Sark Restaurant in Maldon

10/10. The food was perfect and the Manager Turgot went above any beyond to give us great service.

Friday night, the food was great, service could have been better.

We visited for the first time today and had the 2 course lunch deal. I thought the restaurant looked great and the menu choices were good with a nice range of meat, fish and vegetable dishes. Service was attentive and very quick, and I liked that Efes beer was on draught. The food was fresh, plentiful and very tasty, I also thought the 2 courses were excellent value. We really enjoyed our meal and it was nice that the the staff took the time to interact with our baby daughter. We look forward to our next visit and the deliciously strong Turkish coffee made an excellent finish to our time here.

Absolutely love this restaurant. My partner had been before with our 2 young daughters (7 and 4 years) and his parents and he raved about it. So we returned on his recommendation. He was right, it is a lovely restaurant with excellent service and attentive staff. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the whole place was clean and airy with beautiful decor. I had a pina colada to drink, babaganoush with lovely fresh bread for starter and a spiced chicken wrap style main course. All my choices were great and very tasty. My partner had the feta rolled in filo pastry starter, a mixed fish casserol and an effy beer, his food certainly looked lovely and he confirmed it was delicious. The portions are quite large and the pina colada was quite filling too, so maybe next time we visit I'll have the cocktail as a dessert.

Great restaurant, food was cooked to perfection, excellent seasoning and flavours. Service was friendly, funny and exactly how you would expect! Had a great meal out thank you.

Best thing about this meal was the wine. The food was overcooked and meat chewy and the service was poor which was very disappointing as this was our first visit and the restaurant did not live up to the ratings it has.

It is definitely among the places I would recommend. The employees are very friendly and very interested. The food and treats are very delicious. They didn't give us the chance to try any other venues during this week. Such a successful place :)

We enjoyed the lunchtime menu here and found it to be excellent value for money, great food, and excellent service. The lunchtime 2 course for £11.95 runs from 11am to 4pm (I think) and is an incredibly generous deal. The portions appeared small but were perfectly filling. The staff made a fuss of our daughter, and we very well looked-after. The food was a little slow to arrive, but it was fresh and looked great, so who cares. We will definitely be back for lunch again, I highly recommend.

We usually come here often. A bit disappointed today as the rice served at 12 was lumpy which indicates its previous days. Lamb ribs were very dry. A bit disappointing as this isn't the usual standard they serve.

The lunch menu is two courses for £13 pp. Not a massive amount of options but all looked good. What we had was tasty and the sizes were pretty big. Nicely decorated inside and looks modern.

We had a lovely meal, wonderful, knowledgeable staff. My husband had lamb shank & said it was the best he's had in a long time. Shame there was so much food that we couldn't eat it all.

My friend and I had sea breams for lunch, the fish is so fresh! Generous portions, comfortable seating, friendly waiters and waitresses. If you go during lunch time , it's a special price for two courses!

Had lunch there yesterday I had swordfish it was fresh and so delicious and delicate with rice and salad great lunch

The cuisine was acceptable, not extraordinary but also not subpar. My main concern arose with the inclusion of a 12.5% service charge on the bill for our party of four. Such charges might be typical in the heart of London, yet in Maldon, it felt somewhat misplaced especially considering nobody asked how our food was.

Won't bother returning ! The manager is rude, slow service despite it being quiet. Had to ask for table to be cleared, dessert was just put amongst the finished main course. The food was OK but overpriced. Sides are tiny and expensive.

Came for Valentine's Day and had the best service we could ask for, decoration, a singer and even got a dance from the staff when coming to our table and a heart balloon! The food was excellent and so was the cocktails, and the staff were all very friendly, polite and welcoming. Really made our night

Incredible treatment if the guests and customers, we had an absolute wonderful time in a peacful environment for my dad’s birthday. We were given alot of free stuff from the owners and the waiters were wonderful. The food was great and so filling

Very poor service. Added extra meal onto the bill. Charge you with olives when didn’t ask for them. Very very rude. Shame as the food was amazing! Be careful when visiting they don’t try to be cheeky and add extras onto your bill!

Went there on Saturday night for a birthday meal. 12 people in our party. The service was appalling. The drinks were half served with members of the party waiting 20 minutes. They forgot two starters and the service in general was terrible. The food was no more than average . Will not be going back.

Been here a couple of times and definitely my favourite place to eat out in Maldon. Food is so flavourful, especially the kebabs with the smokey charcoal taste. Service is amazing and you feel really valued as a customer even when they are busy. If you live further out, it's definitely worth the journey.

The ambience, the decor, the music: it's simply stunning. The food in itself was piping hot with generous portions no-one could finish and my lamb sarma beyti was dripping with sauce and cheese. It was so rich and filling and I loved it!! I highly recommend if you're in need of a good quality restaurant around here. Only gripe would be that the soft drinks came half empty which seemed to be a shame.

12.5% service charge...... for what!!!!! quietly slipped onto the bottom of the bill irespective whether the service was good bad or indifferent. Why not let the customers decide.......

Came here for lunch, and I'd definitely recommend it. The atmosphere was stylish, service was very quick and relaxed. The food was fantastic and a good price. I had the babaganoush and lamb shish kebab. Both tasted great and the portion was just right for an indulgent lunch. 5*

Food portion sizes are huge. The staff were lovely and yet again a lovely time had by all.

First meal from Sark, order taken promptly, polite staff, food prepared quickly, food was hot throughout, lots of it, quality meat, taste absolutely superb, we will be back!

Went there for the very first time to celebrate my daughters birthday. The service was really good and the food was really nice and good portion size. The only let down was the service towards the end of the evening as we kept having to flag the waiter/ waitress down to ask for desserts and to pay the bill. It might’ve been because they were busy but it didn’t look very busy in the restaurant as wasn’t full. Would definitely go back again though as the food was nice.

Regularly go here, Sami, Turgo and the whole team are always great! The food is fresh and delicious. The atmosphere is always brilliant and it’s well done inside. Good food marred by indifferent service. Manager in purple shirt was barely polite and drinking wine at the counter. Hardly what you expect. No one bothered to ask if we wanted anything else and if the food was OK. No acknowledgement when we left,just walked pass us as if we were invisible.

First visit to Maldon for years, what a busy town and Sark is a gem. Calamari starter, moussaka and beef shish kebab and a couple drinks. Meals are very large and tasty.

Really busy restaurant but the staff are on the ball to make sure the customers receive good seevice. The food was very good but could have been a bit hotter.

From previous visits here we had a quite a nice experience. However our most recent visit was extremely disappointing. Staff unwelcoming as entered restaurant, whilst there and throughout, some staff standing around either chatting to one another or yawning whilst leaning over counters. Very un attentive staff, had to keep calling over to them or keep your hand up until you were noticed. This baring in mind we were one of only two other tables whilst dining. The one cocktail we tried very disappointing one virgin one alcoholic of which could not tell the difference between as could barely taste any alcohol. Desert arrived frozen solid with ice chunks within it. Ladies toilets although smelt clean looked as though they hadn’t been cleaned for several weeks, cobwebs everywhere dirty floors. Main meals ok, big portions which is nice, however disappointing starters, not exactly authentic. 1*

Superb lunch here £10 for 2 courses. Incredible food, chicken shish was so delicious and juicy. Thoroughly recommend anyone else to visit.

Went for my mums 54th birthday and honestly had an amazing time. The food was great, and the restaurant was beautiful. If you like taking pictures this will be the spot for you, we got some amazing family photos!

We went for a birthday, bit slow with the drinks especially cocktails (seems they wait for a few cocktail orders before they do them 🙈) Food was OK, but didn't make up for the price they charge, rather have a takeaway for more, better and cheaper

I have now been twice to sark in its new premises. The food both times has been very nice and prompt. However, the first time I went I was stuck so far into a corner I had to ask someone to move so I could leave, and in addition pass plates to the waiters since they couldn’t reach! And then today the service was miserable, majority of the staff seemed genuinely miserable. We were half way through our starters and were told “I need to take your plates away because your mains are ready”, we then had to eat the rest of our starters with no plate and then alongside our main. Personally I have never had this anywhere before. The two stars I have given are for the quality of food, I would give 0 stars for service. I am very reluctant to go back.

Upon arriving we were shown to our table for a lunchtime meal. We were approached quickly to order a drink and supplied with menus. We decided on having something from the lunchtime menu which was a 2 course offer for £9.99. We were served our drinks along with Turkish bread with a chilli and garlic dips. My wife started with aubergine and I decided on the vine leaves. Both were presented very nicely and again both were tasty. The main was an easy choice for me as I had their lamb shank and my wife had the chicken shish. Both were presented very nicely and came with rice and a salad. We declined having deserts due to the fact we had stuffed our stomachs sufficiently enough. Worth and visit in my opinion and I would expect another one to be following soon.

Fabulous food, impeccable service. Returned for 2nd time this week with my two sons, one is visiting from Canada and he loved it. Again the food did not disappoint and what we couldn't eat the restaurant kindly boxed it up and we brought it home. Superb service 👍

Great service and sat down quickly. Explained the menu and how the dishes were served. The cocktails We’re a nice strength and lovely taste. The General manager Mr Turgo was very nice and welcoming he was always seeing our table and checking we had everything, which made it perfect. A nice and comfortable atmosphere and well recommend 👍

Lovely decor, great service, good location in high street too. Downside didn't rate my dish but went as a big group and everyone else's looked good

What a great restaurant. Not just great food and great staff but they went beyond when I left my wallet and they fund it, posted it to me without any hassle. I can not recommend them more highly and a massive thanks to them for sending my wallet

Went in for lunch and there was as no lunch deal menu on the table so had to ask for it which they didn’t seam to like. Then we asked for tap water and the waiter just made a weird noise and walked off. The food was pretty average and portions quite small. Think they need to learn some customer service

Went for lunch. Pleasant, helpful staff. Food was wonderful. Good variety of Turkish/Mediterranean foods which were very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend a visit if in the area. We have been to the Sark before, and it's better than we remember it. We will certainly be returning.

This is a must go to in Maldon. Great with children as well. Order the mixed grill for 2 and just enjoy the night or go in for a really very very good lunch.

I am a regular visitor to Sark. I am fussy about where I eat out,Sark ticks all my boxes

The starter was amazing, but the meat for the main wasn't great for the price. Couldn't tell if it was a lamb kofta or shish I was eating? If kofta, it was over priced. If shish, it was mushy. Great service though.

Went for a mid week dinner with a mate had the mixed grill for two meal absolutely cracking food throughly enjoyed it highly recommend

Went done mid week and had the lunch menu. Crazy value for money and great food too. £10 at the moment gets you two courses and the beer comes in at a very fair £5.50 a pint.

This is a truly amazing place to eat. You will come away totally full. When seated you are given complimentary bread and dips. We went as a couple, I recommend the "spicy sausage" and "breaded mushrooms" for starter. Mains "shish kebab" and "combination kebab". This comes with rice and bowl of mixed dressed salad. We just had enough room for few scoops of specially flavoured ice cream. Wow you won't be disappointed. Sorry no pics couldn't wait to tuck in !!!

Very nice decoration, lovely staff. Food was good, had better mind, and a little pricey compared to other Turkish restaurants I've been to. But id definitely go again, as long as I leave with a full belly and can barely walk I'm happy and did so here.

The first time here, we had lamb chops and chicken kebab. To be honest, we were a little disappointed in the food, a little expensive for what it was and didn't taste wow. The salad was nice though. We won't be returning. Sorry.

Food was great but the service was absolutly shocking. If you want a good meal go here but be expected to be treated awfully. Customer sevice is not their strong point.

Got this suggested by a good friend. Turned up early with the hope of having a drink before in the cocktail bar. However was quickly ushered to our table. Then got badgered for orders at least 7 times before we were finally ready . The food was good, but not amazing. Half way through the meal they turned the music up so much we could barely hear. We gave up and went to the rose and crown for further drinks. The cost does not match the hospitality.
