The Wellington in City of London, Westminster

Stopped by the Wellington by chance and decided to sample a Guinness. Mac, the fabulous barman poured the best Guinness I've ever had, so I went back to the bar for more. Mac, remembered my order and we had a quick chat about Canberra Australia and Leeds. Fabulous hospitality and friendly. Ask for Mac to pour your Guinness, you won't be disappointed!

My husband and I had a lovely lunch here,chicken schnitzel and fish and chips very good! Staff very friendly and service good, felt a little cramped with tables quite close together but otherwise fine.

I had a very nice meal here on Tuesday 4/3 around 6pm. Whilst it was busy, the service was very friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was great. The sirloin steak was also very nice. I always love coming back to this restaurant.

An absolutely wonderful pub and building We visited after Exhibition at nearby Courtauld Gallery. Immaculately clean, excellent service and meal. Superb location. My friend treated us so I dont know how much.

Got off our Coach and as my walking issues bad found the Wellington and decided to go in for some drinks well it’s right in the heart of everything so we got a window seat and just watched the world go by for a few hours I stuck to a beer called London Pride very nice actually so we got a portion of Padron peppers to share very nice indeed the staff were friendly the toilets are down a steep stairs which I found very hard coming back up but on the whole the pubs a good one we will go back 10/10

We had our last and most delicious dinner of the entire trip here. Our waiter, Griffin, helped make our experience even more enjoyable. There were seven of us, and we had to make a reservation. We tried to go the night before but it was too busy. Definitely make a reservation! Among the seven of us we had the sausages and mash, rabbit pie, steak and pale ale pie and the brisket and other various meats pie, and a burger. We also tried the halloumi fries and three of their desserts. The pies- top notch. The winners of the night would have to be the rabbit pie and the steak and pale ale pie. The pale ale pie was so rich with flavor. It tasted like the sauce had simmered for days for how full-flavored it was. The rabbit pie was also delicious but maybe not for everyone. Griffin made our kids the country garden drink- no alcohol- and it was so delicious! The halloumi fries we got upon griffins recommendation and they were also really good. Don’t skip the sauce on the side. Everyone was pleasantly surprised by the texture and taste. Lastly, the desserts were amazing! The apple and blackberry crumble was so good that I could have had two. They were really sweet but also had a tartness to them that the crumble helped balance out! The lemon tart was very lemony and tasted so fresh. The kids also loved their brownies. We will absolutely come back the next time we come to London!

Very hospitiable staff and surprisingly busy (which added to the atmosphere) especially as the restaurant is upstairs so isn't likely to "pull in " casual passing trade. I had three courses - Venison Croquettes, Sea Bass with new potatoes, green vegetables (that also incl. prawns and mussels) and Sticky Toffee Pudding - all of which were absolutely delicious and worthy of a "fine dining" restaurant (especially the sea bass wbich was exquisite). I would definitely dine at The Wellington in The Strand again!

I've been to London four different years, and we've visited this pub each time. It has the best fish and chips, and we've been all over. Jose served us and he couldn't have done a better job. Pleasant location to sit and unwind. Highly recommended.

Nice pub in the middle of Central London, the drinks were reasonably priced and the loaded fries were nice albeit a little bit small. Overall a nice place for a spontaneous visit. Sadly no other stouts other than Guinness.

My husband and I went here for lunch today. The food was amazing 👏 we both had the roast chicken which was delicious, really tender meat. It was a huge dinner so didn't have room fir dessert. But the staff were very friendly and the service was great.

This is a great fish and chips restaurant. After going once, I couldn't forget it, so I came back again. The second floor is where you eat. Three people ordered two large sizes. The white wines we ordered together, Chardonnay and Italian Pinot, were fragrant and elegant and went well with the dishes. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is great. Highly recommended if you want to have traditional British dining.

Solid pub in a great location. There's ample seating around and plenty of great beers on tap. Not necessarily worth going out of your way for, but if you're in the area its worth a visit

The Wellington is a solid pub with a decent selection of classic British meals and drinks. I went for the Grilled Sea Bass which was cooked well and tasted great. The other meals also looked nice using quality ingredients. The service could be improved, we found it hard to get the attention of staff to get seated and there was a bit of a delay with meals coming out for our party of 6. Overall good experience and if you’re after an easy place to dine in Stand I’d recommend.

My husband and myself went in for lunch a couple of weeks ago before going to the theatre. Welcomed by friendly waiter, Jose. We told him that we fancied having one of their pies and he recommended the three beef pie which came with mashed potatoes and carrots and a gravy boat on the side. We asked to sample some of Nicholson's beers which he quickly served. The food was delicious, generous portions, at a fair price. The pub was warm even on such a cold day and Jose was most welcoming and efficient. Highly recommend.

What a fantastic find! We visited The Wellington yesterday for lunch before visiting the theatre, and it was simply fantastic! We were the first to arrive in the restaurant and were greeted by the staff who were really friendly and welcoming. 3 of us had the Beef shin rib and brisket pie and it did not disappoint! Despite looking like each portion could easily feed 2 people, we all cleared our plates completely and it was DELICIOUS! the other diner had the garlic chicken schnitzel which was equally as yummy. No complaints from the 3 men about the larger and ale, lovely clean lines. Cant rate this place enough to be honest, service is excellent - make sure you book as it was packed by the time we finished our lunch - we will be back in March!!!! SUPERB

It is important to reserve a spot if traveling with a larger group. The food is typical pub, food of very good quality. It's great that tap water is also served as an addition to the drinks you normally order. We were there with eleven people before attending a musical and had a very good meal. We ordered smoked salmon on focaccia. It was the meanest portion imaginable. Literally half a piece of baguette each and a thin one at that. It was a half portion and for 9.50 each we felt really ripped off. It wasn't particularly nice either. Never again. Used to be a great pub. Now it's just a tourist rip off joint. Disgusting.

Normally hesitant at tourist traps in the city centre, can’t believe how on point everything was. Fantastic food, amazing service and atmosphere. From the moment we entered the pub we were greeted by staff and directed up stairs to the restaurant. The food here is very bad. They need to make a few things well rather than have a huge variety and all bad. The fish and chips were soggy and stale. Nothing fresh about it. Our server was kind and attentive and the actual place is nice but the atmosphere was lacking.

Such a lovely place! Our first evening in London we hade dinner here. Made an online reservation in advance when we were still in The Netherlands. As main dishes my wife had a pie with turkey and I had the Chargrilled chicken & chorizo. They were both delicious. Good service and excellent atmosphere. Go there!

We popped in here for some food on Monday about 5.00. The barman downstairs said they had room upstairs in the restaurant so we went upstairs. The restaurant was fairly empty but the person upstairs was less than welcoming and made us feel like an inconvenience he had to deal with whilst he waited for the evening rush. The female member of staff was however very nice. The food, when it arrived, was such a mix of good and bad! The pie was divine, hot, perfect, scrumptious. The vegetables and chips were cold. How can it be so hard to serve food at the same temperature? My partner had chicken and chorizo which was so laden with garlic it was unpleasant. What an odd dinner! Normally, I would have been quite happy to point out that my food was tepid, but the person upstairs who seated us was so obviously unpleasant we decided to just eat our food and leave. I couldn't be bothered with having a discussion with someone who was so disinterested in us as customers. A smile would have gone a long way! And incidentally, it was just as empty when we left as when we arrived. So, I have to conclude, with so many places to visit in London, I'm sorry we decided to spend our money here and I would certainly not come again.

Great night at the Wellington. Food and service excellent. Food came very quickly and was piping hot and very tasty. I had the steak and ale pie and it was delicious. I was so pleased that they accommodated my large party of 11 at such a busy time of year. Well done the Wellington.

Drinks are very decent, but service is awful. Servers walk around and care more about themselves than about their job and the customers. I asked twice to take dirty dishes from our table, finally she did it, but left the table unwashed. Finally, I took a rug and wiped the table myself. No any concerns about the customers from the staff.

Despite being in a busy area, they manage to keep everything running smoothly, even during peak times. I would highly recommend and will be back.

We had a large group of us booked in for dinner and it was a great experience. The service was efficient and quick and the staff tried to accomodate the large party the best they could. The party was from all over the world, so not the easiest of tasks to undertake. Everyone was very happy with the food, location and atmosphere of the pub and we would definitely recommend for a large festive party.

Had a lovely present show lunch here. It was lovely to go to a traditional pub with great atmosphere. So many positives. Lovely member of staff welcomed us to our table and looked after us throughout our lunch. The menu was excellent and catered for our veggie guests as well as others. Quality of food was amazing. Just such a good experience. On exit our waitress smiled and said thank you, which I recipicated. The restaurant is up stairs away from the bar. But we had a look in to the bar and it also looked lovely. Highly recommend 👌 👍 👏

I checked the reviews and they were good. Maybe it was a bad day. My roast was luke warm and the roast chicken was a leg.. well two actually were dry and awkward to eat. The waitresses though were lovely and efficient. Definitely had much better roasts for the same price.

Had food and drinks here while spending the day in London. Had three bar snacks from the menu, which were great value for money and very filling. The sticky chicken in particular was a real treat! Drinks are reasonably priced for the location of the pub and the start were friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend a visit!

Had another great visit to The Wellington and the experience was just as good as previous visit. Started with friendly and efficient bar staff who were also engaging and chatty about the history of the area and also with great food recommendations from the menu. Chose a selection of the bar snacks to accompany the great beers. Only minor concern was that fish bites are no longer on the bar snack menu but as per previous visit food was hot, tasty, well cooked and served quickly. A great shout out to the bar staff on the Friday night of the visit as they were efficient and helped to make a great experience.

A great place to eat and drink on the edge of Covent Garden. The restaurant upstairs is very atmospheric and has great character. The food was good with a great selection of beer and friendly staff.

We had a lovely time here. Alexia & Viki looked after us in a very professional and welcoming way. Their service really made the difference. We’ve been there for Sunday roast, and enjoyed the food a lot. Definitely going there again.

I found this place when I was looking for a restaurant that had delicious beef pies, made a reservation, and went there by myself. The first floor is a pub and the second floor is a dining floor. This time, I ordered the British Steak & Nicholson's Pale Ale Pie, which was labeled as ``British Pie Award Gold Award Winner,'' along with a house salad and tea. I was surprised by the carrots that came with the garnish, which were bigger than the pie, but they were sweet and delicious. The pie feels like it has beef stew inside rather than steak. The dough was also crispy and quite delicious. The staff were friendly and nice, and the atmosphere of the store was nice.

Came here for a team lunch. The food was great, with so many options, it was hard to choose, I went for the fish pie and it didn't disappoint. I'd definetly go back. Service was good too, very professional and attentive.
