Never go there, zero customer service had to ask for menu after 15 minutes chose then told that wasn't on meal offer and gave us another menu another long wait had to wave at them to take order went out of their way to avoid eye contact No garden peas. When fish chips came got piece of flat bread! Asked for bread and butter brought plates with two slices thin sliced white bread still half frozen not even cut in half and rock hard. butter There was 3 staff but most of time they were hiding away to stop having to serve. They were in polite heard them bring food to one table and say" there you are" We await what happens at breakfast tomorrow Premier Inn need to be reading these reviews and do some customer training

When we checked in too our room at the Premier Inn in which this restaurant is located, we were welcomed to dine at the Thyme Bar & Grill restaurant but were not notified of the need to reserve a table. We arrived downstairs for 7 o'clock, and were told there would be no table for us until 8:45. We took the available reservation for that time, and decided to spend that hour and 45 minutes in the bar. We were sat at the closest table to the entrance from the bar to the restaurant and saw very few people enter or leave on this time period, yet they claimed to be entirely reserved in this time. When we were finally sat, we saw that there were more empty tables in the restaurant that filled tables (which were not filled in the entire time that we were there). We were seated at one of the three booths in the back, and the booths either side of us had been seated already. It took us until half past 9 to be served, meanwhile the table for six near us had been approached 7 different times and received multiple plates of food. The tables either side of us had been seated for longer than us and was too only served at this time. It then took a further 50 minutes from order to receive our food, even though as ordered only starters and a child's meal. The restaurant was set to close at 10:30pm, and yet we were served at 10:10 after waiting for a table since 7pm. The food, while quite nice, was not worth waiting over 3 hours with a starving and upset 4 year old, an annoyed and tired teenager, and the man who has driven for 6 hours to this hotel. Extremely understaffed, under qualified and abysmal experience despite adequate food.

To start with half the menu not avaiable apparently because of Brexit ! any excuse, very poor service waited an hour for meal, then it was wrong and can you beleive a restaurant owned by a brewery had no Gordons Gin or tonic water ! they had plenty in Tesco. There is no social distancing and many people not wearing masks ,,It is always convenient to use hotel restaurant but I would avoid at all cost as there are many good restaurants in the area.

Tasteless tomatoes in a poorly presented prawn cocktail followed by very disappointing £16.99 rib-eye steak. Too thin a cut, requested medium, meant really poor and dry. Thyme needs a new chef and new butcher. Serving staff very good doing their best, very friendly.

Always eat at the Thyme restaurants if staying at a Premier Inn as they are convenient and good value. This was our first visit to this particular venue and it compares favourably with other branches. Service was attentive but unobtrusive, food arrived promptly, was well presented and plentiful. Apparently there was a new chef on the night we visited and he/she did a great job, well done! MacCauley deserves a special mention as he is an asset to the restaurant; polite, professional and happy to help with a good sense of humour (quinoa salad story). Will definitely visit again.

We tried to eat an evening meal at this restaurant but gave up on our main course arriving after 50 minutes waiting. The restaurant is misnamed it should not be 'Thyme' it should be 'Time' - because you'll need plenty of it to dine here. Starter was adequate. Cannot comment on the main course as we decided to eat in the Costs in the airport instead - 'nuff said.

Arriving relatively late in the evening at the Premier Inn after a long journey we decided to use the Thyme restaurant at the hotel. The staff were efficient and friendly and we were quickly shown to our table. The layout is clean and functional. The menu is not particularly extensive but has the usual favourites. There is also an adequate selection of drinks. I chose the duck wings in hoisin sauce which was tasty and of ample proportions, For main I chose the gammon which was served with chips egg and pineapple which again ticked all the boxes. The staff were friendly and efficient and at the end of the meal the bill was presented to us in a timely manner. In principle this is a no frills budget restaurant perfect for a quick filling meal at the end of a long day

Last night my husband and I stopped here whilst visiting the local area. We booked a table at the restaurant when checking in. On entering the restaurant I made the person greeting us aware of our reservation. I felt from the way he looked at his list, there was no reservation. We were however seated quickly. The person who showed us to our seats, made us aware of the soup and told us the chef recommend the rib eye steak (just happened to be the most expensive item on theme). I asked for a glass of my favourite wine, but was told they had been down to their last bottle the day before so could they recommend another wine that was over £1 more expensive per glass. I said I would choose a different wine if they didn't have the one I wanted. We ordered our meals, my husband opting for the fish and chips with bread and butter. when our meals came his came without the bread and butter, and I wanted some dressing for my salad. We called the waitress over and asked for the additional items. Meanwhile I started on my crustless quiche. I discovered that it was still cold in the middle. When the waitress returned with the bread and butter I explained that my food was cold. She huffed and I found myself apologising. She took my food back to the kitchen. My husband completely finished his meal before mine came out. I have to say though it tasted very nice and was piping hot, and there was dressing on the salad. After I had finished my meal wee ordered coffees, which were fine. The bill came, and there was no offer of discount, or any other promotion for our trouble. My husband paid the bill, but did not tip. I noticed as he was paying that I had been right in the first instance there was no booking in the restaurant at the time we had requested. Over all a disappointing experience.

Greeted and shown to our table and order taken (no problems here) After we'd finished our main meals, Anna came and took our plates away but didn't even ask us if we wanted a dessert or coffee menu or bill. We sat and waited thinking maybe after a few minutes of her taking the plates away she'd come back but she didn't. She just stayed stood at the till down the other end of the restaurant with the other girl with long dark hair. I had to call Anna over and say we weren't happy no one had bothered to offer us this service as we did want to order some liquor coffees. A standard we're used to and receive in most restaurants you go to (or at least you should) she gave us the menus and we ordered. Bad customer service skills in our opinion when you have to ask to order your next course.

I've been working away from home now for the last 9 weeks and stayed in this premier inn every week, Monday to Friday. The company i work for spends well in excess of £1500 A week on our accommodation and providing breakfast and evening meal for 5 of us..........and tonight certainly is the top of the iceberg. We sat down at 19.30 and finally got our mains at 21.20. It's a absolute joke. It's as though as soon as it starts to get a little busy, the management and kitchen just crumble under the pressure. I'm sorry but if you can't handle the pressure of a part busy restaurant, you're in the wrong job. There was many empty tables tonight and it still went pear shaped. My manager even left and went to bed before his meal come as he had gone last hunger. When complaining to the duty manager (don't know his name, the guy with the beard), he just apologises then disappears. It's as though he vanishes to avoid further complaints and leaves the waitresses to bear the brunt of unhappy customers. But nothing ever comes of the complaints, he has given my work colleague a number to ring and complain to. This isn't the first time that we have been waiting for nearly 2 hours, it has happened around 10 times in the 9 weeks so far. Due to the location of the hotel and restaurant, many customers won't return as they will be staying purely because of the airport. If anything, I'd seriously suggest staying and eating elsewhere if you are going to be here for a number of times. I don't think they know the meaning of 'customer retention'...............

This Premier Inn has quite a small dining area and although there’s a dining room and lounge/bar area it was full by the time we were seated. They do allow you to take food up to your room though so you do have that option.Bearing in mind how full the restaurant was, our food didn’t take long to come and despite making a few changes to the standard menu fare, it all came exactly as ordered piping hot and really delicious. The only slight comment I would make is that the mixed grill was quite small from what you would normally expect to receive.

Checked in early evening and headed to the restaurant with two hungry young children. Our waiter was courteous and friendly, however the quality of the food was poor. We stayed at the Premier Inn and used this restaurant for dinner & breakfast. Our first impression on entering was that the restaurant looked clean & welcoming, but what we didn't expect was the fantastic customer service that we received. Every member of staff was friendly & helpful & that included the chef & the lady who was clearing the tables at breakfast. A special mention for Petar who was our main waiter, I have to eat gluten free meals & Petar could not have been more helpful, he sat down & discussed & checked items on the menu & made suggestions about the way the food was prepared to make it suitable for me. Thank you Petar much appreciated. Now onto the food itself, we were very impressed with the quality & value both at dinner & breakfast. The food was piping hot and the wait was just right.Although we have no plans at present to stay at the Premier Inn we are planning to take a family member to the restaurant in the near future. We could find no fault and highly recommend.

The food is reasonable for the type of establishment, after all it's only a Premier Lodge. The staff are delightful, however they are overwhelmed as there aren't enough of them to cope with the numbers of customers, which results in shambolic service. We had to order drinks twice after waiting 20 minutes , the order appeared to get lost! The waitress was rushing so much she dropped my sister in laws steak meal and it went all down her clothing and over the floor, we had finished eating when a replacement meal was brought, yes the waitress was full of apologies, but no reduction on the bill for the very greasy clothing my sister in law endured ! It's convenient and that's about it

This was the second time we have used the restaurant while flying to/from Southampton. The first time, we were staying at the Premier Inn and were amazed at the quality and value of the food and service. By far the best Whitbread restaurant brand we have experienced, based on our many stays at Premier Inns. On this second occasion, we were not actually staying at the hotel and there is no apparent way of paying for less than 24 hours in the car park but a quick word with reception gave us a voucher to put on the dashboard to cover our two-hour stay for the meal. The service was as attentive and friendly as at our previous stay and the value for money is fabulous. We had a massive piece of gammon with a plateful of extras for £8.50 and, by luck, we arrived during happy hour and got two drinks for the price of one! We had one of the shared desserts (£6.50 from memory) and it was so immense, we just had to take a photograph. Chocolate heaven!!!!!Even if you're not using the airport, this is a great restaurant with great wine, beer (Brewdog's Punk IPA), food and service. Highly recommended.

We met a friend, who was on a stopover at the hotel, for a meal in the bar. The first thing we noticed was that the floor was sticky with spilt drinks. Our friend saw us and we found an empty table. Empty of customers, but not dirty dishes. There were no clean tables available. We decided on our meals and went to the bar to order. There was a queue of six people waiting to be served by one member of staff. Each item ordered had to be entered onto the till and this took ages.We ordered 1 starter (as a main with salad) and 2 main meals. The barman taking our order had to have the request for a starter to be served as a main meal explained 3 times. It seemed to be beyond his comprehension. A waiter came to pour some drinks for the restaurant and advised that one of the meals would take 15-20 minutes to cook, which we were happy with. However, this waiter didn't offer to assist in serving the bar customers. On returning to the table, my wife asked if we could get some napkins to wipe the tomato ketchup from our table. A waiter had removed the dirty dishes, but still no tables were cleaned. At this point a lady sat at the table next to us.After 20 minutes, the starter was brought to the table. No sign of the salad or the other meals. We managed to attract the attention of the 2nd staff member and asked for the rest of the meal. He returned with some salad in a tumbler shaped container(?). We enquired about the other meals and after visiting the kitchen he said the message hadn't reached there. When the meals were served, there were no complaints about the quality or quantity. Average fare for this kind of establishment, if a little pricey. When we had finished our meals I had to speak to the lady on the next table who had kept looking in expectation at the waiters. She was still waiting to be served after waiting nearly an hour. We called a waiter who apologised and asked what she had ordered. 10 minutes later a waitress asked the lady what she had ordered. Eventually after a 70 minute wait, she was served her burger. The waiter said sorry but made no offer of anything else by way of an apology until we suggested he might like to give the lady a drink."Oh yes!", he said, and made the offer.I visited the gents while waiting for my meal and found it to be as neglected as the bar floor and tables.Overall, a disappointing experience, particularly the standard of cleanliness. There were at least 4 or 5 members of staff on duty, but none of them had any dynamism about them to get the place working properly. If I were to use the hotel, I would avoid the restaurant.

We'd booked to eat at this particular restaurant purely because we were flying in from Jersey in the late afternoon/early evening, wouldn't have a car, and needed to eat! We knew booking on that basis could go one way or the other - but it definitely went the right way! Staff were very friendly - I don't often leave tips beyond the bare minimum, but on this occasion I was happy to do so. Nothing was too much trouble, especially as we had to change the time of our booking due to late arrival caused by the NATS (Air Traffic Control) computer failure that day. They would also have provided us a sandwich option if we'd been delayed beyond the restaurant closing time, which was good to know. The amount of food you get per portion is more than adequate - we couldn't finish it all! We most certainly didn't need starters or puddings either (although puddings looked very good, based on what other tables had ordered!).We'd definitely eat at Thyme again, either at this hotel if staying there again on our way in/out of Jersey, or at another Premier Inn. It's not 'haute cuisine' in terms of the selection of food, but then it doesn't claim to be. But it does all the usual things like steak, ribs, curry, fish and chips, chicken dishes, vegetarian options, and plenty of them.If you're using the Southampton Airport Premier Inn, and can't travel beyond it to eat, it's certainly good at what it does in the way that it does it.

maybe it was just a bad night, but welcome was good, and the issues I raised were dealt with very well by the team. However most of the food including my duck parcels appeared to have been microwaved or reheated, I do not always mind this but please confirm it on the men somewhere. My Salmon arrived grilled to death, very dry inside, this had to be returned, as mentioned dealt with very well, a full replacement meal in process, the Salmon came out a second time, not as bad as the first and just about edible as it retained some moisture, but the bottom skin was so hard it was like cardboard, and the vegetables supplied with it were so hot they were microwaved. So not the best of experiences, should have been and could have been a whole lot betterSo if you wish something cooked not microwaved maybe the good old burger is the best choice, presume they are unable to re-heat those. So not impressed

if you want to eat in the restaurant .. however save time and eat in the bar .. it's quicker with the same menu, same staff .. having eaten here 3-4 times in the past week we can give this a thumbs up very pleasant .. also note they will provide all items from the menu to take and eat in your room ..

The food was very well cooked and reasonably priced for an evening meal. The Salmon was very tasty and there was a choice of salad if you didn't like chips. We did however find a small slither of glass on the table which was quickly taken away by the staff when we pointed it out to them.

Food was fine, nothing special. Servers are though! Young and helpful for two ole timers, one of the chef's was good enough to even blend special foods for us for special needs guest. Pretty limited menu unless you can eat anything. Breakfast was typical...like eating at Dennys

Food ok. Staff pleasant. Bit characterless. Kids food good. All quite nice. Had the premier inn meal deal which I would do again as it was quite expensive to eat there and we save about £20 that way.

we stayed here for 2 nights and had a very good breakfast each morning. The staff were welcoming and worked hard to keep the food topped up and fresh (it was a buffet). We also used the bar which was comfortable on one evening.

We stayed here for 4 nights to visit the local area, including Paultons Park. The breakfast was very good, lovely selection of croissants, jam, cereals including granola, muesli, special k, weetabix, rice crispies, coco pops, freshly cooked full breakfast to help yourself to as much as you would like to eat and also a large selection of drinks from fruit juices to hot drinks, including a Costa Coffee machine and various fruit tea.My only complaint would be that the tables remained full of dirty plates for a long time each morning and we had to constantly ask for things to be replenished including milk, teaspoons, croissants and jam. The bacon also ran out this morning as (so the waitress told us) they forgot it was the school holidays and so it was busy. Would return to this premier inn and have breakfast here again.

I had dinner here as I was staying in the hotel. The staff are charming and the drinks fine but the food is absolutely terrible. I wasn't expecting anything incredible but I was expecting edible home cooking. My food was dry, burned and dull. I can't recommend this place.

Great staff, always seem pleased to help and with the Mighty Eva over seeing the smooth running of everything, I've never had or seen anyone with any issues about the food or service. As work put me on the meal deal the selections get a bit limited but in order to spice things up, the staff now know just to choose what they fancy for me

Had a meal here last night as we are staying at this Premier Inn. We had the deep fried mushrooms with a gorgeous mustardy mayo and lovely homemade coleslaw, followed by the veggie burger and chips. All very tasty and decent helpings too. Very friendly staff here and a well-stocked bar!

Long wait, food barely hot, and not up to standard. Basically insufficient staff or restaurant accommodation to cope with numbers in the hotel. Not good enough in spite of budget price.

We were staying in the Premier Inn in for a couple of nights so decided to eat here on the first night as was 7pm when we arrived. We did the meal deal which includes breakfast & a 3 course meal & a drink for just £22.99! All the food was very nice and nicely presented. I had breaded mushrooms then rump steak with a cheese & bacon rarebit then caramel apple crumble whilst my partner had chicken wings then chicken salsa burger and cheesecake. Our daughter ate from the kids menu which was £5.25 for 3 courses and great value again. My only small gripe is that they still don't offer a cider choice on the drinks but apart from that all good.

Ate breakfast here on a Saturday morning while staying in the adjacent hotel. Good choice, all nice quality food, but staff were rushed off their feet! Plates / cutlery ran out and tables were left uncleared while families queued to be seated - please put more staff on!! £8.25 all you can eat breakfast represents very good value (included hot buffet, continental and coffees / teas / fruit juices) and kids eat free under 16 years old is a very nice touch.

Met relatives who were staying at Premier for dinner. Pleasant atmosphere, not too crowded (Tuesday eve), Ordered the Margarita Pizza which was very nice. Orderded Profiteroles for dessert. The other diners deserts arrived and were eaten, mine still had not arrived turned out they had forgotten. They apologised and brought them out but really was a bit too late. Prices were ok considering its location nexf to the airport. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Likely to only eat an evening meal here if using the airport and having a stop-over at the Premier Inn. In these circumstances, the food was reasonable and the menu sufficient to meet one night's needs - could be limited if staying for longer.A little expensive for what was provided, but ok.Should have had the breakfast as Premier Inn breakfasts are good and the breakfast in the airport was far more expensive for a lot less.

Very nice on-site restaurant, BUT it is very small so I would say to book in advance, we did when we checked in so had no problems. Normal pub type menu but the food came out in good time and was lovely. Drink were reasonable and the staff were friendly and chatty. Breakfast was an all you can eat buffet, which was again really lovely and also starts really early if you need to get off. Very good overall.

Decent restaurant and good value which it has to be as there is nothing else close. Only problem is that it is quite small and struggles to handle the number of guests in the hotel so I advise booking. Good menu choice, well cooked and pleasant staff.Breakfast is a bit of bun fight again because the room is small, you tend to have to wait for a table to be cleared, no good if you are in a rush.Bar is the same as above, same menu but again - not very big with not many tables.

Stayed at the hotel and used the 3 course meal deal.Excellent duck parcels to start, and the other courses were also well presented. Bottle of Jacobs Creek wine at £10.99 on wine of month deal complemented it perfectly.Don't bother to go elsewhere if you are staying at the Premier Inn.

We recommend that if you stay at the (Premier Inn) hotel, you purchase the meal deal voucher to dine at the Thyme Restaurant at the same time when you book the hotel room. For £22 per person , the meal deal voucher gives you 3 courses (including a 10 oz chargrilled rump steak - really succulent) and wine or drink. In addition to that, the Meal Deal also includes a hot English Buffet breakfast the following morning. The staff at this restaurant are generally efficient and friendly. You can expect service with a smile. It has been a very pleasant experience for us dining here.

Good, varied choice of food and drink, including nice looking pizzas, at reasonable prices. Not haute cuisine - you might be disappointed, for example, with some of the cooked sauces. But overall a good experience for a low budget airport hotel.

We booked the £22 premier inn meal deal. Both breakfast and evening meal were excellent. Only extremely minor criticism was that on both days our 1st choice of childrens meal was unavailable. Overall great food for good prices.

Avoid the chicken burger is all I can say. It is tastless and badly prepared. Just a lump of dry chicken with square inch of lettuce and half a thin slice ot tomato on a watery bun. You get coleslaw if you are lucky.

We decided to try the restaurant- it had a good selection of beers, the views were good ( perhaps a few too many yachts! lol ) We had seafood linguini and chicken fajitas. Both were well presented, cooked to perfection, and generous in portion. The person serving was very pleasant, informative, and helped us understand what else was in the area. A great experience
