The food was excellent and great value. It was mid afternoon so very quiet, but that suited us fine.

Staff are great. Food is ok. Stella Artois is amazing.

Popular pub.Food always good,sometimes long wait at the bar for drinks as food orders take priority UPDATE Visited this week, not busy lots of empty tables. Ordered a curry plus the gammon and chips. No pineapple available as per menu to go with the gammon, substitute half a tomato. The curry came without the advertised accompanyments. No mango chutney or yogurt dressing. The food was all luke warm, but as hungry finished meal. Server did eventually ask if I wanted it reheating but tbh food should never leave the kitchen at this temperature.

Came in for a late tea and everything was excellent! The team mentioned there was a bit of a wait for food, but it barely felt like any at all. The food was delicious, highly recommend the curry house platter and the giant gyros! Both delicious and plenty! Thank you to the team working, amazing!

Really nice food, atmosphere was great, staff were sound. Only warning I'd say is watch the tikka massala, it was lovely but with it having red and green chilli's it was definitely spicier than a massala should be! Was great for me but might catch others unawares.

Didn't eat but smelled good. Recently refurbished. Decent seating options. Wheelchair accessable. Good value for money on the drinks. Nice cup of tea.

I went there with my wheelchair bound mother on a Saturday lunchtime and we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. The place is immaculate as it had been fully renovated just a month ago. The menu has lots of choice and the food very good and excellent value. Drinks are reasonably priced. Service was friendly and efficient. Will definitely be going back.

Cheap and cheerful, enjoyed mine meal, salmon on a sizzler bed of vegetables, nice wine, waiter was a trainee but there was nobody there to help him, but he got there in the end.

Waited 40 minutes for food even though not busy. Very much a pop and ping place to eat

Bearded male is friendly in kitchen (new lad from Spoons) & the front of house are absolutely amazing, I can't compliment everybody though.. Others are full of themselves and in positions they shouldn't be.. Ps. In employment & work the kitchen on my own with 5* reviews ✌🏻

Went yesterday evening to the pre opening night and was really impressed with the revamp. The food was good and well presented, the front of house staff, which was made up of a few new comers, mostly college kids doing their first jobs,worked really hard and definitely didn't let themselves down. All in all it was nice evening and I will definitely go back.

After advertising on Internet that the company done Sunday lunch ,booked a table only to be told no Sunday lunch on menu. Very disappointed. BUT lunch was nice .

Family friendly, traditional feel

Ate here yesterday for the first time in a while, used to be very good, however yesterday's visit was very disappointing. New member of staff Shaun, was hard work whilst placing our order, he was more interested in up selling than listening to the customer, ordered 2 mega mixed grills, told Shaun 3 times no tomatoes on either, when he delivered them to the table dropping them onto the table with no ceremony whatsoever, guess what? Tomatoes on both meals, no asking if there was anything else we needed, after eating the meals that both steaks were only just warm on our plates, Shaun came and removed plates again with no ceremony infact he wasn't at all interested, at no point were we approached by him or the shift manager who was either watching an off duty member of staff play the fruit machine or sitting in one of the booths talking, and asked if everything was okay with the meal. The standard of service and care has declined since our previous visits to the point we won't be returning and will also advise others not to bother. We could understand if they were busy but it was a late afternoon meal and the place was really quiet, so there is absolutely no excuse for the poor service.

Popped in on route from a day at Darlington hospital before going home. Read the reviews in the waiting room and decided to visit as the whole family was starving and it was on the way home. Pub car park was empty at 5.30 so it wasn't busy inside there was a few people in and as we sat down to choose what we wanted to eat and drink a few more couples and birthday party rolled in. Good choice of menu and special offers. We went for 2 mains for 11 pounds so we ordered gammon and chips fish and chips scampi and chips and a chicken tikka curry with a round of mixed drinks cider cokes and a pot of tea all came to cost of £38 so good value for money. Service was very slow and when the food arrived it was cold not just one plate every dish was cold we where so hungry we just ate it. The waiter never returned to ask if we wanted any additional sauces or returned mid meal to enquire if everything was okay. We had to look for salt from another table as ours was empty . My daughter said that the warmest thing on her curry was the naan bread. My mother in law gave me half her plate of fish and chips she left as she couldn't eat them cold food and under cooked chips and rock hard peas, my wife had the same issue so I got more extra cold chips and peas. I wasn't impressed with mine as it was cold and never asked if I wanted any additional sauces like mustard so I just used the ketchup on the table to soften the peas and add flavour and later I had egg and chips with lashings of tartare sauce from my donations. My daughter is a trougher like me and just ate hers as she was hungry and I was brought up never to waste food so I am the classic plate cleaner but failed today some chips where so tough I had to leave them. Yes you have to look at the price we paid and if them dishes where piping hot and fresh I think we would be happier and think about coming again. To be fair we have paid more and eaten worse elsewhere but the conversation on the way home we all scored it 14/40 even with a 5 star hygiene rating and unanimous that we won't return again.

Was greeted with a warm friendly member of staff behind the bar, she showed us to our table and explained everything to us, we were able to order at the bar easily even thoe it was quite busy, food came in very good time and was very nice

Half a step up in quality from a Weatherspoons but also slightly more expensive. Main advantage is it's on the edge of town and easier to access by car - but personally I'm not impressed with the car park. It's tight and sloping. Better to park on the (main) roadside nearby.

Lovely pub and great food. Took my daughter and the kids menu is brilliant. Really friendly staff and reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere too.

Good fish and chips and burger.. Very clean and quiet pub suitable for families with small children. Very nice chicken and beef steak. Now deals at 11 pounds two meals very good monday to friday from 12pm.

Food was shocking burnt meat person on my table received their food 30 minuets before I did cold and hot parts on my plate constantly seeing the chef at the bar area while waiting for my food. But the Service was brilliant really attentive. Particular sever called Rio who had an eye for detail and really went above and beyond. Credit to the company.

Food was alright nothing special but service was amazing. Went in on Wednesday and was serviced by one of the lovely bartenders with a buzzcut and glasses. He was very chatty and friendly. Great place all in all

We Stayed here last year Fantastic pub and the food was really good and Fantastic Value Would highly Recommend the Sizzling Breakfast. Great atmosphere lovely decor! We really enjoyed it here.. Can't praise it High Enough i am Flying up on Saturday to Darlington and intend to pop in while i am up From Devon.. Well Done to Staff and the Landlords i rate it 5 Star. 😁😁😁

The atmosphere in the pub is quite good , food should be fresh cooked as a lot of pubs are serving pre cooked food that needs to be varied, lower prices for food and drinks should be lower price in an ideal world too

Stone-cold onion rings and luke-warm chips, gammon and beans. Double burger meat good but overall burger very sloppy to eat - soggy bun. Not one person checked on our food or table. Ordered through the app and seems they want least contact. Fairly cheap menu. You can tell.

Absolutely amazing place inside and out! I really should have visited years ago! It’s like the Tardis inside - huge! Very friendly staff and patrons who even sang Happy Birthday to my friend too! Food and drink was really awesome value for money.

My 2nd visit..took our Auntie there for lunch..staff were so lovely,and friendly. The sizzling chicken was delicious..my Auntie goes with her friend regularly, and recommend it .So glad she did.

It's estimated that 8.5 million people in the UK are "gluten free" and it's very fast-growing. Sadly my son was diagnosed at 23. Trying to find anywhere he can eat is challenging but if the big name restaurants and pubs don't get onboard people will stop visiting. Don't make people feel awkward when choosing a meal, gluten free menus should be readily available, not a hand held being hovered over you. Sadly the choice was very poor but glad to say the meal was edible. On the other hand the burger I chose was shocking... Hard tasteless and less than adequate, at £9. 99 for a stale bruschetta roll, a salad leaf and megre slice of cheese..dry as sticks. How hard can it be to serve food with love and care.

All our guests enjoyed their meals we were served quite quickly and the staff were excellent. The only downside for me personally was the quality of the chicken sizzler with fahitas, the chicken im pretty sure was frozen chicken... certainly not the quality i am used to at a sizzler restaurant, it was rubbery and tasteless and unfortunately i couldnt eat it... my friend was hungry so she did...

Great atmosphere, back of house staff got my order correct as I had dietary requirements, good food good vibes.

Service was great, food came out within 15 mins and was cooked to perfection. Waitress called sarah was polite and bubbly overall good experience.

Food was excellent, piping hot and tasty. Really nice people working here, friendly but not in your face. Nice pub atmosphere but Restaurant part quieter and nice. There were a few small children but were kept occupied with drawing materials etc. So Mam and Dad could enjoy there meal. Nice family atmosphere

The staff were perticularly credible for the great service I had recieved. Jack and Simon took care of me during my time here. I was particularly impressed with the fact that he kept up to these high standards while also training a new starter. We understood she was new and was doing a great job.

Dreadful! Miserable Management reflects on immature inexperienced Bar staff. Poor all round. If you are not happy with your job leave! I've never experienced anything like it Sizzling Pubs sort your management. This is the worst I've ever encountered.

A very down to earth establishment. Staff are friendly and go out of their way to please patrons. In winter it's lovely and warm and in summer it's cool. Food is always piping hot and sizzling dishes are a must especially for hungry working men or the weary traveller.

Food I ordered was incorrect, I was informed the chef was new, however I only ordered a salad and grilled halloumi. When it was brought back it had half the ingredients missing. Certainly won't be rushing back in a hurry.

Good quality food at reasonable prices. If you bank with Halifax, you may have a 10% off with cashback on your banking app. Well worth checking anyway.

Decent food, quick service, no issues.

So much better than the last time we visited. Well done to new kitchen manager and chefs. We had the mixed grill and everything was cooked perfectly. Its not easy in this industry right now so it's lovely to see the kitchen has pulled it together and are smashing it.

Though we would call in , been past this place for years but never called before. Nice pub and the meals were nice. Will call again.
