The White Horse Inn in Maldon

Just left from a night’s stay - room was lovely - clean and decorated beautifully- the young man who showed us to the room explained everything to us about coming back late and breakfast and he carried my bags! Lovely welcome - really friendly staff. Breakfast looked amazing - love the decor of the pub and the abundance of plants. Wonderful pub - so pleased we got to stay there.

Had lunch here today, great food, lovely staff, so friendly...nothing too much trouble. We would recommend 100%.

We had booked a table for a 1 pm Sunday lunch, at the White Horse 5 days ago. We arrived a little early at 12.55, and could see they were busy. We attract the attention of a young server, who found our booking and marked it off. Then showed us to a table for two. We then waited 20 mins for someone to bring us a menu and we ordered two drinks. The drinks duly arrived, one was fine the other wasn't what had been ordered, an honest mistake by the server, which he quickly tried to put right. Unfortunately the taste of the replacement wasn't what was expected. Our roast lunch order was taken, at 1.33pm. Unfortunately the manager then asked us to leave as we were not happy and causing them problems. Then accused us of not booking and just sitting on a reserved table. I paid for our drinks, even the replacement drink that I personally didn't like. Then we left, both hungry and very disappointed and quite annoyed at the very poor customer service for the manager. Very unfortunate really as I had highly recommended the food to my father who is currently visiting from Canada

We visit here a lot and we always receive a warm and friendly welcome. The staff are lovely and the food is amazing. I would highly recommend the white horse in Maldon !

Popped in for a drink on Sunday as was in the area. Not a pub for bitter drinkers, only saw one on tap. Good selection otherwise. Shared a large Sunday Roast which was plenty for both of us, could certainly recommend the food, it was excellent. The venue was very clean and tastefully decorated and the staff were friendly.

Had a fantastic stay here, food is superb, nice cozy rooms, we had a pet room and it was a really good size. Cannot fault the service and how attentive the staff are here, Isaac in particular can't do enough for you, what a credit to the company he is! Superb thank you guys we will definitely be returning.

Lovely place, it's where we go when we want a quick bite to eat. Fantastic pie, excellent service and beautiful inside. Love this place, brilliant Espresso martini made by a young lad that wasn't even working today. Young girl behind the bar is always working when we go in and she is always polite, professional and friendly!

Second night sat in the White Horse Maldon. Great food again , great service and a killer soundtrack. Well done again guys.

Best place to stay after a long tour

We arrived on busy Sunday lunchtime (without pre-booking) hoping for roast lunch..we had our elderly doggie in her pushchair - pub was very busy but the team couldn’t have been more welcoming. Gave us a table with room to accommodate our doggie pushchair and we didn’t feel ‘in the way’ at all…we both had roast beef dinner, unfortunately they’d run out of cauliflower cheese but gave us extra potatoes & veg, everything was really delicious and hot! We will definitely be returning - so good to see a local pub so busy…but not in least bit surprised as they are so friendly & offer delicious food…thanks White Horse Team, keep up the great work - we look forward to returning soon 😊

We had a late lunch. Wasn't busy. Great in the summer as the garden had plenty of sun exposure. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Best cocktails I've ever had in an Essex pub and reasonably priced. Food was tasty and good options available. Highly recommend to check the specials menu as well.

Hotel booked in the morning for the evening for my son. An hour after attacks on the SNCF network which prevented him from traveling to England. The hotel exceptionally refuses to refund the room even though I request a cancellation immediately and I have therefore not penalized anyone for another reservation. No commercial sense!

Popped in for a drink, barman Very helpful. Pleasant inside will call in again.

Only 1 relatively expensive ale on offer which was disappointing for a Saturday lunchtime. Not sure it wants to be a pub, restaurant or cafe. Trying to be all things and possibly not hitting the mark. Very nice decor and good service however.

Really nicely done inside, outside seating areas. Interesting selection of beers, will be back.

This place came highly recommended for food and my friend was delighted with her salad which was generous and with various elements. I did not stay in the hotel.

Lovely rooms above the pub. Tastefully decorated. My only complaint about the room is that there is no shelf in the bathroom to put toiletries or makeup. A very cheap and easy fix to install a small shelf above the sink. We had a pleasant breakfast. Lots of hot choices. No juices out or offered at time of ordering food. Definitely value for money when we stayed. No on site parking but there is a carpark behind that is not expensive.

Literally just sitting in here eating Sunday lunch. We'd been to several pubs on our way into Maldon and then from the lower high street....all either full or dogs not welcome. We walked in the door of the White Horse to be greeted by a bunch of smiling faces and lovely staff who warmly welcomed our dogs. The table we were given was booked for a later time but we were allowed to use it. We ordered the 2 roasts we'd really been looking forward to. Absolutely delicious (thank you to the Chef!)!! Proper home cooked type food served by smiley helpful waiting staff. Just awaiting our puds and sat here feeling really grateful to have found this great place. Feel really comfortable and at home in here. Totally recommend this pub and will definitely visit again when we're back down this way. Thanks guys ♥️😍♥️😍♥️

Very cosy gastro pub. Ordered hot drinks which were great to warm us up,friendly staff and beautiful surroundings. Nestled nicely in Maldon High Street. The food menu is varied,we will definitely be back to eat.

Lovely room, lovely pub, lovely little touches like the robes and perfect location however the shower didn't work properly (Cleaner said she staff were aware, why advertise the room?) and I'm massively disappointed that I left my charger in the room, I know I definitely left it there because I had it ready to go. When I got home and phoned up to put it aside for me to collect it had miraculously gone missing... I know it was the cleaner. As a 'good will' they said they had a spare one for me to collect so I drove all the way back for them to give me a broken charger (more likely the lady's charger she had exchanged with mine) 😆 Anyway the room was lovely and clean and the breakfast was beautiful but the prices were too steep for me to dine in the pub for dinner.

Nice pub right on the high street. Large menu and food was good. Dog friendly and room was huge. No parking sadly.

Went today for Sunday roast and was by far one of the best roasts I have ever eaten! Service was amazing and really enjoyed the atmosphere (even if it is a little too early for Christmas music...) ;) the staff were attentive and will definitely be coming again for a visit very soon!!!

What a welcome we received here. Clean rooms with heating that you control. Bright and airy and comfy king size beds. Food was exceptional with a great choice of beers, wines and spirits. Staff were out of this world helpful and friendly. What more could you ask for? Well, there was the lovely full English for a starter...

Great drink, fabulous food and lovely service: certainly worth a visit / revisit!

We stopped by for dinner on our way home from an afternoon of swimming. I must say, I was initially hesitant because I hadn't heard anything about the pub, but it's been on our list to try since recently moving to Maldon. Hugely impressed and so pleased we took a chance. Wonderful food, fresh, home made,thank you chef!! A lovely ambience. Fantastic service from the whole team. We will be back and will be sure to tell everyone I can about it. Well done, guys!
