The Waterside Cafe in Derby

Been today only option chips, sandwich or soup. Dogs roaming round in cafe not in leads! How this place got 5 star rating is a mystery.

Sandra and her colleagues are fabulous. They make our residents from Kiwi House so welcome and nothing is too much trouble. We love our visits to this cafe.

Ignore the negative reviews! This is a decent park cafe - tea cake and filter coffee £3.80.

Very basic cafe. Chips, sausage rolls bacon baps etc.. Had a ok mozzarella panini with lame salad. My daughter had a very dry grey looking tuna(mayo) sandwich, which looked very bland. Can't recommend.

I’d leave none if I could Exceptionally rude woman serving me, very professional young man however on the till Asked for frothed milk, like the milk from a latte for a ‘babychino’ which most places serve Sighed, then told me she’d do it and handed me boiled milk Excellent work there. Years ago this place was great and now it’s another prime example of how useless Derby City Council are

End point of bike ride along cloud trail, stopped for a coffee and a kitkat.

Set in an idyllic location, next to a lake, Children’s play area, sand pit and fields. Prices are reasonable. Customer service is poor. Unwelcoming and unpleasant atmosphere. There was two tables and chairs occupied when we arrived so I decided to open a third set leant against the wall folded up. As I did this, the manager shouted through an open window “Don’t leave that there”. If anything I would have expected them to have either 1) set the table and chairs out as others were occupied 2) helped me set them out for my son and I. Inside the manager said “You can’t just move my tables” to which I replied “a more warm welcome would be nice, you know red carpet and trumpets; just a little customer service would be enough”; she replied “no such thing in this country”.

Good location but pre-packed sandwiches in plastic container and single use cups used despite them having crockery

A nice place with foods and various hot drinks. In summer time, provide ice-cream with various taste. Quite a good place to chat with friends to have a short rest and relax after exercise.

Handy little cafe but needs re arrangements made to suit more comfortably.

Been past this place loads never stopped, I've been missing out what a lovely peaceful place.

Went here with family today for lunch as at the fair with my grandson and children big order over 33 pound On my watching member of staff do my Oder she dropped my son food ok Floor picked it up and passed it me after she did it witnessed by me and my son and another lady ok complaining the staff was shouting at me what ever happened to the customer is always right I never know everyone was so hungry as there was such a wait and agreed to her re doing the food which was then served cold by now I couldn't even be bothered with the attuides of the staff again I just take my compliant to someone higher up I would avoid this place at all cost

When visiting Derby to see family we go to Alvaston Park which is beautiful and having the Café there is nice. We have had chips, ice cream and drinks here and everytime it's been good and the staff polite. From my experience have nothing bad to say.

Two stars because the sausage cob was very nice but the blonde lady that served me asked for £9.00 gave me 10p change from a ten pound note and walked away... we also asked for onions but she just ignored the request didn't say they didn't do onions just simply didn't put them on and walked away again! She used her manners when she did speak but she's quite ignorant...i love the park and the lake and normally the cafe but she should consider another line of work!

Bought 2 hot dogs. Bread dry, sausage cold. £7. Bought 2 cappuccino. Taste water. 2 years ago i bought one ham sandwich. Included 1 slice bread and 1 slice ham. £2,5 Food horrible

We were walking along the Derwent from Derby to Borrowash. This was well placed for a stop. I had a latte and my wife had a soup and roll - both were good. Friendly service and a range of drinks and food available.

Nice cafe, good coffee and even does chips! Also staff always happy to chat. Brings a smile to my face every time! (Ignore the haters)

Small cafe in Alvaston Park. Has a good selection of breakfast rolls, snacks and cakes. Nice range of hot and soft drinks. Indoor and outdoor seating

We'd been to this cafe several time perhaps a couple of years ago when it was very good. It was then run by two or three enthusiastic ladies who, I presume, were running it on their own behalf.It now seems to be (I'm guessing) staffed by employees rather than owners and, although they were friendly and helpful, it wasn't the same. There's not the same large range of cakes. In fact, I asked for the offer advertised of Scone and Drink and they hadn't any scones. I did have a cake which was OK but not as I remember them. The coffee wasn't that great either.So - nothing special but OK if you really need a cuppa.

Basic cafe with lucky dip service, council run it on min wage agency staff so if you order food it's a lucky dip as to what comes out.I don't blame the staff as minimum wage equals minimum effort and your onto another job in a different location tomorrow ,so your not invested into the business or bothered about wanting a customer to come back as it doesn't matter to you.

Called in today while having a walk around Alvaston Park lake, the staff both were very friendly and helpful,, the place it's self looked clean and tidy my bacon cob and cup of tea both were very nice. Will definitely use it again

Used to be (Madhatters) a lovely little cafe with friendly staff Nd good prices Them the council kicked the remnants out and brought it in house and it's gone downhill Overpriced, unappealing and no atmosphere Even the ice cream range is poor

We were visiting the cafe for coffee to warm up after playing outside at the skate park. The coffee is palatable enough but is from a machine. We did decide to stay for breakfast and it was lovely and cooked fresh to order. The rectangular plates were a bit odd for breakfast but that’s just being picky. The staff were friendly as always and very helpful.

What can i say about precooked reheated food kept warm. Very basic coffee machine expensive for what you get no atmosphere.

My coffee and tray bake okay. However another customer had problems with their milkshake being powdery, not mixed correctly.
