Lovely staff and the beer is kept well. Friendly local people. I can't fault this pub. I hope it remains as it is for as long as I live...

We visited for lunch with friends our normal meeting place was inaccessible due to snow so we met half way in Hyde. I have to say the food was something else me and my friend had the homemade minced beef pie, it was packed with meat and it was delicious at £6.25 for a large portion and £5 for a small it was incredible value for money. We followed that with apple and blackberry crumble and custard again delicious and incredible value at £3. We will certainly visit again and the premises were spotlessly clean and all tables sanitised as guests left we felt very safe as well

Visited as 1 in a group of 9 walkers. An old traditional pub. We received a really warm welcome, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Our table for 9 was ready and waiting for us on arrival. Fantastic home cooked food, good choice and would recommend the mince & onion pie. Limited real ales but those available were fabulous. A lovely cook who showed her face was obviously very able. I would visit again.

I have been visiting this venue for around two years not just for a weekend evening but for lunch once or twice a week. The value for money, the service and friendliest are by far the best around. The quality of the food is 1st class and so is the presentation. I struggle to find the words to describe this establishment to be able to present it properly, it's absolutely fantastic, everything. Please give it a try, Mondays to Saturdays inclusive between 11am and 3pm although please try not to turn up on the stroke of 3pm thank you from a very satisfied and loyal customer.

We enjoyed ourselves so much we came back again the very next day to do it all over again. Thoroughly enjoyed my roast beef. Looks like they’ve recently done it up and it’s very well presented

Called in for drinks on our way to meet friends one Saturday afternoon, there was a party on and the place was buzzing, very friendly locals and cheerful staff, they have a well stocked bar and some great beers and Ales, the pub faces the market, and ideal for your lunch whilst shopping.

I recently had my dinner in this pub, it was recommended to me by a man that goes in nearly every day for his dinner. I am a pensioner and the meal cost just four pounds, that was with a pot of tea included. The lady that took the order was lovely, as was the food, there was a good list for me to choose from, the only let down was the man that brought it to me, he looked at me questioning as he put it in front of me, a smile and an enjoy your meal would I feel have been appropriate...anyway, I will be returning, I need to try out all other items on the menu.

I don't know why there is such a terrible review, as for closing at 8pm, yes children are asked to leave so the grown ups can enjoy a whinge free evening!!!! Great food and friendly service is what keeps customers coming back😁

Trust me if you go there it is so friendly and that includes customers who also go back regular some of them every day. The staff are also brilliant and serve you properly but also can have a great laugh with you.

Although the pub advertises home cooking that is not strictly true. Frozen chips, etc. There is a very warm welcome from Wendy and Pete but sadly the two female kitchen staff can be quite nasty.

The food in the white lion is made fresh and everything is made from scratch, so if your looking for a home cooked meal at a very reasonable price... this is the place.

Everything about that pub is disgusting. Almost 3 drinks cost £10, the place stank of rancid old cooking oil, no wonder no one ever goes in and it closes at 8pm, the place is vile, carpet is about 40 years old, i'd never go in there again, absolutely rotten, the smell would put anyone off eating in there and so would the price of the drinks. Absolutely vile.

Foods always cold, expensive. Not worth your time. Just nip into pound bakery opposite and you'll thank me later

I come here every week and each time I do i say I'm not coming again. Staff are miserable unfriendly and after coming for so long you think they would know what we have each week. My coffee is barely hot the bacon has been cold too. Service is shocking and the girls have no customer service skills. Maybe put them on customer service training otherwise you'll be losing more customers Wont be visiting again I'll enjoy my walk and have refreshments elsewhere.

Went in to look at bread only to be screamed at by a member of staff about there being a queue. Pointed out that I hadn’t selected anything yet but she just carried on barking about the queue so walked out. Very rude
