Better than most restaurants considering that is run by students. Prices are very good for gourmet food.

Always great food, well presented and very friendly service.

Recently enjoyed a Butler Service banquet dinner here with The Lord Mayor's Party and was thoroughly impressed! The table looked beautiful with white linens and silver candelabras. The service was excellent with polite cheerful students looking like this was an everyday event rather than a first . The food was top notch , presentation and taste first class. This was first time here but won't be my last ..well.done all involved .

I have eaten here on several occasions and always had a good meal, its not cheap, but I am always able to get gluten free options here to eat and usually have a gf beer as well.

Wow, absolutely blown away by the amazing 5 course meal we had. From start to finish the food and service was exemplary. We didnt feel rushed, we took our time and cleared all the plates of the 5 course meal. The Chicken Terrine was fab as was the Lamb rump, canapes were just wonderful. Desserts and petit fours excellent and finished what was a lovely evening. Well done to everyone involved, to cook and present the food the way the chefs did tonight - they will go far and truly deserve the credit. It was an honour to be a guest and I will definitely return. I highly recommend visiting if you are in the area - but booking is essential.

Had an amazing night where alumini chefs returned to cook along with current students. The food was fantastic & so reasonably priced for a meal I would expect in a high end restaurant. Will definitely be returning.

Me and my wife enjoyed a fabulous Hong Kong inspired evening at the restaurant . The place was packed and has a great atmosphere. The students were really attentive and did a super job on service. The food was 1st class and we tried things we have never had before. The cod was my favourite. We will definitely be back.

Every year the Exeter Chiefs Supporters Club book the whole restaurant for a Fine Dining event. It is always one of our most popular events. Each year the food seem to get better and this year was no exception. Great food, great atmosphere and the dessert was certainly a surprise and great fun.

Both of my children are at the college and so I had been thinking of booking a visit just to be supportive of the students. When I saw the post about a charity night it seemed an ideal opportunity to crack on and book. I knew the food was being cooked by students and the venue was in the college so my expectations were set accordingly. However, I was well off the mark! The restaurant is really nicely done, comfortable leather chairs, quality glass and tableware, all very aesthetically pleasing. The service was good - perhaps could be a little more polished by, hey, they’re learning. The food far exceeded my expectations, both in quality and presentation, it was absolutely superb. Far better than I have experienced from many professional kitchens! I wouldn’t hesitate to visit again, it was a fantastic meal and the students are gaining great experience for their future careers. Photo attached, shame my photography skills aren’t as good as their cooking skills!

Really lovely lunch at Exeter College Thirty-four restaurant. Interesting to see how the students are trained at the same time as having a delicious two or three course meal for a vey reasonable price. Would definitely recommend. Check their website out for opening times and the menu changes.

Lovely meal in a relaxed atmosphere. Prompt and efficient service although the server didn't always know details of the dishes when asked. Gorgeous goats cheese mousse and very tasty arrancini for main. For me the mielle fuielle (sp?) was nice but perhaps needed some sort of sauce/coolie to contrast with the rich cream.

Amazing food cooked by the students. Cooked to an excellent standard and good value. Do nice beers and wine too. Lunch and evening meals, check the website for new menus each month.

Wonderful evening! Lovely set menu, incredible food, very polite attentive servers and great drinks menu! Also really reasonably priced considering the standard of food and drinks. 10/10 will definitely return!

Wow! Fantastic service throughout our meal and the food was delicious, no faults at all. Everyone was friendly and polite and the atmosphere was relaxed yet fun as it was right before Christmas. Food was cooked to perfection. Very yummy. Will definitely be going again.

I enjoyed a incredible dinner here as part of an international transport delegation visit to the SW England, the food was fantastic and the service was really second to none. All of the delegates thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and what made it even special was the students came out at the end so we could congratulate them. Amazing place, would definitely come back!!

After eating here for the first time I was extremely surprised. From the moment we arrived until we left we were made to feel very welcomed. All of the staff were very knowledgeable about the food. The service was efficient. The food was a variety of things I probably would never choose to eat, but was taken aback at how good they tasted. The presentation was superb and the portion sizes were spot on. Speaking with the staff was a great experience as they were all very positive and clearly enjoyed what they were doing. I will definitely be returning.

I went here with my colleagues for Christmas lunch and it was spot on. Lovely service, beautiful food and they catered for all the dietary requirements no problem. It was beautifully set up for Christmas and we even had a Christmas quiz, hats and choccies on the table (no plastic from crackers - great idea!). We all really enjoyed it and will be back. Absolutely exceptional food and service! We went for a Christmas lunch and all 19 of us enjoyed it very much. The food was cooked to perfection. I have to say it was the best Christmas dinner I have had in a very long time in a restaurant. Well done to all!

Excellent Christmas lunch... I didn't want the meal to end it was so good! I have a number of intolerances and these were catered for exceptionally by the kitchen. I didn't miss out on eating anything. I would highly recommend @34 restaurant to anyone looking to have a lovely meal. Thank you to all the staff both kitchen and front of house. We will be back.

We attended the Christmas lunch on December 12th, and it was faultless. The service was excellent, and my dietary needs (gluten-free) were accommodated without any issues. For starters, I had the celeriac soup, followed by the amazing hake – the best fish I've ever eaten,...

Actually this was Bistro night. Smaller portions but a tasting menu of 6 courses. The food was fantastic and the students helpful, amusing and attentive. We shall definitely be returning.

Everyone should try this venue! The students are very keen to learn and it’s pleasure to be part of that learning. The food is very good, the staff helpful and nothing is too much trouble. A big plus is the price…..really reasonable for the food and the alcohol as well. Thank you Debbie

A truly unique experience, @34 has is one of our all time favourite places to eat in Exeter. The menu changes weekly, often built around a theme. The food is always cooked to perfection and offered at an incredibly reasonable price. Watching the students learn...

Yet another fabulous dinner, in fact I'd say the best yet. From the canapes to thr coffee, every dish was utter perfection.

Excellent ! I have eaten here many times when I am in Exeter and thoroughly enjoyed the food and experience. The food has been generous and prepared and presented to a very high standard. Every dish was a great taste experience. It is a Michael Chinese Academy, bearing this in mind the service is straight from the classroom to serving the public and needs to be treated with respect, as such by customers. Saying that, it is extremely helpful. I will definitely be returning, probably next week !

We booked for a Thursday evening dinner, having been before and we were not disappointed. We had walked in from home and got there before they formally opened, so we just sat outside the restaurant door waiting for them to finish their pre dinner team...

Only 4 for both Food and Service, but this only reflects the tremendous potential of these students. 2 of the 3 courses rated 5 stars. I am sure that they woll all surpass 5 stars in their futures.

We have just enjoyed our first lunch here having seen them at Powderham Castle Food Festival. The food was excellent and they catered incredibly well for my gluten allergy. The young staff were an absolute delight! I can totally see why they have won the best College Restaurant award. Already booking our next lunch for when the menu changes so that we can try something new. Amazing value!

Been coming here for years used to be an amazing experience food and service 2nd to none. Over the past few years this place has really gone down hill mainly on the service side, aiming to be a top end restaurant but failing badly, also very expensive now as well.

Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, some food not so quite so good , some outstanding . Soup particularly good , Pannacotta crumble dessert excellent.

Great experience for dinner. Both meat and vegetarian options were well thought through and tasty. The staff were attentive and friendly. We left very full and will definitely go again.

Disappointing. I had read the reviews and was looking forward to eating @34. Chose the fish option and the portion was minuscule. Assumed it was nouvelle cuisine until I saw the size of turkey meal .The setting and ambiance was very nice for a group lunch and the service was fine.

A lovely evening with fantastic food.

Lovely Xmas lunch but not really worth the price. The service does not warrant the cost being the same as a high st restaurant. It used to be really reasonable. Really tiny portions. Turkey was dry and gravy like water. Only 2 veg, sprouts and red cabbage, not what a lot of people like. I really liked the new decor but think it's a real shame they no longer have white table linen which always made it feel special. I would have liked to have seen a feedback sheet so the students and staff can learn. The waiter didn't even know what the fish was. There was not enough menus to go around and we had to ask for bread. We were not asked if we wanted more drinks. The soup was being brought in with their fingers over the sides of the bowls. My ice cream was vanilla not coconut and there was not enough time between courses. The quiz was the same as last year's. I hope this will be taken in the spirit it is intended, ie constructive criticism in order for the students to learn and be prepared for the real world!

Always a pleasure, food fantastic and the student service is always friendly. The restaurant has had a facelift as have the prices, but still very good value for what you get. Photos attached and the menu it also includes a coffee of your choice but that's not showing on the menu.

Lovely restaurant with students doing all the cooking and serving. Food is always great and the quality is at the same level as you would pay triple for in any other restaurant. Make sure to book in advance.

We have now visited for lunch and evening dinner. On both occasions the quality of food and service was exceptionally high. We will be back soon for more. Well done to the young students and their lecturers.

Delicious food from the trainees at the culinary school. Its a set menu but they're always happy to adapt for any dietary requirements.

Beautiful food, imaginative and delicious. Fine dining and cut priced - two courses and tea afterwards for under a tenner. Some dishes were more hearty than others (the veg soup, game pie) but in future I'd have three courses. Lovely room with white tablecloths, and lovely students serving. In all, it felt very special, and fantastic value for money. Well done to all concerned!

We had a great meal, the service could have been better but it wasn't that bad either.... Well worth a visit if you can...

I'm don't eat at restaurants regularly, I'm more of a pub grub type. I arrived hungry & left hungry, I couldn't believe how small the portions were, and I had the vegetarian option so perhaps missed out of the more impressive dishes. 7 courses, but each course would have fitted in an egg cup (not exaggerating) Half of the 8 people on our table loved it, the other half thought it was a joke. If you do go remember to have dinner first, or you'll be needed a burger on the way home.

Fantastic food and great service. I've heard it called Exeter's best kept secret but it's a well known secret as they're booked up for weeks! The food is fantastic though and worth the wait. I honestly can't recommend it enough.

I want to be positive because a fair amount of the food was good. However our waitress didn't know the full " detail " ( ie : food incredients ) of the menu... ( considering it was 2 courses as a starter and three for a main was, in my opinion not that challenging ) We thought there would be someone to oversee the students ...like seeing how they were clearing table/ bringing food to table and such ...but no sign of that and the service was very friendly but totally unprofessional. ( no idea of the types of bread/ removal of unnecessary cutlery / packed plates and cutlery in front of us...and I could go on..However our fish dish was well cooked, starter needed more herbs and sauce ...pudding was not good..! BUT, considering the price, we had a very enjoyable time but these students do need more training and to learn the use of herbs ....

I have eaten here many times over the last 20 years. Excellent food prepared and served by the catering students. Cannot recommend highly enough.
