Wow. Barry is the gift that keeps on giving. Unreal portion size and double cheese burger cooked to absolute perfection. All employees were so delicate and kind with such a warm community of customers. Gutted that Barry's retiring. A career in the food industry for the ages. Take a bow.

Me and my family of 6 have been coming here for years and wow, i’ve never been let down. The professionalism shown by Barry’s staff, especially recently with the 2 newest transfers has made me feel like I was back in the Navy, surfing across the ocean blue. Barry and his wife are two angels who have so much overflowing love, they have to share it with their food and community. When I told my youngest recently after she came home from school of the news, she started breaking down and I almost felt like doing the same. Barry, you outdo yourself every time I step into your fortress of a shop. The culinary champion of Ipswich.

Went here with a couple of friends after a glowing recommendation and all I can say is Barry, you are the Lionel Messi of fish and chips. What can this man not do? Cod cooked so perfectly I could not believe my tounge! Battered sausage I ate almost in one go, enough chips to last a lifetime and I'm sad they don't! Staff knew everyone's names so you could tell this is a staple of Ipswich and now he is retiring the town will never feel the same. Live long and prosper Baz!

Just thought I would head out for a dine with my friends, little did I know what was prepared to fulfill my hunger. Barry's Fish & Chips is more than just a local gem; it's a slice of community history. So as Barry hangs up his apron, his legacy of delicious, heartwarming meals will be dearly missed. Thank you, Barry, for filling our bellies and hearts with joy over the years. Came with a few friends for a quick bite and received 10 times more. Double cheeseburger was prepared with more care than a small child on their first day of school. The chips were cooked to a perfect golden brown and the portion size was more than fair. Very affordable prices, a loving community and one of the kindest and cutest teams I’ve ever come across. So sad that Barry will be retiring soon but wow, is it deserved. Good luck with retirement, you deserve the upmost rest for all your hard work.

OMG! A hidden gem in East anglia to rival the rest of the UK. I was astounded by the kindness of the gentle, understanding staff and taken aback by the delicious food. Pricing was inflation defying. Barry you have outdone yourself this time. Enjoy retirement king x🤴

Although the website stated that you were open, again we have turned up to find you closed. Most disappointing!

The good. It was edible. The chips were decent, but not amazing. The bad. Called ahead and was told 5 mins. Got there and it wasn't even on. Proceeded to wait a further 10 minutes. Luckily it wasn't busy otherwise it would have been longer. Fish batter was under cooked. Curry sauce was bland and congealed. Better off with bisto curry sauce. Microwaved on arrival. Large cod and large chips were both undersized compared to others and no cheaper.

We quite regularly have wrinkly portions and a bit of skate, it's always excellently cooked in nice clean oil /fat.

Fresh fish with a light and crisp batter and golden chips fried to perfection. Barry never disappoints. Top man with a top team.

Never usually go for fish n chip but was cold so fancied battered sausages. Asked for 2 and was told a 5 minute wait. Waited outside chatting to another customer. 15 minutes later I looked at the owner wondering why taking so long only to be told "You didn't say you wanted them"....??? Really??? So I come in and ask for you to cook 2 sausages because I don't want them????? and then stand outside for 15 minutes for fun???.....idiots.

Superb Haddock and chips, fish made while you wait. Quality very good. Covid 19 safety measures are well organised. You order by phone or at the counter, cash only payments and just 1 person in the shop at any one time. You wait outside till your order is ready.

Decent fish and chips. Got plenty of chips too! Nothing flashy, just a good chippy. During covid its best to ring first and place your order then its ready when you get there. Only downside is they only take cash.

Visited here for a quick take-away lunch as passing and not used for a number of years. Being a midweek lunchtime quiet and limited choice, but the battered sausage was well-cooked with crispy batter and the chips were light, fluffy and not at all greasy. Did notice a sign that states you should ask for boneless fish as otherwise boned fish is served for those who don't want to fiddle about with removing bones. Otherwise a very good meal and decent value.
