Bad delivery time , bad customer service

We ordered from Durham Chinese, the food was great, as well as the portion sizes. The place looked fairly clean and there was a few parking spaces outside to go in and order / pick up. Only major downside was the fact that it was cash only - so we had to go and hunt down a working cash machine! Would recommend the salt and pepper boxes.

Always order from here, never had a bad meal very quick service. Lovely customer service always happy to help. Lovely food any special requests are always taken care of wouldn’t go anywhere else

Very disappointing. We've used this takeaway quite a few times now and it's mainly been lovely but the last one we had was very disappointing. We were charged nearly £4 more at our front door than what we were told down the phone. Opened the bag and there was a bag of fried rice missing. We didn't see the point of ringing up because by the time it would have turned up the main would have been cold. So we were charged more than was said but with less food. The sauce in one dish was watery with less meat and veg than usual and another was far too salty so they couldn't finish it. Such a shame, I normally recommend this Chinese to family and friends, not anymore. I'll recommend they use somewhere else from now on.

Genuinely the best Chinese I have ever had. I’ve ordered many different dishes both for collection and delivery, and the quality is always perfect. I’ve never been a fan of chow mein, but Durham Chinese’s house special chow mein has converted me. All of the classic dishes (sweet and sour, beef blackbean etc.) are simply perfect. Also highly recommend the Thai Green curry of you like something a bit spicy. Delivery is always quick and prices are very reasonable. Also they often throw in free food when you do a large order, which is greatly appreciated.

Had a few different dishes, all cooked well and flavoursome. Curry very good, black bean good, chow mein good. Quick and friendly service, decent value. No complaints. Recommend the chop suey rolls (you get 2) as a good value add on!

Lovely food nice and fresh good size portions definitely try again

Used to absolutely love this place. Haven’t ordered in a very long time. Really fancied a Chinese so thought I would treat myself as never get takeaways now. Delivery service incredibly fast. Was here within 15 mins and I’m almost 10 mins from the restaurant. The delivery driver was absolutely lovely. But there was some strange sauce/soup type thing all on the inside of the bag. But didn’t seem to be from anything I’d ordered. I was absolutely gob smacked at how much this place has gone downhill. Chow mien was stone cold and had absolutely zero flavour. Spring rolls were hot but were hard almost all the way through into the middle they were that over done. Chicken balls & king prawns swimming in grease with chewy batter as if they were reheated. Spare ribs pretty much all bone and the meat that were on them was rock hard burnt. Rice hot but hard and congealed as if reaheated. Gravy was tasteless and the curry was that thick it all came out the container in one big lump all over the food. Was like jelly. I definitely won’t be back in a hurry. This place used to be so nice. Not anymore. What a shame

Ordered food then told they never put the food through. Called back up had to redo my order and when it came after multiple times saying no nuts both dishes came with nuts honestly such a let down and wast of money

Returning customer Almost every week, our go too’s bath from week to week but include some of the following: salt pepper chicken ball box, salt pepper chicken box, kids meals (very generous portions) - would definitely recommend, always telling family & friends to try

Disgusting we spent £30 and the beef was raw,the curry sauce was so thick I was able to stand a spoon in it I have taken pictures and have sent them to the shop the past 2 times we have ordered from there it has been lovely but this time it has completely put me off!

Ordered for the first time and my partner and sons food was great, I’d ordered a tai red curry with duck having never tried this I looked up the dish and it’s ingredients and generally to look at what i would be eating and what arrived looked nothing like a curry sauce with red paste and no sign of chillis red or green overall the taste wasn’t bad just not what I was expecting and if I were to order this again I would steer clear of the duck which tasted okay but was very fatty, I would definitely like to order from here again however next time I’ll try something else as I feel let down after looking forward to a classic Asian dish granted my expectations were not super high given the relatively low price.

Will not be back gone right down hill second time in 2 month I’ve had bad food from here used to be good but horrible now all of that food gone in the bin , stone cold micro sauce , bland chewy chicken balls also cold , salt and pepper bone no meat , no flavour in the noodles so dry I couldn’t swallow them , the receptionist is so rude absolute vile if I’m honest , last time I’ll eat from here

King prawn beef curry lumpy ,bambooshoots and water chestnuts came out of the carton in one big lump chips were dry as sticks and cold worst Chinese I've had for a long time

First time ordering from here and it’ll be the last. Curry sauce was all clumpy it looked dry how is that even possible. Chips were dry as anything, everything else was alright until I pulled a long hair out my teeth! And it wasn’t mine because I haven’t got long hair! Absolutely disgusting! Will not be ordering from here again.

Just ordered and got my food 32 pound I spent chicken balls are rock hard salt and pepper chips are dry and hard won't be ordering again waste of money

We have used Durham Chinese a lot. However, our recent experience is not based on the food, but the service. We placed order, still had not arrived 1 hour and 30 minutes later. We rang, in which the girl said she would see where it is. My husband was cut off, he could not get back through for another 15 minutes, but when he did, he was told it was still in the kitchen and had just been cooked fresh and would take a further 30/40 minutes to arriv, cancelled order and had to go somewhere else. Not acceptable at all, will not be going back.

Had special Kung po , soft noodles , fried rice, chips, the dish itself was ok , rice and noodles dry and tasteless. Chips didn’t reach the plates went in the bin . All in all very average , I’ll stick to thornley Chinese from now on

I have to leave an honest review, used to be owned by Mr Cheng and food was absolutely faultless. Since the new owners have taken over we have had several meals which would not be suitable to feed a dog. The latest being a crispy fried beef which tasted like charcoal and a beef curry, plenty of spice but the beef has never been anywhere near a cow. Absolutely awful. Please save your money and don’t waste it here!!!

Despite having to wait 1hr & 20 mins.for the food to be delivered,the meal was up to its usual standard. I have never had a bad meal from Durham Chinese,since it opened. Delivery is usually alot quicker,than this one.

They say they open at 5 But when you ring up to make an order they don't even answer I have rang 17 times and yet still ignore the phone it's like they dont want my money

My son ordered i had the curry box with rice noodles a chicken curry with chips my son ordered a salt and pepper chicken box i can only say what I tasted and the chicken for me is frozen and tasteless and I didn't enjoy it. We place our order to pick up at 6.40 on the 2nd October 2020 so you can check I'm just put a new review just to thing wright since the above review iv had one or two more meals from Durham Chinese and the have been really nice I only think it is wright to put a good review after a good few nice meals 😋😋😋

Since we heard about this place a few months ago...its certainly help us through lockdown....hot food...delicious.. no problems no matter what we order!! 10/10 all round!!

Great reviews on facebook but I didn't rate it very highly. Duck rolls one had a bone in it, the chicken chow mein wasn't very tasty and they only take cash - no cards, which they didn't warn me before i collected my order!

The food is out of this world the service is brilliant they can't do enough to help you food always arrives hot. Would highly recommend this takeaway to anybody. If you haven't tried it , its about time you did.
