This is a great pub if you like music and having a good time.be careful if you park in the car park it's easy to miss the sign saying you need to register your car.I was concentrating on not clipping the wall and ending up getting a £60 parking notice.This was my first visit so the manager has agreed to sort out for me.any way beware and enjoy a really good pub.

Went for an open mic event. Staff very friendly and pub has a good vibe. It's very much a football pub with big screen TV and lots of football themed decoration. Games room outside with table tennis and skittles. There did seem to be a lot of kids running around. Drinks are mainstream brands. 2 handpulls for real ale but no real cider on offer (only thatchers on draught plus a selection of bottled fruit ciders like old moult) will be back for more music but if you are a real ale/cider drinker the choice may be disappointing.

The Black Dog in Oadby has been my local for a few years now but I’ve never before reviewed it on Trip Advisor.It’s a proper community pub with a fantastic landlord and landlady in Ronnie and Kully and plenty or characters that will welcome you to this very friendly pub.There is a good selection of beers plus sport, music and jukebox available every day and they normally have some entertainment on Saturdays.The main thing that comes across when you visit however is the age range of the clientele where young and old mix together with total respect and simply have fun.What a great pub !

Visited here Saturday lunchtime for drinks and food but was told that they do food anymore. I wasn't if that was all the the time or just lunchtime only. I didn't enquire as I was disappointed. The service was good.All the facilities are good.Beer choice was good. Beer served was good.Overall satisfied, just shame about food!! I hope the landlord will sort this (food).

Fantastic pub back to being great again, helpful friendly staff great selection of real ales, draught beers, ciders and bottled beer, plus a seperate a gin bar. Fantastic for watching sports, with a great beer garden with a good smoking areas,. This is the oldest pub in Oadby with a great history and reputation this is not lost, friendly welcoming to travelers old and new, culturley diverse in every way. Old style pub feel that has kept up with a modern day, this is a must for a drink in Oadby

New car parking system did not realise it cost me £100 because I didn't register my car staff didn't say anything

Terrible food, ok atmosphere however, bad service and I mean bad bad. The lamb was dry and disgusting. Disappointed.

Jazz night where artists left stage back in few minutes never to return . Beer expensive mild at £3.66 and small scratching £1.40. A few customers and staff tried to out shout musicians not for me.

This pub is nearly always empty more bar staff than customers!Some of the bar staff can be friendly but found the new "bar manager' extremely rude and lacks customer service. Owners never there and they always make me feel uncomfortable and judged. Will not be returning anytime soon. Overall not a nice community pub bring back the last owners

After a days shopping in Leicester, decided to stop off for a bite to eat and this places popped up on a search for a place on our route home. Glad we did , fantastic food and reasonably priced. Lovely atmosphere and really friendly staff.

Met Gary, as he was on his way to The Black Dog. He'd prepared this delicious meal and was going to serve to the regulars - for free. Top man, great pub.

Nice place, but bit too loud to have a chat. Of someone want to listrn a music and have a drink then would recommend it.

Excellent service, the owner is extremely considerate and helpful. Nice selection of different draft beers and if that isn't enough, plenty of bottled beers to choose from. Additionally, the gin selection is quite extensive and you can also get a variety of other things. All in all, the atmosphere is like in a stereotypical British pub. And I don't mean that in a bad way at all. If you're looking for a great pub to pass time at or for meeting up with friends, look no further.

Popped in for a last drink after visiting Oadby, the last drink turned into about 4-5 more with dancing and singing too!!! Maybe shots as well lol Everyone was really friendly even the bouncer that asked us to leave as they were closing lol

We went with a group of 10 for our Xmas dinner, the food was gorgeous with excellent service, a really good atmospheric pub with a wide variety of beers. I will definitely organise my Xmas dinner there again, and definitely will be taking my weekly custom there.

Went to black dog yesterday with friends for a Christmas meal and night out . Food was fantastic and loads of it. Great atmosphere, lovely music and really enjoyed the night . Would recommend for a good night out , host is top notch !!

Visited the Black Dog on a Saturday night for food and drinks. The food from the Christmas menu was absolutely fantastic . Not only where the portions sizes very generous , the food was very well seasoned, tasty and cooked to perfection. The staff and landlord were extremely friendly and the whole atmosphere within the pub was warm and welcoming. Would definitely recommend this place if you want quality beer, tasty food all set within a lovely ambience.

From the moment we walked in we were made very welcome by the landlord Ron and his team. Very courteous and attentive. The pub is a hidden gem full of character and charm. The selection of beers is varied as are the spirits. The food is excellent value, with ample portions and a good home made menu selection. We passed on our compliments in person to the chef as our dish was cooked to perfection and was on par with much more expensive restaurants. We will definitely be back again and if you are ever in Oadby and searching for a local pub with good food this is the one!

This is nice friendly pub with rear car park. Good Beer. Good friendly locals and service. Lots of seating area. There is pool table. Worth a visit.

Excellent, one of the best pubs i've ever been too. Good beer, good pool table and a jukebox to boot. Would recommend to anyone. The manager/owner Ronnie is hospitable and friendly and makes every customer feel welcome.

Friendly service and great venue. Ronnie the owner, even greeted us and wished us well on the way out. Chef is coming in three week, we shall return to sample the menu.

Nice enough pub, with plenty of room. Only two people in at a Tuesday lunchtime, possibly because they don't do food.

A great family get together with traditional skittle alley food. The venue was lovely, cold but we are talking December. I highly recommend trying a skittle alley night, it brings everyone together and laugh.

This place is amazing . The new landlord and landlady kully and Ronnie are absolutely the loveliest people I have met . They both are friendly and accommodating. This was my first visit and went with family. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the carvery was 10 out of 10. I would recommend this little gem to everyone . The indoor and outdoor area is clean and well decorated as well as inviting . I have even pre booked my birthday party there in September. I have been to many bars and pubs but rate this one the best in oadby . Well done guys and we will see you again very soon for the delicious food and drinks and company. Ricky and Pam and family

New Landlord and Landlady are really nice, pub has a nice cosy atmosphere and is clean and tidy, outside seating is nice and I'm informed they do a lovely Sunday lunch which I will be trying very soon, definitely be going back

I have been here several times and for Sunday lunch and for about £8.00 it is exceptional and the food in the evenings is also very good.

We called in for a quick drink & decided to stay for some food. Couldn't fault it, we only had burgers, but they was lovely. Quick & Friendly service, nice ambience & fairly priced.

Friendly bar tender, told me to sit down and watch the game and he'd bring drinks over. Excellent service.

El personal era amable y atento, dispuesto a llevar las bebidas a la mesa en lugar de la barra y fue rápido para llevar a algunas salsas. Los aperitivos estaban todos deliciosos (recomiendo el falafel) y las hamburguesas eran todas tan bien como esperábamos de leer otras críticas.

I went to this pub in late September and thought it was good. It has a good atmosphere and when you want to watch any of the games you head there. Order some drinks and enjoy. The staff is very friendly. I definitely recommend visiting this pub.

Lovely staff and great atmosphere

We moved into the area in December 2015 and decided we would try this establishment as our new local.. we love it there. I can meet the girls for an evening out, take my partner and kids for an afternoon drink and pizza and enjoy a family carvery on a Sunday. All the staff are really welcoming and friendly. The chef is great, the food is top knotch.

Great clean pub, really friendly staff. Well kept beers, good standards. Food is lovely with the dining separate to the bar. The garden at the back is really nice, good seating and a big screen for sports. Function room available.

What a fantastic evening great food great entertainment and a great host. I would definitely recommend a visit.

I nipped in on my own on the off chance of getting something to eat had there home made black dog burger and a couple of real ales the food was very tasty and very reasonable and the ale is kept very well since my first visit i have decided to come back and its turned out to be my regular the staff are great very polite and friendly the management are very polite and friendly also they have got the sports on great room for private functions and always coming up with new ideas to make it better than it already is

Decided on a whim to visit the Black Dog to watch the football and came upon the Carvery by chance. We have tried many around and about but value for money this is the best we have had in a long time, plenty of choice and cooked to perfection. Nice surroundings, polite and helpful staff ... I don't think I will be cooking a Sunday Roast for a while. In fact we will be back to sample their regular menu. We highly recommend you try :-)
