Proper pub, very welcoming and excellent beer selection

Great local, proper pub. Good drinks. Good atmosphere. Welcomed despite being a visitor. What pubs should be like!

What a lovely little pub, I've noticed it the odd time travelling from Northallerton and I've wanted to stop. This is defo a place to come and see. A hidden little gem. Lovely staff too.

Absolutely beautiful traditional pub we spotted it as we drove by and even from the outside it felt like it was our kind of place…we weren’t wrong. Log fires with a homely atmosphere, although we aren’t from the area we felt welcomed. Most certainly recommend this pub, so cozy and the owner was lovely. Also as a side note: Dog friendly 👍🏼

So. This is a drinker's pub. A real local. I'm sure it can be welcoming to outsiders (it advertised on the main roads), but the locals were all sat in one room, and silence fell upon the room when we entered. The landlord was a friendly chap, with 2 lovely dogs and a cat, so the overall feel was fine. The interior is very oldy-weldy style, and charming to be in. Just don't sit in the wrong seat. The beer selection was good if not limited to a few ales (I know that's not a limited selection but the interior is good enough for me to spend hours in there so having 6+ would have been better!)

Real fire, real wooden beams, real ale, really dog friendly & a very warm welcome real old pub. Food was awesome, best Gammon steak ever & house Curry. Very relaxed atmosphere, highly recommend a visit, book a table to avoid disappointment 👍

Oldie worldie pub. Little bit put off by the cat walking along the bar and the dogs running around

Having just moved into the local area I have been on the search for a GOOD traditional pub, and boy did I find it here. Sure to be my new local. Landlord and locals are friendly and couldn't have made me feel more welcome. I know my pubs and this is spotty dog . Bosh.

Very dog friendly but not enough selection of rose wine sorry! Son loved all the craft beers though! Lovely and helpful staff.

What a wonderful country pub in a quiet little village and less than a mile off the A19. Quaint with a nice beer garden and quite a choice of ales. If passing it would be daft not to drop in.

A much visited place over the yrars, and very much improved since my last visit five years ago.

PUB. Sadly not many like these left nowadays. Fantastic and long may it continue as it is. Great ales and friendly landlord and regulars. The bars and garden are real old school. Don't go for food because there isn't any which is exactly my point. Try it for an ale, you won't be disappointed.

Fantastic country pub. Almost everything I would hope to see. So cosy, so interesting with many items of history stacked inside the bar and lounge. A must see if you are passing and love a good old English style country pub. You could spend all day Sat with a fine ale in this wonderful pub. Well done to staff and owners.

On a cold miserable winters day it was nice sat in front of roaring open fire drinking very nice Yorkshire ale. Bar staff very friendly too.
