Theo's Greek Restaurant in Calderdale

Popped in before heading to the cinema, so glad we did. Shared the grilled meze and wow, it was amazing! A huge doggy bag taken home 🙂 Great service and value for money.

Very nice place this. Extremely good authentic Greek food. Service was brilliant with all smiles. The food was fresh and had great flavours. We will 100% be back agin for this one.

We came for early dinner so quite quiet, but nice to have full attention of waiter before other ppl came in. Was very hot inside, and bit of a mustiness going on initially but don't let that put you off, cos even though decor felt a bit tired and dusty, the food wads fantastic! So tasty, huge portions and pretty reasonably priced! Waiter was so helpful and packed a doggy bag for us with excess food including dips and the extra desserts we ordered to take away were cheaper than having them in which was great! Definitely recommend if wanting g something bit different not too far from centew of halifax. We popped in after nice walk around the Piece hall!!

Went and had 2 starters, 2 alcoholic drinks each and the sharing grilled meze. All of it was absolutely beautiful, it was extremely quick and was under £60. Can't recommend it highly enough!

The food was excellent ,tasty and fresh .Generous portions .All served by friendly helpful staff .But oh dear !!!!the wait ..We waited one hour 45 mins and others in the restaurant a similar time .It was quite clear the take away service occupied the attention of the staff and to the deteriment of seated customers ,maybe to support the business they need to do this but they really need to reduce customers waiting .

Poor service. Ordered food, then 30 minuites later was told that the specific dish was not available. Waited 1 hour and 20 minutes for food. Food was average. I did ask for discount and the very polite young waiter granted my request. I hope this was just a one off......a shame as one waiter was very polite and helpful.

I placed an order via JustEat that was never delivered. I waited over two hours, tried phoning the restaurant repeatedly, to which nobody answered. Complaint officially lodged with JustEat to try & reclaim the money that this establishment happily took off me, but then never delivered. Disgraceful. Avoid at all costs.

Family of 4, went in tonight and was pretty disappointed. We were there for over 2 hours waiting for food to arrive, and when it did, food didn't arrive at the same time. One main course arrived 35 minutes after the other 3, meaning everyone else had finished and plates cleared away before he got to start. The atmosphere in the restaurant was really stressed - there was one big family party in who were waiting for food when we arrived and still hadn't all been fed when we left. At one point I counted 7 JustEat drivers waiting around, some waiting for a long time. Tip guys - if you can't serve the dining room, stop accepting JustEat. The waiting staff did what they could but they seemed overwhelmed. On the plus side, the food was good when it finally got to the table. Unfortunately the service and timing was amateurish.

I cannot comment on the quality of the food, simply because I never received it. I placed an order with this establishment just before 8pm on the 24th Feb via JustEat. The app advised it would be delivered around 8:30pm, which was perfect timing as the children would then be in bed & I could enjoy a much looked forward to weekend treat. I received a notification on the app to say the order was delayed & would now be delivered at around 8:45pm. Not a problem, it’s a Saturday night, these things happen. 8:45pm came & went. I then received another notification to say the order would now be delivered at 9:10pm & that the delivery driver was at the restaurant waiting for the food. Not great to be 40 minutes later than originally promised, but not the end of the world all things considered. You can see where this is now going…9:10pm came & went, with no notification that the delivery driver was en route either. I tried calling the restaurant to check what was happening - there was no answer & still no food. I called again a further 5 times, meaning 6 calls in total, with still no food & still no answer. It was now after 10:00pm at which point I had given up on ever receiving the order & settled on eating a packet of the children’s Pom Bear crisps instead (don’t tell them) - which, whilst they are lovely, they were not quite the halloumi, chicken & pork extravaganza I had been looking forward to. I have launched an official complaint with JustEat in the hopes of reclaiming back the money for the order I didn’t receive. This establishment is not cheap & they were all too happy to take my money, but have offered no apology, explanation or more importantly anything for me to eat. Should this establishment wish to contest this review, I have screenshots of all the unanswered calls, screenshots from the app showing the delivery driver is apparently ‘waiting at the restaurant’, for 1.5 hours (maybe they helped themselves to my food & enjoyed a sit down meal at my expense who knows) and also data from home CCTV cameras that shows nobody ever turned up on the doorstep or attempted delivery, and believe me, I was looking out of my living room window in anticipation for a very long time. All in all, if you actually want to eat the food you have ordered, go elsewhere. If I could award 0 stars I would. No photos to add to the review as I have already binned the empty crisp packet.

Dined here for the first time. Interior felt like you stepped into Greece. We were warmly greeted on arrival. We ordered the mixed meze which was generous and delicious and fresh. The service was excellent.

Excellent quality , been twice now

Food was beautiful unfortunately just eat drivers messed our order and delivered KFC they obviously realised there mistake and re delivered the original order unfortunately it was all cold but still tasted nice this is now the last time I ever order on just eat my apologies to the restaurant staff for my rant I think next time we will just come to the restaurant

What an absolute diamond of a place, this is by far one of the best places to dine in Halifax. We have frequented quite regularly and always had a great meal and great service.

AMAZING food and friendly staff. Our waiter was great and very polite and the food was gorgeous, authentic Greek. We were brought out a sharer of pitta bread and olive tapanade while we waited for our main to arrive, which was a nice touch. Our main was the mixed meze to share, we had to take some home in a box because we couldn't finish it all! We'll definitely be back again.

Had a lovely evening, I visit Greece regularly and can say the food here is really good. Authentic Greek cooking and lovely staff. The atmosphere was good, we went early but as we were leaving it was filling up and you could feel the atmosphere going up a gear. Shout out to the waiter Alex who had to deal with a table of 9 ageing women. Ha ha ha. Can definitely recommend

Four of us dined here on Saturday night and we all thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. The service was impeccable, the food delicious and plentiful and the prices were excellent value for money including the price of the wine. We will definitely be back soon......

This was a first visit. Easily accessible near the bus station, this is possibly a spacious, warm converted pub. Friendly welcome, great service and fabulous food. We chose the meze for 2 people and enjoyed a feast, High quality delicious food. Accompanied by a glass of house red, this was a great meal and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back.

The food is superb, the service is superb and the friendly atmosphere is perfect for family dining. The amazing staff even went out of their way to bring a box of toys for the two year old in our group to play with. The whole experience was wonderful. Theo's is highly recommended and my family will be visiting again. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Reallly lovely food in a lovely restaurant. Food was delicious. Staff were competent and knowledgeable but did experience a wait time.

We met up with old friends at Theo's and we were not disappointed by the whole dining experience. The service was very good, the waiter being pleasant and efficient. The food was hot, well presented and cooked to perfection. I had the Moussaka and my husband had the leg of lamb, both were excellent. Our only criticism was that the portions were rather large and we couldn't do them justice. We will definitely be visiting again and would highly recommend.

Great food with excellent service

Food is fab. Service is good with extremely helpful staff. Value for money is amazing...I was almost overwhelmed with the quantity of food! I won't be eating lunch next time I go 🤣 The only thing I have to fault was a lovely guy playing live music, which was brilliant except it was so loud you couldn't converse without shouting which is not great if you're trying for an intimate meal...this was the only negative though...just turn the volume down please!!! I will be visiting again, though & in all honesty, I can't wait!

Had a day out in Halifax and booked Theo's for early evening. Great place, great food and great service. Food is delicious and the portions are huge. We had a starter and a main (felt bad that we couldn't eat it all the main as we didnt realise how big the portions were going to be!). Desserts looked appetizing so we brought them home as a take away option and they were delicious too. Will definitely be going back.

First time for us yesterday but will definately not be our last, food absolutely fantastic, staff friendly and attentive and fabulous value for money great job guys keep up the good work see you soon

Visited Theo’s this evening as a family of 8 and a baby! Fabulous service from very respectful waiters, delicious top quality food, value for money, lovely atmosphere. Totally recommend

If you like authentic Greek food then give Theo's a try, we went with another couple last Thursday and really enjoyed our meals. I had the Moussaka and it was to die for, took me back to Kefalonia with every mouthful, big portions though so don't think it's going to be a snack. Very friendly staff and nice surroundings. We would most definitely recommend it and we will be going back.

Amazingly delicious authentic Greek food, large portions and good value for money. Great menu choice and they do the most amazing vegetarian meze (they also do a vegan one). Our service was a little slow but it gave us the chance to sit and talk and spend some quality down time together as a family which we rarely get to do and the wait was 110% worth it! The food was fantastic!

Wow, wow, wow!!! The food here is absolutely amazing! Authentic Greek food at a great price… portion sizes are very big and its delicious! The vegetarian meze is one of the best dishes I’ve ever had! Absolutely Lovely Restraunt so welcoming we ate there on sunday the 1st of October. The young waiter who looked after us was amazing. We had the Meze for two and it was delicious and plentiful. Can't wait to visit again.

Lovely food. Great portion sizes. Thoroughly recommend the souvlaki, the tirokefteri and the prawn saganaki. 30/09 update Went back today and had... grilled prawn starter, pork yeeros (giros) and house potatoes. Huge portions. Prawns were ever so slightly overcooked but very tasty, The yeeros portion was beautiful and succulent and the potatoes were perfectly cooked. I took the Portokalopita home as I could not eat anymore. The portions here are typically greek, plentiful!

We decided to do a test run of Theo’s after enjoying many meals there under previous ownership . We decided to go for a takeaway and had the mixed meat meze and some other starters . The meal was excellent value and cooked perfectly , there was a great variety and all was very fresh and tasty . We will definitely progress to an in person visit very soon . Great quality and value

I cant believe we live so close to this restaurant and have not been before. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We were sat straight down with the offer of drinks. The food is to die for. The portions are more than enough for even the biggest appetite. My familly and I will be calling in again in the very near future. I would recommend this restaurant for a family meal out. 04/0£/2023 Still eating here and it is still great food and great service. Got a take out this time. Try them out for yourself.

First time at this restaurant, had a wonderful evening to celebrate my birthday with my wife and a couple of close friends, we all thoroughly enjoyed our evening, the staff are amazing, the food is delicious, felt a little guilty as the portions are quite large and we couldn’t eat it all ( next time we might skip the starter) 😀 the atmosphere is quite relaxed, there was plenty of time between courses to chat and digest the first course before the freshly prepared mains arrived, couldn’t fit a dessert in but maybe next time 😀 will definitely be going again and also they do take out and delivery’s 😀😀😀😀😀

This was our first visit to Theo's but it definitely won't be our last visit. The food was plentiful, lovely and good value. The young man who served us was polite and very helpful. Nice clean and bright restaurant.

As others have said, the food and staff at the recently reopened Theo's are great, as is the decor, furnishings and table settings. However, as others have also said, the portion sizes are far too generous and the courses arrive before the preceding one has been finished. The complimentary olive tapenade and warm pitta bread which was served as soon as we'd ordered our wine, starters and mains was a surprising and delightful introduction to the restaurant. However, the starters arrived before the tapenade and bread had been savoured and, well before we'd enjoyed the first course, the enormous serving boards bearing the mains were delivered to the table. The charming waiter actually apologised for their arrival at this point but, given that the kitchen is open to the restaurant, allowing kitchen staff to see what's going on, there was no reason to send it out whilst we were enjoying the first course. The main courses were cooling down before we began them and almost cold before we'd ploughed through all the food. The waiter did allow us a reasonable break before bringing menus so we could decide on a pudding and/or coffee, for which we were grateful but the whole evening could have been so much better if we had been allowed time to savour the food and have a break between mouthfuls. We will definitely return to Theo's; the food is of exceptional quality, but I do hope that the owners take note of the comments about portion sizes and timing for diners. I make this final comment as it was obvious that there is a thriving food delivery service being run alongside the restaurant with drivers frequently collecting orders throughout our time there. I imagine that the kitchen is geared towards preparing those orders in as short a time as possible but that requirement really mustn't be carried through to the restaurant if repeat visits aren't to be discouraged.

Lovely meal before an event at the Piece Hall. Our waiter, Alex, was very helpful and so polite. He was very conscious of following excellent hygiene. We ordered greek olives and halloumi for starters and this came with pitta and tapenade. It was filling in its own right. The main course, served on a board, was huge. We both chose vegetarian moussaka. It was delicious but I was only able to eat half of the whole meal as it came with chips, salad and more pitta. Too much food. I heard others saying the same as the staff collected their half finished meal plates. It felt sad and wrong to waste so much food. Smaller portions would be highly acceptable and with environmental issues and cost of living issues, much more appropriate. Prices were fair, we thought, however next time we will order less, therefore spend less.

So pleased we found this beautiful gem in Halifax. The food was delicious and plentiful, the service was friendly and the staff are obviously proud of the food. It was very clean and the decor reminiscent of places we dined at in Cyprus. Prices reasonable too. We will definitely be returning. We went late on a Sunday night and we were the only people in there so food was out quick.

Got a cheeky takeaway on my way home from a gig at the Piece Hall. I refused to pay the prices at the Greek Street Food van so had the idea of ordering from here on the way home - definitely paid off! I had been craving for hours and this hit the spot - £6 cheaper than the street food van!

Food when arrived was cold, salty and disgusting £37.00 down the drain will never order from you again so disappointed

We ordered a takeaway from Theo’s Greek Restaurant for the first time today and it did not disappoint. It was actually one of the best takeaways we’ve ever had. We got the Meat Meze & Prawn Saganaki starter. The prawns were really tasty and plenty of sauce. The meat meze was something else, you get a lot of food and it’s all so well cooked and tastes lovely, don’t have one single complaint - it really was that good. The food was ready bang on the collection time & staff were friendly. Next time we will definitely sit in.

My friend and I had heard such good things about Theo’s, newly open under new management. Our waiter Stiros was excellent from start to finish, and the food was amazing, good sized portions and food cooked to perfection. Highly recommend a visit, we will be back.

Just happened to be my girlfriends birthday on the 23rd of march, I saw online it was the grand re-opening day so we popped in only to find it shut however after seeing someone through the window we waved and they came to the door, the grand opening wasn't until 6pm but the welcomed us in 5 hours early. The guy doing the serving was lovely, the meal was lovely and I'm passionate about veggie moussaka as iv traveled all over the place and have had some shall we say "very dodgy moussaka's" Theo's did not disappoint, the starters, the main (huge portions to we could fit pudding in) were fantastic We got a discount as we were their first ever customers and free coffee after our meal Met the new owner too and he was really welcoming even though I bet it was a stressful day I hope you guys have great success and we shall endeavour to call in again

We heard Theos was under new ownership so we thought we'd give it a try. Good decision!! Our waiter was lovely and the food was amazing. Between us we had Prawn Saganaki, Mixed Grill, Lamb Kleftico, and shared Greek Orange Cake and Ice Cream for dessert. Beautiful food with fabulous Greek flavours. We are fortunate to have such a wonderful restaurant in our town. You've simply got to try it. We'll be back in a heartbeat and wish the new owners every possible success.

What an amazing restaurant! The food is great (chicken skewers and moussaka we had) with fresh chips and pitta bread to go with and the portions are enormous. The prices are very good and affordable and the service is very warm and friendly! The restaurant is beautifully decorated and it did feel as if I was back home.... Very highly recommended to people who want to experience the Greek cuisine. You'll visit again, I know I will!

Went for a family meal. Had been, when under previous owners and decided to try out under the new owners. The food was excellent, but feel the service could have been better. For example we needed to ask for drinks prior to ordering food. Whilst eating our starters, the main course arrived before we had finished the starters. These examples did not spoil our time their, but must be learnt from. Would definitely go their again as the food is so good.

New management 2 weeks ago. Waiter’s first night so not his fault but he was overwhelmed and didn’t appear to have have had any basic training. There were 5 tables (14 diners in total) so not busy. But the just eat orders kept coming in. We were close enough to hear the “you have a new order” on the printer 🤣. Just a few tips… take order, take away menus then serve drinks. People will wait a bit for food if they have a drink. Don’t bring starter with Main course (they did) but not before they had given us a ‘free starter’ which another table didn’t seem to get? So not sure what that was all about. We had flat breads and 3 dips to share for a starter. Dips were huge. Save money and cut that down by half. Food portions were huge… all served on a wooden board. Chips were soggy (get better chips or hotter fat) don’t put even more flatbread on with the main… and more tzatziki… honestly you are throwing away profit. Just eat drivers seemed to be hanging around for ages…. So something not quite right with timings in the kitchen. All of these comments are meant to be constructive and helpful. Will be a nice location if they get the food right and the bits mentioned

Very welcoming staff. The meat dishes were very tasty but I personally disappointed with the Greek potatoes & the spanokopita. I was expecting Greek oven potatoes which are usually cooked with lemon & olive oil, these were just plain, well cooked but not what I was expecting. The pastry on the spanokopita was a bit tough & a little bit more filling would have been nice. However overall it was a good experience

Visited on a Saturday early evening, the place was a little quiet…but I can’t understand why… The food was amazing, the meat meze was plentiful and delicious. The Baclava was fabulous, the kids demolished a second portion and they are fussy eaters! This is a wonderful place to eat, with a cheerful and welcoming staff. They cannot do enough for you, even the chef visited the table. I will certainly visit again and again.

A very warm welcome and staff who couldn't do enough to help us. Had a great night with friends, didn't feel rushed even though we stayed and chatted (lots). Very tasty starters and a lovely moussaka main. Between us all, we had the veggie and meat versions. Everyone was really happy with their food.
