Chips were lovely but overpriced we used to visit a lot but at 29.00 for one pork cob which was average and two portions of homemade chips and two drinks was just to steep for purchase. It would have to be a treat to return at 6.00 for chips which would only feed one. We will have to say reluctant to return as better elsewhere for the money.

We used to visit every two weeks but the new people have put up prices about 50% and they no longer have a child's menu sorry but we will now only visit occasionally as pensioner's we are on a limited budget maybe they would prefer only employed people who have an unlimited budget

Three Horse Shoes looks from the outside as an old mans pub, inside and including the beer garden its a good place for a pint. TV showing football as well.

This pub was brought back from the brink a few years ago now and the landlord has turned into a lively pub that is close to packed on Friday and Saturday evenings I don't know whether complacency is setting in or something else but there is no choice of draught dark beers. The only thing that comes close is Doom Bar but that is so badly kept it is undrinkable. No one seems to care - the punters keep rolling in drinking lager and pale beers so why should anyone bother? A real shame

Very busy. Advised 30 min wait for food before ordered. Ordered panini and sandwches. Food served by very polite young man. Food fresh, well presented.

Visited here for some Live Music at the beginning of December. Lively crowd of mixed ages and a good little pub to be honest. It doesn't serve food as it evidently doesn't need to, which makes a refreshing change.

I have been a real ale drinker for twenty years and a person that enjoys the occasional drink. I decided to try this public house. The drink I received was of poor standard, basically having knowledge in the pub industry the pump had obviously not been cleaned and this shown on taste. I asked for the drink to be exchanged for another, the staff was very rude and refused stating their policy is drink what you buy. If you like a good drink of real ale stay well clear of this public house as there are many better ones in the town centre that serve better beer and much friendly staff

I visited the Three Horse Shoes today for an impromptu mini wake. I believe that the pub has recently been done up and it is not a pub that I would ever thought of visiting before but I would certainly visit again. The staff were extremely accommodating and friendly. There was a good choice of beers and the food was excellent, although only bar snacks, they were very nicely presented and great quality, especially as they use bread from Stacey's the local bakery. I wish the new owners every success at this pub and hope that they can make a good go of it.

Born and bred in Ilkeston I've visited this pub a number of times in the past but having moved out of the immediate area have only frequented the establishment a couple of times in the last two years. The pub has certainly improved over the years and has now a modern and fresh appeal to it. There is a spacious enclosed rear yard with a wonderful little 'snug' outbuilding, small parking area on the front of the premises, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Although not strictly in the centre of the town it always seems very popular.

Been coming back here for years - always top class food and service. Steaks are to die for - not the cheapest but definitely worth it. Fish and chips excellent. I love the sticky toffee pudding but other desserts brilliant too.. Only tiny criticism - the menu hardly ever changes but this is a plus point too as the all of the food on the menu is top class.

Totally refurbished pub (since I last visited many year's ago) serving a great range of beers/ales. Pub is well decorated with quite a large bar area, a small lounge area and outside seating at the back/side.

We stayed here after a party 22/03 Would not recommend for the price, we paid £80 for a family room. No guards on any of the beds, there was a big mirror just leant against the wall, dangerous when you have children. Pillows was as flat as anything, the kettle wasnt near a socket on the table so plugged in on the floor, again not ideal when you have children. The shampoo / conditionor / body wash was an all in one. Cups were chipped, mattresses weren’t comfy, light bulbs was dim and not maintained.. Poor foe the price.

Concerning animal welfare standards: I don’t like to be negative, but when it comes to animal welfare, I believe it’s important to speak up and spread awareness. Having been in the animal industry for over five years, I was saddened by what I saw today. I completely agree with a review from eight months ago, which highlights concerns that still haven't been addressed—showing a clear lack of progress despite multiple visitors pointing out the same issues. The enclosures are far too small for many of the animals. While the opportunity to feed them is a nice touch, there should be clear signage indicating what animals can be fed what. From what I saw, the feed buckets given out contained a large amount of carrot and lettuce, which children were feeding indiscriminately to all the animals. Clear guidance would help ensure that the animals are receiving appropriate food that suits their dietary needs. The ducks were confined to a tiny child’s paddling pool with only an inch of filthy water, far from the clean, natural environment they need. The peacock had so little space that it could barely display its feathers without hitting the top of the enclosure. The pigs had very little bedding, raising concerns about their comfort and enrichment. One of the most concerning things I witnessed was the geese attempting to drink from dirty water, but they kept sneezing as if they were struggling with its quality. This is a clear sign that their environment is not being maintained to a suitable standard. Additionally, the flooring in nearly all the enclosures was just mud. While I understand that mud can be an issue on farmland, especially in wet conditions, it would be beneficial to incorporate straw bedding to help keep the animals warmer and more comfortable. The lack of suitable substrate made many of the enclosures appear bleak and unwelcoming. Another major concern was the complete lack of visible enrichment in the enclosures. There were no toys, structures, or natural features to stimulate the animals, making the spaces look bare and the animals appear bored. Providing enrichment is essential for both physical and mental well-being, and its absence only adds to the sense that welfare standards are not being met. I truly hope that steps are taken to improve these conditions. I would much rather pay an entry fee if it meant seeing animals in well-maintained, spacious environments where their welfare is prioritised. As it stands, I would not recommend visiting if you have empathy for other living beings. I wish I would've taken more pictures but I did get a picture of the 'pond' in the Wildfowl enclosure, there are more reviews similar and pictures showing the environment.

Brilliant potential with new owner. Willing to challenge what beers they should sell. We look forward to what they do in the future
