The white lion Braunton in North Devon

Just wanted to say a big thank you to the landlady who kindly allowed me to borrow two wine glasses for the Indian Restaurant across the road who didn't have a single wine glass in their restaurant. I only popped in for a few minutes but the staff seemed friendly, the atmosphere great and the locals at the bar welcoming. When I'm next in the area I'll definitely stop by for a drink. Thanks again 👍

Classic pub, friendly service. Unfortunately the burgers didn't taste good at all. The burger buns were not toasted or toasted and the vegan burger had no sauce. Unfortunately not a recommendation!

3 cask ales. Great tasty food. Staff are very welcoming and a good atmosphere. Even has a selection of games. Traditional pub with a traditional menu. Scampi and chips one of the best I've had in a long time. Recommended. Only one negative thing is it's not really accessible. Apart from that brilliant. Back again in August 2024 and continues to be a brilliant pub for food and drink. An added bonus tonight (every Thursday) live music with an open mic and plenty of local talent to enjoy. Fantastic place, just go and eat, drink and listen to talented people play all kinds of music (especially like Sasha Brennand 😘).

Went for a family (4 andults & 2 children )early evening meal,food was lovely. Catered for celiacs (gluten free) the best fish and chips my wife's had in a long time,dog friendly and very reasonable prices

Had a lovely meal here with the family. Food was superb, and the staff were absolutely lovely. The lady behind the bar was lovely & chatty, and the chef was very accomodating. All the locals that were in were also really friendly. Very nice, traditional, family friendly pub. Would come back anytime, and would definitely recommend.

Friendly atmosphere, food was cooked really well - I had a rump steak - cooked how I like it too!

Old dated pub and on occasion I went there it was full of drunk blokes with an attitude problem. Won't go again.

Ate here on Saturday, food was good. Open Mic night was entertaining last night. Arrived here 20:30 tonight to eat only to find the kitchen already shut! (Advertises food until 9pm!) Disappointing 😞

Good food, lovely bear garden and great value

Visited on 24th may popped in for steak night ended up stopping for music quiz as well ,food was lovely steaks cooked to our preference got chatting to staff and locals who are all very friendly and welcoming went back following evening to participate in Open Mic Night .. great atmosphere WILL be back

Friendly pub that we popped into to have a pint under new management, there really friendly and welcoming. Nice beer garden. This will be a little gem.

Good beer, sad a neighbour, one person has stopped live music. Really messes with what has always been a band pub.

Appears to be a very much a local pub with the local community at heart. We phoned ahead to check they did meals and upon arrival the staff were involved with a local charity event but still found time to make us feel welcome and although the full menu was not available for very obvious reasons they still managed to provide a basket meals. Good beers also on offer. Can't fault and have no hesitation in giving 5*

Decided to give this lovely looking pub a chance. Despite being told otherwise by some of the locals. So popped in on a Saturday night with the intention of having food and drinks. The pub seemed fairly busy. It must have been a youth club night or someone’s 18th birthday as there were a lot of younger people in the pub. When we arrived we went to the bar to order our drinks and and ask for a menu. We were told by the very young barmaid that the kitchen was closed and she was the only staff member on-site. We did feel it was a little unfair to leave this poor young girl on her own in a busy pub. There should’ve been more staff on to help her.

Disappointed. Kitchen is always closed and can never get food here. Also seems to be run by a girl who looks no older than 16. Not the pub it used to be.

Disappointed that, in spite of our higher than the UK Covid infection rates here, no masks were worn. The beer garden needs a lot of attention.

Excellent Sunday lunch they offer large or small and all fresh too. Beef cooked perfectly Lamb was to die for and they allow dogs so perfect sunday. Apparently Sunday lunch is quite new for them, I would say well done and will definitely be back thanks all as you offer a friendly service with excellent fresh food.

Fantastic welcome from the lovely young girl from behind the bar who is getting married shortly (good luck to you) food was great hot and very tasty and served in very quick time, had a lovely couple pints of real ale and will be returning soon, well done to all staff at the white lion for making us feel very welcome 😀

Still some Covid restrictions in place but we were made very welcome and so was our dog 🐕

Hands down,best pub in Braunton

Staff (youngsters) didnt have much interest in thier roles or serve, decor a lot to be desired ie ripped carpets. Mens Toilets were dirty, toilet rolls on floor or on window as holder had been rippied from the tiles, u had to walk from the toilet to the wash bowl where the sanitizer bottle was empty with no hand towels, Will i visit again, Emphatic No.

Food ok I suppose but far too many people flouting the covid rules and very drunk and rowdy. I certainly won't be going again

Back to being a welcoming pub. Need to sort out the range of ales but times are hard to be fair. Every expectation that, with the present team, this place will be rocking again... Update: Dec 2020. Hosts, Del and Ant have done a great job bringing this pub back to life... above average pub food and a wide menu. Good selection of ales (although pub chains are limiting supplies at the Covid-uncertain time). Atmosphere is great, social distancing and hygiene regs are being dutifully observed, and it is a great place to be.

Went for tapas night on a Friday. Ordered everything off the menu! Fabulous authentic tapas, squid, green beans, patatas bravas etc. Washed down with the local ale. Friendly staff and nice beer garden. Inexpensive for location and child friendly. £105 for a tapas meal for six including two rounds of drinks.

Everything about this place is great

In Braunton in a rented house with our large family for the week in the May half term, after ringing other pubs in the area none were serving food (even though they advertised in the high street) apart from 1 who had a curry night on, we called the white lion, told us to come down, the menu was basic but the food was outstanding as were the drinks, the staff were polite and outgoing, we all enjoyed our time there, and would recommend this place, no frills here, but just good value for money and exallent customer service. Thank you

Odd decoration, proper locals pub feel. One of those establishments you walk into and the bartender immediately pulls you a trial glass of each ale on tap.

Good selection of real ales and a landlord that knows how to keep them.

Went in with friends for drinks 1 wine, me and another had 2 kinds of whiskey and enjoyed ourselves with a pack of scampi fries. A lovley lil pub doing very well #tradition.

This place has Great service and friendly staff who were extremely helpful. Dogs are welcome and the large beer garden was rather peaceful. The food was amazing and I can't wait to come back. 😆

Delicious Thai food cooked here now. It's cooked in a very traditional Thai street style. Everything is cooked individually with very fresh ingredients.
