Just went to an empty restaurant they said was fully booked so have to order overpriced pizza from garden menu. No thanks.

Cannot emphasise enough how excellent the serving crew are at The Big Wittering - we were a group of 9 but both orders + food came quickly and with friendly smiles. The food was hot and delicious so a great meal was enjoyed by everyone. Recommended 👍🏻

What a brilliant evening we’ve just had for my mum’s 60th. The food was absolutely delicious, and Sam and her team were so friendly and attentive, particularly Jack who gave us a really personal service. They went above and beyond to accommodate us tonight, I wish we were local (we’re from Kent) to be able to come back regularly. Thank you all :D

Sorry, but inside the restaurant, where you can order from the entire menu, was completely empty at 5:15 p.m. and when we wanted to have a quick dinner there with our daughter (3 years old), we were pointed out from above that it wouldn't be until A table would be available again at 7:30 p.m. So we left again.

Great, friendly service. Food was great. Could with some wall and/or ceiling absorption panels though as it was very loud. A little too much echo. Apart from that it was lovely and will be returning again

Very open place and lovely garden. There is the option to have the menu from indoors or the pizzas outside. The pizza was very nice and the burrata salad looked very nice.

Not a bad pub but it’s very worth complaining about the cabin in the back. Diabolical, utterly diabolical there was a queue of 3 people and orders stop at 8:45. They refused to serve even though I had been in a queue for the past 10 minutes. That is terribly poor service in my opinion. Hope you can change this for next time I come, even though I’m not too sure I will after this incident.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming, food was delicious from the outside cabin. Definitely coming back for the inside food!!

We had a wonderful time at The Wittering. As a family, we celebrated a 40th and 70th birthday. All ages from 15 to 70, including two dogs. The team were fantastic. Very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious and the drinks were tasty. They have a great offer of 2-4-1 cocktails between 4-7pm on Friday and Saturday's. We were also lucky to be there for some live music in the garden, which was lovely. A perfect way to spend the weekend.

Horrendous experience! Booked a table over the phone a week prior . Table was booked for 4.00pm on Sunday for 6 people as we were travelling down to west wittering beach and looking forward to having a nice meal after our walk. We ideally wanted an evening meal but were told that 4pm was the last available time to book a table as they close early on Sundays which was not a problem so we booked in for 4pm. Decided to leave the beach to get to the pub slightly earlier and once back in the car had received a voicemail at 3.40pm to ask if we were aware it was last orders at 4pm? Why book us a table for 4pm and not advise of this fact? Rang and said we would be 5 minutes. Arrived at the pub at 3.45pm and were rushed to our table and told by who we presume was the front of house manager that she would take our drinks and food order in a couple of minutes.We were also told there was no lamb left on the roast menu leaving just beef! After literally 2 minutes she asked what we wanted and was rushing us to make a decision! Most of the table wanted a roast and were looking forward to ordering the lamb, didn’t fancy beef and apart from that the choices were basically burgers or salads which no one wanted. We advised the manager that we really were looking forward to lamb to be given a patronising reply and told that if we wanted roast to go to the Lamb pub up the road as they serve until late and will have roasts left?! We were left totally dumbfounded! We had booked a table, travelled a long way for a day out and were looking forward to a nice roast dinner but it appeared that they were not interested in having us there as they wanted to go home on time! We did call The Lamb in West Wittering and told them we were on our way. When we walked out of The Wittering none of the staff apologised or said anything at all and all the kitchen staff were just hanging around behind the bar- obviously waiting to go home! The Lamb had a very varied menu with a selection of starters, roasts, alternative mains and puddings. What a difference! They were fully booked but managed to find us a table inside and we had the most amazing meal and service. So if you are considering this pub I would recommend not to bother and go to The Lamb down the road who actually want the business, have an amazing menu choice and quality of food and actually look after their customers! The best thing about The Wittering was them telling us to go to their competitor!!!

We had a great lunch here on a Saturday. It was busy but not chaotic. We had double burgers with skin-on fries and relish, followed by affogatos. The service was great, and we received our meals promptly. The food was tasty and was good value for decent portions. We appreciated a good selection of ales, and I enjoyed my Coastal IPA. The decor is a fresh but cosy, modern coastal theme, we noticed that everything was kept clean and tidy.

We went for Mothering Sunday. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. The food was delicious. The team were so chilled and friendly. They were fully booked and any stress was not showing. Outstanding customer service.

The menu had barely any food options on it and there were none that anyone fancied. The service was amazing, when we sat down they gave us water and they immediately started serving us, it was very sweet. And it's dog friendly!

Popped in for a short visit, coffees were excellent. Chips were perfect and qe also had a small fish and chips which was delicious (local beer in the batter). Mushy peas was small buy packed a punch in temlrms if freshness and flavour. Service was friendly and prompt. Register your car at the front door console for free parking for 4 hours and avoid a fine.

Popped in for the first time and was reasonably impressed. Long Man was excellent though the tea was not as described. Risotto was delicious but small for c. £17 but the Little Monster Haddock, mushy peas & chips tasted quite delicious but to describe a miniature 2 fillet haddock as a Little Monster c. £11 was unfortunate as the monster turned out to be a Little Minnow. Portions really need to be more generous

Recently we spent the night before our wedding at The Wittering, hiring out half of the venue for our party of around 30. We cannot thank the team enough for the experience! The atmosphere was fantastic, service impeccable and the food out of this world! The second bar made the perfect spot for our event with plenty of space for standing, seating and socialising. The chef, Jez deserves a special mention! The team went above and beyond to make our experience extra special and in particular with the food. They set up an incredible taco bar with beef brisket and all the toppings you could imagine, everybody absolutely loved it with many people agreeing that was the best beef brisket they’ve ever had! Thank you so much Ben and the team!

Really excellent food at sensible prices. The peppercorn sauce in particular was outrageously good. Caters really well and clearly for dietary requirements. Service tailed off slightly but we were eating towards the end of service, and staff were really friendly and helpful.

Visited with friends on a busy Saturday evening. Really lovely atmosphere; staff were great and the food was fabulous - mushroom brioche a highlight for me! Great wine list - house rose was yum; a fruity Provence in style but without the price tag! Will definitely be back.

Nice option in West Wittering, mainly for those driving and may struggle to find a place to have food and park. Food could be better. Inside the building, you will find the restaurant which offers normal pub food and it was ok. Outside in the garden, you only have very simple options such as pizza a d that was disappointing. Not sure why they can't have more options leveraging the kitchen from the restaurant.

Good food. Nice pub. Slow service, but there was only a couple of staff - so completely understandable. Small menu but all good we had tasted good and portion sizes were good too.

Lovely little pub. Sat outside and ordered pizza, nachos and drinks from the outside hut. Great food and decent prices. Only one young lad in the outside area, taking orders then making the food, so service was a bit slow but not his fault. Would happily return.

The beach itself is nice, the food terrible, avoid at all costs, rather stop a minute before to the local pubs and grab some takeaway. Sure queue up for ice creams, use your brains 😂

My family had a wonderful experience here today! The food was absolute perfection, and our Server Kitty was excellent. Animal and child friendly. It's a lovely run restaurant.

Not a very good experience. Staff left us waiting for 25 min in a bar were they weren’t serving. Then we found out there is another bar where they were serving. Nobody let us know about it for 25min! After getting the drinks we sat in one of the huts and decided to order some chips but you can not eat chips outside in the garden, only indoors. The “hut menu” doesn’t include chips. Not sure what’s the point of it but there must be a reason.

The food's really good, staff are friendly, and the atmosphere is great, good music inside too. The only annoying thing is that you can only eat the pub food inside and only eat pizza outside. This means that as a group you have to decide whether you want to eat only pizza or only eat from the rest of the menu. In addition to this you are unable to eat pizza inside on a cold day and unable to eat pub food outside when it's sunny. The reason they gave was for efficiency during busy times but it wasn't even busy when we went and seems like a silly rule regardless - especially with such a nice outdoor area. They've also changed the pub name to match the village, which is super confusing and annoying, much preferred the old name (old house at home)! If they get rid of the silly rule about where you can sit I'd be happy to change this to a 5 star review.

Plenty of walking along the beach, also visit chichester harbour, free parking. West Wittering car park is overpriced and threatening ie number plate recognision. We parked at East Wittering and walked to West Wittering. Caught bus back.

Wow! That was one of the best roast lunches I’ve ever had. Everything was perfect BUT the stock for the jus (I can’t call that gravy). This was a highly reduced beef stock. The only other time I’ve had that experience was a pub I owned with chef patron Andy Jones and he was THE expert at reductions. I really hope this is not a one off as I’ve got to have this roast again. I’m blown away and I don’t say that lightly. As for the pub, great staff, a minor mix up with the booking was rectified and a slight delay with one of the mains was dealt with promptly and professionally. I can not rate this experience high enough and really hope to visit again

Stopped off for lunch after a stroll along the beach, so it had to be fish and chips. The best we have ever had, absolutely delicious (and a very generous portion too) Service was excellent and pub had a nice relaxed feel too. We'll definitely visit again soon. (Wish you were our local!)

Food and service were both excellent. Just wish they’d do something to the interior- need soft furnishings and the decor feels far too daytime summer beach vibe. Feels like there should be some cozy elements. Lighting is bad too. It’s a shame and doesn’t feel right for the evening and definitely doesn’t match the quality of the food.

We went for lunch 27th Dec. The menu was small but well thought out. Good representation for the area. Fish, meat veggie. The service was friendly and informed. They are dog friendly. I had the seared cod which was cooked 👌 my wife had the burger, again cooked wonderfully. The chef knows what he/ she is doing . Good luck for the future

Cosy pub with friendly staff and food was high quality but affordable. Cod for main was particularly good :) Look forward to coming back for another lunch after a beach walk. Definitely worth a visit!

Gastro pub with amazing food! We arrived late into Saturday evening and although fully booked, they managed to accommodate us. So glad they did, because we were very hungry and the food far exceeded ‘gastro pub’ experience. Lovely up to date decor and ambiance.

All-round good from the large car park with CCTV to the large garden with seating, some in little summerhouses, and inside the very cool decor. Friendly service, lovely proper bitter and the tastiest beef sandwich.

We recently enjoyed an evening meal at The Wittering. The menu featured a good selection of dishes that ranged from high quality pub classics through to more inventive plates. All of our food was served promptly and tasted great – we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The pub itself is beautifully decorated and has some lovely paintings hung throughout. An added bonus was the great selection of beers - it was refreshing to see some interesting ales on tap. Would definitely book again.

We came here yesterday. It’s a nice pub with a nice garden. The food isn’t much cop. We had the fish and chips costing £18 each. The fish wasn’t all that nice and the chips were rank. Not worth the price you pay. It’s very pricy in the current cost of living issues we are all facing. They ran out of Amstel and my partner had to suffer a beer he doesn’t like. Not good at all. The menu doesn’t have loads of choice and over all very disappointed in this place

A brilliant location if you want to be within striking distance of the sea. We stayed in one of a few rooms. Our room was pretty, tidy, well equipped but a little narrow for a couple. But good value for the location. The only niggle was the food. In of itself was tasty but suffered from the sin of being a bit too expensive and a bit too small. For example my Chicken Supreme main was small, and lacked any carb. For £13-14 it would be reasonable, at £18 in a pub garden setting, it felt a little mean. If the portions were generous, I wouldn't have batted an eyelid at the prices. As they weren't the price became the topic, and still feeling hungry the problem. Easy fix, bring bread and butter with the meal, also source cheaper ingredients (not cheap, but cheaper I.e. more than 25miles away if needed) and increase the portions! I hope to return and with a few tweaks, 5 stars easy.

We ate in the Wittering Pub, West Wittering, last week on a visit to the UK and it was fantastic. The food was delicious, the service faultless and the staff friendly, courteous and efficient. From the local art on the walls, the colour palate throughout, it is evident that a lot of love and thought has gone into every aspect of this establishment. It is a triumph on every level and we will certainly be returning.

Disappointing - pre booked table - ordered drinks - had to go to the bar to remind them 20 minutes later, ordered food, waited an hour - basically put in a corner and forgotten - ended up leaving without eating - for those prices I would expect rather more. l would not recommend and will not be returning

The Wittering is a fantastic pub - highly recommended. Whilst some reviewers have pointed out teething problems at the start, it is not easy launching a new place coming out of a pandemic. The food here is excellent - the chef really knows what they are doing. The drinks are thoughtfully chosen and the staff are always friendly and accommodating. And when the sun is shining the garden out back always seems to have space.

What a find! This is one of those rare gems that you stumble upon and get the unexpected. Upon entering the pub you get a great welcome and the atmosphere is perfect for a family dining experience. The menu provided a selection of food which is way above the standard of normal pubs. The food itself was sublime. Beautifully presented and very tasty. The service was superb with the staff attentive, but not overbearing. I would fully recommend this as a great place to dine and enjoy a night out.

Absolutely terrible, services were slow and the food was very bland, I was disappointed with the service standards the poor young staff where Running around confused, we had to wait 40-55 minutes just for chips, our hot dogs were on the side for 10 minuets after being given a buzzer , I was also annoyed at the fact as our chips were dropped on the floor , I do support the fact that all the staff were apologising but it took ages just to get food , I was outside cold as inside was all packed , I was also upset about the taxi but that’s a different story , I’m disappointed as food was over priced , I will never come back here again.

Attended this evening to a nice looking pub with pleasant designed garden area. Presented with the choice of 4 choices of what was advertised as street food. Second choice was the main menu. Both very overpriced for what was served. Have to say the choices were not amazing as many people have reviewed. Then they had run out of nachos and the remaining “street food” was two small pizzas and a hot dog. The whole ordering experience was a real challenge for the rather young looking bar staff with the customer service skills of the same. In summary, no steak, no nachos and over 50 minutes to wait for hot dogs to then find they had been sat on the side for a good 15 minutes. The barman apologised, saying he had paged us many times…. Sadly didn’t have the initiative to look to his left at the only large party in the garden. They offered to reheat them and were placed into a microwave behind him. Having looked at all the recent reviews this appears to be an ongoing trend. 2 years ago wasn’t bad but this time we won’t be returning.

Extremely dissatisfied. Waiting staff exceeded all expectations by being ignorant, unprofessional without any clue about etiquette and customer service. I guess this goes down to management. Food is tasteless, disgusting and overpriced. 8pm and place is already run out of a lot of things from the menu. Will never go back there again.

Disapointed and expensive. 4 out of our party of 5 had Fish & Chips, at a hefty £18 we expected better quality, the batter was awful and an odd colour. The preivious owners of this pub had the best fish & chips in the area. We now live in the Cotswolds and found the pricing at The Wittering above the standard of their food. Service wasn't great either, sadly mainly young men who obviously would rather be somewhere els. We eat out regularly at high end pubs and restaurants and l dont give bad reviews lightly. We wont be back.
