We are regular visitors here and have always enjoyed our meals here until tonight. When you can say the jasmine tea was the best part of the meal then you know things are bad. The food just didn’t taste fresh at all. The lamb sizzling dish didn’t sizzle. All the dishes came with steam pouring off them which stunk of being microwaved. They all came out far too quickly in my opinion to be cooked fresh. It just didn’t feel like the same restaurant. A real shame as we have always recommend this place to our friends who have also been regular visitors but we will be telling them to stay well clear. Even though we told them it was awful tonight it fell on deaf ears and there was no recompense for the bad experience.

It is a little bit hidden, but about 350 meters from underground and it is my favorite thai restaurant. The thai red curry is delicious!!! Cannot recommend this restaurant enough. (Ps. I work nearby and often come here for lunch. I always thought it was pretty good, but did not realise just how good they are until I tried other Thai restaurants in London! My favourite dish is the Drunken Duck (fried with chillies and without sauce), paired with the coconut rice (slightly sweet to offset the spiciness of the duck). The food is reliably good, the service efficient, and the price reasonable. What more could you ask for?

Went here on Thursday night with two friends, as a pre-maternity leave catch up dinner. It was right around the corner from our pregnant friend's office, and her choice. It is a very small place, tucked away off a main road, but it has a good menu.We had the starter platter, which was average, and we should have probably just selected the starters we actually want, but it was a good portion. I often find Thai food starters to be underwhelming anyway, so not that fussed. One friend has a prawn noodle salad and soup, our pregnant friend had green curry and rice, and I had massaman curry and rice. They seemed to enjoy their food, but I really enjoyed mine! The lamb was so soft, it crumbled on being cut! There could have been a little more curry sauce, but that was my only criticism. We finished our meal with ice cream, because, why not?The service was attentive but not otrusive, and the bill was reasonable, £28 each with service, albeit with only 1 beer and 1 pot of tea between us.I would not cross town to come here, but as its 10 minutes from my office, I'd happily go there for the massaman curry again if I fancied some Thai food!

I have been in this place maybe 6 times over the years. It was never my No 1 preferred Thai option - that was the fantastic Thai cafe in Drury Lane close by which inexplicably closed a couple of years ago. Therefore I was forced to reacquaint myself with this place a couple of times recently, Over the years the service here has ranged from sort-of-friendly to unfriendly, but tonight (Friday)took the biscuit. I came in at 21.10 and was curtly informed I had 50 minutes. I got the distinct impression that I was not wanted and that they would have preferred no new customers - but why then be open to 22.00 if you don't want to serve customers? I sat down and enquired whether I could have a stir fry with vegetables and beancurd - standard for any Thai really - and was told i could not. I would have to have a stirfry for about £8 and then have another dish with beancurd at another £8. When I pointed out that surely it was possible to have a simple stirfry with the beancurd combined, I was told robotically and unsmilingly it was not possible "Stirfry is stirfry, neancurd is beancurd". At that point I realised it was pointless and they were just being unhelpful and unfriendly. So i told them so and left to the sound of their laughter. Don't go here.....

I have been coming to this restaurant for the last year and the staff here is so rude. The lady who served me today, said I couldn't get what I wanted from the menu and if I wanted to change chicken to vegetable (as I am a vegetarian) I had to pay extra. She also wouldn't give me a table that was empty and said it was a table for 4, so instead put us in a table near the door where it was cold and uncomfortable; 5 minutes later she gives the table to another party of two and when I asked why she didn't have an answer. She than went to her colleague and started talking about us in another language. I asked to speak to the manager which again she wouldn't tell me who that was and said I couldn't speak to anyone else. This isn't the first time I have been treated like this by the staff at this restaurant, today the experience I received was worse than the last time! They have a reasonable lunch menu which cheap entrees and cheap two course meals. I ordered the meat appetizer platter and the pad woonsen kee maw. The platter had chicken satay (excellent), fried shrimp (tasty), some sort of fish Rangoon (lightly fried and tasty), and some sort of fried bread with sesame. The pad woonsen was spicy and delicious. My wife had pad Thai and enjoyed it. My girls ate a vegetable noodle dish and enjoyed it. If you like Thai food and are by the British Museum, try this place. Thai food is well know to be light, tasty and with subtle aromas ... not the case here, it is just plain fat. Service is excruciatingly slow, so slow that to be able to take a dessert, don't arrive after 8 pm, or else it could happen that after having been given the dessert menu, the waiter takes it back telling you that it is eventually too late to be served ... gross! If you know and like good thai food- keep walking. Friends had told me about the place. I was going to go back to canton element which was great. But I like thai so thought I would try. Tom soup with shrimp was small. 4 shrimp and lots of mushrooms. I like spicy so it was good but there were lots of bits of inedible ginger and vegetables left in the broth. Inattentive. The broth was a bit off I think. Too heavy really. I ordered the appetizer sampler for two. The chicken sate was tough. The sauce not very authentic. Lots of fried times. I knew this but not very delicate. The spring rolls were simply awful. Bland. Over cooked. Over fried. Yuck. I found myself rushing to be done instead of wanting to stay and enjoy. My third visit to this little restaurant and probably the most disappointing. We usually go for one of their set menus. All started well with a tasty selection of starters. The choice of soup was chicken or sea-food. I chose the latter and the sea-food was fresh and well cooked. Then came a selection of dishes to go with rice - most of which were quite harsh on the palate, either with sour, peppery or chilli flavours. Definitely an acquired taste. This consists of a very nice platter of mixed starters followed by three main course dishes served with steamed Jasmine rice. The food was well presented and tasted very nice. The staff were attentive and we were brought additional rice very quickly when we asked for it. I chose to have the Thai torpedos for dessert which are just deep-fried bananas in batter served with a bit of syrup and cream whilst my friend opted for ice cream. Desserts were OK, no more no less, but no one really goes to a Thai restaurant for the dessert menu! Total bill for set menu, two desserts and two drinks was £62.05 which did not include service, total paid £70 and happy to pay this too.

What I really didn’t like was the fact that they opened the door at around 9.30 to freeze us out and my friend was recovering from flu at the time so I insisted they close it. This little restaurant off Holborn station is one of the best Thai food I have had in London so far, I have never been to Thailand but I LOVE Thai food and have eaten Pad Thai in many different restaurants all over London and this one was by far the best one (which I tasted from my friend)!! Flavours were mixing perfectly together. The coconut rice perfectly cooked and not too sticky and overdone as many other places. I had a red curry and coconut duck which was mouthwatering!!Prices are average, maybe tending to the cheap side for central London. Totally worth the quality!! The restaurant is small but very cosy. The staff is alright, not overdoing it but not even underdoing it either, I'd say average but didn't spoil our experience at all!! It was fast and pleasant. Would definitely go back, not necessarily only if in the area but would happily go back on purpose. Highly recommended!!

A nice restaurant near Lincoln's Inn Fields, Thiwanya serves nice Thai food at a good value price. We had Dim Sum and Green curry chicken, and both were pretty nice. We were expecting something a bit more spicy, especially for the curry, but it was definitely good. The staff is friendly but seems always in a hurry, and you don't really have time to breathe between courses. Probably a good place to eat with posh coworkers, but a bit too buzzy for a more relaxed lunch with your girl.

I have quite high expectations for Thai food and would say this place is above average for a Thai in London. All the dishes were nice and the normal options were available. The restaurant is pleasant. The dishes aren't big so you probably need a starter, main course and rice per person. The restaurant is right behind Holborn and so is very easy to get to. I would return again if I was in the area and fancied Thai food.

I hate to rain on the parade, but when me and my girlfriend went here last week after reading other reviews and hoping for authentic Thai food, we were pretty disappointed. What we got was very standard anglicised Thai food, and if anyone has been to Thailand and thinks the food here is on a par with anything they ate there they must either have a cloth palate or have stuck to eating in English-style bars. The vegetable spring rolls from a small selection of very familiar starters were flavourless sticks; a glass noodle salad with prawns much better, and the best thing we ate there. For mains, prawns with chilli and Thai basil had a distant echo of chilli and basil - I couldn't see either in the dish in front of me. Fried fish in a hot chilli and garlic sauce was fish in a (very) sweet and sour sauce. When I asked the waiter whether we had actually got the right dish he admitted the chilli/garlic and hot/sour sauces were "very similar". So I assume it was just the sweet and sour sauce with a little bit of extra chilli thrown in.It's shame, because it's a nice, simple restaurant in a good location looking out on an old courtyard and alleyway near Lincoln's Inn Fields, it's not expensive, and the staff are pleasant. But the food seems stuck 20 years ago in an Anglo-Thai timewarp. The restaurant was very quiet on our first and last visit, so here's a clever business plan for the chef and owners - you can do better. Put a bit of care and effort into cooking authentic Thai food, your customers will keep returning, and the rest of London will beat a path to your door.

Ganske hyggeligt, udemærket og godkendt Thai restaurant, men ikke noget ekstra ordinært og lidt dyrt. Servicen kunne også godt få få løft.

Gorgeous food, friendly and attentive staff, good atmosphere. The sharing platters and Thai green and yellow curries are especially good (and the sticky rice). As nice as anything I ate in Thailand

This restaurant was great. We went as a group of 11 and we didn't have one complaint! Lovely food and attentive staff! We ordered the meat and vegetarian platters for starters which were quite big and had a good selection. For mains I had the Thai Green Curry with Prawns with Noodles. My only gripe would be that I filled up on the starters and couldn't finish my main! Going again this week with a different set of friends ;-)

After craving Thai, we only came across this place through google and thought we'd give it a go. Don't think we'd have ever found it otherwise as even though it's centrally located, it's down an alley and out of view from the hustle and bustle around Holborn!!Food and service was great - best I've had in London (although I'm no expert!). There were only a few other tables full on a Saturday though, so... wanted to review asap so more people might try it too!

Have been eating at this restaurant for about 20 years now. Its behind Holborn tube next to the Ship pub. It was a weekday evening so just managed to get a table which proves that the local workforce know their restaurants. Still great Thai food and excellent service and very reasonably priced. Hope I am still eating here in 20 years time.

With all of the Thai restaurants in London....this is one of the most authentic. Tucked away near the Holborn underground entrance....worth looking for.

This is a truly lovely restaurant right in the heart of town. It's tucked behind Holborn station but feels very much 'off the beaten track' at the end of a pedestrian seat. The food was lovely with plenty of vegetarian choice. The waiting staff were charming and were happy for us to sit and chat way beyond the end of our dinner. I will definitely return.

This is a small and friendly Thai restaurant near Holborn tube station. It's always busy but few people book and I've never had a problem getting a table. The Tasty Lamb from the Chef's Specials is one of my favourites, really tender meat in a not-too-spicy sauce. Two courses and a Thai beer for £25 including tip.

Son who is at LSE Uni recommended and was right. We are just back from three weeks touring Thailand and the food here was on par with the best we tasted(the panang curry was perhaps the best I've tasted). We started with the Golden Treasure mixed starter which was lovely. Also do lunch and early dinner specials for around £8.

Stumbled upon this gem when staying in a hotel around the corner. The food was outstanding, having one of the best Thai meals we have ever eaten. The place was tucked away so would easily be missed, but I would certainly revisit next time I am in town.

After a long meeting in London, a party of six decided to go for a Thai meal before departing for home. We were lucky enough to know about this place and we weren't disappointed. The service and food was 1st class. We had several starters, including Golden Treasures, then we moved on to our mains which included Panaeng Curry Chicken, which were all delicious. I can truly recommend this restaurant, the service and food are first class.
