--- I recently had the pleasure of visiting this delightful spot and I must say, it’s a little oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of the shopping centre. The place is impeccably clean and the staff are incredibly friendly, making you feel right at home from the moment you step in. One of the highlights for us was the fact that they accept both cash and card, offering great convenience. My wife absolutely loved it, and I can see why. Whether you’re looking for a quick escape from the shopping crowds or a serene spot to relax, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended! ---

As a new customer of Jamaica Blue I was quiet excited too try this new establishment however after the poor service from Beth or (bev) I wouldn't be returning as I requested to see how long my smoothie would take her response was it's none of my business and walked away but she gave me my food beforehand so this made no sense also when asking for ketchup she stated ' Why didn't you get it yourself' when she is the supposed to be providing customer service. This treatment has impacted me negatively and makes me never want to come here again as the worker is rude for no reason and spoiled my experience of this restaurant. I don't usually write reviews but the behaviour is rude, unnecessary and needs to be addressed as now I won't be returning and really wanted this to be my new breakfast spot as a new uni student in the city.

Popped in for coffee and cake for the first time. Cake was stale but coffee was good! The staff member that served me was very polite but seemed rushed and stressed! It was very muggy and warm in there with no air conditioning so I’m glad I didn’t eat in. The atmosphere seemed tense and boring. You really need to rethink your prices!!! The quality of the food is way off standard for that kind of high prices !! All in all I would not recommend this place unfortunately.

Today was the first time we went there. It was around 3pm in the afternoon where I wanted to have a nice dish to eat along with a drink. While I was looking at the menu, one of the staff members asked if I were to order any of the dishes. I said I still needed to decide as I had just arrived. Then shortly afterwards her colleague rudely said that I had to hurry and I only had 10 minutes to choose as she has to get home. I was shocked and disappointed at the shockingly bad costumer service. This isn’t how you serve costumers at all! I had left immediately and I will never go in again.

I called in for the first time because the place looked very nice and not very busy, about 5 people seated and I had an eye appointment at Vision Express next door but I was too early. I had to wait about 5/10 minutes at the counter where a staff member was obviously preparing food. No acknowledgment until she had completed her task. I ordered a bacon roll and a tea. The roll was obviously frozen and over warmed up in a microwave as I had to pull it apart with my hands, the bacon was streaky/fatty and also tough. I could not bite into the food and to add insult to injury I was charged £7. The tea was insipid and obviously one tea bag of poor quality was used. I have run hotels and been in customer services all my working life. I just wanted to bring this complaint about this particular unit to whoever owns it. Won’t be using it again or recommending to my family and friends.

Fabulous staff and food. Drinks were hot and the food was freshly prepared and served promptly. One minor issue was the chef using a bit too much vinegar in the poaching water for the eggs, leaving them tasting too much of vinegar, but it didn't spoil the overall breakfast. We both had the American diner breakfast, and I would say it was priced well, at £9.90, and we were offered our choice of an alternative item when we asked for no hash browns. Hubby ended up with 3 poached eggs and I got an extra pancake. Staff were also very helpful and supportive of my needs for a bit of extra space for my wheelchair... Including moving chairs out of the way.

We've been travelling the World for the past 6 months, and this place is one of the best coffee houses we have found, in all of our travels and the staff were extremely obliging. As Aussie's we are familiar with the Jamaica Blue brand, and we were so excited to find this one here in Derby UK. We are a bit fussy with our coffee, but these guys nailed it, thank you.

Disappointed - came here expecting good food & coffee considering the price and previous experiences in other Jamaica Blues. Flat white was more like a latte. Goats cheese & roasted pepper ciabatta would have been very good if the rocket in it hadn’t been roasted under the grill, and the watercress on the side had seen better days and was turning yellow. Staff were ok although didn’t seem too enthusiastic about their jobs. Nice place though and cakes looked good.

I popped in to get a quick iced latte and the prices alongside the flavour is just disappointing . I paid £5.30 for an oat iced latte with pumpkin syrup. Still unsure why they charge for alternative milk as most places have scrapped that charge, completely unfair on lactose intolerant people and vegans. And the syrup was either flavourless or just missing altogether. I would rather pay for Starbucks and there is a lot more variety. Won’t be visiting again

I’ve popped in here a few times and it’s always been fine. Today however was a wonderful lunch. Avo/smash/poached egg. Absolutely perfect. The hot Bakewell tart was to die for. So, bravo chef, staff etc. the only reasons it’s not a 5/5 rating g was toast a little darker than I would like and the tea came a tad too early fir the lunch. But the food, service, great.

Fourth visit to Jamaica Blue since it’s opening at Derbion and after today’s service, I have to say it’s my last. Rowan was unnecessarily rude and probing. I was asked to order several times by her despite wanting to settle down and relax first. I found this odd as the cafe was cluttered with little to no customers. I suggest hiring more likeable employees if Jamaica Blue wants to become a trusted staple. It is no wonder why it’s the emptiest coffee house in the centre. It’s prices coupled with it’s service make it hardly a place to return to. - signed a barista :)

Was excited to take my family here for breakfast as been wanting to go for a while. Although customer service was good and the restaurant itself was beautiful, the food was disappointing. Unfortunately the smallest size of beans (about a tablespoon worth) to eat with the big breakfast, overdone poached eggs and burnt toast was served. Thought I’d try the red velvet cake as it looked fab only to find it tasted frozen still. Very disappointed given how much we paid. Would return only for the drinks and nil else sadly.

We wanted to have a late Sunday lunch in your café in Derby after having done some shopping, but were told the kitchen was closed even though it was only 2.30pm. It was very disappointing that the staff seem to be only interested in tidying up and getting ready for closing, instead of serving customers who want to have a nice meal. There was only cold sandwiches and cakes on offer, so we decided to go somewhere else. I really miss the proper cafés in Europe where there is table service and where the staff are actually interested in serving their customers food until closing time.

Shockingly bad, cheap ingredients and high prices. Special mention for the sausage and egg bagel I was served. The sausages were welded together by plastic cheese zapped in the microwave, which was sat on a jam based bacon smeer, resembling the left over bits you’d find at the bottom of a grill pan, sat on a stale bagel. As grim of a thing I’ve ever eaten. The staff are nice, but they’re just young minimum wage individuals who haven’t anybody on hand with experience to guide them. The owners are clearly just running things on the cheap (given it’s premium location) presumably to earn a quick buck before closing down blaming spiralling costs… not the dreadful food on offer. Avoid at all costs.

I visited here with my mother & daughter for a bite to eat & drinks. We went for a flat white & cappuccino, both drinks were nice, & the coffee artwork was spot on. For food we went for the “Big Brekkie” & “Eggs benny” with bacon. So, once ordered at the counter it took a long time before it arrived to our table. Unfortunately the breakfast looked liked it had been sat under a heat lamp for a long time, being all dried up. I asked the waitress for brown sauce, but by the time she brought it back, I had pretty much eaten my breakfast in which she said it was left on the side & forgotten about! The eggs benny was however better, in look & taste. Whilst we were there, we used the toilet & the baby change/disabled toilet was dirty, having to give the baby change table more of a clean than I would normally.

Really nice girl on till, but was a bit off putting watching a guy with the scruffiest T-shirt and trainers handling my cinnamon bun with bare hands after watching him lick his fingers and wipe his T-shirt in the kitchen. Could of gone to Iceland and done a better job on the fish and chips! The Turkish eggs were like some deconstructed salad with fried rather than poached eggs - it is NOT actual Turkish eggs. Also Serving ovened frozen fish and chips and charging around £9 is just plain wrong! The service was decent. The atmosphere is pleasant.

Truly, truly awful. Jamaica Blue are charging premium prices for below average, poorly prepared food, served by 'kids', who then huff and puff when you complain (girl in kitchen throwing stuff around like toys out of a pram and wearing a face like a slapped a*se). Max 6 people in there, yet waited ages for 2 meals. Clearly hadn't listened to a word I said when ordering, (well done bacon, runny poached eggs) yet ended up with meat that could have easily been brought back to life and 'hard boiled' poached eggs. Sent it back, waited another eternity for food that was, at best, 5% better than the first attempt. Never, ever again, my local greasy spoon is better (and cheaper) than this.....

I’ve been meaning to try Jamaica Blue for a while now and finally got the chance the other day when popping into town with my family. There are a great range of cakes and snacks to choose from… We had cheesecake, an almond and orange cake slice as well as a brownie. They were all really tasty and filling! We also tried quite a few drinks, I had a pot of tea whilst my partner tried a chocolate flavoured ‘thickshake’ and my dad had a Berry smoothie. We all really enjoyed our drinks as well! The prices were fairly reasonable from what I could see on the menu. It wasn’t particularly busy in there, we went in there around 2-2.30pm and had plenty of seating to choose from. The staff served us quite fast as well. I would like to go again to try some of the meals that are on the menu. Definitely would recommend if you’re looking to stop for a small bite to eat. Great little place to meet up with family and friends.

Amazing customer service. Warmly greeted by Jess & informed about options for Coffee. Served promptly for Brunch after 11am. Robin (?) & Jess also were serving very well as wait staff. After a tiny mistake ordering my eggs fried, I received the BEST Turkish eggs Breakfast I have EVER tried! Thrilled!!! The most perfect poached eggs arrived, despite how busy they were with Lunchtime, with no fuss at all. I had a gorgeous plate (almost too pretty to eat) loaded with heavenly bites of Feta, red onion, olives, tomatoes, creamy Hummus with Pita & a lovely hot Latte. I was very happily full. Compliments to the Chef :) The only thing missing was the chilli oil. Cheered me up on a rainy morning. I will be back again soon! :)

I’ve been coming to this place since it opened last year; I honestly love it! Staff are always friendly and whilst it is a little on the pricier side, the food is worth it. Everything is fresh, and I’ve personally never experienced any issues with wait times. My personal favourites are the blueberry pancakes (ask for a little syrup, as they can sometimes put a lot on otherwise), and the butterscotch milkshake; you won’t be disappointed.

The food is generously portioned and reasonably priced, the muffins and pastries are indulgent yet not overly sweet, and the staff are friendly with a passion about the place that it shows in their work. The food took approx 40-45 minutes to arrive and the cafe was not overly busy. For two breakfasts I think this is an extremely lengthy wait. It was presentable and no complaints in regards to the food however, it was expensive in my opinion. There was a older woman in there who continuously coughed throughout the time we was there. This was a very loud and severe cough and made us feel very uncomfortable. The fact is was persistent and continuous (at least 1-2 coughs a minute) I think staff should of addressed this as there was clearly an issue. Didn’t see any signs regarding do enter if experiencing Covid symptoms. Given the recent announcement and with cases rising it was not a relaxed breakfast we had hoped for.
