Spent a lovely evening celebrating my partners birthday in the Jazz lounge. We had the tasting menu with wine pairing for each course. Every course was delicious. Although there were only 4 other couples there it didn’t Spoil the ambiance. Jazz duo were fantastic all evening. Would recommend for a special occasion.

Very nice venue, the atmosphere was very pleasant and the singer and her pianist very good. The food was overall very good: the entrance was very tasty and the dessert excellent (by far one of the best I have had lately) but I was a bit disappointed by the main dish which, without being bad, was very ordinary.

My husband booked me the 5 course tasting menu for my birthday which came with a glass of champagne for £65 pp and in itself was nice. Good portion sizes, tasty food and pleasant service. The jazz was lovely and wasn't too loud that you couldn't still have a conversation. The negatives were the price of the drinks - £15 for a glass of rose and £60 for the cheapest bottle is just ridiculous. And the lounge we were directed to for pre-dinner drinks was beautifully decorated but completely spoilt by the disgusting strong smell of cigar smoke and the door to outside constantly being used which was cold and uncomfortable. For these reasons, we wouldn't recommend this venue and we won't be returning.

Nothing amiss. All done very well. Nothing special, or different, or interesting though. Elegant, simple, nothing unconventional. A very opulent atmosphere, with staff who were very formal, and needed a little time to warm up and be friendlier. Perhaps due to the setting in the Wellesley? I always prefer a more human interaction. Very helpful, accommodating and proper in interactions and attention to the table. The table arrangement does not seem to be ideal though, as it was awkward to place plates in the middle seats in a larger table (5+). Overall score based on the food 8.5/10

Coming here on a deal was probably the only my wife and I would have contemplated dining at this establishment. It was very good value. The menu choice for the deal offering was good. Service was what one would hope for such a restaurant - very good and not too stuffy. The food was a delight. It has to be said that although everything was really lovely, there was a distinct lack of atmosphere, but it is good to be able to chat without undue noise and distractions sometimes. Worthy of a visit, once at least.

Just reviewed the whole hotel experience and this was the highlight! Was here at this delightful establishment last Saturday evening for dinner with my wife Corinne. Our first visit and as we frequently dine out in great London places we were intrigued to come here and try it out. Firstly we hit killer traffic and were 15 mins late, but we called ahead to say this and the receptionist was polite and courteous. It was tipping down with rain and with our taxi pulling up outside it was a welcome sight to see a smiling gentleman with an umbrella already there to ferry us to the door. We then entered and oh my goodness a stunning foyer area and very attentive staff members showed us to the resataurant reception straight ahead which was a lovely touch. We were shown to our table and felt immediately at ease, we have reviewed many luxury places before for magazines and online but this place was very good for a calming atmosphere only minutes from being outside in the hellish traffic and rain, a sanctuary. The dining area was very intimate due to its size but this was a good thing as it felt very exclusive and the decor en pointe. Fabulous, attentive waiting staff made our delicious courses arrive and feel at ease throughout. A really lovely experience and nothing was too much bother. The food was simply superb cannot find fault, not that we were looking, with any of the courses. The courses were immaculately presented and served so smoothly , all the waiting staff were inteligently attentive so, like in some dining rooms you feel watched, it was just a plain great evening. Wine was lovely and just felt so relaxed. Instantly now my wife's favourite place, booked again in a few weeks time to coincide with another of my wif'e loves- Jazz. In the Jazz lounge next to the dining room our drinks were taken into this lovely again, intimate room. My wife sat there and listened to Sara sing with excellent musical accompaniment just glued and in heaven. So sat there until 11.30 and was time to leave, and even had our taxi hailed for us and this rounded off a fabulous smooth, no hassle, fine dining experience. So for my wife and I this was just a perfect place, suited us down to the ground and felt very at home, certainly now this is also my favourite place! Hence booked again!

Went today on a deal for lunch £35 for 3 courses and a Bellini and coffee. Beautiful art deco dining room. The food was excellent, we had beetroot salad and octopus to start, salmon and guinea fowl for mains and creme brulee and ice cream for desert. The bread included in the price was also excellent. Service was very good indeed and wine by the glass was £10 - £12. I would definitely recommend anyone to visit, the only drawback being the lack of diners - we were the only people there and therefore the atmosphere does suffer hence 4 stars instead of the five that the food and service deserved

The food and service compare very favourably to most Michelin star restaurants and the ambience, both in the Oval itself and the Jazz lounge, are great. Little extra touches, like the petits four presented in cigar boxes (referencing the hotel's impressive humidor) make the experience feel extra special. This is a place with very professional staff an indication of value for money. First time ever I had minestrone soup comes in a plate and the actual sauce is poured on the table according to your need. Perhaps also one of the best restaurants in terms of food presentation which makes you curious and craving for it. It has quite atmosphere which is business like and cosy. Good for family or business or groups. Very decent just like the waiters. It is quite pricey but appropriately so. Parking your car is a bit of a challenge. Unless you have a chauffer a taxi or public transport are ideal. Also note that there is a glowing bar near the entrance which you can use before proceeding to the restaurant. I rate this restaurant very highly.

This was the third year for Christmas dinner and, I am afraid, the last. It was most unfestive. The burrata cheese was ruined by the seeds accompanying it. It was a very good deal:- 3 courses and a glass of champagne for £35. Despite this we two were the only table during the entire lunchtime. So there was no atmosphere! Nevertheless the service by our Italian and Greek servers was very impressive. I was less impressed by the food - mackerel, chicken then apple based dessert - it wasn't as good as I would expect for a top London restaurant - not as much flavour or subtle complexities as I have come to expect in the West End. Definitely a special occasion restaurant (not only because of the vert high price!). We really enjoyed our evening. Delicious food and attentive staff. Lovely jazz music albeit in a very formal atmosphere. Wine list is ridiculously expensive. We paid £100 for an average bottle (there were hardly any bottles below £100; a small selection was available at the circa £60 mark but that was the low-end). Meal for two was almost £400 (a la carte)! So the set menu is definitely better value.

Ate here twice during our 5 day stay at The Wellesley.First, for breakfast - 16 GBP for ham and cheese omelette that did *not* come with toast (that was an extra 2.50 GBP). Eggs Benedict came with 2 eggs on one muffin half (?). Coffee was 6.50 GBP each but was the best Americano coffee, thoughtfully served with *hot* cream on the side (so as to not cool down the coffee when it is added?) - yum! (We had lots of refills!)Dinner was very nice. We were going to the theatre, so they specially opened the restaurant early for us! We had the whole place to ourselves! We had pasta - I had a thin noodle like spaghetti with cheese, bean and black truffle sauce; my husband had linguini with Scottish lobster in tomato sauce. We were served a small complimentary 'surprise' salad of green risotto with kale, and then another complimentary surprise for dessert - a selection of 4 petit-fours served in a cigar box! It was an expensive dinner, but the service was top-knotch and the complimentaries were most appreciated.

The Wellesley Jazz lounge was an excellent choice for our first wedding anniversary dinner. Being from Australia and not familiar with London I looked at several restaurants and reviews. I stumbled accross this Jazz bar by accicent and I thought that it might be a more intimate choice over the typical city view restaurant. The menu price wasn't too bad compared to other restaurants I was looking at like Sky Garden, Aurora etc.I settled for the fixed priced 3 course as it was $49/ person as I knew my wife would kill me if I spent too much as we are on a 6 week euro holiday and the AUD is not that strong againt the € or £.We were politely greeted at Wellesley from the door man to the hotel front desk to the restraunt front desk.Mood of the Jazz Loungue was inviting, music was at the right level for dinning and conversation. We were seated at the front on a table for two which was fine but we asked to be move once a table was free on the out skirt as there was a lounge/seat at the table and appeared a bit more intimate. Our choices for the 3 course were the pumkin flan and squid for entre, crispy hens egg and sea bass for mains and for dessert was the canolo and lemon coconut dish. All were exceptional and the service from the was staff were just as exceptional. As I mentioned in our booking that it was our Anniversary, we had a complimentary dessert with " Happy Anniversary "

Every course was stunning in appearance and taste and the wines complimented every dish perfectly. I have never had a more enjoyable dining experience

First visit. Beautiful ambiance & decor as you enter hotel & the Oval Restaurant. Had 3 courses with champagne dining option. Starter calamari was well presented to detail & very tasty. My vegetarian ravioli with aubergine was nicely put together little quantity but filling. Guinea fowl breast sat in a bed of mashed potatoe, nicely presented, cooked to perfection. Coconut & lime dessert was best I've had as usually little effort is made at other restaurants in 5* hotels. Excellent meal offer. Champagne was Veuve which was lovely. Service exemplary, efficient, prompt & attentive. We were moved to other dining room to listen to jazz live music & had desserts, coffee & cocktails in there. A nice touch. Lovely classy hotel, fab decor, fab staff, nice food. Would return. A must visit.

We had a lovely experience at The Oval. The setting is brilliant, as is the service. We had a lovely waiter serving us for the evening. We have chosen the 3 course menu with a glass of champagne for 35 pounds. We enjoyed all the food, the complimentary starter (bruschetta) was incredible, the starter (pumpkin flan, gorgonzola cheese sauce, baby vegetables) was extremely delicious, the main course (roasted Guinea fowl potato & leek mash, cacciatora sauce) was exquisite. As for the desserts, they were all a treat. The dessert chosen from the menu was the Cannolo siciliano candied orange, pistachio sauce, a masterpiece. We got 2 complimentary desserts as we were celebrating a birthday. To top it all, the homemade bread was a nice touch. The champagne was Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut, a majestic drink. The only inconvenience is the cigarette smoke in the room, probably coming from outside or from other rooms.

First time I have been to the Wellesley and was impressed withe decor and standards. The staff were very at tentative and looked after us well. The food and wine was very good, 3 courses was plenty and we finished the meal listening to a very good singer (Kate ? From Llandudno!).

Booked in at the Jazz lounge on Saturday evening to celebrate our anniversary. We opted for the 5 course tasting menu and they also gave us a few surprises along the menu, so turned into almost 8 course. The food itself was delicious, working as chefs ourselves it was great to see some innovation and well cooked food, only one course was not to my taste but personal preference I think rather than the food. The lamb dish my partner had was just beautiful. All the staff that night were just really friendly and helpful. The jazz band which played through the evening were really good and a pleasure to listen to whilst dining. Soft and elegant voice from the singer and topped off a wonderful evening. Would recommend this place to people who want a relaxed atmosphere with some good food and appropriate to dress up a little too :) Thank you for a great evening

The fantastic live jazz music was unfortunately let down by the poor food and mediocre service. Every dish looked incredible and was impeccably dressed but somehow lacked flavour (from the amuse-bouche through to the petit fours). The service in the restaurant was ok but nowhere near what you'd expect of a five star hotel. The service in the bar was very poor and inattentive. Would not recommend going there for a drink before dinner. If the jazz duo played somewhere else, I'd probably consider going to see them there, but never again at the Wellesley London.

Livelli altissimi.Conto alto ma giusto

We had Christmas dinner here, and everything was wonderful from the accoutrements to the main of the three courses being turkey or fish. Each was caringly served. The Gavi di Gavi was equally memorable.

We attended for the Churchill afternoon tea. The service was very attentive, your cup was never left empty. The sandwiches were delicious, mini bagels were also offered. The sandwiches were refilled. The pastries were dainty and delicious. The food was plentiful with three choices of scone (chocolate, fruit and plain). Lemon curd was offered along with jam and cream. Mulled wine and mince pies were also on offer which helped create the festive feel. A pianist played Christmas tunes which lifted the atmosphere.

This is a small (36 room) ultra high end boutique hotel and it is fun to go into the restaurant. The building has been totally renovated and it feels expensive from the moment you walk through the door and start to count the large number of staff members, each with a charming smile. As we approached the reception by the 20 cover dining room, before we announced our name, we were greeted and told that our guests had arrived early and were in the bar. And a lady from the bar had also come out to greet us with the same message. Really attentive personal service. The setting in lovely, albeit slightly ostentatiously smart - an oval of white and gilded marble with tables around the outer wall and a feeling of space. It does mean that a noisy table will be heard but that was only a slight problem toward the end of an evening as three people celebrating a birthday appeared to want all of Knightsbridge to join in! Service is very friendly and knowledgeable (explaining the ingredients in each dish). The dishes are all freshly prepared and beautifully presented, so expect to spend a while in this lovely room - it ain't quick but it is good. The food is excellent. A huge variety of flavours complementing each other on the plate and very well presented. It is very tempting to get stuck into the delicious bread but be warned - there is a very filling evening ahead of you! I had the vitello tonnato which was presented on a varied salad with little petal-like twists of veal filled with tuna and tasting beautifully blended. My main course, ravioli, was al dente and very rewarding. My wife's guinea fowl was full of flavour and very subtle. The Oval is generous with its little amuse bouche and the gourmandises that appear in a black lacquered Cuban cigar box are wonderful. So far, so very very good. What is the catch? Well, really there is no catch; we had a wonderful evening and the team was first class (especially our Lariano head waiter). The only thing to be aware of is that the wine list looks very toppy/fully priced to begin with. There are some good wines at a tolerable price but you need to have a bit of a search and you will be rewarded with an excellent wine from Portugal, Argentina or Italy. We were on a deal and, the sign of a good restaurant, we were treated in every way as if we had just ordered a magnum of Petrus. Strongly recommended for a special meal.

The Jazz lounge at the Wellesley has a nice intimate atmosphere, and the service is excellent. Cocktails are good and it's very pleasant sitting and listening to the Jazz trio. The food and wine however are not cheap, and one kind of doesn't mind that because one accepts that the entertainment is free. However the food is not particularly good. My prawn risotto was rather stodgy and luke warm. My turbot (usually my favourite fish) was overcooked and rather bland. My wife had a vegetable cannelloni which she also said was rather bland. A couple next to us had steaks which they sent back and had a plate of cheese instead. There are very few bottles of wine under £50. It's a shame really because if they perhaps did slightly simpler food better rather than trying to imitate fine dining, the overall experience would be much improved.

We booked this restaurant as they had an offer during the London Restaurant Festival and we decided to go on my birthday weekend. The place is cozy and dimly lit. The food was beautiful. They have an extensive wine list! The waiters were attentive but not intrusive and very polite. We found the service to be excellent. What a great find!
