What a venue !! Charming with a historical room to be seen to be believed (clipper room) ! I cannot say enough about the owners and staff who made me feel welcomed and could not do enough ! I was there for a music gig with friends and the music room venue was brilliant , atmospheric and intimate ! The hotel is in a lovely location with historical sites , coastal walks and a golf course nearby.

My husband and I had a great 2 night stay. The staff were fantastic , couldn't be more pleasant and helpful. We were in a superior room which was lovely, large room with large smart tv. ( only slight negative was the bathroom which is in need of upgrading but this wouldn't deter us from booking again). We ate on the hotel on both evenings and the food was excellent as were the staff. Looking forward to visiting again.

4 of us had dinner here. The setting of the dining room, with the top half being salvaged off a ship, is fantastic. Waiting staff were friendly and efficient. Our food arrived in good time, freshly cooked and of good standard, no complaints. The only slightly adverse thing that was partially beyond the hotels control, was that they had at least 1, possibly 2 large functions in seperate rooms. However, at one stage, the functions adjourned to the bar area, but some had to spill over into the dining room. For a few minutes, we felt rather comfortable, trying to eat our meals with several people stood right next to our table. Peace soon resumed once their functions resumed. It would be good if the hotel could screen off the dining room in these circumstances, but I am not sure if this would be possible.

Brilliant hotel. Had a great time. Superb place as a base for doing a lot of walking along the coast and trips on the train to Edinburgh. Lovely folk running it and great bar staff. The food downstairs was excellent. Very tasty burger. Had a great time. The room was easily as good as the pricey Edinburgh ones I've stayed in and I need to know where they get towels that thick. Fabulous!

We went to this restaurant after looking at the menu on the website and seeing several options we liked and reading reviews. When we got there the menue was only a third of what we'd seen online and they didn't have anything we wanted. After much deliberation we stayed and 2 of us had very bland veggie burgers and the other 2 meat eaters in our family were happier with gammon and steak and ale pie. The staff were friendly and apologetic but when your a tourist you rely on website information to make choices and this place just didn't match up to our expectations at all.

When you enter this exquisite room you are blown away, the gorgeous glass ceiling was salvaged from a ship which housed its' first class restaurant. The service from the boys was outstanding and they can't be of enough help to you. Very polite, professional and courteous. The food was a pure delight - standouts were the steak pie, mac cheese and sticky toffee pudding. The kitchen staff are obviously very very good at their craft, totally delicious hot food. I would certainly eat here again and brag that I did. Can't be faulted in my opinion.

We booked this via ITISON for two nights B&B; with dinner on first night. Absolutely fabulous. We usually go up north or west coast but the location here is brilliant. From the beach you can see right across to Edinburgh Castle and from certain areas can see all three bridges. We sat on the beach listening to the waves, idyllic. Now for the hotel. Rooms were well appointed with toiletries, tea/coffee, even a caramel wafer each day. Huge big fluffy white towels, really comfy bed. The food was delicious, I had a rib eye steak which was cooked exactly to my liking. When we have these deals we usually go somewhere else on the second night just to vary it but my husband and I both agreed the food was so good we were going nowhere. The breakfast menu makes you drool at the mouth, smoked salmon, eggs benedict/florentine, omelettes, french toast, crushed avocado with chilli flakes plus the usual full Scottish. The staff are a delight and a credit to the owners, nothing was too much trouble for them. The stained glass ceiling in the restaurant is absolutely breath taking. We would thoroughly recommend the Woodside! Hope you enjoyed your bridie John.

The service was good and everyone enjoyed their food however I have been advised to try a dairy free diet and I was disappointed with the lack of choice. When I asked about the desserts I was simply told that I couldn't have any of them. I would've appreciated it if an alternative could have been offered as there was only one other table in. Booked dinner with family as part of birthday and wedding anniversary celebrations. Having had a really nice dinner experience here before since new owners took over we looked forward to something similar but we felt sadly et down. Apparently because of internal issues, according to the waiter, the menu had been reduced from that presented on the website. The new menu did not in our opinion offer a lot of inspiring choice of starters, mains or sweets and as we were hungry we decided to stay and make the best of it by just having a main and possibly a dessert. To be fair the battered haddock and the rib eye steak ( a wee bit too peppery ) meals were okay but both Chicken balmorals it was felt were both under par as the chicken was quite dry and the chips getting quite soggy having been served under the chicken with the sauce poured over it. The Rosemary ham salad meal was particularly poor value having only one slice of ham, a small salad and some chips, didn't think it was worth £10.50. Service was slow and the bill at the end of the meal was wrong and had to be corrected. As per the review title I do hope this was a bad night as we very disappointed.

This is our fourth visit to the Woodside in just over a year on previous visits its been making arrangements for our wedding, having our wedding and another time visiting family, We're starting to feel part of the Woodside's extended family and that's what staying at Woodside feels like, it serves excellent homely cuisine your looked after by friendly helpful staff and your room has a homely feel..On this visit to celebrate our wedding anniversary we were planning on Just a quiet relaxing extended weekend stay apart from a few of our family popping in for a drink on the Friday night. Then on Friday night we're faced with 14 family arriving all of whom have decided they fancy eating at the Woodside that night. Dilemma dilemma the Woodside was having a busy night with the local folk club having their monthly shin dig but after a brief chat with the duty Manager Kyle asking if it would be possible for us all to eat, His answer was No problem just give me 20mins to set and pull some tables together, so 30mins later we're all seated in the restaurant ordering our food, how's that for 5star service..Maybe time for the Scottish tourist board to add those extra stars to their front of house sign. This is most definitely a 5star material hotel..

Brought my mother here for her birthday dinner. As it is one of her favourite venues to dine at. No one to greet us at the reception, however we knew where we needed to go for dinner, so not a big problem.Menu is varied, and that's always a good thing. Menu ranges from local beer battered fish, to chicken curry& basmati rice, so something for everyone really.Skipped the starters and when straight for the mains. Chicken curry served with basmati rice and naan bread. Chicken tikka, yes, defiantly has chicken and was in small chunks. 10/10.Basmati rice ? No, sorry, this as not. I had been given long grain rice 0/10 poor effort chef. I decide on not sending it back, to save blushes on the Chefs account.Naan bread, well, yes it was. But it was one of the naan breads you pick up from the supermarket freezer and put onto your plate as an after thought. Poor effort in my opinionCurry sauce. Yes great flavours of spices, but I dare say chef had over made stroganoff sauce with the previous table and thought that I might like a lot of cream in my curry sauce. The fresh diced peppers and the herbs ( sorry, I am critical about curries and this was a problem for me, a major problem ) Besides the table chef had cooked before us, were next to us, so I could see what the stroganoff sauce looked like and had in it. Steak Guinness pie. Fantastic, slowly cooked, melt in your mouth and topped with flaky pastry, vegetables and chips. Cant really go wrong with that. . . Can you ? For a establishment that holds three stars from the AA. And is regarded as a three stars from the Scottish tourist board. I was expecting better all round. If I were the in the tourist industry, I would have been embarrassed to have given this Hotel three stars. Doubtful to return in the near future

The bar mate was very nice and social asking me about my beverage of choice and giving me a menu. I had the haggis fritters which came out fresh and hot and downed a nice pint to bring it all in. After that I had the fish and chips and again, nice, hot and fresh. We had a meal at the Woodside Hotel last weekend and really enjoyed it. We weren't looking to have high tea, but it seemed value for money compared to just having a main course at the hotel or anywhere else in Aberdour. There was plenty of choice on the menu; about ten different mains including the specials of the day. We went for the chef's chicken curry and the rainbow trout. Both were very enjoyable and just the right size for us, so we could just about manage the scones and cakes that came after. Additional drinks we ordered were very reasonably priced as well. Staff were very pleasant, no nonsense, attentive but not annoying. I think we’ll be back one day!

The decor of this establishment is wonderful - the salvaged interior of the Ocean liner Orantes. Over the years my family have enjoyed many meals there. Today my mother and I visited, and while the rooms remain superb, the food has taken a nosedive. I have had haddock and chips there before, and recall long, big whole fillets of haddock with home made chips. Today I was served a large and a small catering pack, portion control fillet, with almost inedible frozen chips and a disappointing salad (and peas). The menu was very limited, with only one item my mother felt she could stomach and that turned out to be low quality heavily battered scampi.

Went for steak night but extremely disappointed. Asked for medium steak but was more rare.Few soggy chips, hard peas and two underdone soggy onion rings. No salad as advertsed. Food was also cold. Asked for a prosecco and was told had no cold ones . Was given small one off top shelf behind bar but when I opened it it was completely flat and very yellow so I think it must have been on the shelf a long while! Lady opened big bottle which again came from top shelf so was not cold but was bubbly. Can't believe there was no bottles in wine fridge. Sticky toffee pudding was good though. Seeing as there was just one other couple in the restaurant there really was no excuse for steak meal being so poor as kitchen not rushed. Won't be rushing back!!!

Great location on the Old Course. Beautiful modern terrace on the top floor with stunning views across the fairways to the sea. So wanted to like this place but were disappointed. Food was standard golfing fare - steaks and lobster - OK but nothing special . Wine list reasonable for price and choice. What lets the place down is the lack of management oversight. Tables with broken legs, jet lagged golfers asleep in the lobby, incredibly noisy ambience all overseen by a well meaning but overwhelmed serving staff. Not what you expect when paying $400 for a meal for two. Dinner took three and a half hours. We had to track down staff to order wine, coffee and get the check. Could be a good dining alternative to the Old Course Hotel but its let down badly by the service. Seems its owned by one of those absentee investment companies and it shows .

Arranged to meet friends here for a lunch and a catch up. This is a very popular visit with very pleasant surroundings through a very large conservatory contributing to a very well lit area. There are a number of tables within the conservatory and your extensive menu is on the table. There are hot and cold food choices ordered at the server and brought to your table. We opted for chicken and rice soup and tomato and vegetable soup. To accompany the soup we ordered cheese and onion toasties and cheese and ham. We had carrot cake put aside for later that was the last of it. The chicken soup had a distinct homemade stock flavour with generous amounts of chicken through the rice and veg. The toasties came with crisps and side salad and coleslaw on the side. They were very well cooked with a generous filling. Finally the piece de resistance the home baking carrot cake came bursting with flavour very moist and topped with a very sweet icing. Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone and will definitely be back.
