Really nice pub in a nice setting. Staff are really nice and attentive. Food good value as well

Took my nephew for a birthday meal and after waiting 45 minutes from ordering food and noticing that customers who came in after our party had been served their food reluctantly asked where ours was. The food then amazingly came out straight away burnt and had clearly been sitting under the heat lamp for probably 45 minutes. Manager said we could have the next round of drinks free but by this point we didn't want to spend any longer than we'd already been here. Ordered two Cokes, went to pay the bill to be hit with the full amount. Honestly service isn't great and the food was the worst it's ever been, which considering they'd just reopened after refurbishing that redecorating doesn't fix the problem of poor service and food. Sorry wayfarer but I won't be wasting my money in your establishment anymore.

Have come here a couple of times a year but seems like it's getting worse every time, food is adequate but fairly expensive. Service is poor with staff forgetting drinks ordered and forgetting to bring the desert menu, leaving us waiting 20 minutes, in the end we just left.

They are in the middle of a renovation so we were in the conservatory so out of it all. Food was good... Will try again once Reno is complete

First time visiting here. We went to Applecast Farm down the road in the morning and booked a table here for lunch. Service was prompt despite being a busy Sunday, and despite not ordering a Sunday lunch! They run a full menu alongside the roasts (which did look amazing 😍) I had the chicken shawarma and hummus flatbread and it was bloody lovely. My mum had the mushroom rigatoni and little one had tomato pasta. Ice cream for mum and little one for dessert, and I had the sticky toffee pudding sundae - all 3 disappeared in record time! Would highly recommend to anyone who, like me, has driven past a million times but never stopped to go in.

Bang average, and certainly won't be recommending to anyone. Another place that can write a menu, tempt you in, but can't deliver. No good offering the world when you can't do the basics right. When a 10 year old rejects the food there's something not right. Told the waitress (disinterested child) that the 3 barely touched plates weren't good and got "ok thanks" Not for me, sort your staff out, sort your food out.

Very disappointed waited ages for the meal, 6 adults and 3 children and all the meals weren't nice, on the plus side they did take some money of the bill but it was to celebrate our 13 year old grandson birthday who is disabled and really looking forward to a nice meal so was very disappointed, I would have rather have paid the full price for a decent meal. Vegetarian menu was very poor 2 mushroom dishes and a pizza which isn't very good for a reastraunt

An excellent place, been today for a funeral & staff very polite and friendly, buffet was very fresh.

Excellent meal and presentation and realistic prices the menu changes weekly so the chefs can be creative as they grow alot of there own veg and have there own mini brewery that I never tried but will do next time a must to visit we will be returning 😊

Good atmosphere and a good selection of in house brewed beers plus good food and coffees served.

Popped in for a drink , busy pub , ket let you try their ales ect before you buy 😉

We went here for the santa camp but we will definitely be back. A very cosy and welcoming atmosphere, hubby had the food whilst we did the experience and he said it was the best breakfast he had had in a long time! Staff couldn't do enough for us, so accomodating. A true hidden gem.

Had a Christmas lunch today 2 courses which was really nice the service was really quick the food was good and the staff were wonderful my sister an myself were really impressed will definitely be back again

First moved here and this was really nice to begin with, was one of the best fish and chips i'd ever had, last 3/4 weeks its been alot lower quality, first couple of times put it down to bad luck but now i think i'll give it a miss!

We have had food and drinks on numerous occasions at the wayfarer now and it never disappoints. Food and drink is always great, the service is efficient and staff are always friendly. Top place.

Absolutely outstanding! I would highly recommend this pub for excellent food and dining experience. Whether a cosy table for two or a party of 5 the tables are perfectly arranged so you don’t feel on top of each other’s conversations. We all chose different meals from the menu. There was a good choice of winter warming food from pies to grills all cooked to perfection. Even though I wanted to try something different I still opted for fish and chips as the host told us that another diner said it was the best pub cooked fish and chips they had eaten. They weren’t wrong. The haddock was very fresh. It was tasty and meaty enough yet melted in the mouth and the batter was crispy and tasty using the Problem Child beer that is produced on site. The chips were chunky, gastro style but not greasy and actually tasted of potatoes!! After that I tried the Affogato. A vanilla ice cream with a shot of espresso and it was different. I’m not sure if I would have it again now it’s been tried. The sticky toffee pudding won’t escape me next time! 😋 Service was excellent. Attentive and friendly. Overall everyone enjoyed it and decided it was the best pub we had dined in.

Great cosy atmosphere with good selection of own brewed and guest beers good food offering both traditional and Italian.

Amazing food all served by very experienced and helpful staff. The ale is made in-house and is fresh and cheaper than other pubs by cutting out any middle man. Never had a bad pint! Worth a visit. Def going back.

Got off to a rocky start over the order. That was rectified quickly. Food was excellent, it wasn't very busy for a Saturday evening. Its always been packed on previous visits. Only criticism is that older people don't like being referred to as Guys! Just ask if everything is ok. No more ' hey guys, alright guys etc etc.. No more over familiarity. There's a fine line, too much is cringe worthy. Some people may like it but we just like good service delivered professionally.

Brilliant...service, food and of course a couple of Problem Childs best made it perfect. 2nd visit after the Rugby & Beer outdoors which was so good. Staff are eager and nothing was a problem. Menu changes regularly so can't recommend one particular meal. Will be back very soon.

A really nice country pub. Some of the beers are brewed on site and are excellent. Staff are nice and friendly. My "local" even though I live 15 miles away.

Really good cocktails and food. The staff who waited on the tables were very cheerful and helpful. The food was good, I would definitely recommend going. They do need to change the way they handle tips though, if we tip we like to give it directly to the person and they keep it all for themselves and not share it with the other staff, they didn't serve us or make our experience better, so why would we tip them?

Pleasant atmosphere. Great to sit out when its good weather.

Went with family. Lovely Scottish waitress who helped us choose well. Was Mum and Dad’s wedding anniversary- so they made a fuss and offered free celebration drinks. Food was excellent- more quality restaurant than pub grub (except that the portions were very generous!)

Excellent traditional pub With a selection of cask beers , good menu that changes daily,large car park, It was festival day which added to the fun atmosphere.

Dropped by for breakfast in the mood for a Friday treat. I was not disappointed. Truly warm welcome from Jane the manager & great service from her throughout. Breakfast menu held lots of tempting choices from Eggs Benedict to pancakes to traditional (which I went for). Traditional breakfast was so tasty, well sourced ingredients and freshly cooked. Highly recommend, can’t wait to return!

Great beer and food, never disappoints.

Lovely pub that has a great laid back atmosphere. Large car park and large relaxed outdoor dog friendly seating areas. Inside the pub is tastefully decorated and comfortable. The Problem Child beer (Dirty Bier) that is brewed on the premises is superb. Large selection of drinks. Nice menu and good food. The bar can be a little understaffed at busy times but that’s a minor point. Great place to visit for a quick bite or a few drinks in the sun.

Visited at the weekend for Sunday lunch. We had booked a table and were greeted warmly and shown to a lovely table in the conservatory area. Fish platter and honey halloumi rolls were delicious as our chosen starters. I shared a Sunday lunch platter with my son which was plentiful and delicious. My husband had the beef Sunday lunch, cooked perfectly as to his request. Servers were attentive throughout but never intrusive. A lovely experience and one of the best Sunday lunches I’ve eaten at a restaurant in a long time.Well worth a visit.

Had a lovely meal in the pub area last Saturday. The greeting was friendly and professional and we were early so planned to have a drink first but we decided to eat in the bar area instead which we were made aware was order yourself at the bar which we were fine to do. The menu had a good and varied selection of meals and the prices were fair. Once we had tried the food we can highly recommend everything was delicious and arrived quickly and hot which made the prices seem even better for the quality of the food. Hubby had the croquettes and burger I had the squid and then the Chicken supreme! The squid had a dressing on the salad which had a little bit of spice but I like hot spicy food so was fine for me and the batter was light but 😋 tasty. The chicken supreme was DELICIOUS!!!!! The sauce was so tasty the chicken was moist and the black pudding side was fantastic 😍 an all round very tasty comforting dish We also asked some questions about the menu and an answer came back from the kitchen quickly 👍👍👍 Already planning our next visit There's also a very pleasant outside area with lots of lovely natural flower beds and planting. It was heavy rain on our visit so we were happy to stay inside and get cosy. Would recommend for a very very tasty friendly cosy meal and a fair price 🥰

Beautiful country pub with amazing food. I had the Big breakfast and wasn't disappointed at all. All of it was very tasty. Definitely one of the best breakfasts I've had. All of the staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Great that you can take dogs in too. We'll be back soon with our furry friend I'm sure.

What a great place. The food is excellent, The service is fast and professional. The problem child beers made on site are particularly good.

OK so yes it's a bit more expensive than some pubs nearby but I promise you it's worth the extra few quid per meal, their home made dirty bier is also great, better and cheaper than crud like moreti, can't rate it highly enough, totally coming back

Never eaten here but the choice of beers is amazing: many brewed in their in house 'Problem Child' brewery. They also have a really nice German Beir called Paulaner.

We visited the Wayfarer on a very sunny 🌞 Saturday afternoon. It was my first time visiting this eatery. It's set in a lovely relaxing location with a large car park and plenty of outside seating areas Upon arrival, the staff were very friendly and directed us to a nice outside table. You have to order at the bar. We ordered fish and chips 🍟 . Regarding the food. Overall, it was good at the price point. The fish 🐟 was a decent size and moist . The mushy peas 🫛 were tasty better than average. The chips 🍟 were ok,although some of them were undercooked ,as still firm inside. Despite that, we still enjoyed our luncheon in the outside garden with hot sunshine 🌞 beaming down. Overall, I'd definitely recommend visiting the Wayfarer as it's a lovely country pub and eatery .

Great service from friendly staff. Great food starter and main, good beer and wine. Only small poi t was the ice-cream was served half melted, I think it had been sat on the serving counter for a while.

Good experience, a proper british pub. The food was good, lentil curry, and the beer was excellent. I will definitely go back to try different food and more beer.

Don't even bother ordering the platter at this place. Go to miller&Carter instead wish we had which we usually do for birthdays etc. They are having people off!! £48 for a platter for 2 people,that was brought out with 3 thin minimal skimpy slices of beef no bigger that a biscuit,one small chicken leg&a small piece of pork which most of it was fat. Really felt well&truly ripped off,mentioned to waitress serving it before reluctantly trying to share it onto our plates,there was enough vegetables etc but a sunday platter ain't about making do with most of your dinner being vegetables,it was a absolute disgrace,didnt even stay for deserts so they lost out,if it wasn't for my lovely other half booking it for my birthday I would of walked out,not kidding my little dog would of looked at me for more if I served that in her dish!! PS i dont normally complain but made a exception for this experience so BEWARE!! ,2 days after posting the above I have had a reply to say they offered more meat,they should put more on in the 1st place,they offered a piece of chicken,but that didn't make up for the other short comings served. I would of been ashamed taking it out to a customer. Anyway the business wayfarers have also quoted they having this honest review DELETED, just shows you the kind of people they are..

My family and I enjoyed a delicious meal here today… the food was delicious! My wife and I shared the Sunday Platter which we found very filling, plus a dessert was really good value for money. The staff were great with the grandkids and it was nice to go somewhere where you’re not rushed out.

It was ok , nothing Great food was okish gammon was ok chips were hard, the sticky toffee pudding was lovely , service was very slow 😏

We dine out at least 3 times a month and this was the best service and food we have had in the last 12 months. The staff from teenagers to management were fantastic and the food was beautiful. Anything not on the menu was clearly communicated to us. We will be back in April with friends and family. Thank you

Limited menu for Easter and by the time we went in there were more crossed off, food needs to be warmer when served but the presentation was good and staff very good as well.

Called in today on our way to Southport. We had a Sunday lunch sharing platter that was out of this world. Starters were very good too. We will definitely be coming back. Dog friendly too which is a bonus. Thanks and see you again.

We have been coming for the last few years, service is always the best, never had an issue with the food it's always lovely and they cater really well for coeliacs (gluten free options). I've never seen it quiet to be honest yet the food is always hot and quick. The only thing I would change is a gluten free Yorkshire pud for the Sunday roasts 😂😂

Lovely food, very quiet, was presented (very politely) with the bill and card machine to pay before we'd been asked, so didn't feel welcome to stay for extra drinks after our meal even though they didn't need the table and it wasn't near closing time. Everything else was lovely.

As always, the staff is consistently friendly and professional. A warm and inviting atmosphere. There is plenty of seating indoors and out. The service was fast, even though it was peak lunchtime. Our food came out quickly and hot. As alwacooked to perfection. There are many reasons I pass by several closer pubs on the way to the Wayfarer.

We were booked into a nearby restaurant, party of ten, but on arrival they had no electricity so we relocated to the Wayfarer and they looked after us very well considering time of day, 1pm. No complaints at all about service and food. Well done and thank you

Christmas meal was a disaster. Carlic bread with out the garlic. Turkey was 1part meat. 2 part stuffing roast potatoes were so hard. All in all a disappointment for the money. Can't blame the serving staff.

Always drove past and wanted to pop in and so glad we did! Went in before Christmas after a lovely walk! Reasonably priced, I like the fact breakfast is served until 2pm!! Dog friendly as well! Very welcoming and their own brewed beer was very nice!

We went this evening and the food was shocking chips were full of grease chicken burger was poor and the cheese starter we sent back the only meal enjoyed was the pizza do not know what has happened!!! Such a shame had many good meals there in the past. Such a shame the waitress who helped my daughter was such a nice lady thank you so much..

Albeit it was the 27th of Dec and it may well have been a reduced team after the busy festive season, there’s no excuse for the poor quality food and service we experienced. Greasy, deep fried and tasteless would be a few words to describe our meals. The waiting team were young, inexperienced and clearly under trained but I would have expected more from this place. Building tents in fields has perhaps distracted them from their core business but I certainly won’t be eating there again. We collectively spent over £400 and I’ve had far far better for much much less locally .

Disappointed with wayfarer tonight, one my favourite places dine out... food was amazing... Service shocking, sons fries came out after he ate pizza after 3 times of asking... told by management they'd take fries of bill, they never.! waited over ten minutes pay bill..again wasn't busy on 28th December, Service again was shocking left after hour as Service so bad..!

Christmas Dinner was fantastic, huge portions. Already decided we are booking for next Christmas.

Always a good atmosphere in the Wayfarer. Food is also good but can sometimes be a bit hit or miss. More recently it's been a hit.

Delicious food and wonderful accommodating service. Tandoori Mackerel, and Pâté Sourdough starter with a Christmas dinner platter shared between the two of us and our toddler.

Super service, came with a party of 26 and we had an amazing time.

Phenomenal. Food perfect. Presentation prefect. It was an accident we dined here because our usual place was full. But it has been replaced by this. honestly 11/10 for everything. Definetly returning for Christmas meals and birthdays 100% would recommend 👌 😋 👍

The place was amazing. It had a brilliant local atmosphere and feel to it. The food was incredibly tasty and the service was with a smile. Live music delivered by Vernon was also wonderful.
