Wonderful staff, food and drinks

It was a place I discovered when I came to the event in the hall just opposite. The friendly staff made me feel comfortable, we tried the burger that day and I was very pleased. I visited at least 7-8 times afterwards and tried to try different things each time. The pizza, which was recently added to the menu, really connected me to the place. I am constantly looking for flavour and I highly recommend it. Please continue to work so devotedly. 🙏🏼

We chose lamb for Sunday lunch but it was full of chewy gristle and didnt taste like lamb. The mashed potato and spinach were ok but we would have preferred roast veg. Few desserts available, cherry pie was poor. Others at our table were happier with different dishes but wine mediocre. Service amateurish and disinterested.

Super affordable food with decent quality. Our orders always were ready fast. Every staff member we encountered was super friendly. We stayed at a hotel nearby for 6 nights and ate here at least one meal a day for our entire stay.

Nice little cafe in Islington, in between Angel and Highbury and Islington tube stations. They have a range of different dishes, including pizza, burgers, lasagne and sides like chips and curly fries. The prices are really good for the area, lasagne and salad was around £12. The desserts are also great, different cakes, tiramisu and brownies. They allow dogs in the restaurant and the staff brought us some water for the dog which was really nice. The staff were also generally helpful and friendly

A regular lunch spot for me. Service is quick and friendly. Food is delicious and displayed well. Great atmosphere. I have eaten there on my own and with company. The price seems fair.

I saw this cafe walking past and decided to enter. Workers didn't greet me at all. Ignored my presence. I didnt know where to sit or where they take orders. I ordered at the front, the women was not welcoming at all, no smile on her face. I asked what she recommended and she said I don't know they are all the same. I ended up ordering a mint honey lemon tea and a pistachio cannoli which was on display and sat at a table. When I paid at the front it smelt strongly of cigarettes. I noticed that another individual customer entered the cafe and was immediately attended to. The menu was given to him and he was shown to a table. His drinks were delivered straight to the table whereas the worker called for me to collect my order from the front. Again with no smile. Was it because I ordered something basic? Or not enough? It wasn't busy at the time so why was I treated coldly. I didnt enjoy my time and felt discriminated against I certainly wont come back here again.

The chef has an incredible pellet, the pizza is super thin and the crust has the ideal puffiness Easily the best pizza in Islington highly recommended

It’s no longer an actual workers cafe. The food is poor and the prices ridiculously expensive. Not even butter on the roll. Very poor. There’s places nearby that are far cheaper and much better quality and fresh.

We started the day well thanks to the delicious breakfast. Coffee and french toast were also very good.

I had a large group of 20 people here on Saturday night for food and drinks to celebrate my birthday, the staff were absolutely fantastic so welcoming to us all and the food was incredible. Would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a nice atmosphere very friendly and a very nice place to have good food and drinks and service with a smile.

Fresh, flavoursome food,that tastes as good as it looks. Coffee is great. Comfortable clean restaurant area. Kind, friendly, professional front of house and service team. Look for the pink exterior with the awning. I wish I had found this place earlier.

I recently visited Workers Cafe, and I must say I was disappointed with my experience. My original order was placed through Just Eat, but due to an error on their side, I had to collect my food directly from the cafe. As I collected the order in person, this should have been treated as a direct order, and I expected a price change. However, Workers Cafe still charged me the higher Just Eat prices, even though they were aware of the situation and I had collected as a direct customer. Upon reviewing their menu, I noticed that they charge less if you order directly from them as a customer, which I essentially became in the end by collecting my order. This further added to my frustration. This seemingly dishonest approach from the proprietor, despite the opportunity to rectify the situation, makes me less likely to return as a customer in the future. Honesty and transparency are important, and I hope the cafe can improve in this aspect. I should mention that despite my disappointment with the higher prices, I found the food at Workers Cafe to be hot and delicious. It's just unfortunate that the pricing issue overshadowed an otherwise pleasant experience.

Came here for a Saturday brunch, probably wouldn't return. Whilst it was very busy, the food was very substandard, my panini felt very cheap and bad quality, the cheese was hardly melted. I had to ask for it to be reheated but it came back not much warmer. The reason I have given 3 stars is due to how busy the place was when we were here.

Disappointing. No longer the Proletariat's Pleasure! It used to be a great greasy spoon: formica tables full of builders between jobs. I haven't visited since the pandemic. They have had a refurb and it feels like a different establishment, new management, new menu, but the website (I now see) says it's the same place. Slow and inefficient (albeit friendly) service. I ordered one of the standard breakfast options. Half an hour later the food arrived. Only then did the server ask "Would you like salt and pepper and sauce?" "Yes please, brown and red" - by the time this arrived, everything had gone cold. Likewise the half-toasted toast. Manager eventually apologised and said he wouldn't charge me for tea and toast. I pointed out that the menu says these are included in the price of the breakfast. Shambolic. Nice enough, if you want to sit on Upper Street and watch the world go by. But no longer the place for a quick fry-up between appointments. Workers of Islington unite! You have nothing to lose, now the chains have moved in.

Popped in for lunch. Burger ok but, if there was no service charge, then £3.50 for a can of coke is taking the piss. Edit - response to owner. If a coke is £1.95 and the quarter pounder I ordered is £10.95 which should come to £12.90, why was I charged £14.51 by the small woman with long dark hair on the till? You’re a rip off.

The Workers Café—A Shadow of Its Former Self Four months have passed since The Workers Café changed ownership, and the transformation is sadly far from positive. Food Quality: This café was once the epitome of a splendid Mediterranean breakfast—flavorful eggs, aromatic beans, and delicious beef sausages that made each morning a culinary delight. These days, however, the dishes are bland and uninspired, a far cry from the hearty, satisfying meals we used to enjoy. Amount of Food: The decline extends to portion sizes as well. What used to be generous servings of toast and beans has been replaced by a worrying overabundance of cheese, skimping not only on quantity but also on the balanced meal experience we had come to expect. Vibe: The café has lost more than just its culinary touch; it's also lost its soul. The unique artwork, mismatched furniture, and the comforting hum of content patrons have been supplanted by a sterile, generic atmosphere devoid of any warmth or character. Though the doors of The Workers Café remain open, its heart seems to have closed. It’s disheartening to witness the fading charm of what used to be a cherished community hub. One can only hope that the new owners find a way to rekindle the magic that made this café such an integral part of our lives.

Great cafe for sitting outside and people watching. Had a tasty brunch here the other day, the burrata salad and the menemen was especially strong. I heard their milkshakes are also good so will try next time 😁

Coffee and ambience were quite nice to be fair. But on top of the price of the coffee I received an additional (and unwarranted) service charge - unfortunately another company that is offloading onto customers the duty of paying their workers a fair wage.

I visited Workers café last Friday and had one of their green Macarons which was easily one of the best desserts I've had in London. Their desserts are homemade, the atmosphere is great and the staff and owner are super lovely... I will definitely be returning.

Popped in before attending the concert across the street tonight. Had a blueberry muffin and chai latte with oat milk with my husband. The chai was so well made I for once did not want to rush through my drink, simply wanted to stay there for as long as possible and savour it. Thank you to the young gentleman for the lovely drink, and the lady who served us and was so welcoming and attentive felt like I’m back at moms house having her dote on me. Thank you for creating this lovely atmosphere.

Decided to pop in for a quick take away sandwich and this is what I get, two loads of bread covered in mould, that combined with the horrendous service - would never recommend going there. Disgusting standards and attention to detail.
