We had a quick dinner here on the last night of our holiday in Ballycastle. We didn’t have a booking but the staff were very accommodating and got us a table quickly. Food was absolutely fantastic. My Rib-eye steak and my wife’s Sirloin were perfectly cooked. Loved it. Thanks to Anthony, our guide at the Giants causeway, for the recommendation.

I was really surprised by this place. It doesn't look like much from the outside but the food is really well made, whatever you order! They weren't able to make all the dishes on the menu, but what they did have was really enjoyable.

We had a takeout from here with a lot to choose from the menu. The staff and chef accommodated to dietary preferences with no problem. Generous portions and well cooked, vegetables were absolutely perfect and was local produce too! Thank you to everybody x

We had one of the best meals on our 2-week tour of the country in Thirty-Nine Restaurant. The food was just excellent - wonderful flavours and well-presented. I had fish for starter and main and both dishes were fresh and so tasty. Our waitress (the owner, her husband is the head chef) was warm and attentive. We only discovered on the day that this is a bring-your-own-bottle restaurant, with a very reasonable corkage. The interior is modern and crisp but warm and it was spotless - we saw the owner bleaching the toilets at least every hour. A great family restaurant in a central location. Highly recommended.

Visited again following a fantastic first visit! On staycation with family this time. There were 7 of us - all very impressed with our meal! Food was gorgeous & staff friendly and helpful too. Service was good. Restaurant very well equipped and sanitised due to covid 19 currently ongoing! Look forward to visiting again!

I cannot fault this restaurant. The staff were so friendly and remembered me from my booking via phone. They were so welcoming. The food was gorgeous, really good food at an excellent price. I had the crab claws to start, they were cooked to perfection and full of flavour, my salad was so tasty. My partner had the stuffed pork fillet with scallops, he raved about it. The pork fillet just melted in his mouth and the black pudding was DELICIOUS. We both had the same main which was a chicken stack, a simple dish done to absolute perfection. The champ was gorgeous, so tasty. The chicken was so tender and full of flavour. The whiskey cream was deliciously decandant. It was bring your own which is fantastic, unfortunately we were driving or else we would have definitely brought our own wine. The staff were excellent when it came to social distancing and all wearing masks. The toilets were spotless and it was easy to see if there was a queue so you could social distance easily. It was fresh, delicious and well done food. Excellent restaurant and will definitely return.

We thought the food was excellent. The young waitress deserves special mention for her welcoming and helpful service. The steaks were excellent as were the sides, although you could probably share between two if not terribly hungry as the portions were generous. We would definitely go here again.

Ate here last night whilst staying in Ballycastle. First thing to say is that the girl waiting on was absolutely lovely, definitely earnt her wage for the night and deserves a bonus! However, the service was not good. She was on her own and the restaurant was full. Peeking through the kitchen door, she also seemed to be doing the food prep herself! Poor girl was rushing round like a lunatic but,as you would expect, the service wasnt great. The food was fine, there was an awful lot of it and it was good value. Not the best I've ever had but somewhere I'd go again. But for goodness sake, Mr or Ms Restaurant Owner, if you're reading this, don't do that to the poor girl again!!!

I can’t boast about this restaurant enough, the food is stunning and is consistently delicious. I have brought large groups of girls, families And sent two anniversaries here and they have all been catered for, the staff are friendly and the atmosphere is warm and homely making it all rounder in my eyes, with the added bonus of BYO

Don’t let appearances fool you—the decor may be minimalist, but the dishes are fantastic. This place is perfect for groups or a casual date night. Be sure to book in advance but! The BYO idea just great for us and corkage was an excellent deal, the fish and steak dishes all excellent in flavour and quality and quantity!! I had the calamari, it was crispy and light, followed a monster of an 8oz ribeye, which came with a juicy beef tomato and a side order, I had the cheesy bacon mash, moorish! Cooked to perfection, not many places get it that right. The staff were all wearing masks, and visors and sanitising every surface, door handles, rest rooms, tables, seats, and I see they have undergone some extra training as displayed for all to see. In all excellent value, excellent food and excellent staff, will return the next time we visit the north coast, if we can get in!!

Went with my husband and two kids, ordered pork belly and scallop and nachos both lacked the wow factor they didn't have a big pile of flavour, for main we both got the cod fritters these were meant to be spicy but neither of us got much spice they where batter heavy and quite greasy the potatoes had not much flavour either, the waitress was quite grumpy and not very friendly wouldn't be going back again. For the price we paid it was not worth it.

Went on a local recommendation as the steak was supposed to be very good. Arrived for our 8 pm booking and it was close to 8:30 before we were seated with menus and 9 pm before we had starters. Opted for the pork belly as a started but they had no black pudding (a fairly basic ingredient) which was difficult to understand as it was a Sat night, this being a key element of the dish I settled for the risotto and my wife had the calamari - both were excellent. We both had steak and my ribeye was Ok but my wifes sirloin was almost inedible and we both tried. There was almost half a steak left on her plate when collected and I mentioned we were disappointed with the meat but I was even more disappointed with the response - ohh sorry - no mention of raising it with chef, same story when paying the bill so they are clearly not worried about satisfied customers. Another minor point is that at around £20 for a steak all you get is meant and a tomato, all other sides are extras and that seems a bit mean. Other reviews have mentioned the noise levels and there were correct it does need something to adsorb the noise

very small and busy little restaurant with a BYOB system but the food is getting top marks from me. plenty of choice on a well designed menu that allows the seafood fans to be as happy as the steak eaters i will be returning when next in Ballycastle.

Everyone in group seemed quite pleased with food, although my veg curry came as chicken curry. Curry had long grain rice, I would have preferred basmati personally. We waited over an hour for food, our young kids found it very difficult to wait that long. Perhaps we would ask that kids are served first next time, adult dishes arrived before kids'. A couple of things...We were served pots of chicken wings in sauce with no plates or napkins. Restaurant has no ketchup. Customers should be informed of the corkage fee on website / menus. Acoustics are not that good in the room but a pleasant place to eat overall. I would go again but not in peak August.

I'd recommend booking in advance, we were limited in the time we could get but were glad we went ahead as the food was very good (restaurants in Ballycastle were very busy the week we were there). This is a casual bistro with a BYOB policy, no wine on offer. Food was good, the mussels and steaks were highlights and the portions very generous. Best value and quality of the restaurants we tried in Ballycastle.

We were greeted by very pleasant waitress who showed us to our table quickly. She returned to help with our BYO drinks and we had a wine chiller within 2mins. Plenty of choice on the menu for my wife and I and even impressed our 10 year old daughter, who is a huge foodie. Slight issue with wife's main course, dealt with quickly and profficiantly. Can't praise staff enough! Definitely a 5 star experience. Looking forward to return

Booked meal previous day for 6 p.m. and were disappointed to find menu was decimated when we arrived. None of the four fish dishes were available, and several others were gone as well. Corkage charge wasn't mentioned anywhere, simply a BYOB notice outside. We brought a half bottle each and were charged £5 each for corkage. No-one offered to open or pour, so seemed a bit steep to charge both bottles. We both had the burger and it was excellent.

Stayed in Ballycastle for a week and this was the best restaurant we dined in. Unfortunately we never discovered it until the last night, shame on us. All 4 of our party were more than pleased with each course, from the steak to the seafood. None of us had room for desert but hope to be back again soon to try them. The only small complaint was that there was a draft coming in from the door.

Ordered two steaks with champ, pepper sauce, onion rings and skinny fries. Also two kids meals and chocolate fudge cake. Food was delicious, lovely friendly staff who took the order as well. Just finished a beautiful Mother’s Day Roast that was delivered to our door. Absolutely fantastic could not recommend highly enough. So tasty and still hot.

Delicious chowder, and great staff

I was just sharing the details of thirty nine with a friend who is visiting Antrim this weekend. My family ate twice at 39 in August 2018. We had two great meals. The staff were very kind to our children and made us feel very welcome. Glad to see they are still going strong.

This restaurant is fantastic. Great range of options on the menu and everything looked delicious. Atmosphere was lovely and service was great. It’s BYOB which is really handy.

Fabulous food in a nice setting. Huge portions of locally sourced ingredients at good prices, even better it’s BYO. Recommend it highly.

Having failed to communicate that the pork belly was not available, they took my order (1of 6 people dining) only to bring to the table a substituted pork meal I did not order. About half way through I asked to check the order - to which they confirmed that the server should have noted the pork belly was not available and they failed to communicate this on menu at time of ordering. They apologized, but made no attempt to remove it from the bill or offer an alternative. I was not paying the bill (another family member was treating), so was not going to push this point to disrupt the night. Further to this, two other fish meals did not have their accompanying side orders brought to the table. I went on recommendation from people, but in this instance I was not happy with the experience.

Sehr modernes Restaurant. Das Essen war klasse, ich hatte ein Chili und meine Freundin ein Curry, beides war ausgezeichnet. Auch die Gerichte vom Nachbartisch sahen echt lecker aus. Kann man empfehlen.

A malincuore devo dire che ho provato a dare fiducia a questo luogo....tanto che ho prese le LINGUINE.....dico solo che hanno un po abbondato con le linguine scotte nel mio piatto di burroIl cibo potrebbe anche piacere agli stranieri...SO FOR THE PEOPLE THAT ARE NOT ITALIAN THIS PLACE IS REALLY GOOOOOD.

Awesome steak after a day of sight-seeing!

Watch out Ballycastle eateries, there a new kid on the block. The small restaurant serves the best steaks in Ballycastle and its BYO, what’s more they do a special on Wednesday night, two steaks plus sides for £20. But I would say this won’t last long as the popularity of this place is rocketing. They don’t always get things right as we have been kept waiting away past the time of our reservation on two occasions and the noise in the restaurant can be very load (if you are reading this guys, you need some soft furnishings/wall covering or curtains to cut the acoustics guys). But overall fabulous food, full of flavour, warm welcoming, engaging staff who know the restaurant industry and the local area..Brilliant spot, we will be back time and time again.

We ate here last night and had an excellent meal..I have only one complaint in that my wife ordered the goats cheese starter and while she said it tasted great the portion was tiny.Definitely not worth £7 or £8.

We ate here twice last weekend, both times with a booking. Foodwise a special mention for the crackerjack prawns on as a starter last Thursday evening, they were delicious. All choices were excellent and the BYO does keep the cost down. The only reason for giving a 4 instead of a 5 is the noise level on the Saturday evening, with lots of people having a fun evening it did get a little difficult to hear each other, perhaps this could easily be improved? Service was excellent, we were 15mins early on Saturday evening (for a late timeslot) and the table wasn’t free so decamped to the pub and got a call as soon as the table was ready.

Top notch steak and great service. Will be back.

A group of six of us came here after golf at Bally Castle as the restaurant was closing. Not only did they graciously seat us and serve us delicious food, the woman who owns the restaurant with her husband helped us get libations to celebrate our Irish golfing experience. The food the service and the people were all top notch. Thanks for a great experience.

Food and service was really good, but the room was irritatingly noisy. It needed some soft furnishings and noise absorbent surfacing on ceiling.

The standard of food here was amazing. Everything that came out to our table was delicious. Three of our party had steaks and they were all cooked to perfection. Mussels were also fabulous. Staff were very helpful.

Fantastic everytime. For simply good food you can't go wrong. Steaks have a flavour you can't get at home. Fish dishes are fantastic and use simple flavours that don't mask the flavour of the fish. Always accomodating to any requests to alter a dish if you think there's something that just won't suit you. A fantastic family run restaurant and a string to Ballycastle's bow. First place I would send any friends or family visiting.

Absolutely fabulous afternoon. Food amazing. Seafood platter to start followed by Chilli Prawns served in a curled poppadom. Crab toes excellent, mussels brilliant. Perfectly cooked steaks, Lamb rump beautifully served. Relaxed atmosphere and unhurried service. Couple of slight negatives,staff forgot one Main course but it arrived quickly so wasn't a Biggie, also the rissoto wasn't to one of the customer's tatse so it was changed to a fabulous steak with no drama. Will definitely be back. Bring your own wine kept the price down. Light and airy atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Absolutely try try it it's amazing

This is a BYOB restaurant so make sure you take wine or purchase it from the nearby supermarket. Our starters of chowder and mussells were excellent, very tasty and piping hot. The main courses of hake and fish cake were equally delicious but the star had to be the chocolate tart - my goodness was this moreish! The young lady serving was the only waitress but coped admirably. Loved our supper and will definitely return when next in Ballycastle.

This is an excellent restaurant. We had the most marvellous meal last night, the staff were really friendly and helpful . The room is refreshingly bare and clean looking and the food was outstanding. I had the seafood platter and it was delicious, crab toes, mussels, prawn, langoustine. I had it as a main and there was more than enough seafood. Our friend had a steak and I had a taste and it was cooked perfectly and the taste .... incredible! Do yourself a favour and make a booking!!!!

We dropped in 'on spec' and weren't disappointed. This is a BYOB place but it isn't far to walk to the Co-op wine store - indeed the staff suggested that. We both made the same menu choice - a fish starter followed by a curry - both were excellent. The place lacks character but this is well compensated by the friendly and efficient staff.

This cozy little restaurant has the most amazing steak. The staff were really nice and friendly. Food was reasonably priced and nice portions. The atmosphere was family friendly, relaxed and cool. For desert I got the chocolate brownie with honeycomb ice cream which was again so delicious.

This is a really great BYO restaurant. The food is of an incredibly high standard. The staff are professional yet friendly. We were a group of 6 and each of us really enjoyed the food, a mixture of steaks and seafood. We shared some starters_ crab cake nachos and seafood platter and also shared some deserts_ warm chocolate fudge cake and pecan brownie. Everything was delicious. The corkage fee was nominal. If we are ever in Ballycastle again, all of us agreed that we would love to eat here again. Exceptional.

Beautiful food and friendly service

We have become firm fans of this fantastic restaurant in Ballycastle and eat here every time we come as a result of the excellent food and friendly service. The restaurant is BYO with no corkage, the variety of the menu which changes regularly is fresh, tasty and caters for all. We always bring our son and the kids meals are again fresh and tasty and good value.

We got the restaurant recommended. Being lucky to get a table for three without a reservation, we first thought it seems quite basic. The starter was small but tasted great, the main dish was amazing. I had mussels with an incredible broth, my Dads steak was fantastic. The dessert my sister and I shared was one of the best we ever had, cake with salted caramel sauce and ice.

We stopped off at Ballycastle for a food stop and came us this place. The food was superb. We shared our lamb dish and Seafood risotto dish followed by Pavlova and Sticky Toffee Pudding. The staff, who were all young on our night, were welcomimg and friendly. We were impressed. Only downside for us was that it's a 'bring your own bottle' and a glass of wine would have been nice but obviously we didn't know this. Highly recommend.

We celebrated my husband birthday there. Steak is like nothing I've ever seen before and tasted magical. Bring your own drinks. Cake was good too.

We have spent a wonderful week in Ballycastle and this was a final night and we chose a fantastic restaurant to end the holiday with.

Four of us ate here on a Saturday night having booked a table for 7 o’clock. We were told our table was not ready because its previous occupants had arrived late and had not finished their meal yet. As an interim measure we were seated elsewhere but were told that we could not stay there as that table in turn was needed for another group. This was discomfiting as a welcome, however the bad news was managed with smiles and courtesy by the apologetic staff. We were served our starters at the temporary table and then moved to the right place for our mains. The table was fine but would have been very tight for the five I had originally booked; we only knew at the last moment that one of party could not come. Had she been there she would have been seated right in front of the access to the kitchen which would have been very uncomfortable. So, in terms of service and environment the restaurant has improvements to make. The arrival of a party of 24 drew further attention to this as the staff and diners struggled to move around the room, and the noise levels were overwhelming without soft furnishing to soak up the din.

Third time in this restaurant, and on every occasion the food has been amazing, really amazing. The only thing that let this restaurant down was the noise level. On two occasions there was a large party, and they were certainly having a party. Because of the sparse furnishings and bare walls the noise level was intolerable. I couldn’t even talk to my wife. Maybe I was just unlucky in the nights I picked to go. I will finish with how good the food was though.

Went with family to this beautiful Restaurant located on the main thoroughfare of Ballycastle. We had Accessible Parking available directly across from the Restaurant which was excellent. Other Parking available on the Street at no charge.

Had a family dinner to celebrate my father in laws birthday. The food was amazing, I had the burger with chips. The best burger I have had in years. It’s a nice relaxing place with friendly staff. Good choices on the kids menu, my children had garlic bread for starters and carbonara pasta / fish and salad for mains.

Food and service superb, only downside, and its not a deal breaker, is that it's really noisy, probably due to not having any soft furnishings to dampen the sound - you'll have to shout at your table mates!

Called to book a table for 2 and received the welcoming atmosphere I came to receive at the restaurant instantly over the phone. Attentive staff, all positive in their attitude and it reflected in the excellent service.

Best steak in Ireland overall quality of food and service excellent.

Rude staff, Swedish retailer style tables and chairs i.e; rickety. It received one star only because the manager was polite when we asked to leave.

Food was excellent, as was the service (even with 2 exhausted kids in tow). Would definitely go again if in the area.

Monday night at half term we were delighted to get a table. The food was just delicious. The starters were superb... claws, mussels and prawn dish ... lovely. The sharing platter with tasty chicken, lightly battered mushrooms and wings ...yum yum. The baked crusted plaice was delich. The waitress was everything you want from a restaurant server. I will definitely recommend this to my friends.

Our first visit last Friday night for a team of 6 and easily the best meal I have had in Ballycastle anywhere in recent years. The menu was so varied it was hard to choose but we all ordered something different and every meal was delicious with awesome presentation. The staff were all delightful and attentive despite a full house. Exceptional value. I have already rebooked !!

This was our first time dining here having checked out the interesting menu. The decor is fresh and modern. The food was all delicious and we were impressed with the presentation.

'39' has only been open a year, so it's (still) BYOB - I popped into O'Connor's Bar for a bottle of beer before I arrived - and then, with some good advice from my waiter, finally managed a three course meal.....admittedly, by ordering two starters (chowder and the smaller portion of ribs with a salad) and a dessert. All tasty, but not quite hitting the 'perfect' mark yet; nonetheless, a welcome newcomer to the Ballycastle eateries.

We had reservations for 8 people. We were put a 2 tables. When we asked if we could put tables together they said no, even though 30 minutes later a group of woman came in and they moved the tables for them. Several ordered sirloin steak and the cut on the meat was horrendous. All grizzle and when they mentioned it to the staff they were told it was marbeling. Only half of the steak could be eaten and they offered a free coffee. Since we were at 2 tables you would think they would have brought 2 bills but everything was listed on just one bill. Difficult to divide the bill. Great disappointment because it had been so highly recommended.

Wir waren spontan an einem Sonntagabend in diesem Restaurant um zu Abend zu essen und mussten gleich erstmal lernen, was BYOB bedeutet - das Restaurant bietet keine alkoholischen Getränke an, man kann aber seine eigenen Getränke mitbringen! Das war etwas, was wir so noch nicht kannten, also wieder etwas gelernt. Man sollte daher dran denken, sein Bier und/oder seinen Wein vorher zu besorgen, so man den nicht darauf verzichten mag. Möglichkeiten dazu finden sich in der Nähe genug. Wir haben uns aber einfach auf die angebotenen Sofdrinks beschränkt...

We went to this fabulous family owned restaurant after visiting Ballycastle to compete in the giants causeway sportive. Fiona couldn’t have been more accommodating and all her staff were superb.

Cheerful and very helpful staff, ribeye steak and trimmings as good as if not better than all the posh restaurants in Belfast.
