Our family celebrated mums birthday meal and we all had a lovely meal. The leval of service from all the staff was exceptional. Will recommend to all other family and friends

Service was good, but only turkey left on the cavery. Place was pretty much empty with only a few tables taken. Other food on the cavery had obviously been sat for quite a while, so it wasn't the best. Myself and my partner fell ill the next day and put this down to the food. I'd definitely look at the food before paying to check your getting fresh & edible food. If it's quiet I'd probably avoid the place.

Had my daughters party here today and it was amazing start to finished, they all loved making there own pizza and the staff were very helpful and welcoming, I would definitely recommend

We went to the wheatsheaf for a friend’s birthday lunch. The staff were so friendly and accommodating and despite being short-staffed went out of their way to make our time special. The carvery was generous, the choice wide and varied and there was as much there as you could want. Very good value. We will definitely be back.

Nice place to go and staff is so cooperative

From one famous chef to another, I got to sample the Mid week carvery and it was outstanding. The meats were so delicious and tender, some the best I’ve ever had. Vegetables were fresh and hot with the roasties fluffy and crispy. New cheesy mash was a welcome addition to the menu. Finished off with an ice cream sundae with sauces and fruity sugar bits. A nice refreshment after the meal. Great meal and served to an excellent standard from the chef and staff on duty.

DO NOT EAT HERE!!!! i came here with all my family 5 days ago and have had really really bad food poisoning ever since, the first night i was projectile vomiting for 2 hours solid, then had really bad stomache cramps and diahorhea and still have that now 5 DAYS LATER, i had to take two days off work unpaid aswel at 150 pound a day! its safe to say i will never be returning to this pub ever again, i had a double cheese burger meal with pulled pork on top just incase someone else was going to order that

Gravy very salty but all food excellent.

Brought some of my elderly friends out for lunch as we have all been stuck in for weeks due to the poor weather and a break from the same four walls were needed. Thanks to the friendly, helpful bar staff and happy cook. You all helped make our day and we give you 5 stars each. Nice day out, super dinner and we are all cheered up and happy bunnies.

Amazing food and great staff for a great price range

Visited yesterday with my partner and 4 children. Amazing atmosphere, food was to die for! Succulent meat from the carvery and a huge thumbs up for ‘the best pizza ever’ from a very happy 5 year old! Highly recommend. Thank you to Lynsey and the team :)x

The carvery food was pretty much ready for the bin it had been left uncovered under the heat lamps so it was dry and starting to burn.. NOT GOOD

Update. This place seems to be on a downhill slide. I recently popped in for a breakfast but as it was 11:30 they had stopped serving breakfast and the carvery was up and running instead, well it would have been if there had been a carver at the counter... The whole time I was in the pub I watched time after time, people standing, waiting at the counter, waiting, and waiting untill one of the bar staff would notice and then go out back to chase the chef out to carve. I myself waited a good 15 to minutes to be served the thinnest and smallest slice of turkey I had ever been served in a carvery, anywhere! Maybe they had anticipated a slow day as there was actually very little on the hot plates. They ran out of items several times, leading to even longer waits. The usual crowd of happy eaters that you will find here had been transformed into a dour and sullen bunch, and their frustration was tangible. Such a disappointment compared to the usual dining experience I know and love here, finngers crossed that they were only having an off day. ===≈==========≈======= I was a bit reluctant to dine here, not because I had heard anything bad about the place but simply because it is a Stonehouse. I have never had a pleasant dining experience in one of their pubs. My daughter in law had, however, been here for an all you can eat breakfast experience and found it to be okay food but great service, so we decided to give their carvery a go. I have to agree with her, the staff and pub are amazing, friendly, attentive and the pub itself is well maintained a clean. The food is well cooked, it is, however, just so average... That being said, if you're dining on a budget and are looking for a no thrills roast, then this is the place to be. Honestly if the Alma inn in Lower Upham, Hampshire could get up to this standard I would start doing group rides there again but alas it has been a few years now and is still not worth a visit. So well done, Wheatsheaf, you turned this old soldier around, and I will be back for more, maybe not with 30 riders in tow but definitely with the family 👍 Edit. Popped back to try the breakfast, and I wasn't disappointed. £8.49 for an AYCE breaky with bottomless coffee, awesome. The coffee was not the best and a tad on the weak side. The food, while not being top quality, is well cooked and presented. All in all, a very, very good breakfast that is extremely good value 😋👍

We had a gift card from Christmas soo we came along. We had a fantastic meal from the main menu, ow my god it was way and above what we thought we were going to get. Highly recommend the combo stater and the burgers and meaty and tasty. Sandwich was in good quality bread with quality fillings to boot. Cocktails yummy!

We had the pleasure of having our family Christmas dinner at the Wheatsheaf and we couldn't have been happier, if we could give more than 5 stars we would. Right from first booking our table everything went great, they were very accommodating of the needs of my SEN son. When we arrived our table was ready and very Christmasy, the food was hot and all of it delicious and the staff were super friendly. We had a fantastic meal and will definitely be returning.

Popped in here for a quick bite to eat after the zoo. Food sounded nice and prices were OK. Ordered through the app which was pretty seemless. Part of my food arrived fine, the rest I watched sit on the pass for more than 5 minutes and ended up taking it from the pass myself. As I did so a waiter brushed past stating "I would have brought that to you" clearly not. My daughters food was the same situation. The food my dad order was stale and sent back. Then after a long wait a replacement was brought. Once finished my daughter had ice-cream from the serve yourself soft serve machine. The machine had seen better days and was very slow, the sauces I was assured were there were missing, and finally the toppings, of which there were only 2 of the 3 available the first worked fine but the second option the dispenser was broken so I resorted to just opening the top of the dispenser as a workaround. Overall I would say food and prices OK, service pretty ropey and facilities (ice-cream machine) in disrepair. I would avoid at least until things are in better shape.

We have had a wonderful afternoon at The Wheatsheaf! We had a Christmas family gathering and were running a bit late. I called to give them a heads up and Lindsey was really understanding about it. Most of us had the carvery which was really tasty. Loads of sides and veg choice and meats cooked well with good servings given. A few of us had the burgers too. The service was excellent and team made it a great atmosphere. Special mention to Lindsey and Ella who were so chatty and helpful. Lindsey had great energy which I loved. My daughter ate for £1 on the offer menu via the Stonehouse app which I thought was amazing for the festive season! Highly recommended for a family meal out in a friendly and welcoming environment. Very reasonably priced too. We’ll definitely be back soon!

I was recommended this as a place to get a good breakfast, unlike your local Evri courier this place actually delivers. Greeted very pleasantly was told the breakfast buffet station is constantly Refreshed but should I need anything I've only to ask. This was refreshing as two days after Christmas Day if I was them I'd just be about done with people. Special shout out and notable mention to the unsung hero's of a breakfast "the hash brown", may possibly be the best cooked hash brown I've eaten. Also the Toaster, more reliable than Bruce Willis in a die hard movie, actually does the toast perfect. None of this, it's been round why is it still bread or double lap and you now have your festive charcoal. Just spot on. With only being a few mins from the motorway do yourself a favour and ditch the same old fast food top ups and get yourself down here for some proper grub.

Had a great Christmas dinner here there was a few little hiccups forgetting some starters and giving us our pudding before taking our mains dishes but they were run off their feet and worked so hard well done everyone and thank you for making us feel so welcome and making our Christmas Day special.

Booked for our family Christmas get together on boxing day (24 guests).. Arrived and our tables were ready and waiting and had freshly laid covered tables looked very welcoming, lynsey came straight away to give us a welcoming chat and was very enthusiastic, all orders were placed with Dawn who was very friendly who accommodated all drinks. Menu food swiftly came out and was all able to eat together, carvery was very nice with all meats and veg available.. Lynsey, Dawn and Ella were very swift with coming to collect empty plates and drink glasses which was good for next courses to be served. Kids we giving bowls to go get their ice creams and they all enjoyed using the machine. As prevoiusly worked in hospitality myself I know how stressful big group booking christmas events can be but lynsay, Dawn and Ella took it in their stride and we so friendly and helpful with great service, was a great atsomphere and even though we stayed longer we weren't rushed to leave. All in all had a great evening. Special thanks to all the kitchen staff also who were fantastic in providing the meals

Never been before, lovely place, met by a lovely lady on arrival, who took us to our seat, and explained how it all works, the carvery was absolutely lovely very fresh and hot, staff couldn't do enough for us, will definitely be back soon.

Visited for birthday celebration meal. Very welcoming staff, food was great value for money. Beer well priced and staff couldn't have served us better. We were family of 7 with two children who were very well looked after by the staff. Would recommend as a great place to go for a meal. Big car park, big pub, plenty of tables but we did book ahead. We'll definitely be back. Pub and toilets were very clean.

Best quick and easy carvery of all time always cooked beautifully

Food was fantastic, had 3 course festive menu. Food was great, tasty and very good value. Service wasn't the best, didn't seem to know how to serve food to patrons and didn't seem too bothered either. Place could do with a clean, tables were dirty and carpet needed a good hoover.

I came to this restaurant for a last minute lunch with my mum. We had fabulous service from the moment we walked in. The staff all had smiles. Clair in particular was fantastic. She was there every step of our journey and happy to help ourselves and other. The food was nice and hot and plenty to choose from. Thank you!

Visited on Tue Dec 10th. Special thankyou to Sophie. This lovely young lady's service was 5 star. She was a true host to all. I have visited high end restaurants and experienced the same level of hosting as this lady provided. If hospitality is her direction, then this lady has a natural enjoyment in this provision and a very bright future, a true asset to the chain. A true asset to the restaurant/bar. The food really was lovely. Had priorily visited a fair while ago and food was below standard, so whoever you have cooking the food now, please keep them. Sophie made our parties day and the food ensured future visits.

Went for breakfast arrived 9am and was informed that food would be out by 9.30am. I appreciate this type of communication so we had a hot drink and caught up whilst waiting. I previously marked this restaurant down but after today's visit have rescored. There was plenty of food served and white bread for making toast. The chef came out an hour after we arrived and apologised to every table for the delay on food that morning. What a beautiful thing to do and she didn't have to. This made a massive difference to our visit that day. We don't mind waiting if we know but for her to explain that the morning hadnt gone to plan we got to see a human being owning that. Will definitely return and keep this chef!!!!! She is an asset to you.

Great place to eat, staff welcoming. Starters were hot and served quickly. Mains also arrived quickly one of our party choose carvery well cooked lots of meat, lots of choice for veg well cooked and hot. We will choose this carvery in future after bad experience in Parkgate same chain, it has old fashioned charm and staff understand about good customer service.

A pub with a carvery & pizza dishes all day, great value.

The team working (5pm) 20/11/24 were an excellent smiley and positive bunch which made our visit very enjoyable. Even went out their way to show our children the Christmas colouring competition. Top service and great food.
