I visited Thomas Tosh last week while passing through Thornhill. Delighted to see that my favourite lemon and raisin cake is back on the menu, and that as always, the coffee, service and general atmosphere is good as ever! Thanks again to the staff, will be back next time I’m in the area

We were looking for a coffee break in this small town and were very pleased to find Thomas Tosh. It is located in a converted chapel😪but thankfully the building is being put to good use. Combines a cafe with rather nice gift shop and art is exhibited on the walls . A lovely place for a light lunch or coffee break . The staff were delightful Top marks

Called in to Thornhill on return trip from Genbuck Heritage village looking for somewhere for lunch. Found this little place by chance when we spotted a sign just off the main road near the village centre. The staff were very friendly and the venison burger with accompaniments was very tasty. A nice big pot of tea too. As well as the cafe it is a gallery and bookshop with an excellent selection of different books - one of which I purchased. Quality wines, teas and preserves were also on sale. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely little shop. Lots to see. Had lunch in cafe. Could do with more meat options on the menu as we aren’t veggie or vegan so it was a struggle to find something to eat. Pancakes were very good. Girl in the kitchen brought us our food. She had great customer service skills. Jasmine I think her name was.

Set in a bit of a weird town (Thornhill) but the place itself is gorgeous. Amazing gift shop, lovely gifts and smells. And the food and service in the cafe was fantastic. The café is a bit hard to find, a short distance up a side street from Thornhill's central cross. It's situated in a large, airy gift shop, formerly the town's Drill Hall. Food and coffee are both very good, with some quite unusual snack dishes on offer as well as home baking.

We hadn’t realised that this was a whole gallery and shop as well as the tea room! Lots of interesting things to look at. There’s a creative menu that’s great for people with allergies/intolerances/vegan etc. Food was tasty but at the higher end price-wise, although I’d guess this is due to quality ingredients. Service was friendly but slow; we had to ask to get menus and chase at every stage. Think it’s a real shame that staff aren’t allowed to pet dogs even thought they can come in, maybe rethink that policy to make it more welcoming.

We enjoyed coffee and a HUGE slice of Victoria sponge (my husband), hot chocolate and coffee and walnut cake (me). Some local walking books and maps. Interesting old church hall - a bit cool, but it was February, and it must be a nightmare to heat. Not from Durisdeer, very interesting church (road a bit interesting too: a ford to rejoin A702! But it was fun and not deep water.

We came across the cafe purely by chance and are so glad that we did. The service and food were both excellent - one of the best vegetable tarts I've eaten in a while, and my husband loved his homemade pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. Omg this place is top class!! Previous Michelin Star, they haven't dropped their standard. 2 or 3 course set menu, the menu had a map of Scotland titled The Larder, showing where their ingredients are sourced. I had the best Cheese Soufflé I've ever had, large for a starter and so cheesy tangy. Hubster had the salmon marinated in beetroot, on the small side but delicious. Beautifully rare lamb for main with a filo pastry black pudding, and a lamb samosa, so minty, amazing accompaniments and presentation. Hubster upgraded to a Rib Eye, said it was the best he'd ever had. Chef wasn't keen on serving it blue, but it was perfect. We were full really but couldn't resist the dessert menu. White chocolate rice pudding... omg just the best! And sticky toffee pudding. We'd mistakenly booked a bar table, and couldn't understand why we couldn't move to the restaurant as there were free tables, but the service was excellent, attentive and friendly. It was all amazing, thank you guys 👏

It's a great shame that this place will be closing shortly because the food and the staff are so lovely! Super according to a coeliac and went above + beyond in everything. Best of luck to Mr Pooks and all those involved in this little gem.
