Excellent service food was delicious very relaxed atmosphere

Brilliant food and brilliant price fab value for the money

Recently been renovated- both decor and the menu. Mother in law has been going for a while and always says it's been great, but the new menu is particularly tasty! Huge portions and really good quality ! They also clearly make their own chips on site, which were super tasty. Loved it and will definitely be going back whenever we visit the area from down south :)

Nice food and ale, we will be returning soon.

Still a very nice pub. We got there about 16:00 for the carvery Sunday lunch. Some of the veg had dried out and was very hard, and it costs approx. £17 per adult, but other than that it was ok.

Lovely little pub with a big beer garden. Good to stop off at on a summer Sunday drive just as the last of the sun was making patches on the grass. Lovely. Will try to stop and eat next timex

Looked online at the website and said it was open 12-8 so 4 of us went there looking forward to a bite to eat and a drink and it was closed. Very disappointing should update the website.

Food was greasy, burger was tasteless and the chips were the terrible, under cooked and soggy.

Went for Sunday lunch.The server was very tight with the carvery meat ! for the price it shouldn't be wafer thin . Nice staff.

It's such a shame to have to leave a review so low. The plough years ago was a great place for food and drinks. Fantastic atmosphere and always rammed full. We walked in this evening (Saturday) to an empty pub. I felt sorry for the one girl who was behind the bar and taking food orders. The food really wasn't good. We won't be coming back. The microwave in the kitchen must have been busy. Chips where cold. No idea what happened to the onion ring. Coleslaw was sour. The burger was OK. It's such a shame because this place was a favourite of ours years ago.

Atmosphere? What atmosphere.... Service was slow although friendly and polite. "baked" camembert was not cooked correctly, cheese was still solid, took that long to come if it was sent back, others would have long finished. Main, not so mint gravy with lumpy mash. Lamb shank was chewy. Would I return.... Absolutely not.

Not been here for ages, but we'll go again soon, fabulous carvery would definitely recommend.

Ordered lasagna…. Can’t say I’ve had any sort of lasagna like it. It was literally meatball sized ground beef with cheese. Totally flavourless with almost whole mushrooms. The adults portion was the size of the child’s and swimming in oil. The chips were cold, and came with a sizeable salad. Very unimpressed despite loving the pub

Myself husband and dog Charlie went to the Plough Inn today the 10/2/2024 to celebrate my husbands birthday. The welcome and service was amazing. Ben the new Chef was really friendly and really helpful. The carvery was the very best that I can ever remember having. Fresh farm produce.Best grade of beef turkey ham.The roast potatoes were delicious and gravy too.The soup chef even helped me back to my seat with my meal.Thank you. the food arrived hot and was delish however it said it came with rice and chips and there was no rice which was the reason i ordered it. Can't fault the food I received just a shame it wasn't what I was expecting

Was there last wee family of 6 service slow and meals very pricey portions average was regular with previous management doubt we will be back

paid 16.50 for salt and Pepper chicken and its got 4 tiny pieces of chicken that wouldn't weigh half a breast and 3 slices of red pepper. won't be ordering again. it takes something for me to leave a bad review but that's astonishing

We went for the Xmas menu. I went twice once with a friend and the meal was lovely. I went the 2nd time with my family for the same Xmas menu but there was no comparison. The second meal was really poor. I emailed The Plough sending pictures of the difference between my two experience. Their reply! I heard nothing from them. It made me feel they do not care about the quality of their food and just wanted our money. Of course we will never go again. It is hit and miss what the quality of the food is and the level of service.

Overpriced takeaway Sunday roast with quite basic veg options

Went here yesterday, it's a very nice and welcoming place. The staff are exceptionally polite and the food was amazing, would recommend going here!

We do not recommend at all! We arrived Saturday evening for a meal, on the entrance already there was a one couple who fed up waiting for food and when we got seated no one bother to come to us to take order. After the waitress passed us three times and ignored us, we decided we leaving. I informed the person at the bar who followed us to the parking claiming we didn’t paid for drinks! WHEN WE DIDNT EVEN HAD A CHANCE TO ORDER DRINKS. Avoid at all cost.

Not sure what was going on today. But apparently weekend chef had forgotten to do food order. Several choices not available,Inc Scouse ( as chef doesn't know how to make it!) Disappointed 😞 Opted for sausage and mash. Was nice but sausages didn't taste anything special. Onto dessert. Again, some options not available. My waffle was so hard in places, after attempting to cut with a knife I gave up with some of it. 😞 Really doesn't entice me to return. Felt guilty as it was my suggestion of venue for lunch.

Absolutely gutted at having to change what was a 5 star review that was upheld for 2 years. Sad to say since the takeover the food is not good at all :'( Salt and pepper prawns were actually tiny shrimps cooked from frozen (yep I watched the bag go to the kitchen just after we ordered). Salt and pepper chicken was not the lovely breaded goujons that were normally served, nope, looked and tasted like frozen chicken breast pieces. Fried rice stuck together and curry sauce had skin on the top. Bar staff were lovely, but food horrendous. Sad to say we won't be returning :'(

Came for lunch yesterday, so disappointed this used to be a great place for roasts, all soft and like warm 😓 salt and pepper chicken has completely changed, it used to be lovely! No crispy coating on chicken, so disappointed! Dessert was nice, but rest of food wasn’t, I’m guessing change of chefs etc since new management! Also no where near as busy as it used to be! Despite 5 people behind bar at one point took ages to take plates etc! I doubt we will return

The Sunday carvery is amazing. It's like having a home cooked roast. The staff are really friendly and attentive where nothing is too much trouble. The setting is also quite beautiful. I found a little gem here.

7 of us arrived at 5.30pm on Tuesday, we ordered our food (it wasn't busy at all) and most of it came pretty quickly apart from 1 meal which I suspect had been forgotten about. 3 of us had the salt and pepper chicken which was priced at £16.50 rather expensive I would say. Disappointing is an understatement the rice was so stuck together we had to slice it, the chicken was ok and the chips were also ok but for £16.50 my expectations were so much higher. We were on a time limit or we would have complained and definitely should have done. We will not be returning anytime soon. Very expensive and not great food. What a let down as it used to be one of my favourite places to eat.

My daughter dined here sunday 29th off October, her and her girlfriend where treated awful, first they lost their booking, waited 25 mins and still no menu so had to go the bar. Asked for a dessert menu 40mins later still no menu. They had to go the bar to get the bill then where charged £8 for two lemonade and sodas. Myself , my daughter and extended family will mot eat her again. I also will never recommend this place. Very rude staff

Another favourite for our sunday roast have been coming here for a good few years. Just like a homemade dinner. Staff are vey nice to.

Have to say this was probably the worst meal i have had in a long time. Got the salt and pepper chicken with fried rice chips and curry. The rice I am pretty sure was microwave rice because it came out all stodgy and wet only got 4 bits of chicken which had no flavour of spice. Never going back again.

The food was average. They claimed the pate was home made, but it looked and tasted manufactured. The steak pie, too salty. The chips were okay but didn’t get enough. The veg cooked well but bland and under seasoned. It was half empty and the atmosphere was poor. The service was slow. We waited about 20 minutes for our order to be taken, in a half empty pub. Not as good as it used to be.

Went for first time since new owners, had carvery but not as good, roasties looked like boiled potatoes that had been burnt in places, not like the crunchier ones you used to get. No stuffing balls, soggy Yorkshire puds and yes the gravy was tasteless. Also had desserts lemon drizzle cake which was about 2 inches square and for £7 was a rip off. The cheesecake came which used to be excellent but this was again pathetic about 2cm thick and smallest of slices, again not worth the £7 cost. The other desert was Jaffa cake which a decent size and tasted very good. Had to wait ages for drinks to be brought after ordering and then had to get my own second round as they forgot to bring them.

it would have been five all round but the soup was a bit on the cold side but very nice the rest of the meal was excellent would go again very soon 👍

First time of visiting and a very nice experience, very pleasant staff and delicious food, will definitely be returning for another fine meal. 🥲

Went today after being took over inside much better than before ordered rump steak well done honestly was like rubber chips were disgusting and hard and look like been cooked in dirty fat also ordered a burger for my grand son and that was burnt and tasteless and dry son had a roast dinner no way as good as last owners may look better in side but food gone down and same menu.

Went tonight for meal. New management was lovely, spoke to the manageress and herself and staff were very pleasant and polite. Food has not change and still very tasty #fishandchips #duckspringrolls #saltandpapperchicken

Lovely dog friendly pub with a great menu! Ordered the salt and pepper chicken and the steak pie for mains, and a sticky toffee pudding for desserts- I don't think we could get over how tasty everything was. Went with a friend after work, so grabbing a table was easy; staff were friendly and attentive. The price of food was reasonable, too. Will be going again. Thanks to the team!

We decided to try the plough after it's been taken over by new management last week. We didn't book and they squeezed us in telling us we had the table for an hour which is fine seen as how we turned up on spec. We waited about 15 minutes to have our order taken but the starters came out pretty quickly. Once we'd finished they were cleared away and the main for my son was brought out while me and my other son went to the carvery section. Now this is where I wasn't as impressed the Yorkshire puddings were soggy and looked manufactured rather than made fresh, the vegetables looked a little sad and the gravy tasted like cheap catering instant gravy. My son had ordered salt n pepper chicken fried rice and curry, the rice was bland and mushed together and the curry was a congealed blob and overall just not great. I'm hoping this was all teething problems as it's a great little place to go.

I was told the plough had just reopened so decided to go for food and it was delicious. Nice to see it open again and the manageress is lovely, felt really welcomed. Will definitely be back.

Had a Sunday carvery here. Been in the past and it has been good but, not the best experience this time. Food was luke warm, tables were sticky, although this is probably the effect of cleaning fluid on the varnish. Very noisy party encouraging young child to shout, next to us which was unpleasant. Staff were pleasant and amenable though.

Lovely quiet pub ideal for a quick lunch lots of choice on the menu from snacks to full meal's I can recommend the tuna jacket potato and salad 😋 it was delicious helpful friendly staff nice quick service as it wasn't too busy plenty of parking and some seats outside in the sunshine 🌞

Always the best choice for the a carvery. Some of the best food I've ever eaten. Never had a complaint!

We went for a Sunday carvery, and I wasn't overly impressed. The meat was dry, the vegetables were soggy, and the roast potatoes were hard and overcooked. It's not a very big place, and they seem to have crammed as many tables in as they can. There were five of us, and they seated us at a table that would have been fine for four people. Hot, uncomfortable and loud, as the other tables in that corner of the pub were just as full. The staff, whilst attentive when dealing with you, are kept busy. This then leads to them becoming forgetful. Not a big deal to me to remind them we are waiting to see the dessert menu etc. But some people may become agitated by these things. Overall, I thought it was an okay place. I might go back, but I would probably lean towards trying somewhere different next time.

Food was absolutely awful. Got the order wrong, Sui mai over cooked and tough layer like it had been reheated after cooking. Didn't eat it left all the portion. Childs meal came in a really hot dish I burnt my hands on with no warning that it was hot. Asked for colouring pencils and something for my daughter and apparently the owners children and friends children was using them all so my child was not allowed any!! Creamy garlic mushrooms with garlic croutons are soggy bits of bread at the bottom on the dish underneath the mushrooms. Table wasn't cleaned properly, very sticky with marks all over, we asked for water and cleaned it ourselves with a napkin. All in all poor service poor food and seriously over priced for what it was. Will not be returning!.

Fantastic Carvery, Stacked my plate high as you can see. Really good menu also, great veggie options also. Staff were very attentive fitted us in last minute on a Sunday. Really Enjoyed it and would highly recommend.

Real quality food, too much choice to choose from, service was a little slow but the staff were friendly and helpful to us, even offered to keep one of our guys food under the heat lamp as he was running a little late. Dog friendly pub, which we dont really like so we went into another room where there were no dogs. Beer selection aint great but had enough to get by. Try this place out.

Had a lovely lunch with family. We all really liked our food choices, staff were very friendly and helpful and prices are reasonable. Would definitely recommend the salt & pepper chicken with fried rice, chips & curry sauce or the Lancashire burger. The young lad even learned and made us liqueur coffees which he hadn't done before and they were really good 👍

First time visiting here even though we live really close, staff greeted us and where very friendly and attentive. Food was amazing and lovely big portions. Definitely worth a visit, they have also decorated for Christmas now and it's looks so beautiful.

Me and my partner have been coming here for some years now, the food is amazing, everything freshly done and I'd say definitely one of the best places too go for a carvery! We have tried alot of places over time and find nothing can beat this place 🙌 1000/10

I can't fault this place. Customer service is 10 out of 10. Very chatty, pleasant and helpful. The pub is super cute, tidy and clean. Choice of food is amazing and the quality is outstanding. Highly recommended .

Great food, good friendly service

Very friendly, service excellent, food excellent too. The pies are made on site and well worth trying. The fish and chips are lovely, the batter is crispy.
