Had a wonderful afternoon at the White Swan Tea Room. We booked for the four of us to partake in their Gin infused afternoon tea. It's a pretty, traditional tea room, with its quaint decor and beautiful mix of dainty china crockery. We had a gin cocktail with local cassis and rose lemonade, sugar rim and a delicate iced flower on the edge. Lovely selection of sandwiches, chicken, ham, cucumber and cheese. The scones made with blueberry and gin, served with jam and clotted cream, were the best scones I've tasted in a long time, they were absolutely scrummy, then again so was the pistachio macaroons, the cream filled meringue, strawberry profiteroles and the knock your socks off, beautifully delicious lemon cake, all gin infused. Plenty of tea or coffee in a relaxed setting. We were looked after fabulously by the owner. Who is considering doing these more regularly, looking at a pimms afternoon tea. I feel it was extremely good value for money. I will definitely want to partake in another one.

There was a homely, welcoming feel at this cafe with food made to order. There appeared to be one woman doing everything and she was very welcoming and friendly. I had a delicious bacon and brie sandwich followed by a lovely piece of caramel shortbread.

To be honest I'm suprised by the negative reviews on here, we thought this was a great find! So pleased to stumble on it. I had a cheese sandwich, my fiance had a jacket potato and our 3 year old and 21 month old had pancakes. We thought the food was lovely. Really fresh and tasty. The lady who owned it was super friendly and very welcoming as was the chef. She even got some dominos for my 3 year old to play with when he got fussy. The only reason I scored 4 and not 5 is because the menu was quite limited but nothing was too much trouble for them. I also adored how quirky it is! I'll definitely go back!

The epitome of what you would expect a tea room to be. Lovely atmosphere. Home made cakes, beautifully baked and presented. Sandwiches with crusts removed-I complained about that and had a doorstep crust to compensate (lol). The tea was traditionally served in China teapots, the coffee was brilliant. We were treated like royalty and our mother loved it. The cakes were made to order. The inevitable scones with jam and clotted cream were amazing. Highly recommended but I would recommend booking as I did for a family of 6 as it is compact and bijou. Thank you. See you again soon

20th September 2019. Lunch for 4. Jacket potatoes for 2 were decent, chilli not that good, and my wife's scone was rather "doughy", so a mixed experience - hence the "average" rating. Service is very friendly and efficient, and the location pleasant. There is outside seating, but it's probably getting a tad chilly for that now.

Have visited this cafe on a few occasions and have always been greeted with a warm welcome and nothing's been too much trouble for the staff. The food's always been excellent and served promptly. I'm surprised to read negative comments - and the comment about the wonky outside table....it's surely due to the uneven street cobbles and not the fault of the cafè! I'll continue to return time again.

I cant believe i spent £6.60 on a jacket potato that wasn't even nice. It tasted Microwaved. 'Fresh' my ass. Our table was very unstable. The time it took for just one meal was tremendous, it took nearly more than 20 minutes. It was really bad customer service, i didn't feel welcome there at all. The cheese tasted weird, it was like it was fake cheese, it was kinda tasteless, and really really rubbery, the potato tasted microwaved and slightly off in the middle. I wanted some milk but i never got offered it, and when i asked the lady just ignored me. Really bad. I recommend going to the place next door.

Having heard good reviews we decided to give this cafe a try for lunch. As it was a lovely day we decided to sit outside in the courtyard. Our table was very wonky due The the paving slabs and when our coffee arrived most of it ended up in the saucer. The service was non-existent and we waited approximately 25 mins for our order to arrive. This was probably the smallest jacket potato I’ve even seen and given the price not value for money. The cheese was tasteless and like rubber and the beans tepid. We won’t be returning I would however recommend the Whole Earth Cafe next door.

This is a tea room with a difference - and very pleasantly so. We just dropped in for a tea/coffee but were attracted by the range, quality and originality of the home-baked cakes on offer. Was particularly intrigued to see a unicorn cake, but reassured by the note on it stating that 'no unicorns were harmed in the baking of this cake'. And, if you don't want cake, shortbread, scones and light bites are also available. The prices are very reasonable and the service is prompt and friendly, but not overly so. The tea room itself is a visual feast - lots of bright colours, but very artistically done, not garish, and the walls are covered with curios. This tea room should appeal to all ages but I think (younger) children in particular should find it quite magical - and you can also have fun playing 'do you what that is?' and pointing to the some of the items on the walls (I won't spolit the fun by listing any here). We look forward to returning when next in the area.

Popped in for a cuppa and cake on a Tuesday morning, the tea room was empty and quite cold, ordered a tea and hot chocolate, which arrived promptly, tea was a little weak, and hot chocolate could have done with being hotter. We intended having a cake but nothing appealed to us, we thought they were weekend leftovers. Table cloths were grubby and the floor not clean. The 2 members of staff were friendly and the chef very chatty, all be it running down the owner of another establishment in the town, not very professional, and continually shouted to his wife in the kitchen.

Went for a quick lunch on a Saturday. It was busy but we decided to sit outside and have a drink until a table became free inside. The sandwiches were simple but very nice and served with a good, fresh salad and a few crisps. Baked potato came with a generous pot of filling that you could add to taste. The decor is quite retro and there are 1950's cook books and home management manuals to read. If you enjoy knitting there was some at the table to work on while you waited. We had seen their full breakfast on the menu so decided to give it a try after our walk. It was fantastic. There was a little bit of a wait as everything is cooked fresh but it was worth it. The ingredients were top notch and included bubble and squeak - very unusual. A pet hate of ours is ‘cooked’ tomato that all too often ends up being almost raw. These were cooked in butter to soft perfection. The staff at the tea room are friendly and accommodating and the pot of tea was lovely. All In all very highly recommended.

The staff are super friendly and even when we arrived a little before opening time they had no problem making us hot drinks while we waited for our breakfasts to cook. As I mentioned earlier the breakfast is outstanding and amazing value plus it's the only place outside of Yorkshire that I know of that serves bubble and squeak with their breakfast and that is the best bit about is overall outstanding meal. We visited the White Swan on one of the few rainy days in July 2018. I knew it was a safe place for my 2 Coeliac children as we were there a few months earlier for lovely GF afternoon tea with Hereford Coeliac Group (scones, cakes & sandwiches all gf). On this occasion in July though they had been visited by so many tourists that the afternoon tea ingredients had all run out as it was close to the end of a long day. We had baked potatoes and toasted sandwiches which were very nice. So impressed because my Coeliac kids were able to have their first GF toasted sandwich ever - all utensils are separate and different area of the kitchen is used for GF. The owner has a Coeliac relative I think so the awareness is good. My son finished off with a lovely piece of homemade GF carrot cake. Another rare treat for a Coeliac. I promised them I would post to here it is. Thanks for looking after us so well and keep up the good work White Swan!

We'd pre-booked an Afternoon Tea and it was absolutely stunning - the flowery cakes are really so pretty you feel guilty for eating them (but not for too long). Fresh and tasty sandwiches, warm scones with jam and clotted cream, gold-leaf blueberries to decorate, cakes, meringues, more cakes and the décor which is lovely to look at when not closing your eyes to savour another mouthful !! Food presentation second to none - like food should be - an experience. We had a wheelchair and this was accommodated no problem. Lovely relaxing treat for Mum ! THANK YOU - we'll be back !

Would highly recommend this gorgeous little tearoom! Home made lemon drizzle cake and espresso cake were just amazing. The ladies were so friendly too. Big thanks from Natasha and Mark.

This is a nice and small cafe, it's child and dog friendly. We have visited here now for 2nd time as we found the staff, the coffee and food very good. I recommend getting in there nice and early to get a table as space is limited.

I came here for afternoon tea a few weeks ago with two friends, we have numerous dietary requires with gluten and dairy free but the ladies were so accommodating and made the experience fuss free. I can not compliment the ladies on their customer service skills enough, just wonderful! The afternoon tea itself was delicious, everything handmade and scrumptious, cannot fault it! We will all definitely be back soon :)

We had walked from Symonds Yat, with Westies Archie and Mollie, so were delighted to find this beautiful, vintage style tea room that welcomed them in too. We had coffee and a delicious Violet and Chocolate cake. Archie and Mollie were treated with dog biccies by the two ladies who ran the tea room. We cannot recommend this highly enough. Archie will certainly want to go back.

Stopped mid-afternoon for afternoon tea. Nicely served on proper china plates, cups and saucers. The waitress was very quick with our order and very attentive. We finished off with plenty of green tea.

Tucked away in an archade at the top of town this is a Delight. Very pretty with home baked cakes. Even better, they cater for all types of diet and even do afternoon tea for vegans!

I booked for a large group of us to celebrate a new arrival. The booking process was easy and the staff easy to talk to, to organise and plan. The tea room itself is bright and welcoming and the setting very quaint. The afternoon tea was brilliant. Lovely sandwiches, choice of teas (or coffee) and the cakes were so pretty you almost didn't want to eat them. A really enjoyable afternoon.

I took my family to the White Swan for a special lunch and we loved the setting and the atmosphere. The staff were very attentive and made us feel very welcome. The cake on offer is really special - with the Nutella Muffin being a particular highlight! Some of the best scones we've had in a Tea Room. I'd definitely recommend a visit!

The food is always good. When it was first set up it was shocking but now it is class. The only downside is the staff. They are rude and impatient. I had a delivery and a dominos worker rang me and was shouting at me that the driver was outside my house, why wasnt I there, over and over again. the driver was at the wrong house and I was standing in my porch, not even able to see them. the delivery drivers are lovely, cannot say a bad word about them but the fact the worker shouted at me down the phone that I was ignoring the delivery driver is a put off. if the food was not excellent I would 100% slate this place but its a good meal

Took my sales team here for lunch, 10 of us in total. The food is incredible and you certainly won’t go hungry. Everyone at the pub is friendly and can’t do enough for you. Feels like a good old fashioned boozer set in an amazing position on the Wye. Everyone only had good things to say about the place. Steak is a specialty here. No hesitation in recommending the Rose and Crown. Thanks all who looked after us that day.
