Why do staff who so obviously do not want to be there still work there. Never been served by such miserable and rude staff! Go elsewhere if you don’t want to do the job!

A beautiful setting with a unique craft/cafe experience. This is a regular stop for us when in the area. It was a rainy cold day so we both wore our fleeces as experience tells us old farm buildings and cold weather results in the need for coats. I love that they serve tea in a pot with loose leaf tea and a strainer. The tomato soup with a cheddar scone was hot and delicious. Ham and mustard sandwich for my husband. Once again, a lovely lunch.

The Watermill cafe is situated in a delightful old building in the pretty village of Caldbeck. They have a decent menu of hot and cold food as well as cakes, scones etc. From a hot drinks perspective they have a fine range of speciality loose teas as well as the usual coffee options. We simply had fruit scones and a pot of tea, all of which were very good.

Most decent cup of tea I've had in a long while, from a cafe! Real tea leaves, in a pot - tasted wonderful. Also ordered a sandwich and was delighted by the size and taste - really delicious (tuna and cheese), packed with filling and a nice little salad with coleslaw and crisps too. Both ladies working there were very nice too (Friday 22nd Sept). Thank you ☺

A beautiful location with so much potential, but the food really lets it down. Sat in the beautiful garden whilst the cricket match played on in the background. Took about 10 minutes for someone to come and take our order, and when we tried to order ourselves inside we were asked to wait at our table. We both ordered cakes and they really were the biggest disappointment. Pic attached is the ‘chocolate crunch’. The cake was tiny, and really greasy, not what you’d expect from a cafe like this. Had a fizzy elderflower and instead of getting the little bottles you generally are served with, it came pre poured in a sticky glass. It felt very expensive for what we got, even by Lake District standards. After finishing we went in to pay and the staff didn’t acknowledge us waiting at the till, and much of the space around the till area seemed to be used for storage of cardboard boxes? Such a shame - it really does have a lot of potential and would be a ‘must visit’ cafe if the food/drinks and service were improved.

We enjoyed our visit. The food was excellent and the service professional. The vegetarian sausage meat pasty was one of the best veggie pasties I have eaten. Light pastry and tasty filling. Watermill café is a bit hard to find being located down a small lane just to the right of St Kentigern's Church in Caldbeck. It’s worth hunting out though because it provides a good selection of drink and meals at very reasonable prices- the (home made soup) is particularly good. The only slight negative is the outside café toilets that are very basic.

Can’t believe that I have visited the same place .......people have visited this cafe and left glowing reviews hence why I went. We called in at 12 noon today .... called to our table by an unsmiley lady , handed the menus and then she left us. We watched as this waitress cleared and cleaned other tables, walked into the back kitchen, came out again and just ignored us. After 10 minutes, we put on our coats and left; she still ignored us. No intention of spending any more time in this most unwelcoming establishment. A far more warm and friendly welcome awaited us at the the pub nearby.

What a delightful little cafe this is and in a beautiful setting. The food is excellent, the menu's clearly states what you are ordering and I think it is a fantastic idea to price the sandwiches etc with or without salad & crisps. Not everyone wants the extras so why waste the food when it is left. I had a cheese and chutney sandwich with salad & crisps and it was beautiful and very filling, well worth the cost. The chutney was so good we bought a couple of jars to take home. The coffee was also excellent. All the staff were lovely and I would definitely recommend this cafe to anyone going to Caldbeck. cant deny the lovely setting etc - but our visit today bears no resemblance to previous reviews. From the plastic covered menus to having to ask for 2 more sachets of brown sugar due to having only been given 2 - why are sugars now not back on tables? I had an oven baked |burnt) potato with cheese, served in a bowl, with no garnish due to not having ordered the salad (at an additional cost of £2) which would have made my potato with a sprinkling of cheese £7.95. I had a decaff coffee with soya milk which cost me an extra 20p ... my husband had the strangely described vegetarian sausagemeat pasty again with no garnish due to not ordering the extra salad..... surely salad should be included in the price structure ? He did however have a tiny bowl of watered down chutney (which again was at an extra cost). our regular coffees were served in tiny almost expresso cups the way the pricing of the sandwiches is presented is unusual giving you various options to pay for crisps, coleslaw or salad again are these options not usually included in the price? My thoughts are that this menu has been put together by an accountant needless to say the next time we are in Caldbeck we wlll go to the Oldfellows pub

It's tucked away, but well worth discovering. The service and food were first class, and it's in a lovely spot in the Watermill building, between the church and the cricket field. The homemade quiche was particularly good.

Very nice little tapas bar/restaurant in the heart of Workington. The food is lovely, we particularly liked the sticky rice with coconut. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. There were not many food establishments open on a Thursday but these guys were, and reasonably busy too. My husband particularly liked the atmosphere of the restaurant. Will be back.
