Welcoming staff. Great value. Fantastic Sunday dinner. Came Saturday night for some drinks and booked for Sunday Lunch the following day. Very impressed with the size and quality of the dinner. All Staff very friendly.

Chicken came out cold, jacket potato looked as if it was from the day before. Complained to the chef he didn’t even apologise. Customer service is awful. Never will I return here.

I have never felt compelled to leave a review directly after leaving a restaurant ( joke) . The ‘ restaurant’ serves average pu food that is average as a rating. The basic amenities are in my opinion below health inspection standards. Without going into too much toilet details the basic amenities are appalling . No toilet seat no toilet paper filthy floors and poor bathroom hygiene. This was brought to the managers attention, who addressed the issue as a flippant issue and treated as a joke. Our visit will NEVER be returned.

I live locally and haven't been here for many years as the food had gone downhill. Thought we'd give it a try for Sunday lunch, so glad we did. Great carvery with plenty of meat and the desserts were huge. It was so good we decided to return a couple of weeks later for evening meal. The food again was lovely, all 12 meals came out boiling hot and everyone agreed it was really tasty. They finally got it right, good quality food and drink at good prices. Obviously many others also agree since the car park is usually overflowing on sundays and evenings .

Attended with family for a birthday celebration, ordered all our meals, bar staff and waitresses lovely, good manners, however what was ordered is not what we were given, as I am fussy asked for my meal to be taken back, upon being given another meal 5 mins later to which I was advised this is a fresh, well for a fresh it was cold not warm hot but freezing cold with the bottom of it black, others could not eat theirs either, some had to eat because of their illness but really did not want to as the food was vile, this is the 3rd occasion of dining here, never again will I dine here.

Rang here on the off chance for a Sunday lunch. Within half hour we were in and sat at our table. Quick service and delicious tasting food, which was piping hot! This is a lovely pub but it could be so much better!! The pub itself is in desperate need of a makeover!! The carpets are very worn and dirty and the toilets need updating, the staff were lovely and tables were immediately cleaned when people left.

Staff were amazing considering my nephew was sick due to having to meny to drink they were understanding they were very friendly and could ask for better service especially the one person who worked there with the coloured hair was outstanding very nice people and chef was really good with us. There passion fruit was lush and at a very cheap price

I can’t fault the Sunday lunch is was lovely and huge portions. HOWEVER, the women that “greated” was beyond rude, she had no manners there was no explanation how the carvery worked, as changes had been made due to covid. There were no manners from any of the staff to be honest and masks weren’t even on their faces half the time . All I can say is it’s a shame the staff are so rude and morbid as they’d get a lot more service as the Sunday roast is lovely.

We were seated less than 2m away from the table next to us and were not told how to order our food. After sitting and waiting a while we had to ask the couple next to us if we had to go to the bar or if someone would come to take our order. They explained that we had to scan the barcode on the table and order via our phone. As soon as our food was brought to the table the waitress asked for our payment so we did this whilst our food was getting cold in front of us. We then had to make another payment once our dessert had arrived. My dessert had to be returned as the pastry was very undercooked.

Went here for a Sunday carvery today, was absolutely over the moon with the service. The food was perfectly cooked, all you can eat and the price was really decent. The staff were wonderful, it was my friends birthday and they came over with a cake to sing with us. Highly recommend, will be returning most Sundays now! Food was, on the whole lovely but one of the steaks was clearly well done when we wanted medium and we were told on the phone a marquee would be outside, only to arrive to two big umbrellas and individual small ones for each table, this left everyone exposed to the elements marring an otherwise generally pleasant experience.

There a few months ago it was sort of ok, with family this time for 70th birthday meal, it was packed out, it was exceptionally warm hence the 4/5.Got our vouchers and all went to get out food being a carvery, the food was excellent the guy serving on the meat section was one of his own, fabulous character, nothing to much for him, thanks to all the staff.see you again soon

Ordered four meals and waited 40 minutes for two out of four meals to come. As the boss typed in the wrong table number the other two meals got sent to a different table! Had to sit there and wait another 20 minutes for the rest of our tables food, while sitting there hungry and watching the other two people eat their food, when the food did come the gammon was not cooked properly and the korma was not edible! No taste bland watery “curry” with a overwhelming amount of spice! We have been regulars to this restaurant for 16 years and today was the last and final time we will be coming here! Terrible food, the only saving grace was the young servers who couldn’t stop apologising !

Booked out the function room for a family event, on arrival the room wasn't ready and they had no idea we was booked in even though a deposit was paid, after throwing out some tables, chairs, knifes and forks we was told it's ready, we had to get the menus ourselves (no big deal) ordered foot about 7,40 and it turned up around 9,10 it wasn't worth the wait, I don't think any of the 20 something people enjoyed what was thrown on the plates the meat on the mixed grills seem like cheap frozen stuff you'd get from farm foods, cornbeef pie was old and stale, the chef has no idea on how to cook a steak (or the very pink/bloody lamb chop they put on my plate) I can see now why they take payment before the food arrives noone in thier right mind would pay for that monstrosity!!! Never again!!!

Can’t thank the Ynyscynon enough. They were generous enough to sponsor our under 12’s rugby team at Aberdare RFC. Aside to their generosity I visit the pub weekly with my family and friends. The welcome we receive is second to none and the food is always served prompt , hot and always tasty.

Wow!! 11 of us dined here today for carvery Sunday. Absolutely amazing!! Such good value, I can't praise it enough to be honest. The best carvery, particularly the beef, which was melt in the mouth, literally the best carvery any of us has ever had. The staff were amazing too and so polite and accommodating. The young lady waitress who attended to us, was amazing. Can't wait to return for my 40th in October! Stunning.

Visited here as a group of 7 for a birthday meal. The food was beautiful and reasonably priced. Fab meal last night, there was 9 of us no complaints from anyone, children’s meal good value and quite large. Welcoming staff and can’t fault service we were given. Will certainly go back again. Lovely play area for the children.

Visited on Sunday and had a carvery. Only £7 and I believe it's the best in Aberdare. The food was delicious, very close to homemade with a wide selection of meat and veg. Staff were welcoming and would definitely recommend!

We have visited here twice now when seeing family in the area. We chose here because it has a big beer garden with a good playground for the kids. This is a massive plus point because it means the kids can enjoy themselves and we can all catch up. The food however is below standard and both times we have been unimpressed. It’s not that expensive but you do expect it to taste good. The staff are ok though - friendly and helpful.

This place needs a good shake up!! Absolutely awful. We booked for 12 people for a birthday celebration and the service was extremely poor.

Great pub, friendly, happy, helpful staff & very accommodating towards plantbased diets. Chef came out to run through vegan menu and was more than happy to supply alternative items such as sauces.

Who is running this place! It was Bank Holiday Monday and we called to see the opening hours! At first we were informed 'open all day', then we close at 3 p.m.! I ask you!

What a brilliant evening!! I have an allergy and the Chef personally came to speak to me and went through the menu to show me what I could and could not eat. The service was great and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal - our mains were delicious and their home made ice cream is amazing. I am now tempted to go back on Sunday to try out their Carvery!!

Had my wedding reception in the function room. Was only a small party.Had a buffet food was outstanding all my guests commented how fabulous it was. Staff worked really hard decorating the room & their service was second to none. Would highly recommend the venue.

If you want to go to this place because it says "vegetarian friendly" then look elswhere! This place is extremely discriminatory towards vegetarians, when asked the vegetarian option the Chef took it upon himself to come out of the kitchen with other members of staff and make fun of vegetarians infront of paying customers and tell us to "f*ck off " Also seen other reviews of relatives of employees bullying customers and staff being abusive AVOID THE YNYSCYNON INN!!!!!

Chef was extremely rude about dietary requirements in our party and several members of staff were rude also, how is this place still open? Food took ages too AVOID!!!!!

The Ynyscynon always offers high standard food and service, they also offer Sunday Carvery now, one of the cheapest in the area and the nicest Carvery I have had, food is freshly prepared, everyone is friendly and superb setting offers beer garden, child play area. Can't recommend highly enough.

Came here for lunch and what a little gem we found Beautiful setting and beer garden perfect for the kids. Excellent Service from the staff. Very welcoming and friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Having read a few mixed reviews, influenced by a friends positive comments we decided to give it a try. The meal was amazing started off with a combo shared for two, I had a 10 oz sirloin steak with jacket potato, pepper sauce and salad, the wife had salmon with jacket potato and salad, washed down with a good bottle of red wine, we managed a desert - sticky toffee pudding and cream and a coffee to follow. It surpassed all expectations - faultless! Will definitely go back - think we'll try the carvery on Sunday. :)

Popped in here for family Sunday lunch, all had the carvery, good choice of meats and veg, not much talking as all enjoying the food. The meat melted to the touch of the knife and tasted heavenly, veg was freshly cooked and perfect. Found out that it was their first carvery, well all I can say is that if they continue with this standard, they will fill the pub with very happy and full customers. Will look forward to coming back the next time I'm this way.

Arrived at this venure on the off chance there was a table spare for lunch .we were lucky to be seated it was very busy .we were not disapointed with our meal tried for the first time chicken and sweetcorn soup with a fresh roll and butter it was lovely. We both had the sunday lunch my partner with 3 meats snd myself with lamb it was lovely .all our veg was fresh and served lovely and hot .the service was good and staff plesant and helpful .very reasonable sunday lunch with the majority of the desserts home made .we will be back maybe try an evening meal next time .

3 adults and 3 kiddies!! Kiddies food was good! Lovely chicken nuggets - ice cream included, which wasn’t good quality! Mixed grill and a gammon - gammon far better than the dry over cooked mixed grill!! Shocked by the soup of the day! Very green in colour - but horrible! Had a sharp taste to it! One spoon was enough! Complained to the waitress, nothing done!! Very disappointing, will not be going back!! Bar staff and waitresses were lovely!! Chefs unprofessional and obviously can’t cook to an appropriate standard!!

We usually visit this great pub restaurant before making our way home from the valleys as it is always so reliable on the food front with a very good menu to cater for all tastes and budgets. We love to eat here as it is a tradition within our family and it has special memories of great evenings with families and special moments!!

went here about 14 of us, forgot a meal, chips were awful like had been cooked in old fat, peas not even green, and when spoke to chef came out of kitchen, no hat on open shirt and terrible attitude, to which a member of our party had to tell him about the way he shouted at us, to treat customer in this way and not accept feed back and deal with appropriately is absolutely disgusting, ruined what was a 30th birthday party meal and family who had travelled a long way, then had ask for cake back which was meant to be a surprise because how much the apparent chef upset us.

A small group of us arrived here for lunch on a quiet mid week day and found the staff really attentive and the food very good indeed. Would definitely eat here again when in the area.

We hired the room for a small family wedding reception and I’ve got to be honest the staff couldn’t do enough to accommodate us,the buffet supplied was plentiful they helped with the table decorations and were on hand at anytime.The location with it’s ample car park and children’s play area made the experience run even smoother.Drinks were reasonably priced and of good quality,everyone commented on what a great evening they’d had.

Extremely rude staff. Popped in for lunch and we were told the kitchen closes in 2 mins and not to bother ordering food. Ordered food as we knew what we wanted and it came out completely wrong despite being very direct about what we wanted.

This is the second time we have visited here only due to family occasions.the first visit i had a meat dish which was well overdone ,so I thought I would try fish this time,big mistake fish was well overdone and the chips were awful,they put two eggs on my wife's Gannon to hide the size of the fat. Cheap quality produce and poor cooking.

I attended a family meal tonight , had a mixed grill and the only plus point was the sausage, everything else was poor quality or overcooked.even the cake was really dry. I won't be revisiting for a long time.

The food is quite nice, nothing special but better than the average rubbish served at places like Brewers Fayre.

This was the third time we've been back to the Ynyscynon in the last few weeks. It's ideal for us with a young child as there's a reasonable play area with lots of tables in the front. There are also lovely views of the area, perfect for watching the sunset too!

Had been previously and was looking forward to our meal. Appreciative that Sundayd will be busy and wanting an evening meal, our orders were delivered by 1.30, meal booked for 6pm. Having arrived before 6pm we expected our meals not long after. Our meals were served just before 7pm.lovely meal!! Really enjoyed. We were looking forward to desserts so after 20 mins of waiting I asked for the dessert menu, after another 15mins I asked if we could place our order, to which I was told we had yo order at the bar! Which was already full with only 1 young lady serving.Gentleman infoent of me had to change his order as they had run out of corned beef pie, possibly hence why my portion was so small even though pre ordered!! I asked if we could have our cake which I gave in and 9 plates along with a jug of cream which I asked to added to my bill. Whilst sat down waiting I was told we could only have serviettes!! No plates! When asked why I was told we had to have serviettes and nothing else! Having spent over £100, this evening has left a bitter taste in our mouths and so will not be returning. Gutted as we had planned a 40th wedding anniversary for 20 people next month.

Mi compañero tenía casero casero y mi madre tenía carne casero & ale tarta. Ambos acordaron que era delicioso. Me he comido a menudo en este local y siempre ha sido lo suficientemente agradable, pero hoy tengo que decir que fue fabuloso.

Came here for my other halfs birthday, they let me arrive early to decorate the table. Food is so yummy! I have a BBQ chicken melt thing and best food I've had in a long time. Pudding isn't so good I have a sundae they are pre made in a plastic cup and then slotted into a sundae glass. They are rock hard and taste like cardboard which is a shame. So go here for main door but I would advise not a sundae

Been here twice in last fortnight. Food is very good , plenty of variety and good value. Nice ambience. Only two criticisms - they need to wary of smoke being sucked in through open doors by those having a fag outside and on the both occasions we had slow service between the (prebooked) mains and the desert. Too slow in clearing and taking the desert order.

Have been there a few times over the last few months. Enjoyed the food each time. Last time was a really sunny day and sat in the lovely spacious beer garden and watched the world go by. Staff always friendly.

Booked table for 14 for a send off for my son who is moving away. Kept waiting at bar for 20 mins before we could tell anyone we had arrived. Sat down and not told there was no longer waitress service so eventually went back to bar and was rudely told to get our own menus. Eventually ordered bar and after 1 hour wait for starters, my 14 year old went up to ask how long and was told " you were late and we are busy so it will come when it comes !". I really had to refrain from going up there myself as didn't want to spoil the night for everyone. If I hadn't already paid in advance I would have left. When we did get the starters the pate was frozen and after it was returned it came back sludgy and warm obviously been through the microwave. Overall most of the food was good but the service was appalling and I won't be returning

After a slight mishap on our last visit, we decided to give the Ynyscynon Inn a second chance. Upon arrival we were greeted with a smile and a nice warm welcome by the young lady behing the bar. We were shown to our table and proceeded to decide on our meals. My partner went to the bar to order at about 18:50. We sat patiently and waited for out food. As we waited two large parties arrived and were served their starters before we had received our order. We noticed that there were 5 or 6 waitresses stood around in the kitchen serving one table at a time. After a 45 minute wait, we received our 2 main meals and side dish, which were luke warm. However, we were too hungry to send it back and also concerned about how long it would then take for them to provide fresh, warm meals as we had cinema tickets booked. We left without a check back or our table being cleared. The food was of a suitable standard, its just a shame about the temperature.

went there on the 20/3/16 we had the chicken tikka. service was good. and the drink was cheap £2.70 for lager and cider . we will call again to the ynyscynon we enjoyed the evening.

What can I say the food was amazing, best Sunday roast I have had loads of desserts to chose from. Staff were friendly and made sure we had everything and extra veg, gravy and roasties. 13 of us went not one complaint perfect. Would highly recommend this restaurant and great value for money , can't wait to go again.

The only words we could use for this place is "awful". The so called chef has no idea how to cook and has no idea of quality standards and techniques. The beer is average and the service is poor. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere. Shocking

Brilliant place to go for family meals, birthday means and as a couple best pub food I have ever had visit here on most occasions! Can't understand all of the negative feedback on here! Couldn't moan about anything people are being really picky! Recommend the chicken with barbeque and cheese also the cheapest pub food I have ever had and also the nicest!!

Went to the pub with the family it has nice decour throughout and also has a small childrens play area out the front which we have used in the past.The meals were really tasty and not to expensive with be going again

Went for a meal on the 23 in the night me and my fiancée food was out standing best meal we had in a long time staff was friendly and helpful I recommend the ultimate mix grill 31os cooked perfect I definitely go back there and I recommend them 2 friends and family

Convenient parking, nice food- never been disappointed and have visited many times. Prefer the evening meals (curry, lasagne) to the Sunday dinner but never had a bad meal here.

Went to Ynyscynon Thursday lunchtime , I love fish so went for it , I think I would rather had fish fingers ! The centre of the fish was cold and the taste not what I expected ! Definitely not a fresh fish taste ! I love to support local people but sometimes they must help by buying good produce not the cheapest . I gues there are good things on the menu but sadly Not the fish.

A family member booked us a table here for a birthday celebration, after reading reviews I wasn't really looking forward to it but i was pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly and helpful, the service was quick, and the food was beautiful, I was surprised by how cheap it was, ok for that price you wouldn't expect home cut chips but the quality was very good. We will definitely be visiting again.

Had the beef, was just ok nothing special. Veg was sloppy. For the cost more roast pots would be nice and the staff could be happier!

Myself, Wife and Grandson had a lunchtime meal. Hardly anybody eating so that should have warned us of. My wife ordered the Cod and Myself and Grandson had the 8oz Rump with a side salad. The cod looked like a Birdseye fish fillet not what was expected and not for the price. The Steaks were ordered as, one, well done and the other medium rare, they both turned out over cooked. The chef obviously didn't know the difference between the cooking methods. Overall the food was just warm enough and very poor. The only thing that was any good was the side salad which I enjoyed. Will not be going back.

Disgusted with the manners on the lady working at the bar, she was really rude towards me and my family in many ways. The food arrived and the inside was all cold and hard as if it had been previously microwaved, the taste was also bland, there seemed to have been no flavour. Me and my family of 5 all agreed on NEVER COMING BACK HERE

Nice looking pub been here a couple of times but this time was the worst. Ordered soup to start got to say soup was nice but they brought the bread and butter out after soup was finished ???same time would have been nice. Main meal for me was the ultimate mixed grill looked nice that was about it . The chicken and sausages were warm the rest of it was cold plate was stone cold which didn't help.We were going to order desserts but didn't because staff running the food were so slow thought the ice cream would have melted.

Went for Sunday lunch recently, pleasant, clean establishment. The food was very good, deserts were lush. Happy smiling waitresses who did all they can to ensure you enjoyed your meal. However the experience was seriously affected by the inept, inefficient and miserable barmaid. She was so slow, I could hear people round me muttering that this would be the last time they would come to the place. Waited 25 minutes just to be told the table number, then a further wait to be served drinks. Appalling, surly service from this one person makes me doubt I will return.

I've visited here many times over the years as it is so close to home. My most recent visit was last Sunday with my partner and 2 young children.I had booked the table a few days before telling them it would be two adults and two children, when we arrived there was a few people there but it wasn't packed so I was surprised when they showed us our table which was sandwiched between two tables of people considerably a lot older then us, there was plenty of tables available in the middle of the room! While we was there one of the couples sitting by us keeping looking over at our table and rolling their eyes I can only assume they must of thought our children were being noisy which I did not think they was, so I felt very uncomfortable a bit of thought of where to sit people would of been helpful!The staff didn't offer to get a high chair we had to ask. When it came to ordering our food we were told they were only serving roast dinner which was not told to us on the phone when we booked the table! Our food didn't take too long to arrive but we did have to ask for sauces etc which were brought out in the smallest tubs I've ever seen! The actual food was ok but nothing special obviously it is value for money there but I think I would rather pay more money and have an enjoyable experience than go there again.

A few of us had our met up here for our works Christmas meal. We had a three course meal. Mine consisted of tomato soup as a starter, very tasty, also as I am a vegetarian I had nut cutlet for main with plenty of tasty veg and lovely gravy. Everyone was saying how delicious theirs were and the beef was melting in their mouths. I had Christmas pudding and white sauce for dessert which was faultless. It was excellent value for money. Great atmosphere! Nice and clean and the food was delivered ever so quick with ] pleasant waitresses. All in all it was a great night. Everything as it should be.

called in fir lunch. Very quiet ..only 6 other diners ... plentiful menu.. I had chicken /scampi combo my friend steak. Very enjoyable meal, good portions, hot and well cooked. The chicken was lovely..really garlicky !! no complaints from us......

Lovely clean place I will say..wasnt overcrowded either . Right sunday lunch a choice of pork,beef or chicken.my husband I chose beef ..2 small thin slices of beef with 1 Yorkshire pudding (a frozen one) 1 small rock solid roast potato which must of been cooked the day before ! We had 6 small boiled potatoes between 2 of us ( my husband would eat 6 to himself normally) ..carrots ,cabbage 1and half spoonfuls each peas which tasted like cheap frozen peas.the beef I could not cut and could not chew it was full of fat and extremely tough and to top this wonderful dinner off oxo gravy which was tasteless and watery...we had chocolate fudge cake for dessert and that was stale...dont go honestly a waste of money and a big disappointment !!!

Lovely meal,booked at very short notice however the lady was very accomodating and found us a table. The food was great, big portions and the pepper sauce was one of the best I have ever tasted. Excellent value for money and will definitely eat there again.

It was very busy when myself and my boyfriend came here for food. The food wasn't as nice as I have had previously. There were many parties in the night we came here, left disappointed and haven't gone back since, I have had lovely food previously but this last time it wasn't as good as I have received.

Went here on the off chance with my boyfriend a few months back and been visiting regularly ever since. Lovely food and great value for money! Friendly staff! Not too much of a wait but with everything being homemade it was expected. I'll definitely keep returning!

My boyfriend took me here on his recommendation for our anniversary. we had a table booked but on arrival road showed us to it instead we had to go to the bar which was massively backed up and only 1 person serving so it took us about 20 mins to get served at which point we ended up ordering our food to save time. The barmaid pointed out our table to us so we ordered and sat down. We had a lasagne & a chicken & steak combo. Well the lasagne was bland and tasteless and the steak was tiny and practically all gristle. The only saving grace was too cheap it was but that reflected the food quality So we won't be returning! There was no atmosphere and it ruined what was supposed to be a romantic meal! Btw just to remind readers we went here because the last time he went he had a fantastic meal but its clearly gone downhill. we actually found at a couple friends had a 50th birthday meal booked here however thankfully we saved them from disappointment and they went to The Marquis instead! who by the way are FANTASTIC!!

my husband and i took my parents here some time ago now, for lunch. the food was awfull and the staff unfriendly. the place was filthy, fabric on the seats was stained and mum had to actually brush grit off hers before she could sit on it. i walked around looking for clean seats, but they were all filthy. my opinion, dont bother !!!!!

Probably the worse meal I have ever had the misfortune to be served, completely in edible. What a waste of a fantastic venue, and lovely staff! For your own sanity just don't eat there. What a crying shame!!!!

I've been there twice now in the last 3 weeks & I found the food & the service been lovely both times & I will be going back a 3rd time

Had a family meal for my dads birthday, service was slow don't think they know how to smile between them all!! Food was average mine come with extra hair (3 nice long ones) just thrown together some was warm some of it was cold over priced for what we had. Never ever again!!!!
