1 of the best pubs round here.the landlord is really friendly ever since Sean as taken over the place the. Pub seems to be on the up carnt wait for the new renovation as I use this pub at least 6 days out of the 7 they try to cater for all family and kids even if your just on ya own drinking always conversation flowing would definitely rate this place especially now they have a new chef aswell 👍

We had booked for Sunday lunch at 1 o’clock we had to all book in and we we’re shown to our table for six by a one way system by a very friendly waitress/bar staff. She took our drinks and food order and the drinks duly arrived the starters seemed to take ages to come. The main courses took even longer to come but was very nice the only thing I was not happy about was the manger served the main courses and she had no mask or visor from start to finish it took about 2 hours

My first visit here post-lockdown and it was very positive. It was early evening on a Friday. Signage is good, as is availability of sanitiser. Some customers came in through the clearly signed EXIT ONLY door and staff politely explained why the door is an exit only and asked if they would be good enough to follow the one way system next time they came in. Staff were very friendly and really helpful (letting me look at labels on gin bottles to help me decide which one I wanted to try). No drinking at the bar, which means you can actually get to it to buy drinks.

Even though there was a reduced menu some of the food was still unavailable. There were 3 or 4 other clients in the pub max, so not really overly busy at all! After an hour and 15 mins and asking for the 3rd time we were spoken to rudely by the waitress from across the pub “our food is fresh and not cooked in a microwave”! We were annoyed and hungry with kids so asked to cancel our mains, and were then asked by the manager, “did you still want your starters!” There was no apology for the delay in the food, or an explanation as to why there was a delay. At that point we decided we would pay for drinks and leave. They didn’t charge us for drinks however couldn’t wait for us to leave and showed us out to the door. The manager then came out and confronted us on this situation and said it’s not acceptable - again no apologies, or any effort to find out what happened. They definitely favoured the other clients who were either regulars or weren’t Asian! They all got they’re mains before our starters were even started to be cooked.... Our last experience her was a lot nicer.

Very disappointed as had booked a table for two today, for our Wedding Anniversary. Upon arrival at 13.52 for our 14.00 booking, we were told a party of 4 had turned up for an earlier booking, but their party was now a 6. Whereupon, they were given our table to accommodate the extra two who had not booked. Suffice to say we were extremely disappointed not to eat there. We will in future NEVER recommend this pub or visit again. What a shabby way to treat paying customers.

We arrived at the wheel inn at 6.30, there were 5 adults and one three year old, the adults decided what they’d like which were 5 different ‘sizzlers’ I then asked to see the children’s menu which I was informed we don’t have one. I will point out when I booked the meal I made a point of asking if the menus online were up to date as within our party we had a vegetarian, a person with a severe nut allergy and a child. I then had to try and find something to choose for her with luckily they had macaroni cheese on the menu as a side portion. We then ordered at about 6.45, our food arrived nearly an hour later. There was only 3 other tables eating. I asked where our food was and informed it’s coming now. Another 15 minutes later it arrived. Negatives - The lack of apologies for how late the food was (none) We weren’t told how long the wait would be and with a 3 year old this really bothered me. We booked a table so they should of been prepared for this. The fact id rang and asked about the menus before and they were wrong. Wouldn’t of booked if they hadn’t got a children’s menu. We were never asked how the food was otherwise I would have explained before writing this review. Positives- when it arrived the chips and the food was nice. Despite the sizzlers arriving in a dish that was too small to eat with your rice. Really needed an extra plate. Such a shame as we are really local and had family visiting us from Scotland.

We went to the wheel inn as are new to the area. All four of us ordered steak, for the steak night. I had Sirloin, everyone else rump, a family of 4 adults. The bar staff were friendly. The wait for food was a little while but we didn’t mind waiting. The food came out, the chips were amazing, however the steaks were what could only be described as weird. Mine had a white translucent colour on the inside, supposed to be cooked medium rare. My partner asked if my steak was ok as his tasted weird, I tasted his and spat it out. My dad said his didn’t taste like steak. My mum hadn't tried hers yet. My partner couldn’t eat it, so we approached the staff and asked to speak to a manager. No manager was available, we told her the steak didn’t taste like steak and she said she would get the chef to come and talk to us. She came back a few minutes later and said he had said to issue us with a full refund, I thought it a little strange that he didn’t even want to know what was wrong with the food he had cooked. Myself, my partner and my mum felt a bit funny afterwards but thought it may have been psychological, how wrong we were. My dad started being sick an hour later and me and my partner are also ill. Reading the reviews, I think maybe we came here on an off day?

Celebrated a family birthday at The Wheel a few months ago and it was superb. Food, service etc everything was great SO when another family celebration came up, there was no contest…. all agreed back to The Wheel. What a difference ! From the moment we arrived there was a strained atmosphere the staff were not so welcoming and unable to greet us,Waited ages for our starters . Another LONG wait and evenually ONLY TWO main courses were presented with the words , ' Sorry the other six mains will be another ten minutes or so '. The two main courses were taken back to the kitchen to await the other meals. Another long wait and all eight came out (two meals had just been kept warm and tasted like kept warm meals always do). Almost no puddings available so most of the party didn't bother..Very disappointed and put a dampener on the day. Made our feelings known to Manager who said the Chef had been on holiday and was fed up having to get back to work AAAH Poor thing !!Why can't venues like this maintain standards ???

Went to the Wheel Inn for a Sunday dinner with a large group of family and friends. The service was great, and the staff couldn’t have done anymore for us all. The food was served hot with plenty of extra vegetables and Roasties which were delicious. Extra gravy was spaced out in jugs around the table and we all tucked into a great lunch. Like another review states the Sticky Toffee Pud was luuuurvely especially with lashings of hot custard. Thanks to all the staff for a great meal, the chefs must take their praise as the meal was one of the best I’ve had in a pub/restaurant for a while.

This review is going to be a little outside the the box but I will endeavour to explain why. We have just held our second funeral wake here, both within three weeks. My mother and father-in-law both died within a few weeks of each other. We chose the Wheel Inn and we certainly made the right choice. Nothing was too much trouble and the array of food apart from the platters of sandwiches just kept coming. We had gorgeous filled rolls and sandwiches on both brown and white bread. These included beef and horseradish, ham and mustard, egg mayo, brie and cranberry, tuna, smoked salmon on brucchetta topped with advocardo just to name a few. The hot food items included chicken wings, onion bhargies, chicken goujons, little Cornish pasties, little cheese and onion pasties, chips, chicken drumsticks, various quiches (which were gorgeous). Free tea an coffee was in copious supply which satisfied the wrinklies amongst us and of course an array of alcoholic drinks, which included a well kept "pint of Bass", which I was informed about by a retired bass senior management employee who was spouting emphaticallay about it. Lastly, I would just like to thank all the staff for a fantastic service and such a well catered for event.

Family get together for a birthday Sunday Lunch. Ten of us most on traditional Sunday roasts others on the fish dish , one guest vegetarian option and another on the 'Pie of the Day'. All meals were served together on HOT plates , gravy in separate jugs and individual pots containing apple sauce ,horseradish, etc. All this served without having to ask which often happens elsewhere . All the food was expertly cooked by the young chef Kyle and was a home from home meal ..more vegetables and more of the delicious roast potatoes were served as the meal progressed... Sam the Manager was overseeing without intruding and was extremely efficient pleasant and friendly. Desserts nice varied selection but out in front was the sticky toffee pud......Yum Yum

Appears to trying to hide it being a chain pub, or tied or managed house.Service at bar was fine by one lady, but the younger morticia lookalike seemed docile. Fish Platter starter was okay, but the Whitebait reminded me more of small sardines, and tasted so too - not in season till July, so I was in by the day, 1st July!! Asked if the beef was rare, told it was - certainly wasn't rare, they appear to work on basis of overloading portions will compensate for tough chewey meat - looked so consistent in cook slice and texture to be boil in bag - did I complain? What is the point? I'd not eaten that day and they (the kitchen) wouldn't have understood! Avoid it if you can, I will.

My daughter & I went to the Wigston Cheesecake shop on 8th February 2021 approximately 11.30 am. We saw a cheescake we liked in the open fridge cabinet and tried to find someone to help us. My daughter saw the young female assistant doing something behind the counter and after a waiting for her we had to get her attention and ask if we could have the cheesecake we chose. She took it to the back & after a while returned to start writing on her clipboard and she totally ignored us. I asked her what happened to our cheesecake and she said that it was out of date and should not have been on display in the first place and continued writing on her clipboard. We received no apology and she didn't seem to care about us. We walked out in disbelief at the terrible service. We then went to Gregg's instead across the road and got some delicious doughnuts and the lady was so friendly and gave the best service with a smile. The cheesecake shop should learn from Gregg's what service with a smile means. WELL DONE GREGG'S & THANKS FOR YOUR EXCELLENT SERVICE! Will never visit the Cheesecake Shop again!
