offer a wider selection of vegan options in the future.

Went the first time, 2wks ago, fantastic breakfasts, quality food. Smoky beans and vine Tommy's. Second time, thought I'd treat the family. unfortunately 40min before we had drinks, appreciate it was busier this time. Same breakfasts, normal tom, not vine, normal beans. Mushrooms, were mega salty. It was nice but nothing special this time around. And at those prices, a little overpriced for me. Lastly, no mention from the staff a service charge is automatically added to the bill.

I had been to this restaurant before and although the food was ok previously, the service was very slow and a bit careless. This time, we turned up at a Sunday lunchtime without a reservation. They were obviously busy but found us a table straight away, came back for our order after 5 minutes and our food was on the table less than 10 minutes after that. We had the roast beef meal, which was cooked to perfection, and the service was prompt and courteous, with frequent checks by the waiting staff to make sure we were ok. There was plenty of room at the tables and the atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant. Lessons have obviously been learned - An excellent meal, a thoroughly pleasant experience and highly recommended!

We attended the Sauce Supper Club event, where Masterchef Professionals finalist Tommy Thorn was guest chef for the evening. Food was delicious, and staff were very friendly and attentive. We had a great night and will be back soon.

Lovely atmosphere and great menu, something for everyone.

About the 3rd time we have visited unfortunately we were to late for lunch but the coffee and home made cakes/buns were delicious. Called infor coffee and I have to say the scone ihadwas delicious and it washriped with very generous serving of cream and jam.

Very much enjoy visits to Thyme Kitchen - for brunch. Nice venue and lovely food with friendly staff, attentive to all customers’ needs. Might be nice if the menu included omelette options (with salad or chips?) for customers visiting over lunch period maybe?? Overall love going & well done dealing with HS2 roadworks for the past few months.

Beautiful surroundings, lovely staff, good selection of delicious food, veggie and vegan options, fair trade coffee, enormous naughty cakes, reasonable prices. Great place to go for lunch - or better still, go for coffee and stay for lunch!

Visited the Thyme Kitchen for brunch earlier today and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Great quality food, friendly and attentive staff and the perfect atmosphere to match. Compliments to the chef!

The full English was superb, excellent quality and very tasty, the pesto baked eggs were also, would definitely order both again. Lovely staff and super coffee too. Well done!!! X

Visited for afternoon tea and morning coffee several times. Cinnamon buns are to die for! Afternoon tea selection delicious and fresh. Service friendly and helpful. Lovely!

Had to wait 30 mins for a sandwich.. well, I mean, before we could order it and another 20 mins for it to come.. was told about delay. but think should give a discount on drinks while waiting.. maybe can prebook it but not sure how to.. seems long time for a sandwich.. but the food was nice and staff friendly

Spur of the moment to call for light snack. Very friendly and efficient staff. Excellent tea and large, freshly made scone with clotted cream and jam. Sure to return.

Four of us had a delicious brunch here today, the service was friendly and the granola and full English were delicious. However 2 of us asked for 1 piece of granary toast and 1 piece of sourdough toast and was delivered of 4 of each. 8 pieces of toast. We were then charged £9 for the toast! The servers should have explained that one toast is 4 pieces…as we’d clearly not order 8 pieces of toast for 2 people! Feel a little ripped off. Other than that - all good!

We hosted a baby shower here on Sunday! The service and food were great - we hired a room within the restaurant and thyme were really accommodating letting us get in early to decorate etc. Thanks again for a lovely afternoon!

A place to return to again and again and again. Edible flowers are everything! The place is cozy, lovely and relaxed.. Food is 👌👌👌👌👌 will be back for more.

Forgotten how lovely this place is - the last time we visited was PC (Pre Covid). We'd been experiencing a bit of local retail therapy and suddenly had that urge for a tea and cake. We were lucky to find an empty table as it was packed. The cake choice was an easy one as the Cinnamon Buns were staring at me on the counter. The only mistake was sharing just one. 😋

I’m sad I didn’t take a photo but having enjoyed the brunch options and Sunday lunch options, while out with my mom I tried the chicken sandwich on the lunch menu. Best. Sandwich. Ever. 🥰 do it. The taste was amazing and quantity of ingredients so good 😘

What an amazing breakfast! I've just had the Herby Corn Fritters and they really were amazing. Now, this is not my usual breakfast choice but so glad I did as it wasthe best breakfast in living memory. Honestly! incredible!!

I went to Thyme Kitche for their Sunday roast, which has a very good local reputation. The party was 5 adults with one child. The restaurant itself is very clean, warm and welcoming with a home kitchen feel. The staff are very friendly, and are very hard working, clearly taking an interest in your time there. The food is excellent, with the beef roast (which I had) being excellent. Portion size perfect, and cooked perfectly, we were well satisfied. The child's portion was substantial, and not the usual rush job usually found in other places. Desserts are equally excellent with the cinnamon rolls being my favourite. The tab was very good value and I would invite anyone who is interested, to go.and have a look. Book first though, as they are popular. Happy to provide a 5* review, and will be attending again when I am next in the area.

The menu is always interesting. My chicken & mushroom pie was served in a shallow dish with pie crust balanced on top. No need to 'dig' into a deep dish. Large pieces of chicken breast and button mushrooms. All delivered with a cheerful smile. Excellent value in a warm and comfortable environment. Thanks Thyme Kitchen.

Lovely place. I only had a coffee today but i was watching all the lovely food coming out. My friend had lemon and thyme cake which looked lovely. I have previously eaten here and would definitely recommend. A little expensive so only a treat for me.

Ordered toast and coffee. Toast arrived quickly. No plates, knives or marmalade came, had to chase up. Long wait for coffee, by the time it arrived, toast was cold. Cafe was not that busy at the time.

Made a quick visit shortly before they closed, but friendly staff made us feel welcome. Although we only had coffee and cake, the roast lunches on offer looked terrific. A pleasant setting.

Slow service, loud music, cold poor quality overpriced food. Served normal milk to a vegan despite requesting oat milk. My breakfast naan looked like the bread had been bought from Tesco and the rest just thrown on top. Presentation was not good and for the price it should have been a lot better! I’ve had better breakfasts for less than half the price and it didn’t take over an hour for food to arrive. Shocking service.

Popped in for breakfast on 4.10.22. The whole place looked lighter and brighter than when we last visited. Ordered the Thyme Kitchen Breakfast, Poached Eggs on toast with bacon, an Americano and a pot of tea. All the staff were very friendly and professional and the food arrived promptly, well prepared and hot. The poached eggs (both orders) were excellent, as were the mushrooms (not soaked and tasteless as in some other places!). We both enjoyed all our order (even the difficult to open HP sauce sachet, which the staff helped to remedy). The whole experience was extremely positive and we look forward to our next visit.

Honestly, I can not recommend this venue highly enough. I arranged a baby shower here for my wife yesterday and everyone had a fantastic time. The venue itself is stunning and the food was fantastic. I have to say though that it’s the staff that really help raise this venue, but everyone is extremely friendly and helpful, even despite the baking heat they all work tirelessly to make sure everyone is happy and they remained professional throughout! In the run up to the event I had many extremely pleasurable conversations with Anya who ensured everything was taken care of. I really cannot thank everyone enough and we’re looking forward to coming back for some food and drink again soon…without the stress and the 30 degree heat! Haha. Thank you again

Good place for coffee and snacks. They do much more though and I notice many people go for meals. Standout are the friendly staff who do everything they can to make you stay, no matter how short a pleasant experience. Recent redecorations since the pandemic are very pleasant.

Went for breakfast Sunday morning, we had breakfast naan and a full English.Two hot drinks and two orange juices .The nan was very tough(like leather) topping was nice .But rather pricey for what we had (£38).To put this into prospective, we had a three course meal,cheese board and several drinks.At a very well known Italian restaurant in the town,and paid just under £100.So can't recommend the thyme kitchen .Because the food wasn't that amazing, service was very slow and not very good value.

The wife and I stopped here purely by chance for a quick coffee on the way home and therefore my rating doesn't relate to the food. However from what I saw of other diners' meals and the attitude of the staff, it suggests that this off the beaten track restaurant could be a force to be reckoned with. I look forward to eating here sometime soon. As for the coffee, I assume it's from a machine, if it is I might just buy one.

We were lucky enough to win a competition for breakfast for two delivered with prosecco and oj, which was a great surprise. Food arrived still hot and was a brilliant start to our Sunday. Particularly enjoyed the sausages and extra beans. Many thanks to all and we look forward to visiting in the near future!
