Very poor. Toilets and WC didn’t have any water to it. Beer was awful - hardly any atmosphere even though a live band was playing inside.

Very nice pub relaxed atmosphere and definitely a place to be visited on the regular. People of a mature age frequent this pub and therefore not full of young people annoying everyone. So if you like a nice pub to visit then I suggest this one.

I absolutely LOVE this pub! I especially love the historical look and feel of the place, being literally hundreds of years old, I adore the really friendly staff who're always kind and friendly even when it get's busy, really good selection of drinks at very reasonable prices and I have a great night with my group of friends every time we go there! This is why I chose it for my Gay Social Meetup group, GSM, every other week and we always have a great time! It’s so nice to be able to go to a place that’s genuinely gay friendly too, so rare these days!

Did not have any food but a nice venue

Our visits so far have been limited to football match days when it gets super busy and full of home fans. Friendly atmosphere. Historic pub. I have been hugely impressed by the friendliness and speed of service of the staff. They seem to ensure no one gets missed, and in the right order as there are multiple people queuing at the bar. The beer is nicely kept and served. Good variety. Adnams is the main bitter. Not sure if they do food. Would be very happy to return on non match days if we were in Ipswich. Lots of food places close by and the waterfront marina 5min walk away.

A good place to go for a meeting in the cosy rooms upstairs. And the beer choice is good and it's a sensible price.

Busy downstairs but with wonderful old fashioned and historic rooms upstairs with sofas and comfy chairs. Good selection beers and very good service.

A watering hole with charm and character. There are plenty of ales and beers to whet your appetite.

Went through here on a work Christmas do and had a great time. Good bar staff, fun live music, clean bathroom, and a nice crowd. Would go again, 5/5 stars

Pre footy pint - wouldn't go anywhere else ! It's always prompt service, regardless of how busy they are

Nice place with good beer for a pre - match drink but its only for Ipswich fans. Away fans need to use the Station hotel opposite the station .Service is difficult pre-match due to the number of supporters.

Limited food menu of pizzas but it is delicious. Service is always great and it’s a lovely place for a drink. Upstairs rooms are nice and quiet too

Nice atmosphere, had a quick drink before going to a nearby restaurant. The pub serve pizzas and that sort of food, sure I saw a salad on their menu. Worth a visit.

What a delight such an atmospheric pub with such hidden historical detail. A must when in Ipswich and the manager is so enthusiastic about the hidden gem that is his pub .

A visitor to Ipswich for the football and saw this pub highly recommended. Wasn't disappointed, nice atmosphere, super quick service and an excellent pint.

Interesting little pub with a good selection of ales and lagers. The pub building is absolutely beautiful with ornately carved timber to parts of the interior which would really make it feel cosy and inviting. Unfortunately someone has decided to build the most horrendous black brickwork bar which totally detracts from the rest of the building

Great pub. No food crowd here so ideal if you want a drink without the noise of kitchens and families eating etc etc

I always think this place has got loads of potential but it just doesn't do it for me. Apart from anything else, the draft beers are really dull. It's a lovely building though.

My first visit to the Thomas Wolsey and I think it will be my last... Friendly bar staff with a nice atmosphere beautiful character in the building and little rooms tucked away upstairs definitely give the old school pub vibe! Unfortunately when requesting a dark ale I was lead toward a pale ale (which after tasting seemed off) at the price point of just under £5 to say I was disappointed would be a mild understatement I was offered a replacement with a fresh pint of the same beer which obviously tasted the exact same off taste.. I then discarded the pint and tried a darker ale after guidence of a fellow customer... The beer was OK but by this point one pint had almost cost me £10.... I really liked the feel of the pub... But so disappointed with what I paid for.... I may try popping in again down the line...

Went in on the off-chance and there was a friendly welcome, a few real ales which were well kept and a comfortable atmosphere. All generally clean and quite busy for a Saturday afternoon.

This is a beautiful historic building, especially upstairs and in the outdoor seating area. Guest beers are always good quality and very good prices. This is one of the best pubs in Ipswich along with The Dove, The Fat Cat, Spread Eagle and Briarbank.

Called in for a quick drink with the family. Charged almost £40 for a large round of drinks but didn't check the bill. The barmaid came over after a few minutes and give us £4.50 back as we had been over charged. Thank you 👍

10th October was the day i knew my colour mattered. 10th October was the day i could not laugh and joke with my wife and friends about the past 18 months of fighting #cancer. If you want a library pub this is it! If you want a real pub and atmosphere do not go here! Rude barman we will never go back!

Great little bar, really pleased to see it opening post-lockdown. Friendly service and a good range of beers, wines and spirits on offer.

It's our local but is only open from 4.30pm except on match days.. Never open on Sundays doesn't serve food or coffee...great beers and wines 🙂

Love Thomas Wolsey pub. Was with work colleagues on a Christmas night out. Had good evening.

This pub is a little gem amongst the pubs on Ipswich, as it sits more towards the older side of Ipswich town centre. The staff are polite and friendly, atmosphere is pleasant, plenty of choice for alcohol. Not one of the ones that plays loud music.

Really like this bar, dogs welcome in the courtyard outside.
