Nipped in for a quick pint before catching a train. Brilliant little micro pub. Superb beer selection and friendly service.

Slightly older crowd (I’m 30’s) with mostly strong/dark ales on offer. Damp atmosphere. Not for me.

Nice little bar, only a few people in when I visited. Some excellent beers on tap. Will visit again, I believe it's closing for a bit of a revamp.

Great little real ale bar, five handpull of beers ever changing. Cider also available. Only very small, so seating sometimes limited, decent prices & worth a visit, though not open every day & closes early evenings. October 2023 : James the present owner is moving to pastures new and a new owner taking over - so thanks to James and best wishes for his future and let's hope the new owner/barman will continue with the same good beer selection and service! The new boss continues in the same manner, good beer selection and service, same prices - so always worth a visit.

I’m giving it one star for service. There is no atmosphere in the place, uncomfortable seating, just awful. No cash and no receipt. Went there Sunday for the first and last time. Far better pubs and beer In Lichfield.

Really good little micro pub. We had a couple of pints of some interesting beers. Would definitely come back. Just felt it lacked something. Maybe some music, otherwise I would recommend for everyone to come here. It had a very nice crowd in as well.

Gem of a bar, featuring some wonderful beers, if your in Lichfield it’s certainly worth visiting this little independent bar. Beer was first class like the service.

Loved it. It feels so warm and welcoming. I've never been a fan of craft ales, but this place has turned me around to them, the selection is really nice. Highly recommend. Plus it's dog friendly so... 11/10

Brilliant, small bar in town. Great beers on offer. Was served by the owner who was very friendly and also knowledgeable about the beers on offer. Definitely worth visiting.

Have visited the Whippet Inn several times over the past couple of years. A wonderful micropub. Always a terrific selection of real ales, cider and craft ales. Warm, friendly staff and a friendly atmosphere. We'll be back...

Great little place serves beer and cider only accepts card payments which is ok i dont use cash anymore.

Unfortunately we were unable to go through the door with our 7 month old labrador as a small, nasty dog was sitting in the doorway and attacked our dog for no reason at all. Dogs should be kept under control.

Absolutely loved this place, probably my favourite on my recent trip to Lichfield. Good selection of cask (perfectly kept), keg & a very high quality can selection if not a huge list. Very busy, great for dogs. Great watering hole! Would've loved to take the place back home with me!

Lovely friendly atmosphere with great ales

We visited The Whippet Inn Micropub for the first time on a cold bright Sunday 06 March 2022. We had seen it in June 2021 when it was , not surprisingly, closed due to Covid and the lack of space to social distance inside the Whippet Inn. The Whippet is on a corner position with a roughly triangular internal space. The small bar is on the right hand side with a wonderful collection of five real ales on offer. DO NOTE PAYMENT IS CARD ONLY. It is simply furnished but only has limited space ( WhatPub says space for 40 people which would tightly pack the place)! We had a 'beautiful' drink of North Riding Ice Cream ( Chocolate and Vanilla) Porter. Whilst our son had a diet Cola for a very reasonable price. The toilets are to rear of the bar and whilst they are a little 'tight for space' they are clean and well presented. Due to the limited space I would suggest that wheelchair visitors might find it difficult to visit. Whilst we were there a couple of visitors arrived with dogs so it appears to be pet friendly. A great pub for real ale although a bit chilly on our visit , partly due to visitors not closing the door properly. A well deserved Camra Good Beer Guide outlet.

Lovely little place for a drink. Not much room in there but always a decent range of drinks and very friendly staff. Always make sure to stop in and have one when I am around.

Had a rough pint when I took it back was told it was okay (which it clearly wasn't), ended up having to pay for another pint! The place was nice and lively but would never go back due to barman's response. On the very rare occasions I have ever had a drink that was below par it's always been exchanged, can only put it down to he had just changed the barrel.

Unusual selection of gins, and a great selection of beers. You can wait a while to order when it's busy, but a quirky place to stay for an hour or so.

Great little watering hole. Super beers. Needs air to circulate a bit as can get a tad condescension'y.

Quiet enough to be able to hold a conversation, busy enough not to appear deserted.

If you like real ale this is for you. If you don't you'd be better off elsewhere. I love it.

Lively, friendly little place. Popped in for a glass of wine. Free cheeseboard being enjoyed by regulars. Not much space to sit as was rammed to capacity, but that signals its popularity...good natured folk "hodged up" to give us a seat. Will go again, had the feel of the old time in that we all miss.

Amazing little place to have a drink! Such a choice of all different brews. Pop in and try out something different.

I called in, as I do like micropubs, but I was disappointed, the staff were fine, the beer, or the one drink that I had, was O.K. but the customers let the place down. I could not get to the bar as it was surrounded by customers who had bought their drinks and it was their right to stay there and block it others. It was only, after asking and being ignored that I physically pushed in and got served. A notice by the bar asking customers to step away and sit at a table may help, but I will not be going back.
