Millers Arms in Monmouthshire

Nice little independently owned pub in the village of Mathern. Food is exceptionally nice compared to chain pubs but can take a while to come depending on the size of your party. Outdoor covered patio area offers a dog friendly seating area, also for those who just generally prefer to sit outside, even on a rainy day. The interior of the pub is very presentable, too, and toilets are very clean. One of the best, if not THE best, independent pubs I've eaten at.

Nice local atmosphere and friendly service. Food was akin to fast food. Most likely frozen.

We were stopping at the Welsh gate house and Millers arms was only a 10 minute walk. Staff and locals were friendly and helpful and atmosphere was welcoming. We went in on the Wed night and Thurs night both nights meals were delicious. The menu was great from pub classics to other great choices. If we lived in the area this would definitely be our local

Fantastic value for money. £13 for a Sunday Lunch and left with a belly full as an egg. Plenty of meat and large, fantastic roast potatoes. Great portions. Photo of the plate then plenty of veg and gravy to add to my liking.

Stayed in our motorhome as part of the Brit Stops scheme, called ahead to reserve a space. On arrival our spot was held for us to park easily. Owner extremely helpful and friendly. We checked out the menu beforehand, lots of options to choose from. Sometimes the more choice, the quality can suffer...but not in their case. I had the sirloin with all trimmings and my partner had the gammon with melted cheese. The portions were huge, in fact we both had chips left over (lucky dogs) and my partner has never not been able to finish a meal since I've known him!! Of course the only downside was we were too full to indulge in a dessert ...maybe next time. Staff all friendly and efficient, nice atmosphere,great food at reasonable prices, such excellent value. Would definitely recommend 👌 👍

Was very busy.... went to order, we was told to come back once they had caught up with orders. Only had a starter soup and roll . It was very nice . Lovely waitress

Nice pub. Vegan curry, supposed to be medium, was watery and hot, needs more flavour and less heat, and better vegetables please.

I love coming to The Millers for a meal! My favourite dish is the Carbonara! My boyfriend would definitely recommend the Beef Lasagne! Delicious! The menu is rather extensive - trying something different each time! The atmosphere is always great, the staff are very welcoming and friendly! The owners Amanda & Shaun really are incredible too! They do different deals each day through the week also - Wednesday = Steak Night Thursday = Curry Night Friday = Fish Friday I definitely recommend The Millers Arms - it’s a nice secluded area, not much traffic so it’s very peaceful and I love it! Look forward to coming back!

OMW. Rang very LAST minute,spoke with Amanda, on our way home, the first day of the six nations rugby. 3rd February. Arrived to a fantastic atmosphere for both the rugby and pub in general. Katie our waitress. Ordered both starter and main. If there was one criticism my partner was limited for choice of starter. I could not decide between two fish dishes Main [ let chef decide ].... We had Chilli cheese bites Whitebait. Starter Chilli Pan fried salmon. Main. Absolutely divine. Piping hot. Served promptly...... Katie is an absolute credit to you all. You can never sack her. Will raise a petition if you do 😂 Certainly a well oiled cog, from bar, to waiting, to kitchen . Absolute pleasure to meet you all, will certainly be back soon, to try Sunday Lunch............x

Lovely Pub,been here a couple of times now and the food is very good,and the service excellent,a hidden jem.

Totally worth a visit. I live roughly one and a half hours from this great family pub. Every time I have been there the owners go out of their way to make us feel welcome. The atmosphere is great the drinks are priced well and theres usually a variety of cocktails to try. The food always smells fantastic and is even better when you taste it. My only complaint is that I live so far away that I cant go there more often.

This is my local pub and where I regularly eat great meals. I’ve been going there for over 30 yrs. The staff are very friendly and the beer is excellent especially the Doom Bar and its own label beer called Millers Ale which I believe is brewed in Wales. There is a folk band who tend to go to the pub to sing and play together on the first Monday night of the month and there are fun quiz nights every few Tuesdays. In winter you need to check the opening hours for the start of the week as the team tend to have a break on Mondays. With the upcoming 6 nations, it’s a great place to watch rugby as they have a large screen projector. There are singers and bands that appear from time to time.

Had an amazing Sunday lunch here today, good portions, at very good value. Lovely atmosphere and everyone friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back. Thank you.

Highly recommended from a person at the petrol station, A great selection of food with a friendly service. The restaurant was full so had a five minute wait which I didn't mind as the staff and regulars made me feel welcome.

Wow how busy has this pub become January we came tonight me and my wife to celebrate our anniversary and when we got there place was packed ace pint of real ale and the food was outstanding for the value my wife and I had a great evening thank you she said how well the staff delivered our food and compliments to the chef as they never get to hear the feed back what pressure they must of been under We be back

We had Sunday lunch. Amazing value and good, tasty food. I mean this in a good way ... it wasn't a "fancy" sunday lunch ... but a good, well cooked, tasty roast. Generous portions and great value! Will definitely return!

Country pub that we again went for Sunday meal. But out of the way so you need your own transport . Plenty of parking . Meals were good portions sizes well cooked plenty of choice . Good dessert offerings too for a Sunday menu

Stayed near here on a weekend break and fantastic meals both Friday and for the Sunday roast. They did a lovely job preparing gluten free food for my wife!

We enjoyed a delicious & excellent value Sunday Roast in this clean & nicely decorated pub, which rarely these days, manages to retain it's original charm. On tap a well kept, 1st class pint of beer (Mumbles Brewery) & credit due to all staff who together were some of the nicest & most professional people I've met in quite a while. We had a lovely evening meal. When we arrived a cider festival was just ending so there was still live music playing. However, we were assured that it would be quieter for our meal and it was! The staff were very efficient and friendly. The food was excellent. My husband said the vegetarian lasagne was the best he had ever eaten! The meat lasagne was good, too. Highly recommended for very good food that reasonably priced. Dog friendly, too!

Just off the M48, stayed over on our way to Pembrey Country Park…, was a little dis-organised as they have building work in the main outside area. Planned to be finished in the next couple of weeks, overnight for 2 motorhomes (BritStops) with Power and water. Great walk to the fishing lakes via public paths opposite the pub!

We called in on a weekday at 2pm.. Dog friendly & very welcoming.. Delicious homemade food at very reasonable prices.. Absolutely would recommend 💥

We went for a Sunday roast. They have a great deal on £10 for 2 courses. When we finally received the dinner, it was delightful! We both loved the roast. Unfortunately, the service was extremely slow 🐌. There was a group party there and 100% of the staff were focused on the party and their needs and not on the other paying customers at the front of the pub. They did apologize for the delay.
