Thirteen church street in Horsham

I been enjoying the food at 13 Church St for a long time and felt a review was long overdue. The food is consistently good , the service is excellent and I would go as far as to say it is the best Thai food I have ever had. There is always a warm welcoming when you arrive .

Booked for our anniversary, it was a hot evening , we were shown to our table No water No menu No waitress 20 minutes later we decided something was not right And complained to the manager Who was happy for us to walk out Thirsty Hungry Grumpy This venue does not deserve the business Pity as we live local and Storrington is not spoilt for choice Can’t comment on the food as we didn t get that far but strangely enough the booking said we had to vacate the table in 1 hour 30 mins !!

As restaurants look, nothing to criticise here. The food..? Not bad as far as Thai goes, had better, had worse, but the price!! 3 people, a starter & main course each plus 2 (small) beers and a bottle of decent white for approaching £200!! Small Singha beers @ £6 ea.!! How’s this for a stinger… asked for noodles instead of rice for 2 main of our main courses and were given 2 portions of instant noodles (the sort that come out of a packet that you steep in boiled water for 5 mins) and charged £7.50 a go! That’s just greed. Won’t return, had equally decent Thai for half the price but I guess that the denizens of Storrington, mostly well to do older middle class folk, are happy to fork out for nothing particularly special.

Fantastic warm welcome for our first visit to this lovely restaurant which came highly recommended. Really enjoyed the super tasty, fresh food and lovely Nyetimber fizz. I'm sure when we move to Storrington (offer accepted now) we will become regulars.

We enjoyed a superb dinner with excellent food and excellent service. This is an outstanding restaurant. This is an expensive restaurant, but in this case it reflects the extremely high quality of what is on offer.

Absolutely loved our time here, excellent choice of food (special were great!) and a lovely setting. We were wine tasting locally so needed a quick bite to eat and this place was perfect. The waitress was great and even ordered us a taxi to our next destination. Highly recommend.

Excellent value 3 course set lunch menu. Drinks are pricey however. Food flavours, quality and service were exceptional.

Food ok ,nothing special but overpriced for what you get the wine was very expensive for a bog standard merlot and to top it all 12.5 service charge!!!

Well presented interior let down by average, overpriced cuisine and lacklustre service. The restaurant remained dead all evening. Waiter caught daydreaming: Ordered prawns but given chicken. We were too hungry to re order so didn’t complain and persevered with the tough slices of chicken. Some pieces were on the stringy side. Sticky rice more like stuck together solid golf ball sized pellet of rice - had to cut through this with a knife. Not enough rice to supplement a main dish. Mains Menus not taken away after ordering so we had to place them on a spare table. Other need to knows: - No vegetarian option whatsoever - Not child friendly/ no kids menu - Cheapest beer £6 for a small bottle. Wines start at around £10 per glass. - Prawn ‘crackers’ (I use plural very generously here) £4 - Forced service charge. We will not return here.

Nice looking restaurant , however we found it very expensive and not good value for money. The food was lovely , and beautifully served , however the rice serving was miniscule and we could have eaten two. No draught beer, only bottles and overpriced. Another thing I find annoying about these restaurants is adding a 12.5% service charge to our bill. No other industry does this , but restaurants think they can get away with it. Sorry, but never again...

This restaurant is local to us and is our ‘go to’ for a special occasion, it is a little pricey but worth it, wouldn’t be an every night place because then it wouldn’t be so special, the food is excellent and an excellent wine selection

Brilliantly good Thai food. Charming service. Not an “economy” experience but worth it for lunch with a very old friend.

Very nice but not as good as I remember. Has got very expensive. Very clean and the staff and service was excellent. Main course was huge and Salmon I had was over cooked.

Had an evening meal here. The food was spot on but we didn’t think it value for money. Once you add the rice on it gets really expensive. For that reason we won’t return.

The food is delicious, attractively presented and beautifully cooked but not exceptional. We tried a variety of dishes including spring roles, prawn tempura, scallops and squid, curries and fish. The spring rolls were light and almost transparent but too thin and needed a little more flavour. Thai green and chicken curries were flavourful but a bit sparse. Small timbales of rice. The portion sizes could be improved. Good quality food but too expensive to represent good value.

OMG incredible. Tucked away in quiet obscurity in beautiful Storrington, is the most extraordinary eatery. This small restaurant has an atmosphere of anticipation and excellence as you walk in. Polite, calm waiters serve with attentive professionalism. Knowledge and wisdom are shared in the expansive variety of drinks and food; both were served timeously. The food was exceptional. The fresh-flavoured, light and delicious taste-sensations with generous portions were delivered on hot plates with propitious timing. We had three courses and each one left us wanting more. A WOW with every mouthful. Celebrating our Silver wedding anniversary with them was FABULOUS. Thank you. WOW.

We tried 13 Church St and really quite Wowed by this restaurant. An absolute gem. We may have found our new favourite. The best meal we've had in a long time. Classy but friendly atmosphere. Lovely staff. Strongly recommend!

We have been a few times for special occasions . Good service and great food with a variety of specials , so no chance of getting bored with the menu. Attentive staff

The food was beautifully presented and delicious. The service was charming and helpful. A really lovely experience; the best Thai restaurant in West Sussex and probably further afield.

I found the restaurant very expensive. We went for our anniversary dinner. There was nothing special about it. As I am gluten free, I had to go through all the items against a different check list, what i could and could not eat. It was a bit tedious. For the two of us, the bill came to £140. That was four drinks, a starter each and a main course each, one side and a coffee. The duck salad starter was a disaster - very dry and inedible. I had to leave it. I give it three stars though because the actual main courses were really tasty.

We went with friends for our wedding anniversary. The restaurant was spotlessly clean and looked well laid out. We could choose which table we wanted. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and were attentive but not overbearing. The food was cooked to order. We had prawns, scallops and squid which were all cooked perfectly and beautifully presented. I had an alcohol free gin and tonic which was served ice cold in a large glass and was delicious. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the drinks were very expensive.

We enjoyed a brilliant supper at 13 last night. The food(prawn and crispy noodles, spring rolls, squid and red curry duck) was outstandingly good .The service was prompt,smiling and efficient. My wife who does not like spicy-hot food asked if they would change a sauce and dip and this was done willingly and quickly. Best meal out we've had in quite a while. We'll be back soon!

I have dined at this restaurant for some years now and it's one of my firm favourites in the Storrington area. I live in France, but whenever I'm in the UK, I make a point of eating at Thirteen Church Street with my friends. The dishes are all freshly prepared from excellent ingredients and the owner and staff always make us hugely welcome. The excellent reviews, which are well deserved, demonstrate how consistently good this place is.....

I have been to Thirteen many times over the years, loving its cosy vibe, simple decor and, of course, the food which was outstanding. The owner was enthusiastic and warm which added to the experience. We loved the place so much we booked out the venue for my mother-in-law’s 60th birthday. So, not having visited for years, I anticipated a good evening with friends in May. I was disappointed. In short, the owner wasn’t there which may account for the poor customer service. The waitress appeared to be waiting at all the tables so was somewhat stressed. She asked us not to order particular cocktails as she didn’t know how to make them… Er, ok… Was she the sole waitress and mixologist? Little wonder she was stressed and flustered! Thankfully for her, the restaurant was not busy… As for the food? Mediocre. Many of the different dishes tasted the same and the presentation was slapdash. Desserts appeared to largely feature Movenpick ice cream… I’d be more impressed if the restaurant promoted local brands, not a multinational… As for the ambience? Zilch. The previous cosy restaurant with dimmed lighting, fresh flowers on the table & flickering candles has disappeared. The restaurant has expanded into the next door building with an archway leading to more seating however the lighting was harsh for an evening setting, battery operated tea lights on the table looked cheap, menus no longer printed on paper were plastic covered. No doubt a throwback to the Covid era but adds to the general feeling of cheap and cheerless. The general feeling is of decay and sliding standards. We were last to leave the restaurant. Using restroom just before leaving, I had to file past the staff who were lounging around on a beach sofa looking at their phones or into space… This added to the air of unprofessionalism & made us feel as if we’d overstayed our welcome. Maybe they were tired and bored but I’d advise that they chill out behind the scenes until the clientele have left. We wont’t bd back. There are so many other restaurants to choose from offering a better experience.

Top notch fine dining. Very rarely do you find a rural fine dining non English/French cuisine restaurant . Thirteen is calm cool and collected. Food was spectacular. It’s pricey but that’s because it should be. Top service too.

Nice small restaurant, tables slightly close together to maximise revenue. Good customer service, staff were all great. The food was very tasty and beautifully cooked. Small Singha beer bottle Was £5.50. Chicken skewers X 3 as a starter was £10. The sauces on our prawns and fish was very rich. Everything a bit too expensive. But if you are looking for a special treat you will be guaranteed a great Thai meal!

Lovely meal for 5 on a Wednesday evening, selection of starters including the hot soup, crispy prawns and a cracking squid starter. Main course i went with crispy Pollock which was very tasty ! Wine a tad on the high side but it went down...

Can't fault the service, food and atmosphere 👌... top notch. I had scallops to start... and a special of pollock which was absolutely amazing. Well done to everyone there for providing a great culinary experience.

I’ve been dying to visit for ages but only had the time for a takeaway. The Thai green curries we had were delicious. The restaurant looked cosy and stylish so can’t wait to dine in next time.

This place is open for online ordering of some amazing Thai food for collection only. We ordered online from a sensibly reduced menu and also sensibly price reduced aswell. Everything works like clockwork and was straightforward, we collected our food at the time booked and as always the quality of the food cooked here is fantastic.

An absolutely fabulous meal last night. I love Thai food but this was the best I have ever had! The cod dish, green curry and beef were so delicious and the sticky toffee pudding was out of this world!!! Will definitely be returning!!

We ordered and collected a take away for the second time we really must make the effort to eat in the restaurant next time. The food is outstanding and the staff/owners wonderful and so interested in you enjoying yourself and enjoying the great menu they cook and serve. Went on 31st December the restaurant is compact with no bar area , that is the only minus the food was superb served by very friendly staff who knew everything about the menu it's different sauces and spices on each dish and were more than happy to give recommendations the restaurant was busy as you would expect on New Years Eve but service was good and not rushed a very pleasant atmosphere would reccomend to any one who likes quality thai food

I'm only giving this a 3 instead of a 4 because we have been lucky enough to experience several other Thai restaurants that were just a bit more special. The food here is very good, the ambience is pleasant and the staff lovely. Nice presentation, very tasty food, but somehow a little blurred in the flavours compared to the fresh, layered tastes of the different spices and herbs that we have had before. We may have been unlucky and I would certainly say its a good restaurant, well worth trying.

The main dish I had was so hot that it brought tears to my eyes and started a paroxysm of coughing.The fish and rice were therefore tasteless and I left most of it. Having forgone a starter I was very hungry at the end of the meal.As the restaurant is small the waitress should have seen I was not eating.A 'sorry' was all we got when she cleared the plates.It was VERY cold in there and the loo - one of - was freezing.It was also expensive. We asked for tap water and got bottled.As we were with friends, although splitting the bill, it seemed churlish to complain as they go there quite often.Our male friend thought there would have been a reduction in the bill which £100 for 4 with only one glass of wine and no desserts or coffees.

I was tempted to give three stars but our previous experience was better so my score is the average of the two meals so as to be kindThe food is generally very good, quite authentic given that it must be hard to source the true Thai ingredients.Unfortunately the mixed seafood main dish I had was so spicy that my tongue quickly got so hot that I couldn’t taste it, and it Completely ruined the rest of the meal for me.Most Thai restaurants give a spice code to warn so if it’s going to be at least you know to choose something different, or ask them to moderate it. The amount of chilli was excessive and on inspection the sauce looked like minced up hot chilli soup there was so much in it.Nobody asked us if we were enjoying the meal - which is unusual in a place that sits at this price point - and so they are none the wiser so hopefully they might take note from this.The meal was very expensive and there were no reasonably priced wines at all. Which is a shame because the High priced wine we had I couldn’t enjoy because of my burning tongue!I’ve since discovered a very authentic Thai restaurant up in Billingshurst that is much more reasonably priced, is far less pretentious and the food just as good.. it also has a chilli code! The £120 we spent at 13 would have bought us two meals there I love Thai food so that will now be my place of choice สุขภาพความมั่งคั่งและความสุข!

We have been visiting 13 church street since it opened many years ago. The food choice, quality and presentation is always excellent, staff friendly and atmosphere good. We have recommended it to many people over the years and they all agree how good it is. This is Thai food at its best.

I always feel very fortunate when I eat here as the food is incredible and the presentation is superb. Their outside catering is magnificent too if you are lucky enough to go to a party where they are producing the food. We are blessed to have this restaurant in our locality.

The food here is to die for - it really is amazing!! The prices are high so we only go there for a special treat but if you want truly good food then Thirteen is the place

Advertised that they are open for lunch 12.00 to 15.00 and we all turned up at 14.30 for a late lunch and they said they were closed. We all should have enquired if we could have had a take out but we could not be bothered. They did not want our money and they are not to have another chance from any of our group.

Amazing food - fresh great ingredients, the chef is Thai and you can taste it, incredible authentic food! Lovely lady served us and the owners seem really nice too. Great place, will come again and again!

Five of us had two courses each. Two were vegetarian. Anne had the massaman curry and I had the salmon teriyaki, both were delicious. The service was excellent, as were the choice of drinks - we mainly had beer and gin.

Have been meaning to visit this little restaurant for some time so when we arrived today we were fortunate to find it was not too busy as on previous occasions we had been very full. However, today proved that 13 is not only my partner's lucky number it was doubly so today. The menu is not overloaded and although on first glance the prices seem high this is easily compensated by the fantastic quality of the food and the equally excellent service. This is definitely a place to go for a Thai meal which for me was probably the best Thai food I have had for many years as it was for my partner who is not the easiest to please when it comes to the quality of food. Yet she devoured everything in front of her despite her being a bit down with a cold. Will we be going back? YES!

Superb meal. Fairly small menu but there are specials. The food is of high quality, tasty and beautifully presented. The service is gentle and unobtrusive. The restaurant is small and on the Saturday night we were there buzzy and noisy. Drinks are reasonably priced , the Nyetimber exceptionally so! Good range of gins.

We had a lovely dinner. Delicate & fine tasting starters followed by powerfully flavoursome mains. Seating is a little tight, service is excellent and choice of food options is broad. Some very tasty gin cocktails also add to the high end feel. All round a very good experience if slightly expensive in my opinion.

We dropped in on our way home. We hadn’t booked as it was a Friday evening so opted for a take away - wow absolutely stunning Thai food and the best we have tasted in 10 years. It’s on a par with Anong Thai in Cookham, Berkshire.

I have an Airbnb in Storrington and recommend this to my guests. I would go there more often myself if my husband liked Thai food. As it is, it's usually my birthday treat to go there.

My daughter and I went to Thirteen for lunch a couple of weeks ago. The food was amazing. The waitress was really helpful and we were really impressed with the fact that there was a separate menu showing which dishes contained nuts, as my daughter has a nut allergy. If only more restaurants would do the same. Thank you.

I’ve visited this Thai restaurant a few times but not recently. Four of us went for dinner recently and had a marvellous meal. The restaurant is fairly small but very welcoming and not cramped. A very varied (but not large) menu is complemented by special starters and main courses. The specials were favoured and didn’t disappoint. Soft shell crab, Thai fish cakes, stir fried duck and sea bass in a spicy sauce were all fantastic but the flavours of each component herb and spice were clearly evident. A good and reasonably priced wine list added to feeling good about the place. It’s 10 minutes walk from home too!

Had a wonderful evening here. They have a dedicated vegetarian menu with lots of tasty options. Service was impeccable. The restaurant itself has an upmarket feel. The amuse bouche was a lovely touch.

We went with my Father for his Birthday. The food was exquisite, the best Thai food I or my wife have experienced, and the service was polite and attentive without being intrusive.

When we arrived we was greeted with an amazing reception from the staff members, food was exceptional, waiters went above of what should be asked of them. nothing was delayed or upsetting. although it's a small restaurant (at the moment) they have made very good space of what is there.

Visited her on a recent trip to the area. Loved the food in this somewhat cosy restaurant - really great and fresh tasting flavours. 4/5 reflects the fact the service was a little bit hit and miss throughout but don't let that put you off visiting.

At time of booking told them it was a birthday occasion. On arrival no assistance given to seat us. No recognition whatsoever of the birthday. Food was very good albeit over priced.

This small restaurant is tucked away up a side street in the centre of Storrington, Sussex but serves the best food around! Very busy even mid-week so booking is essential but well worth it. Basically Thai based food but plenty of options including gluten-free etc. The salmon was superb, the curry (not too hot) was just great and the service was attentive but not intrusive.OK, it's not cheap so I can only give it 4 stars for value, but we'll be going again!

This is a small sized restaurant which is perfect for a quiet, romantic meal. The service is great and the food is really delicious. It’s pretty pricey but you get what you pay for. Would recommend booking in advance.

I have eaten here a few times now and the food has always been excellent. They have a varied menu with just enough on, you know its fresh, and a great Gin menu.

What a treat to stumble across this little gem in a cute little English town. The food is genuinely authentic (the chef is Thai) and, if you ask, they'd dial up the spice level to Bangkok standards. Yum! Pad thai is not on the menu, but they did it for us and oh my gods of all things delicious. We're visitors from the Far East so we are used to the real deal, and Thirteen Church Street is the real deal.

I dined here for the fourth time last weekend and as usual it was absolutely stunning food-I can't emphasise this enough! The atmosphere is very relaxed and makes for a really enjoyable dining experience. Staff always seem very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend booking in advance because it is very popular. It is quite expensive so be aware of this before you go to ensure that it doesn't affect your experience. For a three course meal for two people (no alcohol) allow around £40 per person.

We visited as a family for dinner midweek. Hadn’t planned to come but remembered a friend talking about this restaurant and saying how good it was. They most definitely weren’t joking. We love Thai food and this restaurant delivered. The menu is not vast approximately 15 main courses. Some familier dishes and some not. Every course was delicious. Fantastic flavours, presentation and some authentic ingredients. I would happily eat here every night but apart from becoming very fat I would also be poor. This is not a cheap meal but well worth the money.

A great place to celebrate a birthday with a great choice of gins. Starters put together on a sharing plate. Beautifully fresh prawns. Main courses all oozing flavour, fresh tasting and simply delicious. Great service. Very good atmosphere. Altogether a tremendous evening!

We had heard so many great things about this restaurant from friends who have visited in the evening. We wanted to go out for lunch and thought we would give this a try. It was amazing value for money. We had the three courses for £20. Sometimes a “value” menu can be a little disappointing, but the menu was so good it was really hard to choose. The food was sensational! Best Pad Thai ever! So glad we tried it for lunch, we will defiantly be back! Highly recommended.

I'd heard good reports of this little secret and faced with the task of educating two teenagers, raised from birth on TV dinners it seemed a good idea. Tucked away in a side street of sleepy Storrington I don't think they rely on passing trade. Parking on street outside the restaurant was fine, might be a problem during the day.

Fabulous food in generous portions from an original menu. The staff were helpful and professional. The prices are a bit steep but I do feel you get what you pay for. My only criticism is the tables are too small and close together. Hopefully the success of this restaurant will ensure bigger premises soon.

Small restaurant that serves delicious food and has a great G&T; menu. Everything is well presented and clean. Due to the size of the restaurant booking is recommended. Will definitely return.

Very enjoyable evening with friends and the food was very good. Excellent service from the staff. Could be a bit warmer though in the restaurant.

We booked in advance and the restaurant kindly called to advise us that a large group had also booked in for that time. They wanted to see if we could arrive a little earlier so that they could be sure to be able to serve us in good time, since everything is prepared freshly. We adjusted our plans accordingly.

We had a delicious meal here, not for the first time. Everything was perfect. I can’t think of a better Thai restaurant, just a pity it’s a long way out of London!

Great food, atmosphere, staff and service. Couldn't be better! If you're in West Sussex and like Thai food, this is as good as it gets. I have never written a review before, even at the best Michelin Star restaurants, but this is exceptional.
