Best Chinese takeaway hands down. It has a massive selection for vegan and vegetarian as well as every dish you can think of. Generous portions and always fresh. My wife has had a variety from the vegan menu and thinks it is fantastic food. Always excellent service even when it is delivered.

Ordered food for collection at 18:40 (its 19:50 now) and when ordering is says on average 20 minutes but can take longer on weekends but updates will be sent. Checking both the email, texts and the app that it is ordered through the only thing showing was "order confirmed" but nothing after that as to whether it was ready or what. Called up the restaurant after it being over an hour and no update and got spoken too like crap. The person who answered the phone immediately took an attitude and said "yeah its ordered for collection", advised her that we knew it was for collection but that we didn't know if it was ready as we had no updates, she stated we should've had an email to the spam folder but nothing was there and the app that was tracking had nothing either. She then started to groan to a colleague that we were asking for an update and didn't just come for the food. She proceeded to be rude when we stated we had no update and was wondering what was happening and said "whatever" to us. Customer service is appalling and they said we could come get it now as if nothing would be fresh anymore. Don't bother calling as even when you get through the service is horrible.

This was a first visit and a 25 mile round trip in the hope wr could find a nice Chinese takeaway as the ones near us aren't good. It was the worst takeaway we've ever had without exaggeration. Tasteless, full of oil and the chips were rock hard as if they had been reheated several times. If they can't even prepare some fresh chips then that just about sums then up. Avoid like the plague is our advice.

Orderd delivery last night which was pretty quick ,but the food itself was awful . We had 2 special fried rice and 1 special foo yung. The rice was dry as sticks and totally tasteless , it contained chewy tough dark beef , dry char su pork and a weird textured chicken and loads if peas no prawns ??? The foo yung was really salty and greasy totally inedible really really disappointing over all . And expensive over 25£ for 3 dishes that ended up in the bin .

Nothing open anywhere on a Monday night in this part of the world..... so, ended up at New Wok Inn in Brandon - couldn’t be bothered to drive to Durham!! Have looked at other reviews and have to say our experience could not have been more different! Service outstanding from the single waiter; OK so he wasn’t rushed off his feet with only one other couple in the restaurant but he was very attentive. Food was some of best Chinese ever eaten. Fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. We had fish platter for two to start which was spicy and interesting - really good start. Then it was wonderful crispy duck in plum sauce and sizzling chicken in black bean sauce. Both delicious and large portions; we couldn’t finish!! All in all a great Chinese - restaurant clean and beautifully laid out with ethnic tables and chairs- would be a great place for big family meal or group fun night out.... We live too far way to return but would be very happy to do so!

Disappointing from the word go. Food served by a scruffy looking English bloke in a flat cap and denims. Not very authentic. Very slow for food to come out sporadically (it wasn't very busy), and the food itself was exceptionally bland with really cheap ingredients but not cheaply priced, in fact as soon as we saw the menu we were dreading the final bill but were trapped in a family birthday type scenario we couldnt walk out of. We asked for prawn sesame toasts and after having a few mouthfuls of CHICKEN was told they "put a little chicken in to bind it like usual. Err, no I have never ever been served chicken sold as prawns. Just dreadful.

Awful food! Ordered on line, mistakenly booked collection instead of delivery, rang to check and they said the food had just come out of the kitchen and they would deliver after all. Brilliant. Our food arrived 40 mins later which means it had stood for that long obviously, the mixed starters were terrible, stone cold and tasteless, my Prawn fried rice was diabolical, rubbery prawns and as dry as sticks, the peas were totally dried up,no flavour at all, it went straight in the bin, my husbands beef and black bean sauce was flavourless too, my daughter had mixed veg with rice and she said it was average at best. We had food from here a couple of years ago which wasn’t great, thought we would give it another try, never again.

We visited for a dinner for two in the early evening during the week. We had reserved a table and received a friendly welcome. We chose a banquet meal as we had not visited previously and were unsure of the individual meals offered so went for the safer option. The restaurant is comfortable with the tables not too close together, there is background music but it is not too obtrusive. The food was good, tasty and enjoyable. The delay between courses was acceptable albeit we were in the restaurant for nearly two hours for three courses with a bottle of wine. We will return and maybe try one of the chefs speciality meals after a soup starter. Overall it was an enjoyable meal in good surroundings

The all you can eat buffet Sunday lunch represents excellent value. It includes starters, mains and puddings and there is a choice to suit most tastes. The buffet was constantly replenished and the food hot enough if you choose from the newly filled dishes. I wouldn't describe the food itself as outstanding or out of the ordinary but it's tasty and satisfying. One thing that did impress me was the friendliness of the staff and the way they made young children welcome.

Very impressed the takeaways are good but the food in the restaurant is even better . The outside sign caught my eye; “all you can eat for £7.50.” But it turns out it’s only on a Sunday. Also the place opens for 7 days - only from 5:30pm to 11pm. But – it does open for lunch - Thurs to Sat from 12pm to 2pm. And there is a limited takeaway option during the Thurs to Sat lunch opening times for £7.50 that includes a starter, main and side dish. Very complex scheduling or what? So we got two lunchtime takeaways – and they were very good as Chinese dishes go. So I can only recommend this revamped Wok-inn based on the food we enjoyed. The food was delicious. I didn't go in.

My sister, her partner, their son and myself visited tonight and had a starter and a main. The manager Andy was extremely helpful with the menu and very attentive, nothing was to much trouble. Our starters came quickly and were so delicious my brother in law had asked for the crab claw and as there was only one Andy had asked him to choose another option. When the starters came out the chef had prepared the mussels and also the crab claw dish to try. This was such a lovely touch. We all had mains and again they were fantastic. The meat was so succulent and full of flavour. I would go through what we all had but I have no doubt what ever is ordered here will be second to none. The waitress was shy but polite and as she gained confidence she seemed to build a good report with us all. In conclusion we have had a fantastic experience here at the new wok inn and will most definitely be returning :)

I must be honest, as a stranger visiting close to Durham I had no idea if placing an order here was sensible when trying to feed six family members on a bit of a reunion. But, took the positive views of others on Trip Adviser and plunged in. All too often, Chinese takeaways can be too greasy and obviously reheats. So, we were all thoroughly persuaded that this is a gem, hidden off the A690 in Brandon Village and within reachable distance of Durham, or Willington where we were renting. Placing an order was easy through a very friendly woman (we used their online menu to prepare the pick-list); front-of-house woman was also very friendly. Recently revamped, a quick peek at the restaurant was also promising if that is your preference. All the dishes we tried were fantastically well prepared, spiced, cooked, etc. To give you an idea - Crispy Aromatic duck with pancakes, etc; spring rolls (we chose meat-filled but vegetarian is on the menu); Singapore Fried rice; mixed vegetable chow mein; sweet and sour pork (often a total failure but well balanced, definitely not cloying); deep fried beef shanghai style; the usual prawn crackers of course. The dishes we ordered only scratch the surface of the menu and if we were here longer, no doubt we would revisit.Just one of those gems, worth the short trip out of Durham (which is very well served by restaurants of course) or other nearby villages/towns. Really.

We visited for the first time on a Saturday night as we had heard good thing's. It was very quiet for a Saturday night with only a few tables taken. On arriving I commented the outside could do with a clean down and a good sweep of the car park as it looks a little run down. Once inside the manager greeted us and was chatty throughout the evening. We all picked the 4 course meal with the added duck. They were happy to change some of the items on the set menu so this was a plus. Meals came out slow and steady which we didn't might as we were happy to sit and talk but when we checked the time it was a good 3 hours and after 10pm when we left. From taking to the manager I got the impression he was set up to match the Pavilion up in Lanchester. If you have been to the Pavilion you will know how fabulous it is altho a little pricey but they do a great job. The wok in fails on so many counts... Plates come out warm but then the food takes so long to follow the plates are cold... The food Warmers are a miss as by the time yur going round for seconds the food is cold.... No spoons in the sauces had to ask for some... Requested chop sticks but non came.... One spoon for 5 coffees... No hot towels... The manager needs to let the staff serve as he seems to be in the way a lot.As for the food... This was fine but nothing better that an average take away, seemed to lack taste. Will we return.... I'd rather spend that little but extra and go to the Pavilion.

I am always nervous when the place is empty but I had read some good reviews so I chanced my luck - and boy was I glad I did.The food was superb, well cooked and tasty. Service was excellent. I enjoyed a banquet for one which was a tasty price!Overall a hidden gem and well worth a visit - give the owner some custom - I'm sure he will appreciate it - you will too

Ordered a selection of meals from the Take Away Menu. Whilst waiting, the staff showed us around the dining area, very nice, due to be refurbished this month, so I expect there will be some improvement. Our meals were served quiet quickly, got home, the meals were hot, and very satisfying,Would recommend this establishment to friends and familyNB, I had previously visited the establishment under the old management, the difference is as clear as day and night

We always order takeaway from here, numerous starters and sides between me and my husband. Always enjoy everything we order, only niggle is BBQ ribs this evening were dry? Normally are served in a tasty BBQ sauce.

We had an evening meal at the restaurant shortly after it had been taken over, although we hadn't realised that at the time, so we were a bit confused when the menu was totally different to the one we looked at online. The staff were very nice, but considering there were only two other tables in the whole restaurant, the service was painfully slow. We were there for almost two hours just for a soup starter and mains for 2 people. There were a few other minor things e.g. the bill being wrong, drinks not arriving etc. The soup was nice but the main courses were not particularly tasty so unfortunately it's unlikely that we would eat here again.

I recently dined here after winning a competition on facebook to attend the official launch night of the restaurant since it has been taken over.Food was gorgeous, everything was hot and tasty. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The décor hasn't changed as much as I remembered but has definitely been refreshed. As it was the launch night the tables were very nicely arranged with floral centerpieces and beautiful table cloths - not sure if this is something they will continue using or if just for special events? Lovely to see the management and owners trying to re-launch this restaurant back to being great again. Having been a former customer I used to dine here regularly but unfortunately it went really down-hill. I will definitely be back and will be telling all my family and friends about it.Wishing the new owners and management every success with it. Would be fab to have a great Chinese restaurant on the door step again :-)

Couldn't get a table at the Pavilion Consett but really fancied Cantonese so thought we'd give this place a try and we're so pleased we did. The food was amazing and to be honest just as good as the Pavilion, reasonably priced and worth every penny, we will return many times I'm sure and we plan to te!l all our friends and family about it, we met the owner who is also one of the chefs and he and the rest of the staff were lovely.

In July we had a fantastic takeaway meal so when our brother and sister in law came from Melton Mowbray we thought we would go to the restaurant for a evening meal. after the starters my husband was sick. The Duck was very dry the sauce was a thick paste.the main meal arrived with no plates or bowls.the waiter had to go back to get the bowls which one of the bowls was chipped and the we asked the waiter to replace it. the chicken was pre cooked re heated and had a odd taste. We do like chillie in our food it was however over powering again my husband had to go out to be sick.we all fell rather queasy after a single mouthful of each dish. as it was unpalatable we got up paid the bill and left.

Visited the wok Inn Saturday the 15th of October, unaware that it has changed owners, and is now called The New Wok Inn. Nice new touches in the decor, bamboo blinds, new place settings, menus, and the fish are back in the pond. Only dissapointment was we were the only two people in the restaurant, which i am sure will soon change. Love Chinese food, unfortunatley Durham only has two good Chinese restaurants in my opinion, The New Wok Inn being one of them. Haven't eaten here for a few months, as for us it's a taxi ride each way to get there. Anyway after previously eating there and always having lovely food, we were not dissapointed. We had ribs and duck spring rolls to start, both very good, followed by deep fried chilli beef in peking sauce, and king prawns in a honey and chilli sauce with egg fried rice, and soft noodles, all very good. Lovely bottle of Pinot Grigio too. will be back soon.

Thanks to the person you said they had changed ownership. We have gone there for years and had frequent take aways from them. Rang up to order about a month ago and got some garbled message about it being shut until end July for training. As their English is never that good, thought we had misunderstood. Now know why! Dont know how good they are but probably wont be going back. Pity they were good and food delicious. Clicked on 2 rating just so we could pass cooment.

The only decent thing was prawn crackers ( bought in aswell as I had the same supplier in an english pub) and they didnt even understand what part of duck was being cooked. Avoid at all costs and buy uncle bens homemade...it woukd probably taste better. Abysmal phone service, and collection. If I coukd give less than one star I would...such a shame because this was one if the best cuisines in the area until this new takeover!

Went here tonight with my husband and daughter for the first time and it will certainly be our last. Awful from start to finish. Staff are all void of a personality and the guy that served us was wearing an oriental style jacket that was raggy and dirty. Our table and the menus were sticky. Food very poor. My white wine spritzer was nearly all soda. Really could hardly taste any wine and wasnt even served in a wine glass. Oh and they didnt have a couple of things that were on the menu. An absolute waste of the £60 thst it cost us. Should have just gone to McDonalds

One of the best Chinese food experiences I have ever had. Particularly recommend the crispy duck, not the cheapest but the all you can eat means that you make sure you get your moneys worth. Most of the food is very nice and the service is pretty good. However it can be a little chilly in the winter. Somewhere we go as a treat.

I am sad to leave this review as I have always found the staff at this takeaway very lovely welcoming people but I’m afraid I am very upset over an issue I have had tonight. I asked if I could have plain rice noodles with mushroom and nothing else. This was repeated back to me so I believed I had been understood. When my meal was made the server (manager?) informed me that they added egg for flavour even though I had not asked for this. I do not eat egg as it makes me sick. I explained politely that I do not eat egg and he apologised and said he would remake it. I must admit I should have known by how fast my meal was remade that something wasn’t right but I presumed I had been understood and due to their own mistake, my meal would be remade fresh. When I got home I began to eat my meal and all seemed fine at first until I noticed an odd taste and to my horror found small bits of egg still in my food. I am unsure wether they simply picked the egg off the original meal and repackaged it or cooked it in the same pan without cleaning out the egg first but unfortunately it has lead to me being sick and I will likely be unwell for the next couple of days. Again I am very sad to leave this review as the owners and staff are very lovely people and I often have a bag of chips from here but knowing that adding ingredients that weren’t specified then doing a poor job of making sure the replacement also didn’t include this ingredient is very dangerous. Thankfully my own health issues with eggs aren’t life threatening, just very unpleasant but it could be fatal if this happens to someone with a serious allergy so I had to bring it to your attention
