The Vintage Fryer prides itself on being a traditional 1960s style chippy. It cooks in beef fat which makes for flavoursome and crunchy chips. The fish is available in 3 sizes and the batter is light and crispy. I like the flavour of the fish cooked in the beef dripping, a friend isn't so keen. The black pudding fritters are well worth a try. It's only a small place and for the most part, food is cooked to order. If you're in the mood for great fish and chips, give it a go.

I've been to this chippy a few times now and the food is always first class. An unusual range of food not available in other take-a-ways. It has always been cooked fresh. The owner, Rick, is very friendly as are Beth and Daz. You really must try it. Portion sizes are excellent too and perfectly cooked. I will not go anywhere else now. Adrian W. Poole

Dont get me wrong the idea of this Chip Shop is great. Battered black pudding, corned beef fritters, proper chippy sausages... all sounds lovely. But you need to get the chips right. The chips have been overcooked twice now. And tonight's looked overcooked on the outside but still had uncooked potato in the middle? The reviews on google are great and I certainly did love the black pudding and beef fritter. But if you can't get the chips right, then what's the point. I do hope they improve as would love to go again. Might take a trip to Blists Hill Chippy and pop in for a fritter on the way home. : (

Well priced, the servings are sadly smaller than some of the competition in Telford. Staff are very friendly which I do like when your waiting for your food to be prepared. Myself and Wife have the vegan pies too which are nice. Would love to see some more vegan options, maybe something similar to the Aldi Vegan battered sausage or some vegan donner? Would love to see larger servings in the large chips. Being shut on a Sunday is a shame, even being open over lunch 12-2pm or something would be nice 😊

The staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. The shop was spotlessly clean and the fish, chips and mushy peas were absolutely delicious! 10/10 👍

Closed down and now a pizza place; why Newport needs one is a bit of a mystery. Jones’ fish and chips are still the best in Newport.
