Poor table service. Overpriced poor food. Menu not as advertised on website. Staff not happy when questioned about menu. Terrible service. Shame as used to be a lovely wee cafe.

Really surprised to read all the poor reviews. We visited Loch Lomond and wanted to eat before going to the bird of prey centre nearby. The welcome was lovely, we were served quickly and the food was served after a very short wait. Five of us had jacket potatoes and one had a breakfast roll. The jackets were huge and piping hot and we could choose if they were served with crisps or salad. We all chose salad which was lovely and served with a delicious dressing. The bill came to £47 for 6 meals and 6 drinks which was very reasonable. Everyone was very friendly and we couldn't fault the service. I wouldn't hesitate to return. We were too full up for cakes afterwards but they had a very appetising selection.

Had lunch today. Toastie with a lovely salad. Lovely variety of cakes, pleasant staff who were very obliging. Thornton’s chocolates no longer within the cafe. It was busy both outside seats and takeaway. Prices much cheaper than the Frasers cafe and with “normal” fillings for Toasties Wraps and Sandwiches.

We had stopped in at the Trossachs centre for a look around the shops. This seemed to be the only place to eat so thought we would grab something. When I seen that it was Thornton’s cafe, I presumed that it was Thornton’s chocolate, and that perhaps they would have nice cakes/coffee. They did seem to have half the cafe set out as a Thornton’s store, although it seemed to be closed. I’m not sure if this was due to Covid, or if perhaps we went in too late. The cakes for sale were cheap and individually wrapped, definitely not homemade. I ordered a toastie, cake and coffee. My husband tried the hotdog. Although he enjoyed his hotdog, my toastie was served with wotsit crisps that had obviously been lying out for a while. The cake was dry and coffee, awful. This cafe has such potential, but just hasn’t had much thought/care gone into it. Very basic and sadly, I won’t be back.

We hoped there would be a marked improvement from our previous visit, but sadly this was not the case. The prices were very high, and the quality of the coffee and cake was not good. There was also no cutlery or napkins where we were directed to. Not a recommended choice to stop at!

Have read some of the recent reviews and to be honest it seems like I experienced a different cafe.Surroundings were clean but basic. Food was fresh and cheap, to be honest amazing value given the overpriced eateries in immediate vicinity. Basic cafe food. Menu is a mix of sandwiches and toasties etc... Nothing fancy. It's cheap and cheerful but hits the spot. Service was basic but sufficient given how busy they were and the amount we paid. Good for a cafe snack stop whilst out walking but not appropriate for those looking for a dining experience.

Like other visitors we probably thought of the Thornton brand. The food and coffee were ok, but we didn't get a friendly welcome. All the time other customers were complaining about the service or their orders to staff. Not a pleasant place to have a sit down and spot of lunch. We did find some good deals on Thornton's chocolates at the other end of the cafe.

This used to be an excellent cafe, which was well worth visiting, but sadly it has fallen on very hard times - The food and coffee were both poor, and could not recommend visiting again - Not worthy of the Thornton name!

First and last visit to this cafe, we expected better from the Thorntons name. The first thing I noticed was the smell at the counter, it smelled like a dirty mop, it had obviously been wiped with a dirty cloth, I put this down to an oversight as the cafe was busy but unfortunately things did not improve. Our coffee and hot chocolate were lukewarm and very sickly sweet before sugar had been added, the cakes were dry. The toilets did not look as though they had been cleaned that day and had no paper. The walls in the cafe had dirty marks on them, the tables were tatty and needed wiped and the door to the staff area had greasy and dirty marks all over it. the whole place felt as though it needed a good clean. The staff seemed uncaring. We walked out. What a dreadful advert for a beautiful tourist spot.

Service incredibly slow. One staff member yawning (sorry, are we keeping u awake?). Our table was for 4 but only if you were the size of a hobbit. Just got 2 of us at the table and still a bit of a squeeze. Coffee dreadful and heard a neighbouring table complaining about the state of the toilets. Sounds like I dodged a bullet there. Opted to used Loch Lomond shores toilet itself which was spotless. First experience of Thorntons cafes and will be the last.

I have visited this cafe a few times, and always had a good experience. This Sunday i took my kids to have lunch. I ordered a cheese and ham toastie, and my two kids wanted the pie and beans. After 5 minutes, the food arrived. My toastie was just acceptable, but only warm, but the kids pies were frozen in the middle, not cooked at all. Complaied to the staff, and was told it would be resolved in 2 minute. 15 minutes later, id finished my toastie, and the pies wenent there. Another complaint at the counter, and told they were ready now, and would be over right away. the pips in the microwave confirmed this. the serving girl apologized again, and gave the kids a wee bag of chocolates as an apology. Sadly, it really ruined the lunch for me, as we did not eat together. Just under 15 pounds for a lukewarm, nearly cooked toastie, and 2 frozen pies with a scraping of beans, was frankly ridiculous. Never returning to this terrible cafe. Look at my previous reviews to show that I am not normally one to criticize unduly.

Our walking group visited after a fine walk up from Dumbarton. Food was just about ok, but service was very offhand indeed. Not what we expect in an iconic tourist location and a major brand like Thorntons! Disappointing.

About 1300hrs on Tuesday 21st April 2015 I visited this café with my girlfriend for a spot of lunch. On arrival we ordered two paninis, two coffees (cappuccinos) and two carrot cakes. We paid the £15 odd and were given our coffees and cake and were told our sandwiches would be brought over to us shortly. We took a seat and five minutes went past, then ten, then fifteen. We noted the table next to us, which were there three people at, had arrived before us and were talking about not having received their sandwiches. One of them went up to complain and were assured it wouldn't be much longer. Another few minutes passed, no food arrived at our table or the table next to us. We then noted the table in front of us appeared to be increasingly annoyed too. They'd arrived after us and had been waiting ten minutes and their sandwiches hadn't arrived either. We were so hungry we started eating our carrot cake. To our disbelief there were two tables who'd arrived after us and they were served their paninis before us or the other two tables besides us that had all been waiting much longer. I saw the woman at the next table complain about hers again and ask for a refund, she was informed it would be right out and eventually theirs arrived - but not before they'd served up sandwiches to people who had arrived after both them and us! There was still no sign of ours so I asked the waitress for a refund. She was a non native English speaker and couldn't fully understand me. I went to the till and asked for a refund. I got one and was given no apology. The explanation given was they'd lost my order despite having watched the server place the sandwiches in the prep area when we'd paid for them). The place wasn't even particularly busy. It was obvious there were several other people around just as hacked off with the dire service as we were. We took our refund to another cafe and ate elsewhere. Oh, and the coffee wasn't made or presented right. Tasted rubbish. The one saving grace was the delicious carrot cake! The whole unpleasant experience lasted over half an hour. Avoid!

Visited today with my parents and my 5 year old son. It was busy and they hadn't cleaned the one empty table we found but we cleared it ourselves We queued for about 15 - 20 minutes and ordered 3 toasties, 2 cups of coffee and a pot of tea. It came to over £17.00. The girl at the counter said it would be ready in ten minutes. After 20 minutes we enquired as to where our food was. She said it was in the toaster and would be ready soon. Someone brought the drinks but no apology. After a further 15 minutes we said that we had had enough and that we wanted our money back (my little boy was getting very restless). We were told the food was ready. When they brought it, the bread wasn't properly toasted and for £17.00, the quality was atrocious. When we complained again there was no apology and no offer to compensate (they did refund one of the toasties which we returned untouched). Worst thing was that they said that everyone else had been made to wait and nobody else had made a complaint! Seems like we were just suppose to accept poor service as the norm. This is my first ever post on trip advisor and I don't do it lightly, but I was so annoyed. I can accept mistakes are made etc, but to criticise us for complaining is just not acceptable. I will never go back there.

Literally the worst Starbucks I’ve ever experienced. It’s never open even if it says it is, they always close early, and the staff have serious attitude problems.

Utterly disgusting food. The kids meal was shocking. 2 overcooked sausages with 6 chips for £10 served on a side plate. Come on it’s a kids meal not a toddlers snack. Fish was overcooked so we returned. The young staff are lazy and don’t seem interested. Really is this a 5 star?? I don’t think so. It’s more a 3 star. Management should be asking why are the restaurants not busy at this time of year. Yesterday the young staff charged me a service charge for 2 drinks that I went to the bar for myself for!!! It’s absolutely ridiculous!! Come on get your act together….
