We visit Brixham every year and always see this place when going to The Manor but never dared to go in as we didn't feel we knew enough about wine. However this year we decided to be brave boys and go in! SO SO glad we did! We both tried mystery wine flights and were honest that we would not be able to tell the grapes or countries, just which ones we likes. The owner was exceptional, he guided us on the wines, explained why we might like some and not the others, reccomended other wines to try based on the ones we liked and at no point made us feel "stupid" for not knowing the ins and outs of wine tasting etc. He reccomended a book to us which we have already ordered. The food is fantastic, just perfect to go with a bottle of wine or two, especially the manchego! We left very happy and with a bag full of goodies from the deli section along with a bottle of wine. CANOT WAIT to go back!!!! Thank you!

We have lived in Brixham for over 2 years and on the recommendation of friend decided to try the Wine Loft for lunch and glad we did. Had a lovely meat platter and the pedron peppers were gorgeous. Coupled with a lovely bottle of wine we will definitely be back!

Wonderful wine shop and wine bar combined. Great taster menus on occasion too. There is something rather special about sipping a great wine surrounded by an interesting display of wines. Prices not much more than retail but on another level of quality. Large windows overlook Brixham. Not to be missed.

Such an amazing visit. We so appreciated the ambiance and informative help which we received. The Wine Loft has a dazzling array of wines all hand picked by the owner, we learned so much, whilst enjoying beautiful wines, served in perfect glasses, accompanied by a superb taps plate, firstly of exquisite cheeses then of finest Serano ham. An absolute must, situated in Middle Street, Brixham, recommended by a good friend, although we don't live locally, we will certainly take advantage of the delivery policy of this innovative and premium quality business

On the positive side the cakes etc are exquisite, however.... Ignoring the fact that there seems to a distinct, as others in reviews have put it, frostiness*, from the elderly server, there is an issue of cross contamination on the products provided. Her Observational skills are lacking and indeed a duty of care or realisation of actions. A large box was used to house the cakes chosen; enough to fill the box . It was the intention, once the size of the box was realised, to ensure the cakes would not suffer any damage in transit by filling the box fully enough so that lateral movement would not occur. Call it customer common sense. The server did not have and protective gloves on, not that that is an issue ordinarily, it would probably impede the manipulation of the cakes into the box possibly. The observational issue is that the server, the elderly women, was content to close the lid of the box which would hae dislodged and altered the appearance of said wonderfully crafted pattiserie. Just before the elderly woman's (server) intent to close the box and therefore alter the presentation of the skilled craftsperson a polite intervention was needed. Again, ignoring the 'frostiness' of the server, she was content to simply push the offending topping of the cakes into and aside thus altering the artistry intended. This was completed aplomb and with scant regard to cleanliness or the thought of cross contamination. Remember her fingers contacted a number of cakes. The likelihood of this individual having washed her hands previously is called into doubt given the attitude perceived. It was thought better to pay and leave rather than have any further interaction. Good job this was not a test purchase by some food standards agency. * The elderly womens distinct 'non contentment ' was prevalent, but as this is a transaction that was not reliant on feelings and perception, the issue of attitude pales into insignificance when the ignorance of simple safe practice is called into question.

My party of seven had the Christmas lunch at 12.30 on 27thNovember. The welcome and service were excellent. Sadly my wife and me didn't enjoy the main course I had beef wife had turkey. The turkey was rolled turkey breast and not breast crown which we expected. Christmas lunch should have been at least carved breast crown. My beef was over cooked and very dry also not carved from joint. The potatoes were very hard on outside and difficult to cut into. As it was a reunion event I felt best to not complain at the time. Having had time to think about the meal I don't believe it met our expectations we have come to know from the hotel. We certainly wouldn't recommend this Christmas meal.
