Nice pub for a drink! The garden needs a bit of TLC but the service is great!

We had a wonderful time at the White Horse Pub today. Best roast we've had for ages, great atmosphere and the staff to a liking to Barney our dog. (He loved his biscuits). Will definitely be returning. Thank you.

We kept coming back! Stayed in Chilham for a long weekend and this pub is not only the heart of the community but delivers great pub food, high quality drinks range and excellent service. It’s a fun place to be with people rom all walks of life and great music. Sunday roast was an absolute 10. Book a table and schedule when you want to eat to get the best experience, but golden hour in the front var with Coltthe pub husky asleep at your feet, wow. Dog friendly, diverse and welcoming, high quality ales and wines, excellent food, great atmosphere.

Lovely cozy, homely place, very welcoming staff. Good smell of a wood fire, nice ales at a great price.

Music nights are full of tallent from al walks. Easy going,great landlord, great pub.

Lovely dinner in there today as always. Top notch roast. Great landlord and staff, they accommodate to all requests. Check out the huge fireplace you won't want to leave the place. Great bands and music play there and even better that it's haunted

Really disappointed to be given margarine in the starter after the menu stated 'butter' and I told the very kind server I have an intolerance to margarine. Food otherwise was fine. Server was great, Colt the dog is wonderful. Just please people, seriously take intolerances and allergies seriously.

Absolutely lovely pub, always a warm welcome, set in a quaint village. Would totally recommend dining and drinking here you will not be disappointed 😊

Amazing pub in a gorgeous setting. We highly recommend the food, at such reasonable prices too. The staff are fantastic & we have seen live music to a very high standard, every time we have been there. Highly recommended. A wonderful (massive!) open fire too and great selection of drinks.

Very welcoming and friendly pub. Myself and my partner ended up here after a long walk and it was the perfect end to our day. We had a lovely meal too, would highly recommend!

Absolutely charming pub. All you want for a Sunday afternoon really: a great big fire, cosy nooks, friendly staff and an 10/10 roast. Food was exceptional, out party had one each of chicken, pork and lamb roast and were super impressed. Very tasty, good portions and all the trimmings. Would deffo recommend!

A lovely place. To be greeted by a roaring log fire on a wet and windy day was a treat. Great food. Friendly and welcoming staff.

Do not pass this pub by if you can stop for lunch/dinner it's a must. Host was so lovely it was quiet for a Monday but food great 👍

I absolutely loved this pub. We arrived in the village after a 4 hour hike wanting a cosy place to rest and recuperate and boy did this place deliver. Just big enough that there are various nooks to relax in but small enough to have instant atmosphere when you walk in. A giant log fireplace in the back dining room is really special and all the staff are super friendly and keen to help. We had the Fish and Chips which were excellent with really substantial portions. I'm so glad we picked this pub.

We stayed up the road from this lovely, old and quirky village pub. The food was amazing and the service excellent. We couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome and didnt feel out of place there with the locals. The lady behind the bar in particular was so friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough for you. We would highly recommend this pub either for a drink or to eat if you are staying in the area.

You have to go here! The town square is charming and the Inn has lovely ambiance and food. Lots of locals and everyone was welcoming. We had salad, soup, onion rings and stick toffee pudding. Yum!

Nice little pub in the middle of a charming village (too bad the castle can't be visited) The service is pleasant, the dishes arrive quickly. The decor is superb. Incredible atmosphere. Books everywhere to read while waiting. However, when it comes to cooking, there is a problem. It's not bad far from it, but either it's too expensive for the quality, or it's too low quality for the price. In short, not unforgettable. But the warm atmosphere and welcome allow you to get over all that.

It was a lovely eclectic old pub with plenty of character. The live music was a bit loud so if you're sensitive bring earplugs or you could sit outside. There is a beer garden available at the back. The place was busy but clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was amazing 👏. It is dog friendly with a local doggy resident wandering around.

No Ale, despite four pumps (all off). Mrs Jona got an Aperol Spritz and we were both surprised to be charged £14.40 for one drink. I am not coming here again and suggest you don't either. Spoilt our day in Chilham, rip off.

The best pub I've ever been to and I am not ashamed to admit that I have been to quite a few:) There is always a risk when visiting a "local" pub in the small village that you feel out of place. Was totally opposite. On the first visit felt like I've been coming there for decades. Ticked all of the boxes of what a geat pub should be. History and most amazing setting, cozy, great selection of drinks and food, friendly and attentive staff. Not tried the food, but couple we met at the B&B mentioned that was reasonably priced and very tasty.

We were disappointed ☹️ with the food a lot of money for very little food when ordering a baguette I expected to get a whole baguette instead we only got one half never have I ever before just got one half. For this the price was outrageous. This was a birthday surprise lunch never will we go back.

Great "local", wish I was just a little more local so I didn't have to drive home. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. 👌

Just had drinks so can't say anything about the food. This ancient pub is in the Village of Chilham. Very oldy worldy with a lovely fire place that had some logs crackling and burning when I visited. They gave live music on some days. There is nearby parking so not very far to walk.

We enjoyed a very pleasant pub lunch including delicious loaded chips with bacon and melting Brie cheese. Very friendly publican Reasonable prices Nice atmosphere Lovely little village square We will be back👍🏻

Amazing 16th century pub with character. Very good food generously portioned with vegetarian and vegan options. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is a wide selection of wines, beers, and spirits. The landlord is a larger than life character who may have escaped the pages of Rabelais or Chaucer and knocked about with Bertie Wooster for a time. The pub can get lively in the evenings especially at weekends and frequently hosts excellent live music acts.

Nestled in the beautiful village of Chilham, The White Horse is a wonderfully colourful and welcoming pub! Staff were friendly and the pub itself an absolute treasure trove of curiosities - the resident pub dog is adorable and doggy friends are welcomed with a biscuit. The menu is extensive, catering to all ages and tastes, the portions generous and the prices very reasonable. Service was efficient and staff happy to help with any requests. We cannot recommend The White Horse enough whether is a winter's day sat by the open fire or a sunny day in July relaxing in the beer garden. If you're looking for the perfect country pub, the White Horse is a must!

Booked there for evening entertainment ,owners and bar staff all out there head on drugs mainly cocaine especially the man with the Black greasy hair believe the land lord , toilets are disgusting , Food scampi and chips is all Cooked from a air fryer vile would not recommend this pub to any body

A lovely old village pub in a beautiful village square. Just had a fresh paint job which looks lovely. We were severed by friendly and helpful staff who couldn’t do enough for us. Food was reasonably priced a good selection on menu. Highly recommend. A great find!

Nice open fire, reasonable beer, strange & strong taste of cloves to the red cabbage and tough suet pudding (microwaved?).

After a long journey to Dover castle and Canterbury we had a relaxing and enjoyable dinner at White Horse Chilham. The atmosphere is very cosy and quirky, the fire place is so nice, Colt the mighty dog just added to whole cosines. We had delicious calamari starter and Fish and chips. Paul and Jess were friendly and very welcoming.

All good except the fire was smoking and making our eyes run. Didn't spoil the enjoyment of the food though. Delishous, and a great English pub.

Cyclists - steer clear. Cycling through Chilham, I was caught in a rain shower. As the White Horse was opening it's doors as I was passing, I gently asked a member of staff if I could possibly have a tissue or piece of toilet paper to wipe my glasses before I ordered a coffee or tea. The curt reply was 'No' with advice to find some public toilets. How charming.

Beautiful location, cosy front room feel, dog friendly, none of this, (that's what they charge in London attitude).

Open mic night at The White Horse and it was great. The atmosphere was super friendly. Has a typical friendly village feel to the place and the staff were excellent. Will try the food next time I'm there.

Went here for a meal on new year's eve (have done this before with no issues) and felt rushed and not welcome by one particular member of staff. Our table was booked for 7pm yet we arrived early for drinks. We were seen to our table and presented with menus as soon as we sat down to be told the kitchen closes at 7pm. Needless to say we had actually finished our meal by 7.04. The food was ok but not piping hot. When requesting dessert we were told the kitchen was closed and were then made to feel we were inconveniencing them by requesting another course. Having told the waiter we felt rushed, his answer was "well I'm not the chef!!". As a result, we paid up and left despite our plan being to stay there to see in the new year. We will not be returning which is such a shame as its a lovely pub with a lot of potential. Very disappointed and a sour end to 2023.

The most friendly pub I’ve ever given my custom, you feel like a regular the moment you walk in, food is great, village atmosphere is cozy and friendly, and there’s not a place I’d rather stay.

Wir waren an einem Freitagabend in diesem Pub um noch 1-2 Pint zu trinken. Die gemütliche Atmosphäre hat uns sofort beeindruckt. Der Service war sehr nett und sehr schnell. Zudem gab es auch Live-Musik (Jazz). Sehr unterhaltsam, jedoch nicht zu laut. Die Getränkeauswahl hat bei uns keine Wünsche offengelassen. Alles in Allem ein schöner Abend. Wir werden den Pub auf jeden Fall wieder besuchen.

Quirky local pub off a picturesque town square. The place is full of books and odd little decorations, in a good way (it's a great if only a little random book selection). The staff was super friendly and service was quick, given how busy it was. The food was nice too and very filling. Price was reasonable - we paid £35 each for main, dessert and a couple of drinks. There are two friendly pub dogs who roam around. Customers were nice too - one of them even got the whole pub to sing my boyfriend happy birthday.

This was a lovely pub we found for dinner just outside of Canterbury. The team were so welcoming, the pub was really lovely and the food very yummy! We also dined with the super fluffy and friendly Colt which was a great addition to our experience 🙂

Stopped off for a quick pint. Lovely quaint old pub with many nooks and crannies. Lots of books, objects and ephemera. Large fireplace must be very cosy in the winter. Friendly service. Food and good selection of ales avaliable. I enjoyed a pint of Timothy Taylor.

Very lively and popular local pub in a fantastic setting. Dog friendly. Compact with small tables inside but a beer garden with more space. Only one non-alcoholic lager (no non-alcohol or low-alcohol beers). Good food. Very slow service at the bar. Hot and sticky inside on a hot day but plenty of outside seating. Plenty of parking in the village car park.

Very quiet on a Tuesday afternoon. We were only customers for quite a time but it is a lovely pub with a good aspect and friendly staff.

Typical local pub. Loved it. Great atmosphere and service was served with a smile. Friendly staff and very professional. Looks like I will be going back as they have bands on a regular basis. Small beer garden round the back but big enough for about 20 people.

The perfect hidden away country boozer. Idyllic location, great beers and wines, a perfect dog, the wolf-like Colt, and fabulous music - Velvet Underground when we walked in last week. Great conversation from those friendly folks lucky enough to live nearby. A total gem.

Service is spot on, beer well kept and the music was well worth the journey.

I’m a taxi driver. I often take people into this place for lunch. I’ve taken a Canadian couple in there on the 13/06/23 around 17:30. Nobody was at the bar. So we helped ourselves to a table. A guy walked Upto us and asked whether you’ve a table booked? We said we’re only here for a drink. He asked the Canadian couple what they would like to drink? When they placed the order, he completely ignored me and served them the drinks. Then my passenger asked the man to take my order. I’ve asked him for a coffee. He said we don’t have any hot drinks. Then I asked for a coke. I’m pretty sure he ignored me because I was an Asian. My passengers said you shouldn’t come here again. They’ve witnessed the whole drama. I was very disappointed by the act.

Definitely recommend Great food , friendly staff. Had Sunday roast today.... compliments to the chef, Tasted great , plenty of it but not too much. Live music made a nice change for a lunchtime.

The White Horse in chillam, if you are a tourist looking for a real traditional English pub this is it. A fantastic unspoiled pub in a beautiful Kent Village. A warm friendly welcome, most importantly well kept, good quality hand pulled cask conditioned real ale, they also serve excellent pub food. It's very rare I give a pub five stars but this is one of them, (my equivalent of bake offs Hollywood handshake). A picture i took back in 1987. Highly recommended

Fabulous old pub. We only drank here but they do food as well. Laid back and friendly with huge amounts of character.

An utterly phenomenal experience. As you walk in you brought into, not only, a warm encapsulated and untouched part of historical Chilham that hits the senses, but a beautiful warm and friendly pub. The staff were beyond helpful and friendly and the Landlord has not only has a smile but also everything calmly under control (along with some interesting history about Chilham itself, to go with the many pictures and beautiful decor of the surroundings). The food is utterly mouthwatering and there were exciting vegetarian/vegan options available for our party. Dogs are more than welcome too, and there is fantastic live music on certain days too! I would recommend a visit to anyone.

The atmosphere in this pub is lovely - very cosy! There was live music and a very welcoming service by the main host - the owner’s husky 🐕 who keeps you company while you eat. And most importantly, the food was tasty - real gem this place!

Unexpected drop in in a recommendation. Absolutely loved it live music with a good food and drink selection with a proper landlord roaming and up for a chat.

Really good burgers that didn't scrimp on the side salad or the chips (and I have been to a pub that charged more for just the burger !) My friend had the cod goujon burger and I the bbq pulled pork. Both excellent and helped by a very tasty beer. Thanks Sorry to the pub dog - no leftovers !
