The Wheatsheaf in Sunderland

Not the best result for us today, but what a laugh it's been here today before and after the game, all the Sunderland fans and especially Wee Phillie made us all feel welcome and I've never laughed so much, thanks for having us (Sheffield Wednesday lot )

Short nostalgic visit which was regretted as soon as we entered. Building would have been a grand one in its day but now has a derelict feel to it. Near Sunderlsnd AFC ground and daresay it is crowded on match days but during the week it very much isolated - like a broken plough left on waste ground at the back of the farm.

Very rough and ready place but wow, so friendly. Both the staff and customers were all friendly and chatty. Top place!

The management are second to none...so friendly and polite and the service is absolutely fantastic...cannot recommend the place highly enough.

Pre match build up is second to none for SAFC fans other fans are welcomed if respectful

Before a Sunderland match we wanted to have a beer here. Upon entering, handwritten paper cash only on the door. Completely ridiculous in these modern times and fiscally suspicious. So losing cash less customers instead.

Yeah it was alright, can’t say anything bad about it, extremely over crowded and ended up curb-side before leaving because it was just that busy

Visited on matchday, very busy but served easily, great atmosphere.

Im not going to lie, i didnt like the singing or the loud music but apart from that the place was alright.

Not to bad, not a drinker but needed to rest up nice atmosphere.

Gents toilets were disgusting. No toilet paper and filthy.

Full of makems spouting utter nonessential nonsense and the beer wasn't very good

Very nostalgic visit back to this Pub . 50 years ago drank in the " men only" Snug . All mahogany and mirrors with a roaring fire in the grate . Still a friendly welcoming place with some original features remaining .

Great sports pub to visit on a match day

Popped in for a few before the Oxford match. It was heaving but the bar staff worked like troppers to serve everyone. Poor selection of beers, though.

Great place 2 visit on football days great entertainment which starts about 115pm

Cheap enough beer on match days with a friendly atmosphere. I've not tried the entertainment upstairs yet. Plastic cups are understandable but not for me.

Lovely Establishment with great indoor space and a wide selection on drinks and food. i would recommend trying it if you haven't already or if you are traveling through the area . its also close to local amenities if you need to pick anything up on your travels .

Lots of incredible people get in that bar been to a lot of charity events and raised fantastic amounts of money for different causes. Well recommended for nights out and events.
