Always meet up here once a month with a few friends, good pub very quiet now and I think they still do meals not sure and we only for for a couple of pints. Friendly staff

Heard some good reports about the food. However, I was very disappointed by the lunch. The portion sizes are good. However, it is just a shame it is pre bought food and not home made. The roast potatoes were slightly overcooked and not pleasant to eat.

Nice place split into a pub on one side and restaurant on the other. Popped in for a pint and three small plates. Will definitely return.

Love this pub been going for pint Madri now and then. They have now started up food and it was spot on the staff are so friendly and very welcoming highly recommend 💜

Guide post has started serving food again so thought we would give it a try. Staff friendly and welcoming, variety of food choices. 3 meals; steak pie, burger and chicken skewer with salad and couscous. All very nice and chef appreciated positive feedback. Average pub food and drink prices. We will be going again.

No food. Used to host regular music. Black Rose are neglecting what used to be a popular local. Last orders 9.30.

Good pub, in a prime location. It should have been made a roaring success for years but it's struggled under the pub chain shackles lately . Not being able to get and retain a good chef has been a big issue. A pub not serving food is a no no. The new manager seems very personable and keen to make the most of the pub.

Absolutely fantastic, one of the best sunday roast dinners had in a long time with great customer service. Compliments to the chef and everyone involved. Looking forward to coming back. Would DEFINITELY recommend a trip to the Guide Post to anyone 👍😀👍

This is my local so it's a slightly biased review. First things first; the Madri beer is amazing. Ultra smooth. The staff are absolutely amazing, so friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately it's currently not serving food (December 21), but it is dog friendly and the perfect place for a pint.

Great staff but food is unhygienic the chef doesn't wear a beard net the germs a beard carries its more hygiene to eat off you dogs back love the staff the bands but feel sick everytime chef cooks food

Carnt believe there advertising food still when clearly they are not doing food? Shame it wasn't mentioned about the doubles with mixers x2 for £6 it cost us £10.20 for 1 double gin plus lemonade a half of coke and a tap water????? All this stated on your website

Used to be my local. Pub has been taken over. Nicely done out. Shame the toilets haven't been done up ! Service for food/drinks was good. Covid ruling well covered.

Love the Guide post. Just had a beautiful meal with my daughter and her boyfriend. The new menu is perfect. We all had burgers with chips and slaw. Very juicy beef burger and excellent service. Keep it up Liz and all the team. Well done .

Decent pub, lounge area that provides basic pub grub. Separate bar area with a pool table. Friendly and inexpensive.

We decide a short notice to use this pub for our works Christmas lunch. The place was quite empty on a Tuesday afternoon. There was 8 of us and we all ordered from the main course menu. I had the cod and chips and my colleagues had a range of meals including curry, steak and ale pie and sausage and chips. Their was no complaints from our party but no one praising the meal either. Reasonably priced food and drinks. Free parking was a bonus.

Always enjoy meals at the Guide post, but its a pity they don't do the home cooked chunky chips anymore which made them stand out from their competitors. Can we have them back?

I was in area for 1940s day and went to establishment for Sunday lunch, I just wish I lived closer because I would be back every Sunday even the price was excellent was cheaper than my local weatherspoons

Had Sunday lunch here today and it was disgusting. 1 roast potato and it wasn't cooked, mash was not cooked properly and was lumpy, carrots tasted off, cabbage and turnip were ok, Yorkshire was stodgy. The whole thing was tasteless. 1st time here and defo my last. 🤮🤮

Lovely pub and staff, had meal, chips have been changed and awful so don’t know I’ll be back!! Change the chips!!!

The public was fine, Inspired a light lunch of nachos....placed on a plate with the cheese microwaved on top, cooked to within an inch of its life = one giant mass of hard cheese and crisps. I don't even know how you get nachos that wrong.

The food was amazing, I loved all of it however its a 1 star from me because they forgot me and I was locked in over night.

First time we've been this afternoon, lovely warm atmosphere, very comfortable, polite welcome from staff, good choice of beers and spirits, I had snoop hoggy hog burger and my partner had black pudding and chicken stack, food was lovely, chips are awesome, burger was good quality meat, and decent size. Thoughly enjoyed my meal. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food served. 5⭐

Good food, and friendly locals. Spot on, helpful staff and great service overall. Would 100% recommend a stop off if your in the area, 5 star service, the little ones loved it as well. Will definitely be back for multiple visits. Cannot complain at the price either. Cheap as chips.

Excellent food (on this occasion) it can be very up & down though, canny draught beer, have live bands on every do often usually pretty canny, especially liked a band called Joe James Band very good singer/vocalist.

Nice place at Springwell Village. Reasonable prices and good portions. You can enjoy a family dinner or some pints in a quite and relaxing atmosphere.

12 of us all had a lovely day, food good, loads to choose from, burger brill, home made chips, cheap and cheerful, nice ambience, fish nice not over fried crispy batter, outside tables with smoking, what more could u want? I know! Amazing staff! They were very welcoming, friendly and gave us free pool games, that's what makes a good pub! Go that extra mile, I will come back again. Like I say cheap, good quality food and nice staff, also bottle of wine is cheap and very nice.

We come couple of times a week nd always happy with the food very nice staff freindly nd helpfull how ever came f sunday lunch chose the king size f my self nd hubby very disappoined no carrots they forgot to put roast patoes on so the only veg was small bit of turnip nd cabbage certinaly not king size portion nd mash lumpy

Lumpie gravy sogie chips pie burnt to a crisp but the peas were ok will not go there again

Went for Sunday lunch. Good portion size (I had regular) and often offers on food ( it was 2 lunches for 10.50). Also had desert and this was lovely too
