What a great find this pub was. Soon as we all went in the staff were very friendly and very welcoming. Service was great. Food was absolutely fantastic. The best chicken burger I have ever had. The kids meal was huge and my daughter loved it. I live an hour away but will definitely be coming back as I love everything about this pub. 100 stars ⭐

Popped in for lunch for 2 of us, nice menu choices, had the chicken Kiev and vegetarian bowl, which was delicious. Well laid out rooms with plenty of space and parking, with outdoor seating

What a fantastic find! As a party of 18 with children and baby included, it can be difficult to find somewhere that can accommodate us all with ease. For The Yew Tree Inn it was no trouble from our initial enquiry until the day. Service was great with humour included, nothing was too much trouble. The food was really good, piping hot and every thing served to us all together within a few minutes. 17 meals all at the same time is not easy, so well done kitchen staff. Having a dining area to ourselves made all the difference too. Thank you Yes Tree staff from r a great evening.

Visited with party of 4, midweek and I can highly recommend this place. What a fabulous traditional local pub. Great food, lovely wine and wine glasses, lovely friendly service which made the visit very relaxing. Will definitely be visiting again.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING PUB ! I live local to the yew tree and I go at least twice a month due to the amazing atmosphere and crunchy chips , cider is to die for and I just love the pub plus the staff are amazing . WISH ALL PUBS WERE LIKE THE YEW TREE !

Nice friendly pub with good food and selection of beers. Kids menu had a good selection for our two who cleaned their plates. Was an ideal place to end the day with two tired kids after visiting bewilderwood, would definitely visit again

Lovely pub but disappointing food. The minute steak had a very large fat rind and the described salad of watercress and tomato was more of a mere garnish of rocket with a couple of tasteless tomatoes. Shame as the service and atmosphere was excellent.

School dinner style Sunday roast. Foul. Staff were really nice. Ladies toilet really needs a clean, dust all around the loo. Overall I’d say ‘fur coat, no knickers’

Nice welcome when we arrived. Sat by a lovely crackling fire. The food however is why only a 2 star, lucky it got that. I had the cauliflower risotto which was so bland and a small portion. My daughter had the creamy mushrooms which she enjoyed. She also ordered steak and chips. They asked if she wanted it pink or well done and she said pink. Well that's the thinnest piece of leather I've seen on a plate. It was well done, tough and chewy. It was very difficult for her to cut it. So she asked if they could change it . The member of staff then explained to her how the chef would have to cook it. "Well they would have to flash fry it" . He made her feel very awkward like she was making a fuss so she just accepted what she had . Not one person asked if everything was ok , whilst we were eating or paying. For the price we would expect better.

Lovely place. Our family called in for food and a drink. Sunday dinner was very well cooked but the only downside was that it was warm but not hot. Apart from that it was a nice afternoon for us all.

After reading the reviews was looking forward to trying this place, but it fell well short of expectations. The pub is set in a pretty village and has an ok appearance inside, but the cobwebs in the corner indicate that it isn't cleaned too well each day. The staff were OK but were far from warm and welcoming, and had that annoying habit of walking with their heads down, so was difficult to get their attention. The food was a big letdown, I ordered shepherd's pie, which was a bland tasteless mush, and the pickled red cabbage tasted like it had been picked in sugar rather than vinegar. Will not be rushing back, especially when there are so many great alternatives in thr area.

Food was great, we each chose something different off the menu and it was really nice! The kids were kept busy with the colouring in. Sports were played on the tv around the bar area too. Dog friendly and plenty of parking would visit again

Food was delicious and the staff was super accommodating. My husband has severe allergies and they were lovely, heard us out (it’s always scary eating in new places) and double checked with the kitchen to make sure it was ok. We felt very welcomed and couldn’t be happier we stopped there.

Great place to stop off, we stayed on the car park in our motor home. Good food, good beer great friendly staff . 10/10 will be back.

Just wanted to thank the team for accommodating 14 very wet cyclists. We asked if they would put on a brunch for us after a ride we did. They don't normal do a brunch but accommodated our request no problem. The food was perfect and even though we left a lot of wet patches, it was no problem to them. Spot on..

Really tasty food, well looked after beer and good service in a cute little pub with nice beer garden if the sun's out. We had a lovely Sunday roast. I had the beef and treacle ham duo, whilst my gf had the chicken. Would highly recommend.

Great traditional gastropub, excellent service and food

This is the second time we’ve eaten here and the food and coffee is amazing. Each time though the service has been very slow and inattentive. Real shame as it’s a lovely venue inside and outside. The staff need done training on customer service and would be 4star.

Love the Yew Tree. Been going for years. Everything about it is excellent. Setting, atmosphere, bees, food, service…all outstanding. Highly recommend.

What a fantastic country pub. My first visit but not the last. I had fish and chips and honestly, they were so good! Fish was fresh and chips were proper chips!! The place itself had a lovely laidback atmosphere, great outdoor space too Highly recommend 👌

This is one of those great pubs where the team are welcoming and friendly, and the service and food is fantastic. We stopped here off the cuff to see if we could get some Sunday lunch without booking, and couldn't have found a better place. 10/10! Bravo! If you're looking for a cosy and welcoming restaurant with delicious food, then you should definitely check out the one we visited recently. As soon as we saw the outside of the yew tree inn, we knew we had to go inside. The atmosphere was very warm and inviting, and we were excited to see what was on the menu. Inside the restaurant, we were not disappointed. The cosy atmosphere continued, and we felt right at home. We were impressed by the chef in the kitchen, who clearly knew what they were doing. Every meal we had was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I have to personally recommend the scotched egg and the bowl. The scotched egg was cooked to perfection, with a delicious runny yolk that perfectly complemented the crispy exterior. The bowl was also amazing - filled with fresh ingredients and bursting with flavor. And of course, the fries were perfect as well - crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. If you're looking for a cosy atmosphere and delicious food, then you should definitely check it out.

We saw the sign for the pub on the A49 and decided to take a chance on the Yew Tree for a late lunch. On entering the we received a very warm welcome; we were given a choice of two good table. The pub was already busy and had nice atmosphere; our drinks order taken, they didn't have my wife's preferred wine but the Picpoul offered was excellent. Drinks arrive very quick and the waitress took our order very efficiently. We had to wait a while for our food but the staff still too care of us a brought me a second gluten free beer. The beer was served at just the right temperature in the right glass, waiting was not a problem. When the food arrived it was clear why we were waiting, the food just made from scratch; my steak sandwich on toasted gluten free bread was full of steak, perfectly cooked, the chips were super hot, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Similarly my wife's meal was as good as mine, she had a gougon sandwich. They offered us additional sauces, my wife as for more tartare sauce, the waitress came back and explained they had just used the last of the sauce but were making more but it would be 15 minutes until it was ready. My wife wasn't unhappy with this, she was very happy because the sauce was delicious, getting a hand made sauce rather than a generic sauce out of a jar showed the care they take of the food. We asked for lots of additional items but the staff were very, very helpful and smiley. It was the best pub food we have had for quite some time, we'd totally recommend the Yew Tree. Superb.

Excellent little pub - very scenic location with a lovely outdoor seating area, decent amount of space inside and good bar area. The staff were all friendly and attentive our entire time there. Best of all they have an extensive menu with plenty of allergen info on it, and fantastic food that is well priced and arrived quickly.

Brilliant pub - first time visiting today after Tough Mudder and the burger & chips was just what was needed - they also do gluten free options which was very much appreciated. Staff were efficient and friendly. The building itself is also lovely and the location is beautiful - would definitely recommend.

A fantastic selection of drinks available. Dog friendly inside and out. Friendly staff with great service and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Unfortunately found this place too late in our stay to eat here, but if we're this way again, we will definitely be popping in again!

Just called for Sunday lunch. I had the roast beef dinner & my husband had the roast chicken dinner. Both were excellent as always with plenty of meat & vegetables and cooked to perfection. A very friendly pub & well worth a visit.

Visited on Father's day, staff friendly enough and the place is lovely. However the Sunday lunch wasn't up to much the beef you could literally see through and there wasn't much veg either. The wife got 1 slice of wafer thin beef, I'm not sure if they were running short, but didn't feel as if we got value for the £18 on the meal, overall disappointed.

Friendly country pub good home cooked food.

Myself and my partner called in for some lunch as we are staying at peckforton Castle, the bar man was in no rush to serve us even though he wasn't busy, he wasn't welcoming at all when we asked for the menu. Once we looked at the menu we went to thd bar to order he wasn't busy but just talking with a group of lads at the bar and left us waiting to be served, I ordered the hummus with flatbread it was tastless the hummus was like mushy peas with no flavour. It had more rocket on the top than flavour, u noticed there's a few comments on here about the hummus,.aye it needs removing from the menu,

Beetroot risotto was excellent. Brie & hummus flatbread didn't work, too much hummus & the roasted veg was minimal/didn't taste fresh.
