Traveling up from London to take my Dad (aged 99) for lunch on Tuesday ( He’s been going to this pub for 30 years - It’s his favourite). Wanted to book a table for 2 people at 12:00 to 12:15. Unfortunately they’re fully booked……BUT they said come along as early as you can and we’ll sort something out FAB!

I have to say, the food was lovely. However we did wait over an hour for our food, which was fine, it was busy. We managed to ordered dessert but before we had even finished were told by the waitress that she needed the table back in 10 minutes, which as we had waited patiently for over an hour for our food, kind of left a bad taste. I'm sure this is not the norm, overall the place seems lovely.

We love the windmill and decided to book to eat there for the first time since been taken over. We rang twice around 6 ish and got no reply so went into the online booking which said no availability. We decided we’d call by on the off chance and were pleased to be told they weren’t busy. My husband asked for a beer, the young girl didn’t know her beers from lagers and after going to check said they only had Theakstons so he went with that. We ordered starters and mains but the mains came out first and after taking them back we were told the starters wouldn’t be long. Having checked with the waitress that it wouldn’t be the same mains we’d get later and having had that confirmed we sadly feel we did; the cold piped potato round my chicken was swimming in watery juice from the meat and the chicken and black pudding were dry. My husbands veg were luke warm and his cottage pie too hot to eat and, he felt, zapped in the microwave! So disappointed but we paid up as we don’t like making a scene. We won’t be going back to eat which is a real shame.

Visited in September. The cottage pie was tasty and clearly made with good quality beef. Suggest chef adds some gravy or a small jug offered, as a tad dry for me. Pinched some of my wife's as it came with the belly pork. The mini bread loaf was fresh and appeared home made. Needs some butter or olive oil though. Beer good as always. Often pop in for a pint when walking. Glass of rioja went well with the pie.

We recently had Sunday lunch here with our 2 children, grandparents and aunt and uncle. Beautiful pub with a great atmosphere. We were all very impressed with the food. We've had Sunday roasts in all the pubs in the surrounding areas, and this was by far the best. Perfect portion sizes and excellent value for money. The food quality was a step above the usual pub food. The staff were very friendly and they put a birthday candle on our daughter's dessert and sang happy birthday. Well worth a visit, we'll certainly be back

We visited for Sunday dinner, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The service was painfully slow from start to finish. It took almost 45 minutes just to get someone to come to take our drinks order and then another 15 minutes for the drinks to arrive. When our food finally arrived, 90 minutes after arrival, we had to wait another 15 minutes for a missing meal. On top of the slow service and missing order, it felt like an absolute burden for the chef to swap mash for fries for two children’s meals. Whilst the young waitresses were pleasant, it was clear they lacked proper leadership and direction. Everything from service speed to handling simple requests was chaotic and disorganised. Overall, the slow service and mishandling of our order really ruined what should have been a relaxing Sunday dinner. Definitely not worth the wait or frustration.

We heard some really great things about the pub and the new management. Not been for a while as we had a bad experience previously however we thought we would try again and had booked in. Was so surprised to see how busy the pub was, and on arrival we were greeted by the team and shown to our table. To say that the restaurant was full we did expect the service to take a bit longer and was really impressed that we weren’t waiting that long. The food quality is most definitely better and the roast beef was cooked to perfection. Well done The Windmill Inn. We can’t wait to return,

Overpriced food for what it is. Steak was average, and the sauce ordered with it was supposed to be blue cheese but tasted like bechamel sauce we had to season everything. My friend got the cottage pie, which was dry and again lacking flavour she had to ask for gravy as it was so dry and tasteless. The staff didn't have a clue what they were serving they could not tell the difference between a fillet steak or ribeye when serving. They didn't ask when ordering how we liked it and obviously were young and under trained. Will not be visiting again 😒

Came here after a horrible experience prior (at a different pub) Food was INSANE!! Ordered the pork belly and it came with the most delicious strip of crackling on top. Veg was all well cooked & seasoned & fresh, roasties were crispy and the gravy was literally probably the nicest gravy i’ve had. 10/10 would recommend.

Popped in here unplanned towards the end of our dog walk. Not been here before or heard of it. Very impressed with the pub it looked great lovely beer garden so we decided to stay for tea. As we had two dogs we decided to eat in the beer garden. I went out n to get get a couple of drinks and menu. Locals a bit rude as they didn’t even let me get to the bar to order. I went back to the bar to order food. I was told the beef and pork used for Sunday dinner could also be served in a sandwich. I was thinking big crispy baguette or think bloomer bread with think sliced beef with chunky chips and Gravy. So me and my wife both ordered the beef sandwich and chips and gravy. Well I was soooo disappointed when the sandwich turned up in what looked like cheap white sliced bread. I was gutted. For £10 I expected more. The £10 was just for the sandwich !!! I must point out though the beef in the sandwich was amazing although didn’t rescue it from the floppy sliced bread. Chips were nice. Service not great we were paying inside restaurant prices but the waitress brought the meals out and asked us to get our own cutlery and condiments even though she walked past them twice. No one came back out to check everything was ok . Went in to pay, we could have probably walked off without paying as we’d been forgotten about. When paying landlady made a sarcastic comment that we’d only had one drink each and that wasn’t very good business. £34 for two beef sandwiches in white sliced bread one portion of chips and 2 pints really good for business. We did look on the menu online after and the hot beef sandwich on there says it comes in a baguette!! Was really excited when we walked in but left a bit flat
