WOW - we booked in for a meal, and was not expecting what we got. We ordered the "2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £35". It was the most delicious steak meal either of us has ever had - cooked perfectly, and the peppercorn sauce and extras on the plate absolutely delicious. We followed with a sticky toffee pudding - BEST EVER. So obviously home made. The service was excellent and friendly. We are so disappointed that we are only in the area for a week. Thank you White Hart - we haven't stopped raving about you since - much to the annoyance of our family and friends :). See you again.

Style before substance. Booked three rooms. Good welcome. Room looks nice but shower does not work and we see that this was raised months ago in another review but nothing appears to have changed. Comfy bed but tea and coffee facilities useless. Only two tea bags and despite two night stay they were never renewed. Since we were out all day and no one around until after 9.30 it is impossible to speak to anyone. Bath large but plug is in middle do if you sit in the bath the plug empties the water. No full length mirror. Small dressing table space with a mirror but no where to plug in a hair dryer. No hanging space for long dress etc . Toilet seat in friends room (Bewl) loose and dangerous. Evening food ok but breakfast was not available til after 9.30. Did try and have it on second morning to be told only egg on toast available. No fruit juice etc. we stay in around ten pubs every year. This has to be the worst. Looks nice but looks are deceiving.

We stayed 2 nights. Welcome offhand, pub bar sticky and grubby. Room average decor, poorly maintained facilities, no instructions or information whatsoever. We did not want breakfast in pub. The bed, however, was comfortable. The room was not serviced during our stay. It was expensive at £320 for our stay, paid up front. We left at 6.30 am disgusted as worst experience ever encountered in 40 years of staying at this type of pub hotel ever. Guests obviously not their priority.

I have never waked into a pub/bar and be met/greeted with " Do you need the toilet?" . Even my 11 year old was taken back and asked me why do they think we just came in to use their toilet. I as the adult wanted a cocktail and the children soft drinks. Only to find they only do 4 cocktails. A horrible welcome.

With two friends my wife and I were visiting East Sussex and called in at The White Hart in Wadhurst for lunch. We were extremely disappointed - the barman was disinterested, the place stank of stale beer, we sat in the outside rear patio area which was depressingly run down with an old Christmas tree and litter . We ordered food - and what eventually arrived was minute, poorly presented and frankly was not worth the price. We agreed that if say visitors to this country were to stop at this pub they would be sorely disappointed.

Popped in for Sunday lunch with a couple of friends on the offchance there was space. They kindly fitted us in. Dinner was ok, I had the wagyu roast beef - which was ok, and my friends the wagyu burger - I wish I’d had that to be honest. Dessert was much better. I had the ice cream With espresso and a plum liqueur (can’t remember what it was called) - it was delicious - I didn’t really take much notice of my friends puds as I was too interested in mine 🤣🤣🤣🤣. There was certainly no complaints though. Service was great. Happy staff, lovely people at the bar and a very welcoming feeling. Definitely be back for the burger next time.

All four of us had different courses and every one of them were off the scale delicious. The service is superb, they couldn't do enough for us. The wine selection is excellent - unusual wines that are top quality and tailoring for all prices. This knocks the spots off The Bell, The Vineyard, The Lazy Fox and any other restaurant for miles. Staff were friendly, helpful and extremely accommodating to our family of 6, when we booked for Sunday dinner. Several of our family group have allergies and dietary requirements (including, vegan, vegetarian, wheat allergy and severe nut allergy) but they were happy to accommodate us and make adjustments. The food was delicious!!! The portions were a good size, the vegan option was really flavoursome and we all enjoyed our meals. We have children who are autistic and picky eaters but they tried everything on their plates and expressed their want to eat here again (which is a small miracle)! Our servers were lovely, attentive and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. We don't often go out for family meals, because of the issue of food allergies etc, but this is our second time dining here as a family and we definitely need to do it more often.

We attended The White Hart as a party of 2 for lunch on Thursday 12th May 2022 and were warmly greeted by the staff and given the option of indoor or outdoor dining. We sat on the back outdoor patio with pergola and vegetable gardens perfect for a sunny afternoon. The staff are a true credit to this place they were all so friendly and engaging us in hilarious conversation. They were very attentive throughout our stay and we left feeling great. I must also give a shout out to the chef. He has curated a beautiful concise menu championing local produce that is bursting full of flavour. We didn't want the lunch to end as everything was so mouthwateringly good. The lunch set menu is also very affordable making it the perfect option. We tried a number of dishes: Starter: Squid Ink tortellini served with mussles on a bed of samphire in the lightest creamy sauce that was rich in flavour. Mains: Classic fish and chips but upgraded with a unique sophisticated twist on mushy peas. The whole dish was so flavourful and perfectly balanced with the crispy batter and soft flaky cod. Harissa cabbage with aubergine and feta the perfect vegetarian main. Dessert: Classic Affagato White chocolate parfait with poached rhubarb and beetroot crisps. I will definitely return to The White Hart when I am next in Wadhurst!

Spectacular setting floor to ceiling windows overlooking acres of vineyardsJust outside the medieval charming town of Alfriston it is a long drive to Tasting Room - the kind of entry one is used to in the great vineyard restaurants of Adelaide Hills Margaret River in Australia and Franschoek and Stellenbosch in South AfricaWe did feel we were transported to these countries but such good news for UK as there is little in the way of this in Bordeaux To cap it off the food was eclectic and creative - the gazpacho was topped with iberico ham and floating chorizo croquettes - an acknowledgement to this real Spanish dish. The courgette floor as a main was interesting stuffed with buffalo cheese and other accompaniments such a violet artichoke. The three course menu at £37 good value As there are a limited number of tables it is necessary to book well in advance We will nee backThe chef gained Michelin star at his previous restaurant so he comes here with a reputationTo cap it off the sparkling wines are exceptional - elegant and lingering taste
