We dined here for Sunday lunch. We hadn't booked in advance, but a table for 4 was available. We all had mains and a dessert. The food was delicious and generous. The service was excellent. We would highly recommend. We will be visiting again.

Wonderful food, extremely helpful and friendly staff . The restaurant had a really good vibe. The whole evening from start to finish was amazing including the pianist. All the staff were very welcoming and knowledgable about the food and the wine. We will return next year when we go to Tunbridge . Its the very best restaurant in town!

Excellent. Delicious food - duck breast to start, seared tuna for main, lovely fresh vegetables and salad. Goat's cheese amuse bouche and yummy petit fours to end. White tablecloths, professional service overseen by the ever vigilant Magdalena - perfect. All for a mid week lunch price of £22.95 per head. Terrific value.

Excellent vegetarian food. We had a plat burger and a baked aubergine. Delicious. Extremely friendly staff. Delightful views over the high street from a cool room on a very hot day. Will definitely come again 😀

The staff were very friendly, helpful and the service they gave was excellent. We had the Sea Bass and Tuna fish which was cooked to perfection. They didn't rush you between courses and the deco of the restaurant is unusual as each area had its own theme also very clean. We were outside on the balcony which made us think you were away on holiday. We will return again when in Tunbridge Wells

I have been visiting The Warren for years, they won my heart. The food is exceptional, service is friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is welcoming and simply enchanting. I have hosted many successful events at this stunning restaurant (at no hire charge) business meetings/socials, family lunches and more intimate meals with loved ones. The attention to detail makes each visit and course special. My dietary requirements have evolved over the years and I have always felt appreciated and catered for with love. If you have any questions just give them a call! You’ll be thrilled you did.

Hired the orangery for 32 people for a birthday party and the quality of the food and service for our large group which included young children was excellent. Great communication beforehand for pre-orders and they made name cards so guests remembered what they had ordered. They also allowed decorations, and accomodated space in the fridge for the large cake we brought. The kitchen was also happy to add the additional finishing touches to the cake that we brought with us before bringing it out.

I've been here three times. The first time in 2016, then mid-2023, and now mid-2024. My second visit was a huge improvement and the food delicious, especially the pork cheek starter. Excellent service as well. Cheapest bottle of wine is about £26, going up to something like £300. Meal for two was about £125 including tip, which included starter, main and a bottle of wine. Most recent visit seemed like it had gone downhill slightly. Service seemed a bit lacking - they were friendly but it felt a bit forced.

The food was nice, however we went for a Sunday roast and there was hardly any gravy on the roast… asked for some more and was charged for it which I found to be quite shocking. Asked for a kids menu and they said they do anything on the menu but smaller.. ordered the orzotto which my daughter ate none of as she didn’t like it… I was charged £16.99 for this.. for a child’s meal which is more than double what I have paid in nearly every other establishment. Pretty shocking to say the least. I even had to clarify it was for the child’s meal. The food itself was nice, but distinctly average.

This was a spur of the moment meal after a very hard day of work. I didn't want another slap up take away, nor did I desire anything on the Main Street, I was in need of something well cooked and tasty. After strolling up and down Tunbridge Wells looking for my meal luckily I happened on The Warren, which was accepting walk-ins on a Wednesday eve. They had a set menu and the price looked enticing, along with the unusual decor. I was seated at a lovely table close to an open large window, as it was a warm spring afternoon, and was entertained by the details and quirks of the dining room. Everything on the table was set just right, with cutlery that sparkled and a tablecloth that was spotless. The service was second par none! I was served by the elegant Ba'erta, who could not do enough for me. Initially I assumed I would have the 3 course set meal, but the portions were so ample and the food was exquisitely fresh, that come the end of my second course, I could not hold another bite! Everything was cooked to absolute perfection and it was an unexpectedly surprising pleasant meal that did not break the bank. I really do have to admit that the hostess Ba'erta made what was a very good meal great and if I could give a Michelin star to any waitress, Ba'erta would definitely receive 3!. Well done The Warren, you've just secured another patron.!

Visited on a Friday night by reservation. I felt so well looked after here. I suffer allergies, gluten, peanuts, and shellfish, and felt confident to eat here without compromising on taste. I ordered the lamb and chocolate brownie and it was a delight on every mouthful, so many different flavours abd textures that all complimented each other. The staff were all very professional, and the atmosphere was calm and not too noisy, so I could easily have a conversation with my husband without having to talk louder. The chef also came out at the end, which was a delight to talk to him. Would definitely recommend.

This pains me to write. I have going here for 6 years. The quality of the food has always been good, great even and was today apart from the roast potatoes, an early reheat I think, not crispy at all. .Overtime I have noticed a squeeze on the customer. A £2 cover charge, £2 for literally two 2 cm wide pieces of Bread. I realise that we are living a cost of living crisis but when you take your other half out for lunch that costs in excess of £100, certain small things should be complimentary. Its a dangerous precedent as Tunbride Wells has a lot of choice when it comes to restaurants.

For a Michelin Star Restaurant, it was a huge disappointment and massively over-priced. We went there for a special celebratory occasion. The place is nice but dated and needs a refurb (windows are sealed shut using duct tape) and tables are wobbly. The waiters (particularly behind the bar) were rather gruff. The food presentation is good, as is the taste - although objectively no different or better to any other decent local restaurant. We had scallops and venison sausage for starters, and steak for mains. The steaks came out with the wrong sauces not as ordered. We paid the bill and even left a generous tip (we didn't realise they include both a cover charge as well as a hefty charge of £16 for 'gratuities' - they are not gratuities if you are charging for them!). Later that night, one of us was sick with vomiting and diarrhoea, and the other person had nausea and diarrhoea. Both of us were fine after these episodes, which makes it extremely likely this was associated with the food - the person who was sicker had 3/4 of the scallops whilst the other person only sampled the scallops. The following day we rung the restaurant to inform them of the above - mainly out of concern. We appreciate that no restaurant wants their customers to have food poisoning so we thought we were being helpful. But we were met with a very surprising and patronising attitude. The person on the line was initially dismissive, then insisted that it wasn't food poisoning as this doesn't happen until after 24hrs, and insisted that they have done their food handling training. I explained that we have a medical background and it was definitely food poisoning and the staff member even had the cheek to suggest that perhaps we had drunken too much alcohol (1 cocktail and about 2 glasses of wine each). They appeared unaware that even fresh scallops could have been harvested from potentially contaminated waters and can still cause poisoning. Overall, the food is good, but massively over-priced. I believe the food-poisoning was coincidental and hopefully a one-off. But the attitude of the staff is worrying - all they had to do was acknowledge and thank us that we were making them aware in case they had received a batch of contaminated scallops (or some other ingredient). To be met with the arrogant attitude was a huge surprise and disappointment. I was ultimately told to send an email to the address on their website, which I have done and not even received a reply or acknowledgement. And based on their attitude, I have now requested my money back, which they have also ignored. I would honestly avoid - the White Bear, The Ivy and Soprano's are 3 other local examples with far superior food, atmosphere, service and value for money. Shame, as with a refurb, change in attitude and a recalibration of their prices this could be a brilliant restaurant.

Have been waiting to visit The Warren for a while after lots of positive recommendations online and from friends. Popped in unplanned for Sunday dinner. First impressions dated and needs a refurb the venue has stunning windows, but feel like it’s been a bit neglected for a while. Decor aside which could have been overlooked but atmosphere non-existent and for what I thought was a top restaurant was disappointing. Service average and at times slow, again not the standard you would expect for the menu prices. The saving grace for this place is the food. The roast was pretty good with one of the best cauliflower cheese I’ve eaten and comes as standard with all roasts which is rare. The desserts were decent, no complaints. With a bit of creativity to freshen the venue up I think this place could be 4/5 star,

The lamb was fantastic! The sirloin was not good at all The burger was very nice especially the fries! It’s really yummy The problem was the incorrect Bill we served. We ordered 4 set lunch but ended up on bill was a separate order of each dish (£50) more. It made us feel this restaurant is kinda cunning. The waiter was a bit itchy. I did feel his hand was dirty as he scratch his face many times and serve the food, which made us uncomfortable We booked the table for a birthday with a note at reservation. And the restaurant didn’t do anything to celebrate with it. Which is really disappointing

It was our last evening in Kent and we wanted dinner to be delicious and special. We lucked out on both when we chose The Warren on High Street in Royal Tunbridge Wells. From the first greeting by host and server extraordinaire, Magdalena, our experience was a good one. Ordering food and wine was made a pleasure by Magdalena’s generous expertise. Starters included a Feta salad with beets, micro greens and toasted nuts—fresh and colorful with skillfully balanced ingredients. Each of our mains was superb and beautifully presented. My sirloin tagliatelle was creamy and punctuated by juicy, well-seasoned sirloin. My sister raved about the rich flavor of her vegetable tagine. The fresh bread and crispy chips are worth a mention—mouthwatering! The courses were served at a perfect pace, making our dinner a very pleasant event indeed. I highly recommend The Warren and will return as soon as possible.

Fabulous restaurant. We got married at the nearby Mansion House register office, and enjoyed a perfect Wedding Lunch for a party of 14 adults and 1 toddler afterwards at the Warren, on Thursday April 27th. The restaurant itself is just beautiful, and luxurious, with a large “conservatory” style area, where we were seated, and a roof terrace/large balcony. Not everything freshly prepared! The restaurant blog refers to a previous, highly regarded restaurant on the same premises that has nothing to do with this establishment! Booked for an early Sunday evening meal, and was handed the Sunday lunch menu! Only one other occupied table in the restaurant!! Probably should have cut our losses and abandoned ship at this point!!! The Sunday lunch menu looked good on paper, but went downhill from there. The starters struggled to be recognisable from the description. The mains, were probably better at lunch, very obviously prepared some time ago and heated up. The bottle of wine we ordered was however good though! Disappointing, overpriced, will not be back.

First time at the Warren we’re from London and decided to spend time at Tunbridge Wells for our anniversary. Found that the food was average, my mains arrived cold. Menu don’t tally with what's on their website. Very disappointed they only had a selection of 4 dessert, two of them which is made of alcohol. I am 26 weeks pregnant so alcohol dessert wasnt an option. The other one was coffee based. I don’t take coffee. We went away without a dessert that night. On their website they have a long selection of dessert which is a shame. Find the food overpriced. Don’t mind it if the food was good but it didn’t do it for us. The male staff was friendly though.

This restaurant has been a favourite of ours for some time; then during lockdown we were deprived of it. Last night we returned and, boy, are we glad that we did. The food was outstanding, as was the service from all of the staff. My foie gras starter melted in the mouth, as did my wife's vegetarian scotch egg. Exceptional confit duck and mussels later, we came to desert, which we would not normally have. However, with the passionfruit souffle and chestnut panna cotta the meal got even better. Boy, are we glad that they have reopened! Our thanks to the team at The Warren

This restaurant was recommended for "special" evening out and it exceeded our expectations on every level. I had dropped off a gift earlier in the day which was placed on my table ready for our arrival with two glasses of Champaign ready as requested as we sat down. The food was superb, the staff were excellent and despite social distancing measures making all eating out slightly unusual right now the atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. The staff handled the COVID19 requirements in a perfectly balanced way with masks, sanitiser everywhere including on the tables, and spacing in the restaurant appropriate. No one is enjoying having to be on the way home by 10pm when enjoying a lovely night out but this is their livelihoods we are talking about and they should be given the respect required for managing an incredibly tricky situation. I though the team looking after us were excellent, they were engaging and attentive but discrete at the same time. It was a great recommendation and I am looking forward to finding a good excuse to return.

Arrived to a busy restaurant. Table was ready and warmly welcomed. My husband chose the sausage starter and I the couscous and vegetable tagine. The sausage was served with crisps? was tasty but my tagine, served on a small plate was bland .Decided on the Château Briand to share. Basically a small fillet sliced, cooked as we liked it, served with a large plate of chips and salad which we had to serve ourselves from with no spoons.Dessert was disappointing. Husband did not want any but as it was my birthday I wanted something sweet. I thought the Last of the summer wine sounded interesting. A cold fruit soup with whisked yogurt served with pink peppercorn shortbread. Did not enjoy it at all. The shortbread was thin not crumbly and too strong. Waitress offered to take cost off the bill which we thought was fair but refused as was my choice to try.Overall a little underwhelming and left feeling we made the wrong choices.

My 9 year old loved her medium rare steak which she has been dreaming about for few months and my 4 year old chose fish stew. I was, along with my friends and husband really looking forward to the evening ahead of us at The Warren. We arrived, and our table was booked for 8.30pm. I noticed immediately the lack of social distancing and spacing of tables, no hand cleanser sanitizer either - so I felt a bit worried by that. We were asked to sit in the bar, we had ordered some champagne for the table as it was our friends anniversary and so we had that there. Eventually after half an hour taken to table. The menu, I feel was very limited and I did have difficulty choosing something I’d like. Our starters arrived after some time, they were ok, nothing outstanding for a Michelin mentioned restaurant. Then the trouble began! Our main course did not come out until 10.45pm - Our friend went and complained to the owner who seemed disinterested and preoccupied. Then having been made to feel embarrassed (my friend) had wanted her steak (fillet) cooked to a medium level the waiter seemed to dispute how it should be cooked, his opinion should not come into it. We are the customers! When they did arrive my steak which was medium rare was put on my friends placemat - then switched to me then back again - for someone who made such a fuss about how it was cooked it was laughable. He was leaning over me and I lost my temper something I didn’t want to do in front of friends and asked him to move away as I felt crowded AWFUL SERVICE!! I could not eat as I had gone past eating now. The other meals were tasteless not seasoned and disappointing. My friend was still very upset by the waiters attitude and I was now feeling very worried about Covid precautions. None of the waiters wore masks or face visors- something I felt was sloppy and unprofessional. The head waiter was called and they did apologise - they claimed the kitchen was busy and not enough staff on the floor.... how is that our problem? If you cannot cope then don’t do the covers?? They took our main courses off the bill, and so they should. Who wants to eat at 11pm after having been booked at 8.30pm?We won’t return to this substandard restaurant / they need to stop being so greedy in numbers and concentrate on quality and presentation and accuracy. It was also very stuffy in there, no ventilation and that is another worry, in our current situation with Covid. We won’t be back and feel so so disappointed.

Having had the most dire experience at the White Bear where is was so complicated and stressful just trying to order a drink via their very complicated app, we strolled into The Warren. We were greeted with smiles and wonderful service. You know, the old fashioned type where you can ask a human being for a drink rather than an app. Where you get offered a table without being considered a diseased animal. A great evening and a beautiful table in the conservatory was perfect for our dining party of 21! Thank you the team at The Warren!

Arrogant, high-handed waiter who spilled water over my mother and didn’t apologise, never mind get her a napkin to dry her down. Indifferent, lazy service from him which is the more surprising as they were far from full. Food - distinctly patchy - the pork was fabulous, so were the scallop starters, the beef and the lamb were a very mixed bag. The orangerie is really beautiful and the waitresses were actually quite attentive and friendly. We have been here four times now and had previously loved it here but this place is not doing itself any favours. It’s basically acting like it thinks it’s The Ivy - and it’s very far from that.

Went here for birthday Sunday lunch and the food was exquisite. I very much enjoyed both the scallops and the roast beef. The collection of local wines was also impressive and the sparkling wine very tasty. We will be returning

We booked a table for two in anticipation of some excellent cooking, but came away very disappointed. The restaurant is in a great position on the high street and the room/decor is fine, though less cosy than when i remember it on a previous visit several years ago, an atmosphere not helped by loud arguments between staff members. The service was fine but the cooking was not. My pork chop starter was dry and tough. The pricey dover sole was also tough and although the flavours were decent enough and the sides (creamy potatoes and savoy cabbage) were nice, the fish was unpleasant.

A real shame as I wanted to love this place but I left very much underwhelmed. Firstly and my biggest issue is, it would appear that when we were there last night there was staffing issues as the manager spent most of the evening shouting at people! I’m of the opinion that this should never be in ear shot of customers and I was distracted from our party on multiple occasions by their falling out! Secondly as a party of four the time elapsed between all of our meals arriving was dreadful, in each instance it was two at a time with 2-3 minutes elapsing before we all had our food. I would also add that at this price point I would expect service to know who ordered what and not just shouting out what’s arrived. We also got offered 1 meal and once drink that wasn’t for our table.... So after all that I was hoping the food would be great but honestly it was just bland and didn’t meet my expectations for that price point! In fact I would go so far as to say I’ve never seen such tiny Scallops as my Wife was served as a starter and then to add insult they were grossly over cooked! As for the Steaks, they’re okay but nothing we’ve not had before! As for pudding, two of our party had the “Mars Bar” option which was frozen so hard it was almost inedible and I had the Macarons in the egg box which were good but maybe some variation and not just 6 identical sweets would be more thrilling! I won’t dwell on the clearly microwaved Date Pudding as I’m sure you can see a pattern emerging here. The Restaurant then ran out of Sauvignon Blanc and blamed that on a party of 20 covers, quite how that happens I have no idea but as the wine list is limited at best it made ordering another an expensive lottery... If the evening hadn’t been organised for us by a friend who I didn’t want to offend by complaining, I certainly wouldn’t have paid the £37 service charge that was applied to a £300 bill.... Sadly this was money NOT well spent and I won’t be recommending it to anyone anytime soon!

Very disappointing first time at The Warren. Setting the scene, there were two other tables occupied when we arrived. Starter of lamb sous vide was tough and bit odd but that was ok. The weirdness really started with my main. I ordered turbot and a side of creamed cabbage ( basically a pot of double cream with a bit of cabbage, really horrible), my husband a steak medium rare and some frites. The turbot was also bit odd but ok, the steak medium in some places, rare in others. Mmm. The maitre ‘d came and said the chef had got confused and forgot my potato because he’d had to do the frites...not sure how you forget a main component of a main dish. There were four other people eating...The maitre d then gave us some tap water, then popped back few minutes later and poured some into my husband’s sparkling water. Next up pudding. My husband’s arrived. After a delay, maitre d apologised then popped back a bit later to say the chef had made some fresh puddings hence the delay. Sense of humour failing now.. Finally, there was some debate amongst the staff after we queried that nothing had been taken off the bill for the missing potato; this had been at the maitre d’s suggestion, not ours. We could hear the rather loud conversation about the deduction that we hadn’t asked for, quite embarrassing. The reason this gets two stars is that the pudding was good, otherwise it was mediocre food and shambolic service. God only knows what it’s like when it’s busy. We were glad to get out. Happy anniversary to us!

Good restaurants outside london are hard to find. The Warren does a very good job. The food (game orientated) was superb. Well cooked, not too salty and portions of fair size. The service was set fair - not amazing. Our only disappointment was the wine list which we felt was a little weak. Not enough diversity (a lot of Sauvignon) and average wines at that. Be prepared to pay £90 per head.

We visited for lunch, when restaurant is often not busy. There is an a la carte but also a simpler lunch menu. The food is biased towards game and the venison shank from the lunch menu was excellent - not huge but very richly flavoured. Reasonably priced for the quality.

We had a fantastic lunch with food sourced from the small holding that the Warren runs. The food was beautiful cooked and seasoned and the flavours were matched to perfection. There is a great selection of local wines and very knowledgeable staff. Accommodated my allergies with ease.

My husband and I literally stumbled into this fab restaurant as we were pushed off the pavement by other shoppers. Our Saturday was made complete by wonderful food, red wine and great service. The bread and dripping was scrumptious and the pork with apple sauce was excellent, and they were just little extras. My fish was divine and the venison with chocolate, which my husband wouldn’t share was apparently delicious. The young lady who looked after us was efficient and really friendly. It was so nice to be informed of where the meat and fish had come from..

This is our favourite restaurant in T.W and we went last night taking some good friends for a belated birthday dinner. This was their first time at this restaurant and they loved it. It was a busy Saturday evening so the service was not fast - but this wasn't a problem for us, we like to take our time over dinner and enjoy it. The staff are always very friendly, helpful and polite and the food is wonderful - we love it. They use fresh, locally (as far as possible) sourced produce and the menu changes regularly - it's not a huge menu but what they do they do very well, and for me that's a real bonus. I hate going to restaurants where the menu is like a massive book and not done particularly well. The restaurant itself is upstairs above the shops in the old High Street - the stairs are quite steep so if you have mobility issues may not be suitable for you. We did speak to the manager about this because we want to take my mother in law at a later date - she explained that they were in the process of seeing if a stair lift was a viable option as they are aware of this issue and the fact that there isn't another way in. If you have any special dietary requirements I'd suggest calling ahead of visiting and I know they will do whatever they can to accommodate these.

We went to the Warren for a birthday meal for my fiance, and it was wonderful! Beautiful decor, lovely atmosphere and the food was incredible. The waiters were lovely and chatty and welcoming. I mentioned when booking that it was my fiances birthday, and they surprised him with a brownie and a sparkler candle, which just added to everything else. A wonderful restaurant!

This was our fourth visit to the Warren and we left feeling rather disappointed. The setting and the atmosphere is lovely and the staff are attentive however the food was the problem. The food all in all was “okay” at best. My partner had Carpaccio and I had lobster Thermidor. I did not finish mine. I had the beef brisket and my partner the pork belly as a main. While the meat was tender both plates lacked flavour. The pork belly was dry. The side of cabbage had zero flavour. No salt or butter had been added to it.

This was our first visit to the Warren. We had lunch on a sunny Thursday afternoon, sitting in the conservatory, sunlight streaming in and all the hustle and bustle of the high street going on below us. We were greeted with a very warm welcome and seated by the window. We had such a lovely meal I felt compelled to do a review. I can’t remember what my husband had to start, I was too engrossed in my scallops (!)... I could have had them for my main course as well, they were cooked so lightly and topped with bacon and praline. Heaven! We both choose the brisket (cooked for 14 hrs) for our mains, which just fell apart as we ate. Again, beautifully cooked ..... The only downside to our meal was we were so full we didn’t have room for pudding! We will be back, thank you to the whole team for a really delicious meal.

Another excellent lunch today, The team are very welcoming and attentive, the food which is cooked from scratch from their own farm is outstanding. The service never disappoints, always friendly and helpful in describing the dishes. The quality has never disappointed us. Their wine list is extensive and Olivier is extremely knowledgeable and will guide you thro the wine list. Very eclectic décor, items found by the owners, from many parts of the world, a feast for the eyes. The Warren is situated opposite the Tunbridge Wells railway station, but I have never heard an announcement from the station. There is a daily 'Special' lunch menu, but you can mix A la Carte with the Special lunch menu. There is quite a large outside area overlooking the road, lovely place to dine in the summer. Do try it, you wont be disappointed.

We had a family dinner for four on a reasonably busy Saturday night in November, however, due to good table spacing (ie we were not crammed in) the restaurant felt pleasantly buzzy and not rammed and banging. We were sufficiently spaced to not hear adjoining table conversations - please keep it this way as it is truly unusual in such a good place. We had a full selection of starters and mains. There were a couple of amuse bouche bits and pieces which came with an explanation (all delicious): the staff were attentive without being overly present. One of our servers was on her first shirt and she was ace. I had the Jacobs ladder to start, brisket for main. Others in the party had the tart, gnocchi, lamb and the fish. All dishes were superb. My only slight niggle was the deconstructed desserts which looked a bit mean (portion size) and contrived in presentation. If you're going to do a chocolate mouse, just do a choc mouse would be my coaching but I am being a bit picky here. The wine list is good with and Italian bias (not my strong suite), however, there was a well priced Ch. Musar and an even better priced Israeli Red from the Judean Hills which tasted superb with the red meats. Will return in January/February for sure.

I'd wanted to visit The Warren for ages and it's a great setting. However, the (set) menu was very limited - 3/6 dishes were beef. The pie was OK, but not enough veg. The main issue was the dessert (two chocolate brownies) took 30 minutes to arrive and, considering the restaurant was only 20% full, this is really poor. There was no acknowledgement of this from staff until we mentioned it. When they arrived, it was a simple slab of brownie and some ice cream...I expected more. Considering the setting, concept and price of this place, all in all it was very disappointing.

Had lunch here and it wasn't good value, the scallop starter was tasty, and well presented but very small scallops for the money, the fish was also one small piece for the main. The other main was lamb undercooked, not even pink but red and it swam in a mess of various goos and sauces.

Great food and service from Adam we did an overnight stop for dinner in our Motorhome. Lovely decor and ambience. Nice to find a business sourcing local produce and we thought good value for money given the quality of the food and presentation. The only downside was the discretionary 12.5% service charge. We always reward great service with a tip and always object to this being added on especially 12.5%! That said Adam was charming and very gracious when we challenged 12.5%
