The food at Engine Social is so tasty, with good size portions of small plates, we had 8 between 3 of us , which was more than enough, the flavours are so different, and the quality of the food is amazing. The staff are also very friendly, and it’s clear they have a very good working relationship, and all work at a very fast pace, Keeping the food coming, which is not in any particular order. All in all this restaurant is faultless, so book early to avoid disappointment, as they are always booked weeks in advance

I really fine it hard to understand why this restaurant is rated so highly. For me it’s over hyped and to compare it to top London restaurants is obscene. The food is greasy and too rich, they try too hard with each dish which then means it just ends up been a bowl of random ingredients. Definitely overpriced and over hyped.

Absolutely blown away by the quality of the food served here. We shared 12 dishes between 4 of us and we were delighted with all of them. Suggest 3 dishes per head is about right for most people. Would struggle to choose a favourite due to the fact that all were amazing. Desserts were also top notch. We will be back!

We've been here half a dozen times, every time we've had something new and surprising, invariably delicious. We tend to get 4-6 items between two of us, and finish with an espresso martini 🥰

If Carlsberg did Tapas restaurants!...... Some of the best food I've ever tasted! You MUST try the sweet potato wedges!! To die for!!!!!! Beer, service, atmosphere, everything top drawer. Will be back soon. 100% recommended.

Luckily we got the last available table which we booked 4 weeks ago - that in itself sounded very positive!! Whilst the menu is essentially in tapas style, it is also quite different to your typical Spanish offering, with lots of Asian influences. Between 4 of us we had 5 fish/seafood plates to start - anchovies (served on a puffed flatbread), prawn toast (but not like the traditional Chinese one) , crab chips (beautifully flavoured crab meat served on little crisps), seared tuna and the oven baked flatbread with dips. Thankfully each plate had 4 servings, so easy for us to share. After a nice break we moved to meat and veg. Pulled pork gyozas, tempura chicken tacos, cauliflower croquettes, beetroot with feta, roasted cabbage and tenderstem broccoli with soy. All the flavours were amazing, Good bottle of Tempranillo too. We’ve just checked availability to return and weekends are fully booked until September

You wouldn't call the food delicate or subtle but it's bold, rich, skillfully cooked and delicious. Bream dish a highlight, as well as apple cake. Very friendly and buzzy.

Engine is a fantastic restaurant. We went there for a family meal so ordered 15 dishes to share. I can genuinely say every dish was very tasty. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming. We live half an hour drive away but will be back for sure.

Warm hospitality meets fine dining. You can see why it’s in the Michelin guide. Visited several times throughout the years and never disappointed! Will be returning soon!

First time here after hearing good things, we were not disappointed. Every dish was well made and presented. Service was very good. Only drawback is you have to book well in advance but found out while we were there you can walk in and sit at the bar on the tall stools. Very enjoyable experience

Top Notch Nosh! Hitting above loads of London restaurants trying to accomplish a similar menu and style with a meal you couldn't have there for double the money+ with their 6 out of the park. That tuna's a stunner. Must try!

Great atmosphere and service, incredible food. The cauliflower & manchego croquettas were so good I had to get another plate of them! I wish I had the stomach to try everything on the menu. We'll definitely be coming back for more

Honestly some of the best food I have had out. Every dish was delicious and flavoured so well. I particularly liked the sweet potato wedges, and the salt and pepper chicken wings. The food came out in parts, which was okay. The service was super friendly and our waitress was very attentive. Well defo visit again!

An amazing tapas restaurant with a great selection of dishes, all with heaps of flavour and interesting ingredients. Everything we tried seemed of very high quality. Nicely set up and the staff was friendly. The only small minus point I’d give to the atmosphere, as the place gets very loud and it is at times hard to keep conversation going without having to raise one’s voice. But will definitely return for the food.

Top place, make sure you book well in advance as its very popular and gets booked quick.

After a long drive from London , we finally arrived at the Engine. A place that was mentioned in the Michelin guidebook, and what's better than turning up to a very warm and friendly Northern restaurant with great food ? We've been many times. For Friday and Saturday evenings you must book a couple of months in advance. Super food, good service and bubbly atmosphere.

This is my new favourite local restaurant, serving up stunning world tapas style dishes, we went for valentines day and it was flawless, great service, great food, great atmosphere! What’s not to love! I would highly recommend it!

We were truly blown away by everything at this super restaurant - from the greeting the staff the decor the table wear & most importantly the delicious food - so much too choose from - their were 3 of us & we chose 8 dishes between us all coming in a nice space apart & we oohhed & aaahed over all of them undecided as to which where our favourites! (The chicken wings were mine )! We finished on a to die for sticky toffee pudding with gingerbread ice cream - superb! We were served by a delightful young lady who was attentive & friendly - from start to finish the whole experience was 10/10

Regular visitor over the years, how this place doesn't have a Michelin star shocks me. The food is amazing, the service matches and the the effort and care put into everything is obvious. Highly recommend the tiger prawns and fillet steak, to die for!

Booked in for my daughters birthday (she's a grown up so not a kids party!) and our table was immediately ready and very cozy it was too. I like it when you can see into the cooking area - it means meals are cooked to order, not just 'warmed up'! We ordered from a very decent size menu - lots to choose from to suit everyone's tastes. I can sometimes be disappointed at tapas restaurants by the size of the dishes or when there are three of something and there are four of you etc. Anyway we had 10 dishes between the four of us and they were all pretty decent sized, but even the Japanese beef strips (which were very small) were actually just right. We loved every single dish. So tasty and some I'd not seen before so well done to the chef(s) for good menu creativity. We ate every morsel and had to admit we were very full, so goes to show the portion sizes here are perfectly judged! Still had room for a white chocolate cheesecake which was divine! We were also very impressed by the quite young waiter who had a very good knowledge about the menu being able to explain to us what each was (something you don't always find with servers) and he was very attentive throughout our meal. In summary a five star restaurant with five star service and five star food. Can't wait to visit again soon

Wonderful experience. Gorgeous restaurant with polite friendly front of house staff and excellent food. We were looking for something a bit special for an all-too-rare family get-together and could not have made a better choice. We ate far too much - everything was so good that we just kept ordering more. And the presentation of the dishes was consistently outstanding. Standouts for me were the cauliflower croquettes (that sauce!) and seared wagyu (on as a special). Others loved the red curry cod fritters. The dining room did feel a little austere in the gloom of a drizzly afternoon, so we will have to return in the evening. can't wait

Fabulous food, for the best experience, ask for the walk-in bar seats as you get to see the kitchen working. Brilliant wine choices and coffees were strong and smooth.

Visited today with on a family trip up north, having taken my parents word for how good this place was (and having looked at various pictures online) we went with them for lunch. The menu was not small, and seemed to cater for a variety of tastes, including chips with ketchup which kept our boy happy. Between the 4 adults I we had about 8 dishes, although truth be told, I feel I would have happily tried one of everything, although I was pleasantly full after sharing the dishes we picked…I did find room for a cheese board though, which was truly outstanding. A great variety of cheeses, and not the standard apple, celery and crackers but something completely different. I was not disappointed with what I ate and I would definitely go back. I’ve seen some comments on price being expensive, but I feel it’s competitively priced and would pay for food of that quality any day of the week.

First trip yesterday . Great interior we sat facing the kitchen , great experience and good been able to talk to the chefs . The food came out fast and was clearly all homemade and with chefs that’s care . Had a good chat with the head chef / owner. Out and out favourite was the crab chips we will 100% be back

A friend recommended this restaurant to us and I’m so glad they did. The food was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was great and the staff were both friendly and super efficient. We had booked a table but opted for a seat at the kitchen counter so we could see the chefs work their magic. It was wonderful to see how everything was prepared and how well the chefs worked together to create so many excellent dishes in such a small kitchen. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone! We already plan to return having made reservations for the next couple of months. Can’t wait!

As far as modern Mediterranean small plates eateries go Engine certainly deserves its place at the top of the list. We chose 6 dishes between us and each one was a pure delight. Thoughtfully and delicately prepared perfect dishes of food came one after the other to provide an amazing array of flavours. If you’re in this part of the world you must visit Sowerby Bridge’s true culinary delight!

Table service was superb, food cooked to perfection, friendly and lovely environment. Even though not local to us, it was well worth the drive. Would definitely go again.

You have to book far out in advance to find a spot but it’s worth Super super high end food with amazing flavours with lots of layers Good wine selection and the Alhambra lager is honestly one of the tastiest pints I’ve had. Service here is always top notch and everyone are always friendly and welcoming

UPDATE: Once again top notch food, its really good as a tapas with so many great sounding dishes we can order plenty of them and sample as many as we can eat. I love love love this restaurant and have been there many times, I am also a big fan of their New Years Eve box (hint hint). Favourite this time was the Japanese beef which was on the specials menu, also very very good were the cauliflower croquettes. Service was, as always, impeccable despite the fact they were uber busy and the wine, a lovely bottle of White Rioja, was bursting with flavours of lemon curd and pineapple. Everything was delicious, beautifully flavoured, seasoned and presented and just an absolute pleasure to devour. The portions varied in size depending on what the dish was and you clearly have to pace yourself accordingly but it was just gorgeous from start to finish.
